👍👍 Café Ritter Ottakring is a nice and friendly coffeehouse. The interior has somehow miraculously been preserved in its traditional turn-of-the-century beauty. I enjoy their coffee and food, especially the classic Viennese breakfast with two soft-boiled eggs in a glass, and breakfast is served all day... Café Ritter Ottakring is a nice and friendly coffeehouse. The interior has somehow miraculously been preserved in its traditional turn-of-the-century beauty. I enjoy their coffee and food, especially the classic Viennese breakfast with two soft-boiled eggs in a glass, and breakfast is served all day. Even if you just want to take a look at the authentic interior, it’s well worth a trip.

Another fab old-school viennese cafe near Ottakring...nothing to do with the Cafe Ritter off Mariahiferstrasse. Julius Meinl coffee and teas are the order of the day here. One sip of my melange and I'm in heaven! The drinks menu, whether alcoholic or non-alcoholic is extensive, with more than 20 types of tea on offer, and there's a daily lunch menu on offer too for under €9. Check out the chilled cake cabinet too if you're after something sweet. Out back there's a chess room where locals gather to play each other on a rainy day such as today.

Had some chicken schnitzel here that was decently good. Restaurant is very nice inside and prices aren't too bad either. The biggest downside was trying to flag down our waiter to pay.

Typical Viennese coffee house with plentiful breakfast options. My husband had an English breakfast and I went for the salmon breakfast. Both were decent, but the amount could have been more generous. They have a small play area for toddlers and quite a few children's books. The service was decent and fast.

2018: It took 30 minutes to get someone to take our order. I asked for extra whipped cream on my coffee, but it came identical with the one my friend had ordered. I insisted and got more - however, it was neither a lot nor was it a solid heap but rather a flimsy foam. The place itself is pleasant, sticking to Viennese coffeehouse tradition, and the pastry - despite the rather limited selection - was fine. Update 2021: Really rich breakfast selection; I appreciated the difference between the vegetarian and vegan options - each one unique and tempting! What can be said about a traditional Viennese Café that hasn't been said, yet? The white noise of chatting, eating, relaxing, working, flirting people in their cozy booths; the extra high ceilings and walls covered in somewhat cheesy art-déco paintings (but one is in a forgiving mood once the coffee has been served)... The staff, friendly and squeaky clean - and somewhat embarrassed because my first two orders (Chai Lattes) weren't available. So a cafe latte had to do, and it did a fine job. Impressive: the selection of teas available, each with a description a high-end wine could be proud of. The Covid measures are being followed - friendly, but uncompromisingly. Good for you! A bit annoying: for tracking purposes, this place hasn't discovered the benefits of an app, yet - the guests are handed an A4 form to fill in their data. The wide range of painstaikingly arranged newspapers is impressive - most German, some Swiss, all Austrian papers are present and waiting for the avid reader with tons of free time. My vegetarian breakfast had a big, ripe half avocado with a soft boiled (and peeled) egg where the pit used to be. Lovely presentation! I did wonder how I would eat it without making a horrible mess (a spoon hasn't been provided), but since the soft boiled egg was perfect, I was able to eat the white off from around the patiently waiting yolk. The toast was toasted, but unfortunately cold and hard/chewy. Too bad; the lovely butter with chives could make up for it only partly. My companion ordered a Ritter Frühstück which came on a cute three-tiers-stand. These people know how to make soft boilded eggs, indeed! Since my sweet tooth was still achy, despite the lovely apricot jam that came with the Ritter Frühstück (which also included an excellent orange juice), I ordered a Birnenkuchen. The Mürbteig was, indeed, very mürb, the filling nice and providing the necessary counterweight of moist sweetness. The cooler, however, where the pastry is being stored and presented, is doing too good a job: my cake was so cold that parts of it had an almost frozen mouthfeel. I could have stayed much longer than my time allowed... this place makes me sigh with relief and find calm in challenging times.

The place looks nice, prices are fair, the variety on the menue is okay but the cakes they had were a bit sad (they just didnt look that great). One thing that really bothered me - we asked the waiter about a cake, what is it, what is inside? He said - sorry I dont know. I thought that was very strange, should you maybe ask someone? Check for us? What do you mean you dont know? Who are we supposed to ask?

We liked the eating and the ambience in a traditional vienna "Kaffeehaus". Maybe some background music would have made it even better. The eating (Fenchelsuppe, roter Linsensalat und Eiernockerl) was also good and met our expectations. Furhtermore we tried rotes Zwickl of Ottakringer which tasted also fine. Normally the Café is for breakfast and coffee and cake, but we can also recommend eating for lunch/dinner here. There is not a lot of choice but what you can find is good viennese cuisine. We would definetly recommand Cafe Ritter@Ottakringer Straße.

We love going there for a nice cup of tea and a Sacher Torte. We also appreciate the history of Caffee Ritter.

Truly a hidden gem within Vienna. As it is located a little bit outside of the city center you won't find too many tourists here. Also don't get turned off by the location (directly on a larger street). As soon as you enter you are in another world. The interior is as original as it gets, the staff is very friendly and fast. Food is good and cakes are great. Coffee is also way better than the average bitter brown water you get in most viennese coffeehouses. I wish I lived directly next to it so I could just go downstairs and grab a coffee and breakfast while reading the newspaper.

We are thrilled my this place. It’s so quiet and we’re so lovely. Had a great time, we drunk 3 beer, having one beer each, being three people, one beer each. Great times with great people at a great place. Ottakringer rules!1!1!1!

One of my most favorite places in Vienna. Warm atmosphere and decor, friendly staff and great choices especially for breakfast. It is actually a very family friendly restaurant which makes it even better......

Traditional Viennese coffee house, away from the tourist areas. Surprisingly polite waiters. Good cakes!

A truly classic Vienese café a bit off the beaten path, which is a good thing, because the place is not crowded and virtually tourist-free. The best kaiserschmarrn in town (definitely beats the one at Cafe Landtman). Fantastic service - really nice people. Good food made from fresh ingredients.

Beautiful traditional Viennese Café Restaurant. All the Viennese classics done with the highest quality organic ingredients. Very friendly to families with small children. Highly recommended. Worth the 10 minutes taxi ride from the center of Vienna
