Clean rooms, cool design but sadly it ends there. We chose this hotel as we wanted the personal experience of a smaller hotel chain. Sadly, while the design and some features are ‚cool‘, the staff are decidedly ‚too cool‘. No information provided at check in. You have to ask for everything - sometimes more than once. You want your room cleaned? You have to ask. You want a drink at the (empty) bar? They have to check with the manager if that’s ok. You want the welcome drink included in your booking? You have to ask. (‚Ah yes, that usually gets forgotten‘) And so on. Rooms missing some basics for a 4* - no coffee maker, no fridge. Record player a nice touch, but didn’t work. Breakfast is down right embarrassing. The waitress on the first two mornings was lovely and doing her best, but had far too much to do by herself. As seems to be the norm here, there was a manager strutting around with a laptop under his arm, doing everything apart from engaging with guests or helping the team. The same managers help themselves to espresso from a proper machine while guests have to serve themselves from an automated machine. Lots of items unavailable or run out. But then served to the table next to you… At peak checkout time, the receptionist was standing out front of the hotel on his phone smoking while other guests and ourselves were waiting. The arrogant behaviour of the managers has clearly trickled down through the team. To add insult to injury, they offer heavily discounted rates to those who have eaten in the restaurant. For similar design values but better service and better value, stick with the likes of Motel One.

Superb hotel right nearby all the good stuff. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was beautifully furnished and the food was really good too although the breakfast was perhaps a little on the expensive side for what it was (€26 per person). All in all, highly recommended for your next trip to Vienna.

Room was nice, comfortable and easy/quiet to sleep in. However, this hotel has probably the worst service I’ve ever experienced. We had an issue with our TV on day 1 and we spoke to them about it 4 times before they even sent anyone to take care of it. It took 2 days! The front desk staff didn’t know much about the area - you’re better off googling for simple things you need like an ATM or food recommendations. They also cleaned our room a total of one time out of our 4 day stay. Overall, a fine hotel that’s reasonably priced but their staff needs to learn a better sense of professionalism and service.

Cute, stylish boutique hotel, very central in the 7th district. The adjacent hotel restaurant/bar is cute, delicious and worth a visit. Best thing about the stay… Christopher, the concierge. His tips were spot on and made our visit extra special. Clearly someone who loves his job and does it with joy. Thanks for the great stay and all your fabulous service!

We absolutely loved our 7-night stay at Max Brown! The front desk staff were lovely and very helpful, even with the unusual request of needing to find an eye doctor for a foreigner. The room was gorgeously designed, not to mention the main areas of the hotel - a great place to be if you love design, color and print. It was super quiet and comfortable in our room - although some nights I wished the AC would get a tiny bit colder (this summer has been hot). Our closet and bathroom went beyond my expectations. The linens and the toiletries were luxurious and there were fun touches like the record player and basketball hoop. One of the best things was the fresh croissants and fruit in the morning - especially the summer peaches and apricots! Wow. The vibes at the hotel were very cool, it matched the neighborhood around that is full of cool places for drinks, brunch etc. all with an eye to design. From here you’re very close to the main sights of Vienna too. Definitely recommend!

Myself and my partner just returned from a 5 night stay at max brown and we miss it already. The service we have received over those days has been absolutely faultless. Every member of the team was warm, welcoming and helpful. The hotel room was spotless, it's position fantastic. But it's staff 10/10. Thank you

We had had a fantastic stay anyway, lovely room, great breakfast quirky touches like the soft basketball and hoop and tge record player and vinyl albums in the room but the staff excelled themselves when our plane was cancelled. They not only made sure we could keep the same room but they also offered suggestions as to how to claim compensation, and how to get to the airport. Also have to add that the Restaurant is also amazing (although a little noisy)

I loved this hotel. The staff was so nice. My room was unique and very comfortable. I appreciated the large walk-in shower. It was in a quiet area rather than being right in the middle of the tourist areas, but it was still close enough to take transportation to anywhere you could want to go. I would recommend this to friends and would stay here again.

The best hotel and service ever! Me and my partner have spent 5 amazing nights in Vienna and our stay at the Max Brown Hotel has been truly great. The rooms are a great size, we opted for the small double. Super spacious, clean and tidy. The service has been brilliant! The organisation of the hotel and rooms were thoroughly explained and our expectations were more than managed. My partner and I were met by Max Browns beaming reception staff, who on a daily basis, went out of their way to support us with sights, directions and bookings. We were made to feel really welcome and felt like a home away from home. The remaining staff also went out of their way to introduce themselves and welcome us; on subsequent days they took genuine interest in our excursions and wanted to know how we were. Their restaurant… Amazing! I recommend to book in advance, as the locals also know how good it is. On days where we didn’t haven’t a reservation, they were eager and accommodating to fit us in. The restaurant and bar staff are very knowledgeable and the cocktails were mixed brilliantly. We have never felt so welcome and the atmosphere was second to none. The purpose of our visit was to help explore, as well as celebrate my birthday, however my partner also proposed! Upon hearing this news, the hotel celebrated with us! They made us feel extremely special. Saved the best till last… Chris was an amazing part of our visit and journey. Max Brown, he is a credit to you! So welcoming, supportive and generous, making our visit so memorable. We will definitely be returning to Vienna and will always opt to stay at this hotel!

Max Brown was the perfect choice for our trip to Vienna! We were really looking forward to come back to our spacious room and comfortable bed after a long day! The breakfast was what we needed in order to start the day! Special thanks to Eleni who made us feel at home!

Very strange new policy to NOT make beds and clean on a daily basis - but only every two days. And say it's to do with 'the environment.' No, I think you are trying to squeeze as much money as you can from guests in the cheapest ways possible. I ended up asking each morning for my room to be cleaned - and this was done .... but having my bed made is one of the joys of staying in a hotel - rather than Airbnb or at home.

This is the best! So friendly and awesome! They actually left me some candy and a birthday card.. I love you guy! Will be back in Wienna, just to stay in your hotel. Much love from Latvia!

The BEST hotel in Vienna! My girlfriend and I could not have felt more welcome. The room was perfect and the staff went above and beyond to accomodate all needs. A special thank you to Christopher at reception. He made our holiday!

This is a very cool and well situated hotel. The strong points: the staff is very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is absolutely terrific, lots of variety and good quality products. One low point: slow and erratic internet (on 6th floor anyway). We reserved a very large room and balcony, which was nice, quite basic, but not really worth the extra expense as the balcony was not particularly comfortable or attractive. It was a very hot period though.

We were for a couple of days in this hotel and we were amazed, from the extremely comfortable beds to the extraordinary service of its crew. Christopher gave us a lot of local tips on what to do in town. The location of the hotel is perfect. In a very short walking distance from everything that is a must see. Now due to COVID they do not offer breakfast in the hotel but they work with multiple bakeries nearby and they give you a voucher at a very reasonable price (considering how expensive is Vienna) which I really find it is a really great idea for supporting local shops that are in the near from the hotel. It also helps you to start the day by already going out from the hotel, so you are taking a time advantage by starting your city tour soon.

Extremely cool, well-designed hotel with spacious, quiet rooms. 24/7 lobby staff were all super nice and kept the vibe fun. Great restaurant/bar in the hotel. Becomes one of the coolest spots in the area on most nights of the week

Nice hotel, with good size room and comfortable beds. Do not make the mistake of booking and XL room, they do not have the same spec and comfort than the standard room. We paid more for it but had to ask to go to a standard one as teh XL room is just a long room where the bed is in the middle with not much room to go around the bed and the room is rather narrow. When the standard once have a better spec, with nicer bathroom, in the old building and more square with plenty of room to go around the bed and the rest of the room. Disappointed by the record player in the room which was broken... The rooms also need a bit of of update as they look tired already. Mainly the sink in the bathroom which you can see in the pictures... The hotel has made the decision of having the same entrance for the hotel than their restaurant, resulting of a lack of privacy when going back to your room and plenty of smokers from the restaurant when you enter or exit the hotel... Location is ok, but I notice some good hotels more central, so might try these other ones first, before planning to come back to the Brown... Sadly, I might not recommend it for the lack of privacy and tired rooms.

Good location, not in the center but it is a walk of about 20 minutes to the old area. The breakfast is very varied and the room is spacious with all the services and toiletries. Recommended.

Nice hut in a livable district, quite central. Good breakfast and with the culinary gem „Seven North“ in the hotel, there is a great culinary experience guaranteed if levantin culinary art is on the wish list. As nobody told us that rooms are just cleaned every second day, we hab some probs to organize clean towels at night, but thats not a big thing.

There were some very helpful and friendly members of staff - the lad on the front desk was particularly helpful with recommendations for dining out. The WiFi in my room on the third floor was very weak and there wasn't much clothes storage beyond the coat hangers, but I would happily stay there again. Simon.

The room surprised us with a disco player, nice furniture, good lighting and even a basketball hoop. Bathroom have a bathtub and it’s easy and fast to get hot water. There is no minibar or fridge so you can keep refrigerated things. Downstairs you will find a fridge that you can buy some soft and alcohol drinks. The internet in the room didn’t worked so well, sometimes it was hard to make a good conference. The reception and all the interactions with staff were good. The only downside of our stay was the room cleaning. We stayed 4 nights, in the third day, we went out in the morning and when we came back, they only had de bed done. They didn’t take our the trash, didn’t clean the bathroom, didn’t change the towels, didn’t take the teabag out of the mug.

We reserved a spot for the free movie night a week before the event. The website said reservations are needed and are first come first served. When we went there, the event was completely overbooked. There was a huge cue of people who had all signed up und could not get in. What’s more is that we even called ahead to check, and we were told that everything is fine and we have a spot. Suggest that you clarify the wording on your website. Hotel looks nice though.

The rooms are in a modern, fun style and quite modern, which we liked. And quite comfortable. However, you can tell that they are not the newest anymore, bits and pieces of the room look a little run down.

Max brown was a breath of fresh air! First time in Austria, first time in Europe, they made us feel very comfortable and welcome! They even had a little surprise in the room that gave it a very personal touch! Overall super glad we landed here and not anywhere else!

Such a great, fun and funky hotel! The vibe is just right for making sure you feel welcome, happy and adventurous. The bed was so comfy, the shower felt great and there was a record player in the room to get the grooves going. It sits in an awesome district full of shops and restaurants. Perfect spot for a stay in Vienna!

Almost fantastic…. Brilliant breakfast… The Bed was a little small… My wife would have loved a shower cap & some hair conditioner… Really frustrated that the room was only serviced every two days. We only stayed two nights, so our room was never serviced…☹️. The staff were all fantastic !!

I guess luck was not on our side with this place. First we got a room assigned that was not ready yet and when trying to call the receptionist, the phone did not work. We then got another room which looked nice. However my guess is that it wasn‘t in use for some time because their was heavy sewage smell coming out of the bathroom and it affected the whole room. Not sure the hotel can do sth about it but nevertheless it wasn’t that nice. A bedside lamp was broken but other than that staff was super nice and the rooms absolutely clean.

Amazing hotel! The bed is the most comfortable bed I ever slept in! The whole staff is special one by one! It is not a surprise that it is awarded as the No1 Hotel in Vienna! From the moment you step your foot in the hotel until the end you feel like you are in a familiar environment full of people filled with love and care for you! It is a unique experience!

Absolutely awful customer service. My message at the booking desk was answered for half a day and was taken very rudely. This was my first experience at this hotel and definitely the last - I would never recommend it.

The coolest hotel in the town for a good price! We stayed there only for 1 night, but it was an enjoyment! Very friendly, smiling & helpful staff, who helped us with everything. I highly recommend this hotel and the next I go to Vienna, I'll definitely stay in this hotel again.

Very cool city-hideaway in the heart of the 7th district. I was there for a weekend trip and enjoyed every second. Very cool and friendly staff. There were helpful on every matter. Unfortunately, we had no chance to have a dinner at Seven North since it was fully booked within my stay. I will come back definitely!

  • 4/5 Nina A. 1 year ago on Google
The bed really was very comfortable! Location is good. They have a pool table you can use which is fun. We didn't book breakfast but they had coffee, fruit and pastries available free of charge to help yourself to which was a nice touch! Well decorated and clean, but a few issues e.g. didn't get our welcome drink, the record player and the phone in the room were broken and requests for help on their whatsapp went unanswered, which slightly dampened our check-in experience.

My husband and I have been at 7North (the restaurant downstairs) multiple times and loved it. So we thought the hotel experience will be the same. Unfortunately we were disappointed. Yes, the beds are comfy and the room is stylish. But my husband had attend a few virtual meetings and it was cumbersome. The wifi is not stable enough to allow great quality video calls. During our stay (4nights) the fire alarm went off at least twice. And the water pressure in the shower was very low. I addressed this at the front desk, but besides the"we will have a look" we can't say if anything breally happened. Also one toilet flush (out of the two) is broken, same here no appreciation of letting them know or trying to accommodate our needs. Again, we love the restaurant, but won't return to the hotel since it didn't match our needs. It's a hit or miss it seems and unfortunately we were on the miss side this time. If you're looking for a city hotel with a good location, and won't be in the rooms too much I can recommend it- because the beds are really comfortable.

Max Brown is a super great hotel, with very relaxing, spacious rooms. The included breakfast was prepared by the friendliest staff, and the front desk staff at the hotel was always super helpful and fun. After check out, when I forgot something important in my room, they went above and beyond to mail it to me at my next destination. Can't recommend this hotel highly enough, and can't wait til I can stay there again :) Thanks Max Brown!

We were a group of 3 couples, visiting Vienna without our kids. Great looking hotel, design, look and feel was on point. Ver very cool place and well located. Service was also first class and on point at all times. Very personable and attentive staff. Place has a real vibe to it. Breakfast was just OK for vatiery, but the quality of the produce more than made up for this, superb. The 🍒 on the cake was the 7North restaurant which is an amazing sharing experience, again with incredible produce and impeccable service. I don't often leave reviews, but this was a great find and I'd encourage anyone visiting Vienna to stay in this lovely hotel. Oh, and it was great value for money as well!

They have different types of rooms at the same price. You have to be very careful with them. We checked the price on booking, it was 90 euro/double room, and at the reception they told us that the price for a double room is 114 euro. We stayed here 4 times, and the first time was very nice because they gave us a room with a street view. I think those are the only nice rooms. We stayed here 4 time and every-time they registered us in their data base and they didn’t see that we stayed at them before. This was the last time.

Pretty good for the price and great area. Although no coffee in room and we’re told to come down and get coffee, but then we’re charged €2.40 each which felt strange. Shower gel ran out, phoned up about it but never got re filled. So nothing major wrong, just a few smaller things such as this.

The hotel is nice! The rooms are very stylish, bed and pillows are so comfortable. Staff made an excellent job. We didn’t like our first room (there was a lock door inside the room, it was a bit creepy). We asked to change the room at the front desk and they instantly said “no problem”. Downside: It’s a bit noisy. You can hear people talking, closing their door… Also wifi is unstable, not so great when you have to work. We took the breakfast (20euros) it was delicious, all was homemade and fresh. The location is perfect, the street is not noisy and bus, metro, tram are not far from the hotel. Overall, would recommend this place!

The 7th district location was great, quiet and close enough to the city center. The staff was very friendly. We had an issue with the air conditioning in our rooms - the staff provided some fans, which helped in reducing the heat in the rooms at night. Loved the fresh iced tea & fruit that was provided in the lobby every day.

Enjoyed a week's stay at Max Brown this week. Spacious rooms, comfortable beds and very good breakfast. Good daily housekeepers, great to have free toiletries in the room. Good to have the fridge & would have been even better to have water & milk on arrival.

I have a service dog. I rarely mention it or cover him in decals because I dislike the attention. That being said, I travel everywhere with my dog and my reviews typically reflect my delight with how businesses accommodate us. Max Brown will not be receiving such delight. If you are expecting a 3 star Ibis, your expectations will be met, but Max Brown is not a four star hotel; not by a long shot. It’s not a bad hotel, just not as described. Pros: heated floors in bathroom. Great pillows. Good cleaning staff. Heat works. Nice sized room. No outdoor noise….when they put you in the annex, which they did with us, presumably because I had a service dog. Con: No mini bar, no room service, no coffee in the room, no vanity set, no robes, no guide to the hotel or area, half mile walk (including stretch outside) to room from the lobby if you’ve been relegated to the annex, and for the entirety of our stay there was, presumably, a Flamenco dance troupe above our room practicing their routines 24/7. Then there’s the restaurant…which is necessary for the four star rating. The restaurant apparently is independent from the hotel. They simply share lobby space. After 8 days in Vienna, this restaurant was the only restaurant in the entire city that we found that didn’t allow dogs. I would have insisted, considering my dog’s profession, however the staff - at both the hotel and the restaurant - were so aggressively opposed to the suggestion, we happily dined elsewhere for every meal.

The stay at Max Brown hotel Vienna was one of a kind! The warm welcome, friendly staff, inviting ambiance, along with the beautiful rooms, music records, facilities, and yummy breakfast, made our stay an unforgettable one. A special thank you to Christopher, from front desk, who helped us in every way possible, even went the extra mile, from the moment we arrived till we left. If you want to have a genuine Austrian experience, Max Brown is the place to stay!

The hotel's cleaning service threw our clothes away. I and my wife were having a long multi-country trip and stored our dirty clothes in a plastic bag. After the first room cleaning this bag suddenly disappeared. At the reception, we were told that our clothes were taken for the laundry services however later it turned out that they were just thrown away. Despite the received compensation, our impressions of the hotel and our trip were drastically reduced. Incredibly disappointing experience.

The hotel was beautiful and I really enjoyed the design of the rooms and facilities. The bed, especially the sheets, very heavenly! All staff was fantastic too. The only tiny little thing that was not 5star worthy was the bathroom. Unfortunately the drain of the shower was clogged and so I accidentally flooded the bathroom within minutes of arriving.

Very comfortable rooms with great shower. Air con not working in one of the rooms so detracted from the comfort. Hotel was fun to stay in with teens - enjoyed the pool table. Service was amazing - and we were really happy with the location - easy access to great local restaurants including Seven North (superb) on site, and public transport routes into the centre.

Well located and really beautiful…service could improve a lot, bar opening time also. I’ve been travelling around the world and I believe is over price I guess because is well located and you have a photo box in the entrance price should be up. Water from the shower change a lot so if you want a hot shower you have to be ready to feel cold sometimes. No laundry services and also I ask for a painkiller cuz I had a little headache and no help at all. I work in the hotels industry and I believe workers and staff should have in case somebody need. Anyway the hotel is really beautiful and the room very simple. Also they put a vinil player in the room that doesn’t sound 😅 I guess is just decoration for the pictures was sad to not have some music from there.

I stayed at this hotel for three nights in mid June. Overall the hotel is very nice, with wonderfully quirky decor. The location is great and within walking distance to the metro. The bed was comfy, the room was quiet and the shower pressure was great. I mentioned it was for my birthday and they even left me balloons and a small gift. It was very thoughtful. However, there were some downsides, which is why I give 4 stars. The first being that the AC is quite European - as it was more like a fan than an AC. Therefore, if you need COLD to sleep, this is not for you. (You can leave the window open at night which helps, but then you have to leave the blinds open - there rooms are already quite bright during the mornings with the blinds closed [another downside]) Finally, there was only one elevator so I found myself sometimes waiting several minutes for the elevator.

Pros: Nice design; comfortable beds; spacious bathroom with pump soap; nice restaurant; quiet at night; great neighbourhood. Cons: Air conditioning unit in our room was quite noisy; housekeeping did not clean our room during our stay

Nice clean room, with a large window that can be opened (which was great). The only issue I had was with the internet connection, that kept interrupting. so for business travels , if you need good internet connection, this may not be the place. I didn't try the restaurant downstairs, because I arrived at 7 pm and they said they are so full they could not accommodate a dinner for 1, which I found very strange. So, I had to find another place in the area to eat something for dinner.
