Great museum to visit with kids. Lots of interesting historical facts about Vienna. Well organized and informative. Easy to reach by public transport or car.

Great museum for kids and adults. There are enough interesting information, photos and displayed vehicles for everybody. And the kids will love all the interactive parts of the museum. Unfortunately the metro simulation was not working when we were there, but I'm sure they will fix that soon (if not yet).

We visited this wonderful gem of a museum on a Saturday afternoon and it was not super busy, which was great! We were three adults and three children, so we opted not to have the audio tour this time; the children were excited about visiting each station, some which had interactive portions and most of which had history of Vienna and the creation of the U-Bahn and tramway system throughout the city. It was wonderful to learn about the history of Vienna as seen through the "eyes" of transportation. The children really enjoyed the simulator near the end of the tour, which let them "drive" the U-Bahn subway car through Wien! So fun! If you're a Wiener Linien Jahreskarte holder, show it at entry - you'll receive a discount on the already low cost ticket. :)

Very well organized exhibition with lots of interactive elements including a simulator to drive the U-Bahn at the end. Sadly it's only open 3 days a week and you can only enter one of the underground carriages, everything else is just to see from the outside. But they are in a very good condition and there are all sorts of vehicles to explore.

Great museum providing an interesting insight into the history of public transportation in Vienna. They have a truly wonderful collection. Don't forget to save some time for the last part of the exhibition that shows many fascinating pictures from the building of Viennese subway.

I went there to have fun with friends at the Christmas Market. The place is nice, small, cute and lovely with tasty Christmas sausages, potato puffers and vaffels, and ambiance! Love it 💗

Pretty large museum with a nice collection of old tramways, some information on the subway system. Some interactive exhibits about electricity. Our 3 year old daughter loved it, although it would be nice if they opened up more tramway, so visitors could see the inside. A place with a changing table would also be nice.

An excellent museum with many varied and very informative exhibits. Allow 2+ hours to really enjoy this experience. It is well set out. Information generally in German with shorter English translations. Gives a good overview of transport in Vienna over the years. There is a tram simulator but this was monopolised by children so can't comment on this. There was a children's check list for them to follow round the various stages and punch their answers on the card. Souvenir shop is stocked with appropriate linked items. Recommended.

Really family friendly and informative. If you've fallen for the great public transport here in Vienna then this is definitely worth a visit. If you've paid for the year-card then you get 2 tickets for €7, which is an absolute bargain and we'll worth it. Most of the museum is indoors so it might be something to do on a rate rainy day.

Medium sized collection of old trams from Vienna. You are guided through about 15 small exhibitions through a historic timeline from horse drawn trams through the urban development, electrification, the wars and considerations of getting a subway. About half the information is available in English, the other half only in German.

Interesting museum with history of public transport around the world. Local exposition includes real historical tram you can have a trip on in surroundings of the museum. During Christmas time there is a fair with real time music shows in the hangar. The environment is friendly and pleasant.

Excellent museum on the history of Vienna's public transport system, with a focus on trams. Many of the exhibits had English translation, but not all. However there is a smartphone app you can download which contains audio in several languages which worked very well. A must-visit for all transport enthusiasts.

Great place to learn about history of Wiener public transport. You can see a variety of historic trams and buses from different periods, such as “der Bus aus dem Fluss”, the restored bus which was recovered from the river after bridge collapse, or trams from early 1900s.

Well worth the €8 ticket and I definitely got more than expected. A great display of Vienna’s transport history, and I particularly enjoyed the war-time narrative and the evolution of the uniforms and perception of transportation workers. You can also enter the silver arrow (Vienna’s first u-bahn) with transparent displays and plaques showing some of its internals, including everything in the driver’s cabin. I would also like to appreciate the lady at the entrance who apologised for not having English handouts available but provided them for me on my way out. Thanks for the great customer service! I would’ve rated 5 stars but unfortunately some plaques are only in German. That shouldn’t discourage your visit though as the majority of info plaques are in English as well, and only specific captions like photos and print media are in German only.

If you like trams then you MUST visit. You can't go inside most of the trams which is a shame, and it's hard to view the insides. Some of the signage is also in English, but not consistently. The staff were enthusiastic about the trams, and gave a lot of extra information. Entry was included in the Niederösterreich Card which was a plus.

If you like trams you will love this place. It is unbelievable just how many trams from the past have been saved and exhibited here. More than that, the trams sometimes escape into the real world so the exhibits are not just dead and lifeless

Great place to visit, especially if you like public transport. It's interactive and I saw kids enjoying it too. I don't speak Deutsch, but they had some parts translated into English I enjoyed it, recommend

Loved coming here with my two year old! You can travel through time and see all the old trams and buses! Plenty of interactive infotainment as well! Shame we couldn’t go inside any of the trams, but there is an Ubahn which you can go into and press all the buttons (always fun for kids).

Excellent history of transport in Vienna, best selection of exhibits I have seen set in an old tram storage depot. Reasonable entry cost and well worth the short trip on the subway to get there from the city centre. Highly recommended if you are into transport history.

Great museum about the history of public transportation in Vienna. Very well designed stations with good information, using different media and ways of telling stories. Impressive selection of well maintained trains and cars.

Absolutely fascinating! A huge collection of trams, with some buses, and lots of hands-on activity for kids, including two driving simulators and several exhibits that let you find out with your own hands how things work. If you get lucky, you might even see some old tram maneuvering in the depot. Plus a nice array of photos of old Vienna and its public transport. Time well spent.

Awesome museum, a lot of history and interactions. I loved the physics interactive block about electricity, and it was nice to have a chance come so close to trams to notice how small new details appeared across the time. Bus simulator is funny, but too short :(

Excellent, well signposted displays leading through the years of transport development. A huge number of trams (and the occasional bus) to see. Only disappointment is that you can't board any of the trams. A lot of museums keep one or two exhibits in a condition to walk through and really get a feel for the transport of old.

It was interesting and informative visit to the story of public transport evolution in Vienna. From first one tram to last one. From expensive privilege transport to public social one. Will be interactive for kids also

Very nice Museum about the history of public transport in Vienna. If you are interested in this kind of stuff I can highly recommend visiting. They have lots of old trains and busses there, the museum also gives a nice chronological overview about everything.

This is a fabulous museum for old and young. Great collection of some really beautiful trams and buses. Some brillliant old footage of Vienna and interactive displays for the kids ....the U-bahn driver simulator is a big hit. High recommended.

Great museum for the price, especially if you have a yearly transport pass. The evolution of the public transport system in Vienna is very nicely documented here. You also get a very intimate look at the retired trams. It would be better if we were allowed into some of the old tramcars and if more of the exhibit was translated into English.

Cool museum. You have what to see. Too bad that most of the teams are closed, but, I guess, they want to preserve them. You also have a lot of history and pictures and movies that explain the period and how the times when these were in production looked. Kids also have some things that would teach them about AC and DC, how teams are built and how they function and also a underground train simulator that rates your performance. All in all, a good 3-4 hours well spent.

Mostly dedicated to trams, with little buses on display. Our son is a train lover, but he was out of luck here. There is an interactive booth where kids can drive a tram on a simulator, but it's only one and it gets so busy that you have to wait an hour.

My 2nd visit in 10 years. Very good selection. Beautiful building. They have a nice mix of trams, buses and underground. Interactive displays both good for kids and adults.

Very neat to see the history of tram/subway in Vienna! Not all of the signs are translated into English, but enough to learn a lot. Don't go in the heat of the summer - no AC and very little air flow.

Very good organized museum of (mostly) Vienna's transport. You can push some buttons in real U-Bahn, drive simulator, it just take a look at Vienna's Doppeldecker.

  • 5/5 Harry W. 2 years ago on Google
A must for anyone interested in trams and public transport. For those who speak English, most of the signs are translated.
