Can’t recommend this place at all. Rude and arrogant waiters, no alternatives for cow milk in the coffee, no credit or debit cards accepted: cash only. Austria seems to be some decades behind many countries. At least they have managed to ban smoking inside of restaurants also decades later than others. Awful.

Very disappointing! Unfortunately the place didn’t accept card payment but that would have been ok if we got the things we ordered. We didn’t get the food we ordered. I had an espresso and then a breakfast. The breakfast came with any drink and I asked if I could add my espresso to it and was told “no you have to have another drink”

Daughter's people having lunch in a traditional Viennese cafe! A lot of people in a big space, but the staff are very attentive to their customers! The food tasted good and was tasty and affordable lunch food. It's a shame that only cash is used for payment.

After two visits this place became my favourite cafe in Vienna. Excellent cakes and snack but also full on meals as well. Very unpretentious. No doubt I'll be back, the serious, moody looking waitors can't put me off!

The gnocchi was incredible! Very filling and some of the best I’ve had. The atmosphere was relaxed; perfect spot if you want to sit and read for a few hours. Lots of options on the menu too, so I guarantee you’ll find something you’re craving.

A typical classic Austrian cafe (along with its grumpy waiters, lol). I came alone in the morning for breakfast; after sitting outside for 1-2 minutes, I decided to sit inside because the weather was quite hot. I sat there for some time, given the menu, but no one bothered to ask what I wanted to drink. I called once twice; everyone seemed very busy. Surprisingly there was a local man came and sat next to me, and the waiter asked him directly 😀 so obviously, his coffee came earlier than mine. However, there are also friendly servers, the brunette and the short hair blonde ladies, who ask if everything is fine. I ordered an omelette, croissant with salad, and a cup of melange. Croissant wasn't fluffy or warm, or maybe that's the speciality; omellete needed to cook a new one because there were some of its shells inside 😀

The service here was excellent. We were attended by a on older server, who was very charming and polite. Coffee was good, I had cake, which was way to sweet for my taste. The only unfortunate thing, if you debate on visit, is the fact, that the whole restaurant is outdatedly dirty. But even though, we enjoyed the classic atmosphere of Vienna Coffee house.

An art deco jewel. I loved everything about my visit here. The waiter said it will close permanently in late 2023 so try to enjoy a visit there soon!

Good location Delicious coffee Low score due to the rudeness of the waiter Shouted at us for playing cards while waiting for our order to arrive There are better places nearby Try Café Schwarzenberg instead. That is 10/10

Sacher cake was great, soft and the sweetness was at the right balance. Not as dry as the one from Hotel Sacher. Service was friendly, for Viennese standards. Apart from that it's a little bit loud, maybe because they had a band playing, and the surcharge for whipped cream (1,50 Euro) is a bit too much for my taste.

What a lovely place. So quirky. A relaxing atmosphere. Lots of people relaxing, reading a paper and enjoying a drink. Cakes looked amazing. I had a sausage dish (can't remember the name), very nice.

Have your fill of Viennese breakfast, coffee, cake, and history. Located in a particularly magnificent building near the Stubentor, the former eastern gate of Vienna, this café has existed since the turn of the century. Here you can experience the well-known Viennese coffeehouse culture – which was included in the list of intangible UNESCO cultural heritage in November 2011! It's so traditional, they still just accept only cash payment. But while it may be a slight inconvinience, the excellent service more than makes up for it.

Came on a food tour and enjoyed the introduction to the Austrian cappuccino 'Melange' and incredible apple pie. Highly recommend! Great professional staff, however the building could use air conditioning.

If you want to get the local experience I think this is the place I felt immersed. We order beer, sausage and meat balls everything was delicious. The mashed potato was particularly good tbh. Make sure you got cash because they don’t take card payments. There’s also a variety of desserts

Lovely and civilised way to start the day with breakfast in a tastefully designed cafe. Served in the usual serious and prompt method one expects in Vienna and the waiters seem overworked, but still deliver a comfortable service. Note its a cash only establishment, but they were kind enough to direct me to the nearest cash point. Highly recommended to view one of the old cafes in Vienna from the 1900s.

My friend, who I have not spoken at length in person for almost 5 months, brought me here to catch up and chat. This is my first traditional Viennese coffee house and I love it. First things first: Cafe Prückel is located in a touristy part of Vienna and this cafe is basically an institution in the city given how old it is so it is always bustling with people here. Better have a reservation to avoid waiting. The reservation can be done online now. Second, the food and the cake is good and priced well: I got a klare rindsuppe mit frittaten, a kleine apfelsaft gespritz. I got chocolate cherry cake which was a bit dry but the cream on top of it was delicious. This is all 13 euros which I think is very reasonable. Third: cafe ambiance is nice - high ceilings, vintage decor, and some tables with couches. I found the people reading actual paper-based newspapers to be a charming sight and so nostalgic. Fourth: I always got the impression that staff in traditional Viennese coffee houses are grumpy but that is absolutely not the case here in Café Prückel. Our server was a charming older man who I found to be polite and accommodating. One can also sit for a long time in this cafe. My friend and I chatted for 3 hours, and it was all good. Fifth: I have no idea if cashless payments are allowed here. We paid by cash. I highly recommend Café Prückel!

Comparing to other wienna cafes this one looses a bit. Waiters are very busy, you might need to wriggle a bit otherwise waiting for a waiter might take 20min or so. The cakes and coffees are alright. Furniture is a bit shabby, just shabby without charm unlike in some other places.

Feel transported back to the 1950's and 1960's. A truly authentic, mid-centrury vibe where the tables, chairs, booths, curtains and even the tuxedo-clad waiters have not changed since! Read about it's history, relax with a Viennese café, a beer, a strudel, something to read, or bring a group for some great conversation like the artisans of a time past.

The cafe was recommended to me by my hotel proprietor when I asked where I could get the best "Apfelstrudel" (apple strudel) locally, and he was most enthusiastic recommending Café Prückel. I was not disappointed. The place was quite packed, mostly with local people (a good sign), but I was lucky to get one of the last tables. The apple strudel was amazing, and a bit unexpectedly, with a huge whipped cream topping. Normally that would be too rich for me, but when in Vienna.... I also opted for a speciality Maria Theresia coffee - which is a large black coffee with orange liqueur - quite delicious, but in combination with the strudel and the whipped cream it was too sweet. The cafe also offers cakes to go, which I took advantage of. The only scary moment came at the end when the bill arrived and I found out that the cafe does not accept credit cards. The waiter was kind enough to say that there is a cash machine in a shop next door, but luckily i had just enough cash left on me (not yet spent on Viennese Christmas souvenirs), to be able to pay the bill. Afterwards I looked around and saw that there had been a small notice saying that the place is cash only, but for poor tourist sake it could have been stated more obviously in English with large capital letters :).

An authentic coffee restaurant, time has stood still. Food is ok, staff is semi formal. When you would like to get a feeling of an authentic atmosphere and being part of a time capsule just try it. It's anyhow quite

Great atmosphere.. some people relaxing reading newspapers while others work on their laptops. A must to see. They were out of omelettes this morning :( but had eggs?? I had the eggs and bacon with bread . The eggs were great. The fork brought with the tray served was dirty. Cappuccino is not as creamy as I would expect.

Our starting point for walking clockwise around the Ring. This old-school cafe operates like a well-oiled machine, with impeccable and efficient service. Our table was tiny but the server cleverly stacked the plates and bread baskets. People read the paper with newspaper sticks. Try the viennese coffee and their signature breakfast (fresh bread rolls with butter and jam, with a soft boiled egg). Pay with cash!

One of the grand, old great Cafes of Vienna that has retained its charm and authenticity. Used to love to come here as a local and before moving away. Hard to find a place to sit, unless you are there right at the time of opening :). With a bit of patience also doable later in a day. I love to come back here every once in a while.

Love ❤️ the vibe here, it’s like you traveled back in time in 50s-60s. Need reservation to get in quicker.

Greate 50s vibe. Good coffee, good cake. I do not know od this was just momentary problem but i couldn't pay by card (cash only). Anyways must visit when on Vienna.

Although there were a lot of tourists, the place still keeps a local vibe. I liked the newspapers on a stick like in the old world. The downside is that they did not hear about that new invention called credit cards.

Gorgeous Wiener Kaffeehaus in the heart of Vienna. Excellent place to have a quiet cup of coffee and a Viennese pastry. They also have traditional breakfast which was ok although not my favourite in the city. ;)
