Not to recommend. Worst accommodation I ever tried in my life. Even mattresses in Thai hostels were better. Staff didn't even bother to ask why we are checking out 15 min after we checked in. No great value for money. Take another 10-20€ more and you can get way better accommodation. Plus other guest were super loud and noisy (and not well mannered). Definitely not recommending this to anyone

Overall experience is Noraml. First Plus point is Very good and convenient location for tourists. They can stay. Second plus thing is Rooms is well clean and perfectly settled all stuff inside the room. Third is in ground floor many games 🎮 to play and you can also sit there. One thing that I didn't like that one staff member is little bit unfriendly. I understand that he is finding something or not. He took more to give room key. And When we asked for room allocation why late but he didn't try to convince but argued with my friend for that about like I already finished my work or something. Only one that thing I didn't like. Just solved it 👌 😉 😌 Thank you 😊 🙏 👍

The standards of hygiene and cleaning, as well as the staffing, are very very bad. On a weekend having one member of staff who is disappearing to deal with six people trying to check in? The female members of staff deserve to made management. The male staff seemed unable to multitask and were very slow. The guest kitchen was filthy, it clearly has not been cleaned in weeks, or even months. It is a small area, and would take no more than five minutes for the cleaners to deal with. The common area was also poorly cleaned and ventilated. I don't want to give a review that isn't 4 stars, because this place has potential. Hygiene is so important in pandemic times that I cannot rate it any higher.

First of all, we couldn't get into our room at 3 pm, were asked to wait. The light in the room is so weak, that I feel like I am in the shelter in Ukraine hiding from the bombing again, the quality of cleaning is strange: the toilet is with ...on the floor there are some breadcrumbs....the price for the room was 90 dollars, but expect the location I don't recommend it.

Asked for something simple the skinny guy ask us wait 10 min later he is doing he's own things but can clearly he didn't forget. About us girl comes (I think she's Tunisian) ask if we need anything tell her she immediately go and does it. All of this happens at the reception. The hotel is overall nice but bathroom stinks. Not that bad but wouldn't had choose it if there was another one that close to the train station 😑 need improvement on the cleanness

After booking this hostel I got to see some of the reviews on google. I must say that I can only share my experience with a two bed private room. But from the reviews I've read it seems like the people writing them were expecting a 3 or 4 star hotel but forgot they have booked a 1 star hostel. The cleanliness of rooms was alright, bathroom was a little rusty (we had a private bathroom in the room). The luggage room was messy but not disgusting. If you treat people who do the check in with respect they will do the same. We did not try the food they were offering. It was noisy. Because schools are using this hostel for school trips and that was a little annoying but alright. The location is great! It's just around the corner from the main train station. They have lockers that you can pay like 2 euros to store your bag for limited amount of time. I think I would book again. I do not know what the shared dormitories looked like, but I don't think it would be worse.

The location is very good, the service as well(there are young guys in stuff that talk English very well). The only problem (but that is not a very big one) is the fact that the furniture is extremely minimalist, the bed mattress are with springs(old style) and you can feel them on your back. Another thing is the TV, I never see a smaller TV in my life, is like a laptop screen 15inch. But the entire experience is good!

The rooms were good and the hostel itself was in a good location. But the staff were very rude and weren't even trying to help us. The maps, recommendations that are usually given in hostels were not there. The maps that they had was not helpful. Go there only if you are staying just for a night and not really expecting the usual hostel/backpacking experiences

Stayed there with our school, bathroom was okay but very small, beds were uncomfortable, breakfast was bland but edible, people were extremely loud and it made my sleeping very difficult. The cleaning only included emptying the trash. Our sign to not clean was ignored and the window was broken, wouldn’t close properly. The positive things I’d point out is that the pillow was comfortable and big and the location was pretty good.

Really good value for money. Got a great last minute deal on a private room and they even checked us in 3.5hrs early as the room was ready early. All staff are very friendly. Hostel has a really good social vibe.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Horrible stay. Went with a group of university students, stayed one night and ended up booking the rest of my time at The Zeitgeist around the corner. Bus loads of screaming children in and out all hours of the day. There is ZERO regulation. The employees use the rooftop bar as their own private hangout. When I asked to be let in, I was told “it is open, but not for you”. Mean mugged and followed around by a white, bald security guard anytime I would visit the other students. Super uncomfortable. The common bathrooms downstairs absolutely reek of stale urine and ammonia to the point you can’t breathe. The rooms are not clean. The towel racks are covered in grime. There are far better accommodations close by. DO NOT STAY HERE

Of course this is a hostel, so what can you really expect? But here's my experience anyways. Positives; - Friendly staff - Centrally located - Next to central station - Cheap Negatives; - Room not clean - Bed is terrible - A lot of noise all hours of the day and night - No aircon and ventilation is terrible. The air is thick and hot (august) Would not recommend if you're a light sleeper and like rooms clean from previous guests.

DO NOT STAY HERE. When we arrived, the room was not even cleaned. All bins in room still had rubbish leftover from previous stay. The toilet was disastrous. The sink was filled with water from previous visitor and it’s stuck. We tried to pull the stick to fix the problem but it didn’t work. Shower room didn’t drain properly and it’s fully stuck by hairs. TV didn’t work. There was a TV in room with zero channels, even after doing a scan. The remote was ripped off and there’s no battery at the back. When we asked for a clean up, the reception only told us that janitor was off work already and we had to deal with it for the rest of the night. When asked for changing room, he told us the hotel is 99% booked so there was no other room. We booked a room for 2, but the room had 2 beds AND A EXTRA BUNKER. Resulting a much smaller room then they promised on the Internet. The only compensation we had was free breakfast. The breakfast didn’t have much choice (sandwiches, hams, cereal) and overcrowded. Table and dishes were not clean.

The old looking guy at the reception was so rude and did not have any basic level of hospitality for greeting guests/ facilitating bookings. I understand it’s hostel, not a fancy hotel, but it doesn’t mean you can’t be nice to your guests. He even acted like he owned the hostel and can do whatever. I stayed in other a&o hostels before and had good experience but this one can be avoided as long as this guy works here. If you don’t like your job, simply move on and hand it to people who can do the job

As for location it's near Central train station However walking distance to the city center is long which is normal for a city like Vienna What I didn't like and find it pity was the rooms were not well organized in the sense of distribution of facilities for each bed. Also outside and inside is very very very very loud Esp that it's getting full and people play or do loud activities in the corridors There were no covers for the bed stuff like pillows etc which is very problematic for hygiene issues. There is no lock box in the room and you can keep your things locked in a place and you have to leave it as it is or using downstairs their lock box but for one day might be ok but for more nights one can't take luggage up and down. Next to the beds, there is no personal light and people come and go by switching on the central lamp which is disturbing esp late at night Bo plugs near beds and only o saw one or two had but it was occupied by the person who slept on those beds. Also breakfast is really expensive esp for the options offered

Its a well established brand in hostels but maintaining its infrastructure is equally important. Price for a night- €18 The good- rooms are okay okay clean, friendly reception team, great location (3 min walk from Vienna Central station, 5 min walk from Metro and Grocery store), everyday cleaning team cleans, washroom always clean, linen and towel included, small kitchen area (with Microwave, stove, Refrigerator)- overall good place 👍 Scope for improvement- please fix your lockers(photos/videos attached), the usb ports don’t work - these 2 suggestions for now😅 So cutting 1 ⭐️ for not maintaining.

I don’t know how to explain this facility. The security is literally against people having a good time and the bar doesn’t want to serve you. Multiple times we were having a small celebration on a Saturday night and we rudely interrupted being told to whisper. If you come here and expect a hostel resembling any vision of fun look anywhere else I deplore you to not make the same mistake we made. Great breakfast.

Would give 0. Spend a little more and stay elsewhere -check-in took over an hour for some reason -saw easily a dozen people unmasked loitering the lobby, masking not enforced at all -very little soundproofing in rooms, we were in a private double -window wouldn't close so street noises all night -cleaning staff knock once (one light knock only) at 845 in morning then just barge into your room giving you one second to respond -not even a great location compared to other hotels near central station

I stayed two nights. 1. The first night I came across a guy having serious coughing, so I changed the room. All of the roommates complained and changed the room as well. We wonder if the reception checked its patrons' Covid status. 2. The second night one of my roommates showed aggressiveness to me just because I closed the door bit loudly. He and his friend seems to "live" in this hostel (room 315) and made the room very unclean. 3. I feel like this hostel with relatively low price attracts some ppl to settle down here. I can say this hostel is like a "refugee center". 4. The reception (night shift) is quite impatient and told me I only can change the room one time, though he helped me change the room in the end. The other guy wearing black suits is rude. 5. The dorm bed is not equipped with the light and the socket. And they charge you extra €3 for bed linen. I'm appalled by this hostel's poor quality. I am also highly suspicious of Austrian A&O's management and the way Austrians manage their hospitality business. Avoid this hostel if you can.

I only stayed here for 1 night but that night was very pleasant. Check in was smooth, (it did take a while) and the staff were lovely. The room was clean and very nice. Location isn't in the main centre but there is a massive train station about 7 min walk away so it's easy to get places. Overall, I would stay again and would recommend it!

We had a pleasant stay, the location was very convenient for us since we arrived late to the airport so taking a train to the train station and staying here was the perfect option. Although, there were many people (mainly high school students) nearby our room and made noises on and off during the whole night, so I woke up around 3am and then again around 7am since my sleep is light and the sound isolation of rooms is not very good. Thank you!

Good price and location for passengers transferring in Vienna. Very close to the central railway station so that it's easy to the airport as well. The only pity is that the bin in the room is not cleaned in time, and when I checked in at c.a. 5:30 pm, it was full.

Excellent location, esp. for me, an individual traveller. Waited a bit too long at the reception for check-in so it's better to do advance check-in online next time. Highly recommend for family, group and individual for your trip to Vienna.

It was easy to reach it and it is near to the bus station. The rooms were clean and all was good until an issue took place. I was staying at a female dorm for 3 nights, upon getting to my room on the last night, I found out a guy in the room and upon asking the reception, they said it is not a female dorm (don’t know how!!) as I do confirm on this point while checking in and I am the one who made the reservation so I am sure that I booked a female dorm. So, I’ve moved to another room that is female dorm but it was empty so, I found out a guy knocking on the door and upon getting back to the reception again, they said they were changing shifts and they didn’t handover that this room has been occupied as a female dorm.

For the price it was okay. The room was tiny, it wasn’t cleaned properly and there weren’t any sheets on the beds. However it was really cheap and close to the train station and city centre. Reception was friendly, they provided us with a new room with adequate bedding. You can get continental breakfast if you pay extra for it, it was marvellous for the price. If you’re willing to sacrifice your comfort for a better price this is definitely for you! In conclusion it’s completely fine if you stay for a maximum of 3 days, longer than that may be uncomfortable.

Review based on a twin bed room Pros: *Location is perfect. *Price is fair. *Rooms are clean. *Nice staff *Good breakfast *A good meetingpoint Cons: *3 euro for 1/2 liter of sparkling water *The beds are very bad *Lights in the room are awfull (very bright white) *clogged shower drain *Looks to me that homeless people are sleeping in the lobby *8 euro for 24 hour locker, while HBF has lockers for 4,5 euro *noisy rooms *no mattress covers only moltons

Everything was excellent, young and nice staff, ready to welcome you nicely. I stayed for two nights and didn't have any problems. It's right outside the station too. Nice stay, recommend it

Sort out the staffing levels. The two who did all the work deserve some help from the management. Apart from the 40 minute wait to check in and the missing sheets, coffee machine that semi worked and the absolute know heads who blasted music from their room at 12:30. Ohhh yea the dog who was fighting his own shadow at 01:00. Its a great place. BTW do go to the train station car park - costs 8 euros vs 25 per 24 hours or reserve outside for 9 euro. But you need to have magic to get the reservation for that

The cleaning isn't done properly. I saw one of the cleaning ladies wipe the sink and the mirror with one of my used towels from the floor, plus the space underneath my bed is FULL of dust and something that looks like bread crusts. They only "clean" the surface, but not the nooks and crannies, which is a problem, since just because I can't see the dust, doesn't mean it's not there, plus I can still inhale it. Another problem is that there's no air conditioning or any sort of way to cool yourself down. It's 30 degrees outside, and you're trying to sleep? That can't be helped, sorry. The food wasn't very good, but for a hostel it's okay. One problem, though, with the buffet was the cleanliness (again). The plates and cutlery often had grease marks, and the drink selection tablet was almost never wiped off and so it was always super greasy. I get that it's a hostel, and you can't expect much, but hygiene is a MUST! Oh, and this is not a complaint, just a tip: if you ever serve fried cheese for dinner again, you can bring back the jams from breakfast into the buffet because they go really well with cheese.

I booked this place because it was really close to the Central Train Station. I traveled with two children and we got a 4 bed room. It was nice, spacious and quite bare. :) The most fun part was listening to some youngsters coming home from partying at around 3am (which I expected). All in all, this was a good place for us to stay for the night before a flight from Vienna airport.

Friendly but not too efficient staff. Breakfast is good and liked the big selection of food very much. 6-bed room was ok and relatively spacious, but there is no space to put (hang) your clean cloths in the bathroom. Outdoor relaxing area is also nice to use.

Cheap but neat and tidy. Big choice of rooms. Big building. Quite busy at evenings so sometimes waiting at the bar is long. Lounge has some games (pool, table soccer). Close to the subway and the city center. Overall very good place to spend a few nights in Vienna for a reasonable price. And dogs are allowed! Parking is very limited and you need to book upfront (however a very few places available) but there is one belonging to neighbour hotel. Not a cheap parking though! Overall very good stay.

bad and dirty Good location, was really cool for one day trip. In hostel not only students and youth, but also some workers, which can sleep during the day, and back to sleep drunk, creat mess out of everything. And crazy loud. So my only night I spend almost without sleep. And yeah, bathrooms are crazy hairy and dirty. In the morning one new girl entered the room and it was no free and clan bed for her. I even don't know if I had included breakfast. I just wanted to leave this place. So... Location is nice, all other stuff could be better, please be informed. On other hand there are a lot of yong partying people at night at lobby...

There was a huge group of Italian students doing a high school trip. They didn't respect the silent time between 10pm and 6am, which is a rule of this hotel chain. On the first day they were extremely noisy (shouting on the corridors) at 3 am and we couldn't sleep. We had to go down and speak with the receptionist and security to make them solve the problem. It was terrible, the hotel should be responsible for making the rules be respected without the need of the complains from guests, this was totally irresponsible and ruined our first day in the city. We paid a hotel price for a private room but the experience is worse than a respectable hotel, so I don't recommend anybody to come here. There are many better options in the same area

  • 3/5 bruno p. 2 years ago on Google
It is not in the center. We had to do long queue for check-in. The lobby was full even the covid was still there. Not a especial young atmosphere in the lobby. The staff was not super-nice. The kitchen was the worst thing, it was so dirty, almost impractical and with rotten food in the kitchen. The best part was the room , well equipped and our roommates were two 25-years-old girls who were nice to us.

Not like picture shown ! It’s a per bed room you could share your room with many people. Do not recommend plumbing also does not work.

The hotel is 2 minutes away from Vienna Hauptbahnhof. The online check in and picking up the keys at the reception went smooth. The check in time at 15:00 is quite late though. We had a twin room on the fourth floor. The room was big enough for a few days, the beds were comfortable, the room was clean and they also have amenities in the bathroom (hand soap and shower gel). We went to our room after checking in and all of a sudden our door gets opened. Apparently the cleaning lady came in without knocking. This was a bit of a shock. They gave us a room right in between 2 big groups of teenagers (I think they were high school students). The entire night they were slamming the door and screaming in the hallways. I don’t mind that they host big student groups but please don’t assign your guests a room in the middle of them. I had to get up during the night asking them to be quiet. This screaming and door slamming happened on both nights. On the last day we were getting ready in the morning. All of a sudden another time a cleaning lady opened our door and walked in without knocking on our door. This was half an hour before the checkout time!

Clean and spacious room. Lovely breakfast (what you get in German speaking countries). What I liked was that the place seemed like a shelter that took everyone in (contrasted with hotels who take people with money). What I didn't like that there was smoking outside and I could smell it a bit in my ground floor room.

  • 4/5 Martin H. 4 months ago on Google
Great location within walking distance to the Vienna main station. A bit hidden but once you find it, it's convenient. The main entrance can be improved though, hard to climb on stairs if you have many luggage with baby. Other than that, good price for its location and services.

At first I little worried about reading the comments about this property, but turns out this is amazingly excellent for budget hotel. Everything is clean, and reception staff are helpful. We had a very nice stay at a&o Wien Hauptbahnhof during 28th of December and 1st of January. We had a booking for two double rooms, close to each other. However, on our arrival (which was one hour after midnight), the staff at the concierge did not find two double rooms close to each other, so they upgraded us (for the same price as in the booking) to two 4-bedded rooms. The rooms were very spacious, clean and quiet, with very comfortable beds, and so we enjoyed our stay. The staff was also kind to let us have a small Silvester party in a corner of the lobby, together with some other friends that were also staying at a&o Wien Hauptbahnhof.

This is a party hostel. It is loud. Pretty terrible place. The room is drab with a computer monitor as a tv. The Lay-out to get to the room is ridiculous. Spend a bit more for a nicer place.

If you are a traveller on the go and do not have problems with having more people in your room then this is your place in Vienna. You share a room with 6 people, room have separate toilet and bath. Just bring your own locks. Breakfast buffet is good at minimal price but nothing fancy. Make sure to come early. Check in takes time at night time so make sure to come early.

The position of the hostel is ideal in a big city like Wien. However, the room and the service were not the best. When we arrived only 2 out of 4 beds were ready and they provided us only towels for two people. Moreover, the shower was completely clogged, which made it impossible to take proper showers. We stayed only 2 nights and spent most of the days outside visiting the city, so in the end it was ok. The guys at the reception were really kind and helpful.

Great place to stay for a quick visit to Wien. Not the most fashionable place, but you get what you pay for. Cheapest stay in Wien probably. Recommended. The breakfast was OK. The room was spacious and clean, but we had to put linnen on our own beds. The bathroom had seen better days, but was totally usable.

I would also give 1 star, staff is less educated than a kid of 5 year old. Ignoring the guest, just to begin with we we're trying to use the pool to play, they ignored us for more than 20 minutes, VERY RUDE staff on Saturday night 30/10/2021, they guy even said: "tell them your shift is over and go out" They come into the room but just to check into your personal stuff, worst place I've ever been!!! And I would recommend anyone to search for a better place in Vienna I'm surprised this place is still even open with the kind of service they provide, Racists staff that see you as a foreign and rather talk to just german clients.!! Amazed there's still people like that. WORST PLACE TO STAY ON VIENNA ALWAYS

We were given a family room even though we were only 2 guests. We were happy about it since the space was larger. Room was clean and tidy. Service is good. They have 24hrs reception. However, the location was quite noisy. There were a lot of drunk people shouting outside the hotel. On the good side, it is near the central station, so quite convenient as well.

I was sleeping one night in Vienna in this hotel/hostel. It is minimalistic, clean aesthetics, with the bar next to the reception. For me, personally good, you have everything you need. Breakfast had a few options, so you won’t leave hungry. Overall, I would book room again here.

My first stay here. Will definitely stay again. The front desk staff extremely friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced "single " rooms. Not to far from a lot of places to see in Vienna. I walked everywhere. Good prices with clean comfortable rooms.

Negatives: - very loud doors in the hall that wake you up or disturb you when someone uses them - housekeeping came at 8:30 which for us was still very early and expected it around noon as it is in most accommodations. Positives: Affordable for students, very close to the train station and city center. Room was very clean and the reception crew knew English well. No extra bedsheets were needed to purchase - as we thought due to previous reviews.

I went to the hotel in the middle of summer and was told there is no AC and a fan is at extra cost... Ended up staying there for 2h before taking a cold shower, vacating the room and going to a different hotel. In general the rooms seem reasonably tidy but all the furniture was cheap and nasty. The noise was also quite prominent and there were a lot of people going about the place.

Not neat. Normal rooms. Wanted to move to another hotel but was not possible. Too much noise from the students . We booked the hostel because most places where full or had high prices for the Easter. Moreover we wanted a place close to the main station. Better to spend a good money for a good service than conforming. Like it mentioned it is a hostel and mainly good for students or large groups of tourists. If you are a small family with kid/s I don't recommend it. The receptionists are very nice and polite.

Cheap & Cheerful hostel a stone's throw from the central station. Almost no security in the lobby, so there are always vagrants and dodgy people using the facilities. Didn't get bummed or robbed, so a decent place to stay for a weekend visit or if you have an early flight.

I have booked a bed in a room only for women, but the second night came a man. He snored so loudly that the girl beside me sighed again and again. Another girl chatted on video, so long and so loud, as if she alone lived in one room. Finally, the girl beside me shouted at her, and then she turned down a little. HORRIBLE! The locker costed 6 euros per day. But once you need to open it during these 24 hours, chances are that you have to pay another 6 euros. It is said that it is free to open within 2 minutes. Except for the cheap price and the great location, there is really nothing positive I can say. Sorry!
