young lady staff working on 10jun 4pm very rude and arrogant. she ask us to order big size of beer but i order small size cause i was quite full. however she brought big one and throw beer mat on the table. she said she didnt mean to bring big one and just let me take it. im not sure her boss make her do this or not. It was first experience someone throw beer pad and bring wrong one and never say sorry. Boss need to teach her how to act like a human.

Beautiful café with outdoor seating, however, I encountered probably the worst attitude from staff I ever have in Vienna. The waiter with glasses didn't give a single damn about anything really. He was rude to us and other customers and basically threw the coffee at the table rather than gently serving it. Horrific. Cash only.

I suspect this establishment harbors racial biases, a sentiment they subtly imposed upon us. Our wait for the menu extended to 15 minutes, which, while understandable in a bustling Vienna café, did not excuse the disdainful glares and discourteous treatment we received. Following this prolonged wait, the waiter, a middle-aged individual with a somber demeanor, finally presented us with the menu. However, our frustration only grew as another 20 minutes passed, during which he promptly attended to newcomers conversing in German. This disparity in service led me to believe that either the café or perhaps the waiter himself harbors prejudiced attitudes. Frankly, if we,as foreigners, are unwelcomed, they can said that directly and it would save time for both parties.

Nice and cozy small place. Unfortunately the service has been awful: - overpriced and unfair: we paid 23€ for one omelette, one cappuccino and one small orange juice (0.2l) - they did not accept cards, only cash - we waited more than 30 minutes (!) to get the items above - the young waiter with dark hair was extremely rude and unpolite - we felt absolutely not welcome in the place

The most horrific service that I have ever seen, when the waiter outside saw us, he made a “disgusted” face as if he doesn’t want to serve us, when he dropped the menu he didn’t welcome us and said “cash only” with an annoyed voice, then we waited for over half an hour for him to get our order but when he never showed up we stood up to leave and that’s when he came to get our orders. We said we were leaving. As a foreigner don’t ever approach this place, especially the waiter outside because he is racist as hell.

It’s the coziest cafe in Vienna. It’s located in a small square. The vibe is gonna make you feel like you are in Italy. Great to visit in day and night time. The drinks and snacks are so nice. Our waiter Thomas was the best! He was so genial, friendly and talkative. He made sure that we were comfortable.

A really lovely spot with delicious food for a good price. We had one sandwich each and shared them - they were great and I was surprised by the lard one which was delicious. The cakes were also 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽. The only thing I didn’t like is that the waiters weren’t very friendly and they didn’t accept cards.

Excellent service, food served with authentic Italian flair and full of delicious content. Great, good looking coffee, and surprising deserts. Nice decor. Worth a visit!

The place has its unique atmosphere, guys working there are great. Nice drinks, little food (see the menu attached). In the evening they had no eggs, which was kind of expected. A lot of people come and go, still had a chance to get a place) Coffee was good On another visit loved Apérol spritz, quite strong. If you are for an unusual shot - ask the barmen for a "Mad Dog")

Reading the reviews about this place makes me think that people, you should chill out a little and don’t take things for granted, instead, be open, talk to people, be nice! Today we visited this lovely/iconic place. At the very beginning we found out there is no lactose free milk (oh well, my life is ruined) the coffee was very good, I especially liked to observe a gentleman making the coffee and adding thick foam with the spoon. The waiter, oh my, he looked so ignorant and unfriendly as some reviews might say, but actually this gentleman was running back and forth to serve all the tables in three different directions. By the way, his name is Daniel and he is very friendly and caring. Recommend to try the Frankfurtern sausage, both types of mustard are very good and hand carved horseradish was also a good match next to the fresh bread and butter. Definitely will return while my stay and enjoy a bread with fresh chives. Be kind to people around you, you never know what they’re carrying.

Don’t know what the good reviews are about no customer service, wasps all over the place. I was stung badly by a wasp, ended up spilling my drink on myself, they didn’t even offer help to clean up the place or give us replacement drinks. When i told him i was stung by a wasp, the waiter was emotionless no sympathy, couldn’t even offer an ice cube to soothe the pain. After 10 mins they came to collect money from us, we didn’t even have a sip of our drinks. Utterly rude, impolite and lacking general courtesy. Kleines sheiss !!

You don’t come here for the food (below average) or even the coffee (ok). You come for the amazing square, the wooden bar, the tiny tables, the atmosphere and the cinematic reference (Before Sunrise was filmed here). People sit REALLY close to one another which boosts social interactions. It’s a cool alternative to Vienna’s grand cafes and the service is always top notch, polite and friendly.

Great recommendation by a local, not too touristy. Super cosy and down too earth. Try their Sachertorte. Tap water refills were a nice touch. Cash only!

Visited to have a bite to eat. This is an old bar, really good interiors and atmosphere. Staff felt like they had worked there a long time and were really friendly and efficient. Beer is pretty standard but fits the place. Had two wiener sausages. It was served with some dark bread, grated cheese and two kinds of mustard. For a simple bar plate it was very tasty. And the spicy mustard really hit the eyes. Recommended.

Very good location. However, Aperol Spritz that we ordered was absolutely bad. It had more soda, which made it absolutely tasteless. The price doesn't fit the bare minimum of Apesol Sprits. It is very disappointing that places that are centrally located don't care about the quality of their products and service.

Cute and popular place, gets very busy, especially in summer with lovely outdoor seating. Nice staff (to customers who speak German), but honestly I was really disappointed with the coffee, burnt and bitter, typical old-school Viennese Kaffeehaus, which hasn't yet caught up with the third-wave coffee culture in this city. It's a pity, and €4,10 for a bad coffee will mean i'll avoid this place in future.

Great food, wine and of course the cafe and the ambience just great. Not too big but just "cozy". We will definitely be back. A Viennese and a Swiss. A very cozy restaurant. The staff was very nice and polite and always smiled heartily despite the really warm weather. The cappuccino was just right as well as the location of the restaurant. Due to the fact that the small café is located in a peaceful and quite area, I was able to enjoy my visit to have some me-time in Vienna.

(Translated by Google) Very nice place to have a drink or nice meal. Egg meal is exactly as shown in the photo. The owner and the other staff are incredibly nice and just fill up your glass of water even if the rest is already used up. You can read all the newspapers there, German as well as New Yorker, and then with such a great old standard that keeps the newspaper straight. Nice jazz music in the background. Highly recommended! De eigenaar en het andere personeel is ontzettend aardig en vult je glas water gewoon bij ook als de rest al op is. As a fan of the "Before" series I had to stop in, and was actually pleasantly surprised. It's cozy (complete with requisite international newspapers), the prices are decent and it was not at all touristy or pretentious despite its fame. The service was great too. Being Sunday morning it was particularly peaceful, and you could hear snippets of the organ from the nearby Franciscan church. It's summer and all the shady outdoor tables were taken, but it was just as nice sitting inside by the door. The menu is mostly drinks and light café food, a good place to snack and linger. I would certainly return.

A nice café with outdoor seating perched in a picturesque square, just minutes from Stephansdom. Hard to get the table though as they always seem to be fully occupied :/ Coffee itself is good but not great, the location is the real added value.

Kleines Café, literally “small café,” is a modern Viennese classic and a must-see if you manage to get a seat! It lives up to its name and is a very small place indeed. Opened in 1970, the cramped interior was designed by architect Hermann Czech. Outside, on the terrace on Franziskanerplatz, there’s a lovely Italiana piazza-style atmosphere. They offer nice snacks with that. You might recognize the café from the movie Before Sunrise by Richard Linklater.

Good cappuccino and apfelstudel, served by a friendly staff, in a genuine setting. Went on a weekend morning and could enjoy the calm of the place (not many customers that time). The downside for me is, as many reviews here pointed out, the smoking inside, which subtracts a lot from enjoying the place. But as that comes with the setup of this cafe, it's up to you how you want to approach it.

I was going to give them three stars only after my first visit since I didn't like the ratio of food taste/price, plus service at that time. However, since I liked the atmosphere very much, I came back here for my morning coffee. Five stars this time but for the lovely coffee and friendly service (different person). So, I will recommend this small place with an amazingly cosy atmosphere in the heart of beautiful Vienna to spend some time enjoying a quality coffee. Will definitely come back again (but for coffee).
