Background info: I’ve stayed in hostels, from 3 to 5 star hotels, apartments and airbnbs. So I’ve seen the very best and the very worst. Here is my genuine review. I’ll start with the good: the location. That’s it. The location was convenient as it was right next to a metro stop so going everywhere in Vienna was quite easy. It’s also in the first district of Vienna which almost everything is close to you. But that’s the ONLY positive thing, otherwise I would’ve lost it. The bad: Everything else. As I’ve stated, I’ve stayed in hostels before so I know how worse it can get, but this was by far worse than a hostel. I’m not sure who gave them the 3.5 stars as this hotel doesn’t even deserve one star. It felt more like a hostel but with everyone having their own bed and bathroom. Upon arrival, the hotel didn’t look bad. Check-in was interesting. Going to the room wasn’t bad, everything was dark but that’s the esthetic. The room however was the worst thing I’ve experienced. The bed was really dirty (red/black hair all over the bedding and black/brown dots). The bathroom had a weird smell. I requested my room to be cleaned instead of a free drink (they ask you if you’d rather clean the room every day you’re there or get a free drink instead and not have your room cleaned at all). I wish I picked up that drink instead. The bed was left messy and the towels were not folded properly. The room looked really messy and not cleaned at all. Aside from all of this, there was a really loud frequency noise that starts at 8am and continues every 5-10minutes. The noise was so loud I’d have to wake up and leave the room immediately and only return at night time to go to sleep. Yes, the location is great, however I believe the cons outweigh the pros and if I were you I would NOT book my stay with them. Not worth a single penny. Avoid at all costs.

I liked the hotel, the stuff and the concept. They have self check-in and check-out. Food for breakfast is good and there is something for everybody. Entrance in the hotel is a little bit strange, but it's fine. Rooms are clean, towels are changed daily. The only thing which I did not like is transparent bathroom walls, as I was with a friend. I mostly like my bathroom privacy 😊

Extremely well situated, friendly staff, great breakfast - more than I expected! Only a minus - the entrance of the hotel. And I didn't like that they keep the door opened large during the breakfast ( it was cold).

So, I put 1 star, because I want the people to know that, it is not a Luxury Hotel. There was not a problem with the rooms, but, it is nothing special for that kind of money, I have been in a lot of places better and more luxurious. The rooms are not completely soundproof as it says in the facilities and the lobby is more like a hostel lobby, the entrance is also ugly. You can get a better deal with that money, for sure ;)

Checked into this hotel for four nights as part of a longer stay in Austria. The room was compact and as highlighted by some of the reviews, there are odd quirks (lack of privacy, hand wash basin in room, no bedside tables, being offered a drink instead of a daily clean etc.) but what I found completely unacceptable was having one of the hotel staff put the phone down on me, when I had a very legitimate request. There was no wardrobe space or shelving to put clothes except for four hooks on a wall and some hangers (see photo). The pillows had no protectors and smelled from use by other guests. There was no phone in the room(!), so I called the main hotel telephone number using my mobile - I asked if there was a room with wardrobe space, but nothing was available. Then I requested additional pillow cases to put over the existing single case and was told to speak to reception the following day, I questioned why I needed to wait until the next day as this was a hygiene issue and the woman I was speaking to put the phone down, just like that! I’m guessing she just couldn’t be bothered and ended the call, what a terrible reflection on the hotel. I managed to get some additional pillow cases the same day after going down to reception (a space that also doubles up as a bar/breakfast room). The complaint about the member of staff was brushed aside as apparently there was no way of them knowing who it was I was speaking to if I didn’t get a name?! I can’t imagine there would be that many staff taking calls in a hotel that’s so tightly run. Breakfast was generally good with a small but fair variety of food. It did get very busy each day. The rest of the staff were friendly enough but more of them needed as they were all rushed off their feet running around at breakfast time trying to keep up with the demand! The air con in the room didn’t work, however the shower gel was very nice. Top tip: opt for a daily room clean, rather than a free drink. Having a compact room, cleaned and refreshed is much more valuable!

I recently stayed at Ruby Lissi hotel & bar and wanted to share my experience. Overall, there were both positive and negative aspects that influenced my stay. Let's start with the positives. One of the major highlights of this hotel is its excellent location. It is conveniently situated in a prime area, making it easy to access nearby attractions and amenities. Additionally, the hotel staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to ensure a pleasant and comfortable stay, providing helpful recommendations and addressing any concerns promptly. However, there were a few downsides that affected my overall impression. Firstly, I encountered issues with the air conditioning in three different rooms on the second floor. Unfortunately, despite reporting the problem, it remained unresolved throughout my stay, which was quite inconvenient. Another drawback was the absence of night tables in the rooms. It would have been more convenient to have a surface to place personal belongings or items like phones and glasses within reach while in bed. Moreover, the lack of a mini fridge in the room was disappointing, especially considering that the hotel had an open bar. It would have been convenient to have a place to store drinks or snacks, especially for guests who prefer to have their own refreshments. Additionally, the prices at this hotel were quite high. Lastly, I found the quality of the food served at the hotel to be subpar. It didn't live up to my expectations, and I found myself preferring to dine at nearby restaurants / places for a better culinary experience. In summary, the hotel has its advantages, such as a great location and friendly staff. However, the issues with the air conditioning, lack of night tables and mini fridge, high prices, and not so great food were significant drawbacks. If you decide to stay at this hotel, I would recommend exploring dining options in the surrounding area for a more satisfying culinary experience. I would give this hotel 2 stars out of 5 but since the staff was so Helpful and kind i will give it 3 stars. We also got a voucher cause of the air conditioning.

Very unpleasant experience, my wife had the contents of her purse including cash and two watches which one of them was a Rolex and her wedding ring and bracelet and my brief case which had plenty of euros and british sterling stolen from inside our hotel room whilst we were away from our room for half an hour. Hotel staff were not cooperative and would deny any wrongdoing when this crime was brought to their attention. I will be filing a police complaint, no one from the Hotel has reached out to me to rectify their wrongdoing.

Not sure why there are negative reviews about this hotel, we've checked out today and had a fantastic stay! Location wise, it's perfect, everything is walkable. The room is ideal, everything you need, great toiletries, very comfortable. The bar area is lovely, and the galleys by the bedrooms serving tea etc are great for when you return. Breakfast in the morning is excellent, fresh bakery, fruits, cheeses, juice, coffee etc, everything you need. The chaps who run the breakfast service are brilliant, very tentative to whatever you need. I'd 100% recommend this hotel, would 100% return.

Great rooms with comfy bed and an outstanding shower. Breakfast buffet was also very well stocked with many different tasty things.

The hotel is located in a great downtown location with shops, airport bus, subways and river nearby. Rooms were lovely but a little disappointed with the bed. I have been with Ruby before and the bed comfort was a lot better. May be it’s this location only. Otherwise, expect a very comfortable stay.

Four night stay. Our first to a hotel as part of the Ruby Hotels chain. Room was clean, spacious and pleasant to stay in. It might not be a “traditional” luxury hotel but the fittings and cleanliness certainly are in keeping with what you would expect (and the website is clear that it isn’t luxury in the strictest sense). The location is great, very close to the major tourist draw cards all on foot and very close to a subway station should you want to use the fabulous public transport in Vienna. Staff were very friendly and helpful after our 24 hours of travelling and were always pleasant in the mornings. Breakfast looked well stocked, fresh and very filling albeit we didn’t eat breakfast during our stay. The bar is a popular spot for working and socialising particularly at night - but don’t expect to be able to hear it from your room. If you are out and about all day (as we were) I can’t really fault the hotel at all, especially given the very competitive price (which from my research is the best in the city for location and what you get). Given this - I don’t really understand some of the negative comments of other reviewers. Seems to me they expected expected Hotel Sacher at 1/4 of the price of that establishment. Instead you get a good room, friendly staff, a really convenient location at a great price so you can spend more exploring the wonderful city of Vienna

Excellent hotel! Among the best hotels in the area. Central location and close to every major site including public transportation, the rooms are modern, renovated and clean. The staff is very nice, highly recommend

Had a terrible experience at this hotel, which is a shame because the room and hotel itself is lovely Firstly, after I checked in unfortunately I got food poisoning and threw up in the sink. I tried calling the hotel room to get someone to clean, but kept going to a machine with no way to get through. When someone eventually came (I called a different ruby hotel and got them to contact reception) he was very unsympathetic and rude, and said ‘why didn’t you do it in the toilet’, as if I purposefully chose to do it in the sink .. Got a room change after that, however was woken up at 8am from piercingly loud construction noise that lasted all day- there was no mention of construction when I was booking the room, or even at check in. This was extremely disturbing. On top of that, the housekeeper knocked on my door 3 times that morning waking me up - she kept knocking on the wrong door. At check out the woman at reception was very frosty. Not what I expect for a premium hotel like this - my one night in Vienna was ruined from this experience

Stayed several time in this hotel and was always happy. This time was different. There is a lot of construction going on (hotel is expanding) - that was not shared upfront and the only information is a note in the elevator. Even the note promised construction only during daytime but there was heavy drilling starting between 8:00 and 8:20 on weekdays that woke us up. We paid a lot of money to stay here for 4 nights but due to the noise in the morning and poor (or better no) communication I would not recommend to stay here right now.

Good location in old Town Vienna. 20 min taxi from airport. Minutes walk to all the sites. Tolerable even in November. Have a bar and restaurant which is nice. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Interesting layout of the toilet and shower so theres a lack of privacy. Ok for us. That might be an old town Europe thing. Similar set up when I was in Lyon. The shower is top notch.

Great location- easy to find, good service, enjoyable cocktails, and my favourite thing about this hotel - Marshall speaker in room!

We stayed at the Ruby Lissi for one night for a short weekend trip to Vienna. The hotel location was great and within walking distance to most attractions. The hotel and room were great too, clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend 👌

Awesome hotel. Excellent location, super friendly staff - Close to metro and within a short walking distance of the busier tourist areas. Nice to come back to a peaceful spot at night, and if you want to join the tourist bustle it's only a minute away

This was a good stay. I really appreciated the nice shower. It's in good location with easy walking to the river and right by the ferry terminal. Midtown is a short walk away as well as a really good breakfast place right up the street. All staff members we met were pleasant and helpful. The place is kept clean and tidy. If coming back to this area, I choose to return here.

Perfect hotel for a city trip! You can reach the city center in 10 minutes by food. The staff is also really helpful and friendly. Check in and check out work with self service terminals which makes it super quick. The rooms are clean and also a bit “used” but I think that’s normal but I would recommend the double room for couples only as the bathroom is not a real separate room and only divided by glass :-) a big plus is the bar which is one of the coolest I’ve seen so far in hotels!

This is a really nice hotel! I really enjoyed my stay here. It is a modern and cool hotel which is very near the principal Vienna's attractions. Service is really good but specially, I appreciated the great availability and kindness of Adijan. Ask for him if you come to the hotel's bar.

Stayed here for three nights worth over 300 euros - but a simple dental kit would not be covered within my stay, so I had to pay an extra charge. In a hotel of this price range I would expect certain services (calling a taxi, ironing set, dental) to certainly be included. I’ve had much better experiences in hotels of the same and even lower price range.

Very comfortable room and a cool hotel bar. Michelle, Lina and Cedric were very helpful, happy and friendly staff. We hope to return soon and hope they have a great National Day!

Stay was only ok ..location central .. took the offer of 2 free drinks in the hotel bar instead of daily cleaning of your room but the menu and options are cheap and and disappointing also no atmosphere.showers/toilet in the room while slightly unique I’m not so sure if it’s a good fit even for the closest of relationships!! The biggest dissatisfaction was being harassed by housekeeping on the day of our checkout..4 times my door was knocked on from 9:30am and we felt pushed out the door and I was standing on the street outside the hotel very annoyed and stressed and frankly NOT READY! Price versus value I wouldn’t be rushing back

BLOOD IN THE SHAMPOO The hotel itself is fine. But somebody put a red liquid that distinctly smells of iron in the wall mounted shampoo dispenser, but only enough for a few squirts. I assume somebody bled in the shampoo since it is easily accessible for anybody and isn't swapped after each stay in the room, disgusting and dangerous!

This hotel is adorable! It has this whole hipster meets rockstar vibe but plays Jack Johnson in the lobby feel. Truly a hidden gem as it shares the building with businesses. The staff speaks multiple languages and made me feel very welcome in a country where I don’t speak the language. They upgraded my room and went out of there way to check on me every morning. The location is great! I walk everywhere, so it was super convenient to get to all the busy streets and such. If I come back I’m definitely going to stay here!

  • 5/5 Dania M. 2 years ago on Google
The location of the hotel is fantastic! The rooms are small but more than adequate, and the beds wonderful! Unfortunately no food or Gluewein to be had because of the small number of clients (kitchen was closed) at the end of lockdown. While I liked the hotel and how close it was to everything, what really made my stay was the staff - Victoria in particular was wonderful! Patient and helpful, and always took the time. Michelle, Peter, Mara, Georg, Momo, Leon, Lena, and Cedric were also extremely nice, and I really appreciated them. I chose the place first for the location, but will come back for the staff!

Lovely staff, good breakfast, cocktails. The room was clean, and the bed was super comfortable

  • 4/5 Yuval Cohen K. 1 year ago on Google
The overall experience at the hotel was very good. The service, the bar downstairs, the place looks and feels young and the highlight - the great location! The room itself was very small and the bed was not comfortable for two people who are not a couple / two large people, so it is important to pay attention. Besides last night we happened to go to the bar and discovered a wonderful swing party with a live band. If we had not gone down to the bar we would not have known about it and it's a shame, it was really fun!!

From the moment we arrived in Ruby Lissi Cedric and Michelle went above and beyond to assure we were pleased with our accommodations and all our comfort needs were addressed. They helped with directions, suggested places to see and prepared beautiful coffees at our request. This excellent service continued for our entire four day stay. Always a smile and a greeting , always stopped what they were doing to address our questions.Leon was also very kind and helpful in assuring our early morning cab ride was ordered and our fears squelched.I have truly never experienced such a kind and genuine welcome before in my many travels. I will recommend this place to all my USA friends and family. Sincerely Karen Carpenter

Wonderful 2 night stay - pictures were exact from online. Clean and pristine hotel, lovely decor. Across the street from the Schwedenplatz metro which was perfect to getting around and to the airport. Great, accommodating and friendly staff Cedric, Lena, Michelle - thank you!

we stayed here for one night, but i really wish we could have stayed longer. the location is great, it has every necessity nearby. I would like to highlight how professional and friendly the bartenders(Adijan i Leon)are and they make amazing drinks. last but not least they are very handsome and good looking too.;)

Decent hotel. Clean rooms with good beds and nice shower. The room was a bit small and without a view. And the entrance to the hotel is a bit strange (you have to walk through was seems to be a lobby of a commercial building).

Very nice hotel in the heart of Vienna. Close to everything. Kind service. The room is really big! Clean! The only problem that there is no minibar in the room. Very good breakfast and bar with a lot of opportunities!

This is what minimalistic luxury really is about. You get what you need without anything to distract you from enjoying the city. Comfortable, well-thought-out hotel with amazing staff (and fantastic coffee!). The room was perfect: right size, hyper-clean, really comfortable bed. Great smelling soap too :-) The location is so central you have all of Vienna's important sights within a few U bahn stops at the most. The staff was exceptional. Austrian airlines forgot to send us our luggage and everyone at the hotel helped immensely, being friendly and encouraging at all times of day (and night). They really make you feel welcome! A shout-out and thanks to Cedric, Michelle, Michi, Jascha, Simon, Leon, Oscar, Tobi, Peter. I hope to see you all on my next trip!

Great staff and overall decent experience. Listed as a 4 star is a little bit of a stretch as it has very few amenities, the lobby/restaurant looks like it was designed by a boomer trying to be cool, and the entrance is just awful.

The atmosphere was very cozy and inviting. We loved the breakfast options, and our room was very clean with fantastic products for us to use. Location was excellent. Would recommend and hope to stay with Ruby again, whether in Vienna or another city!

Great location to sights. Small room but cozy and stylish with everything you need. Soaps were fantastic! Breakfast was very good! The staff were so helpful and happy to help with any details especially Leon, Cedrick, and Alex. Luggage storage so we could enjoy our stay also helpful.

Nice staff, clean rooms and great bar area. The breakfast was delicious. Also it has good location. Everything in the city centre could be reached by walking in less than 15 min. Also it's 15 min away by walking from station where you get CAT train to airport.

Good value for money. The location is excellent- very close to the center 5 minutes walk) to endless restaurants and cafes, to the metro and the tram station (1 minute walk). The room was small but clean and sufficient. We were 4 nights and enjoyed it very much.

😐 The pizza was so good! I’d definitely recommend the place for the people around the area. The atmosphere and the waitress were too nice. The only negative thing about it was the waiting time for someone to come and take my order, and again for someone to bring me the check.
