The Vermahlungsbrunnen is a fountain in Hoher Markt, dedicated to the marriage of the Virgin Mary. It’s one of the most unusual dedication in Christian iconography I can think of, and the fountains is as monumental as it is unusual. It also strange that the fountain is more of a monument than a fountain as water takes up very little of the fountain. The fountain depicts the marriage of Mary to Joseph underneath a circular colonnade of four columns, with angels standing guard at each of the columns. This fountain is worth a look as there are also several monuments, museums and other attractions close by.

One of the interesting things to see at Hoher Markt is the Marriage Fountain (Vermählungsbrunnen), an 18th-century Baroque style fountain and statue arrangement situated in the centre of the square. Here you can see an allegorical composition of figures made of white marble. In the centre is a priestly figure overlooking a man and woman touching hands. There are four columns supporting a decorative bronze crown-like structure above them. Fountain basins were expectedly empty during my early March visit. Note: Another interesting attraction to view at Hoher Markt is the Anker Clock on the south end of the square. This is an elaborate early 20th-century clock that is also enjoyable to see when spending time in this area of Vienna.

The Marriage Fountain, located close to the Anchor Clock in Vienna's historic old town, is a very beautiful sight and definitely worth recommending to us

Although the Vermählungsbrunnen translates into English as "wedding fountain", it is a monument in the form of a votive column, which was erected by Emperor Leopold I in honor of St. Joseph for the safe return of his son from the siege of the stronghold at Landau during the war of the Spanish succession.

The "Vermählungsbrunnen" or Wedding Fountain on the Hoher Markt Square in Vienna is the centre. The erection of the fountain is linked with a promise that Emperor Leopold I made in 1702: His son Joseph (the later Emperor Joseph I) had left to participate in a siege of the Fortress of Landau; the Emperor swore that he would donate money for a fountain with a religious display.

Right next to the Anker clock, doesn't show much on the map. From Wikipedia: The Marriage Fountain (named after the depicted scene of the marriage of Mary and Joseph by the high priest ; also: Josefsbrunnen )

The wedding fountain is a very beautiful attraction which is located just two blocks from the St. Stephen’s Cathedral. I suggest you combine it with the Ankeruhr Clock which is beside and go at 12 noon.

It is a very beautiful fountain in a great location, you can visit nearby museums, see the Vienna clock, go for a walk in the square or stroll through the streets and souvenir shops. The fountain is well cared for but unfortunately the mesh prevents the photos from looking delicate.
