Great place. Visited with small kids. There is something for everyone and every age. You can spend hours and hours here and still not get enough. Easy to buy tickets, sevurity boxes to leave your extra things and not to have to carry. Elevators for exhausted visitors or for disabled person. Toilets market and everywhere also for diapers changing. Can't complain at all. Highly recommend

One of the best museum's I have ever visited in my life. Needs atleast 6 hours to get a grab of it. It's huge and the way they have demonstrated the things inside is exceptional. We were short of time so could not spend much time exploring the different sections of the museum. Got entry through Vienna Pass. It's a walking distance away from the Schonbrunn Palace.

I love this museum, enormous and full of practically all the technologies developed in this world. Interactive games are fantastic, they allow you to learn a lot of things while having fun, I must say that I became curious about everything thanks to them. I then discovered that there are laboratories with technologies specifically for creating works thanks to curiosity and imagination, I really liked it🙌🙌. I recommend to anyone to come here.

Exceptional! There are so many well curated zones that you would spend a whole day there. There is something for everyone. The building is stunning in its own right too; the heat in the building does require regulating more as it was nearly 30°C on the top floor! Gift shop reasonable pricing- with some great STEM toys/kits.

The only downside for me was that I could spend only two hours in the museum and I think that two days would have been a better time allocation. That said it was still possible to enjoy the short time I stayed there. The exhibition nicely covered different fields of technology, ages and all was well setup, nothing broken or under construction. After a short while I stopped taking pictures but attached are a few. Surprised to learn that Austria had found use of naval ships I earlier times!

Amazing museum with a lot of things to see and try! 🤩 You will need at least 2-3 hours to visit the entire museum. You’ll find there all sorts of things from a lot of domains: from (ancient) construction systems and the evolution of trains, cars, bikes, motorcycles, boats, planes, to the evolution of medicine, musical instruments and appliances, plus all kinds of small things you use every day (you’ll discover yourself 😁). You have to visit this place! 📍 Technical Museum Vienna, Austria

I would give even 10 from 5 stars ☺️! This place is really awesome! It discovers science from all the sides! Some reviews say that this place is for kids… not at all - I would even say that only 10% of exhibition suits kids. Also note that you may need more than 3h to observe everything! Thank you staff who care all the exhibits and make them so awesome!!!

Great museum, especially for kids! They can touch, play and experiment with so many différents machines! There are two other playgrounds within the museum that costs each 2.50€ more per person (1x adult+1x per kid). Both are worth it. More things to experiment and a 30minutes for the kids to run everywhere and make as much noise as they want. I absolutely recommend it! The restaurant is also surprisingly great with fresh food. As the museum is a green museum, they cannot serve any food that was frozen,! Who would have known?!?!

Museum of Technology is mesmerising, educative and interactive museum with a lot of exhibits of science and technology. The museum is so huge that it literally takes an entire day to explore. Honestly, it is the most informative museum which we ever visited.

A vast space of exhibition of technology in a charmingly monarchic-era building. Quite a few interactive elements for kids to play or power out at. A lot of steam punk charm on the main hall ground floor, going to digital and space age on the upper floors. Often there are exhibitions picking up current contemporary themes. - A Viennese specialty I consider the section on automated or unusual musical instruments, especially keyboards.

as an engineer, I am impressed by this technical museum. One can spend all day here. also, there are some entertaining and interesting activities for kids as well. the museum contain different departments for different technologies and science domains: from aviation to electronics, from big machinery to biology. it is amazing to touch heavy machines producing our electricity. there are some nicely prepared demos showing how different kind of electricity and renewable technology works. there is a section dedicated to fundamental physical principles as well and which old equipment was used to invest famous physical laws. in the media part, you can even shot yourself presenting news in the national television channel. enjoy it :)

One of the best museums I've ever been to. It has a lot to see. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to see everything. You can spend at least 3 hours here. It also had many interactive parts.

Wonderful place to spend a day at. The museum is full of interactive exhibits that kids love. It also has a few plays area upstairs for kids to have fun. We couldn't leave the kids wanted to stay longer. Maybe a good idea to bring a lunch and just eat it at the rest area (they have a cafe, but we didn't try it)

Very interesting and interactive museum, quite close to the U-Bahn Schönbrunn. Guided tours, workshops are proposed, there are spaces for kids. Combinaison of old and recent exhibitions. Under 19 years old it is free. For those you love sciences and you don’t !

One of the most amazing museums I’ve ever been to. It’s lovely and it doesn’t matter if you come alone, with the family or as a kid - you will enjoy it. The place speaks to you and it allows you to take strip back in time and see how things were invented and how they developed. They have trains, electricity, airplanes, cars, animals, space and tons of other exhibits. You can find things that will fascinate you if you are a scenic lover and even if you’re not. The place is well maintained, all exhibits are preserved and open to the public. They have places which are just for kids which is also great. I highly recommend visiting the museum if you are in Vienna.

It was smaller than the Bavarian Technical Museum, but it took 3 hours to see it. Equipped with cafe restaurant and drink vending machine. Large place with various different machines, takes time to see everything. It's really hot there. Little children's playgrounds are quite busy and need extra payment. It's good that only adults buy tickets, under 19s go for free. Vienna city card discount.

Very interesting museum full of content. Interactive displays for kids (and adults). Someone who is in the history of engineering could spend days roaming. On the other hand, it could be renovated, some interactive displays are outdated.

An endless amount of things to see, ranging across several centuries to now. Lots of variety and great plaques with explanations. Some interactive spots as well that were fun to play with and educational . 4 stars is because the staff was not helpful and stern with children.

A very extensive collection of all sorts of technology that one could spend many hours wandering around and exploring. Unfortunately, I was walking around in a bit of a hunger-driven daze and didn't have the energy to try and take it all in. Few other visitors during my corona-times visit.

I would repeat it again: that is what I really love. Excellent science\technic museum, great exhibition. Not as big as for example in London, but very very good one! If you are willing to view all the details and all the materials you will require a half of the day to spend here. It contains a lot if amazing exhibitions covering almost all areas of human engineering. Highly recommend to participate. And you will find good facilities inside, toilets, beverages and snacks, so no problem to spend whole day. As of me it is a not so expensive, cheaper than expected. Thank to the people who keep this place so interesting!

Very interesting museum. Who like technical things can pass a lot of time. Entrance is 16 euro. There are different things from metallurgy, stem engines. Heavy industry on first floor to things used in home car industry motorcycle industry air industry space industry. Really many things to see so you can spend from morning to afternoon or evening your day. Inside museum you have restaurant. For me most interesting was ship industry from steam engines and old ships. Highly recommend for visiting when you are in Vienna

One of the largest and most interesting muyev in which I was. If you want to go around the whole museum, it takes a lot of time, it is better to come 3-4 hours before closing. The history of technology as telephones, cars, vacuum cleaners, trains, etc. is shown. The museum has a cafe where you can have a snack and a shop with souvenirs. We arrived a few hours before the closure and went around the entire museum, only in the end we hurried a little. For children on the 2nd floor (not exactly (only 4 floors)) there is a booth in which you can measure how loudly you shout to everyone I recommend.

  • 4/5 Sanjeev K. 6 months ago on Google
Excellent museum for anyone who is fascinated by technology. The only reason I have given 4 stars (instead of 5) is that explanation for many exhibits is given in languages other than English. This was an even bigger problem for our group when we visited Deutsches Museum in Munich. I hope the authorities take corrective actions so that the museum gives more knowledge to visitors. In any case, I highly recommend this.

I loved every second in there. Very well organized, very large and a lot of space for everything displayed. I would defintely recommend it, a lot of history and a lot to view. You can take pictures as well.

As mentioned in many other reviews: The exposition is simply huge. You can find everything from metalurgy, through communication and multimedia, to the aerospace programme. A large part of the exposition is dedicated to work/employment and issues related to women's employment. I strongly recommend that you spend a whole day there and take a break in the museum's canteen. It is not very cheap, but very nice. On the other hand, the entrance fee is really low compared to the size of the museum. There are toilets everywhere, vending machines on the floors and you can lock your bags next to the entrance. So no complaints about the service. However, I do have a few comments: a) We visited the museum on a hot day and the air inside was quite hot and humid. But I understand that air conditioning such a large building would be expensive. So take some bottles of water with you. b) It would be great to recommend some tours for people who don't want to be there for 4+ hours. (Or did I miss it?) If you are not sure, start at the top. Many people waste too much time on metalurgy, work etc. c) I like the exhibition focusing on employment and especially the position of women. (By the way, the museum emphasises the influence of women in science and technology several times. That's really great and helps to break down stereotypes). It is rather sad that in the middle of this employment exhibition, which focuses on breaking down stereotypes, there is a large wooden manager's desk with a lamp and the description that the vast majority of top management positions are held by men. Although the wording itself is far from objective, we can certainly agree with it. What I find a failure is the second part, where the authors describe that this desk, as well as similar ones, is completely clean because "the real work" is done elsewhere. (Sorry for the abridgment.) The phrase quite deliberately suggests that top managers are some kind of leeches, living off the people who do the 'real work'. As a member of the economics faculty, I dare to argue that such suggestions are a huge misunderstanding of management. As the grandson of a communist prisoner, I'm disturbed. All populist regimes have one thing in common: There is a part of society that is unnecessarily rich, although 'we' do the 'real' work. History clearly shows the consequences. So, It would be great not to create the stereotype that all higher managers are old, lazy, fat guys who just play golf all the time. If we are trying to educate new generations. They should be free of such old stereotypes. But, maybe the museum management is just playing the golf... ;-)

Fun and interactive. I’d suggest to visit this place to all science lovers. Everyone will find something particular for themselves: cars, trains, airplanes, electrodomestics, technology inspired by nature and even musical instruments! If you are a nerd just like me, I’d suggest to spend here at least 4 hours. Otherwise, 2-3 hours will be enough to enjoy this gorgeous place. The only negative side was heat. Almost all windows were closed and there was no air conditioning.

This is a great place both for adults and kids. There are some interesting interactive elements beside the museum collection of things. You could spend here all day long and the ticket is not expensive, 16 euro per person.

So great place with all the history and present of technical evolution of humanity. Lot of activities and experiments explaining how things are working and why. If you can understand the difference between wheel and cube you need to visit this museum.

Fascinating visit. There's so much exhibits on so many different tech-related stuff. From locomotives, welding, iron casting, to modern transport, cars, ships, trains, rockets. And that just the tip of the ice berg. To explore it all you'd need at least three separate visits. I'll be sure to come again :)

A great place to review the evolution of the technology and the different industries, it has nice displays about different machines, mostly engines. A show of the evolution of the different piston engines, and the different types of fuel they used, can be seen. Also the main uses of the engines, such as propulsion of vehicles, or electricity generators. A small part also shows the modern tendency to get non fosil fuels, such as solar energy etc. Very nice to go. It may take more than one day to get good information about all the objects at the museum for those really interested.

  • 3/5 Ján B. 1 year ago on Google
If it was just the exhibitions, my rating would be 5*. They are really great. lots of various topics, lots of interactive examples. you can spend here many hours . But services are something that made my visit quite unpleasant. Only one small restaurant/buffet, where it is almost impossible to find a place to sit. Plus it was not possible to order directly at the bar. The other turn-off was the temperature inside. it was quite hot. Only room with functional AC was the one with musical instruments.

Incredible collection of absolutely everything that you could consider technology. Cellphones, planes, cars, robots, heavy industry, even food. There is actually too much to see. Would recommend planning the trip a little, to decide what you want to see, or setting aside a whole morning and having a coffee in between :)

Huge collection, really very impressive, but unless you are Really interested in the introduced technologies, it becomes quite exhausting after a while. It is more of a "traditional" style museum, not that interactive - mostly objects presented behind glass, with written description (additionally, because of the pandemic situation, some of the few more interactive elements were closed down) I would recommend a visit, but only for those who have a very strong technical interest.

Not great for an 8 year old. Very few interactive exhibits, and the kids play area was quite small with very little to do. The vast majority of exhibits are look and read - great for those that like this type, but not so much for those that are hands-on. My son was bored relatively quickly, and after making a cursory round of the exhibits, we left. Might be good value for those that want to absorb through sight and text; from what I saw, the items and history provided (also in English!) were interesting and well done. Could be very good for adults. However, not a good fit for my son - we won’t be back and won’t bother bringing the 5 year old either. I have seen many more engaging science-type museums.

So many different interactive installations or experiments. You can find anything technical related from all different fields of science. Kids can really enjoy trying different machines. There is caffee and vending machines on all floors for water and juices. Takes at least 3 hours even if you are skipping most of it. You can even see Schonbrunn from the windows. There is a lot of areas to sit and rest.

  • 3/5 Jurgis G. 2 years ago on Google
One of the least interesting technic museums i have visited. There are thousands of items on display, with boring descriptions. A significant amount of interactive items do not work. Those that do, often are poorly explained. Great selection of steam/rail/industrial/engines. If you frequently visit science museums, you will not be impressed.

(Translated by Google) It's quite good, even if I remembered it better from childhood. The scope of the exhibitions is not so overwhelming compared to international pioneers. (Original) Ist ganz gut, auch wenn ich es aus Kindertagen besser in Erinnerung hatte. Die Umfang der Ausstellungen ist halt im Vergleich zu internationalen Vorreitern nicht so überwältigend.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately very disappointing we were there during Corona. Unfortunately there is no security concept at all. You can press a number of buttons and do a lot yourself. Again there are some things that are "not allowed to be used for hygienic reasons" Unfortunately, it doesn't make any sense at all. Everything is attacked and the employees stand their legs in their stomachs instead of regularly disinfecting the "hands-on devices" due to the low workload. You won't find any disinfectant dispensers anywhere in the museum, except in the toilets at the entrance. This is nowhere near enough! In general, I don't like the structure of the museum. Almost half of all devices and screens etc. do not work or are so dirty that you currently don't dare to attack them. And most of it is unfortunately insufficiently explained. In the electricity sector, for example, you can test and look at a lot of devices for storing electricity. How exactly they work and more background information on why, why and why it works, how it works, unfortunately did not exist. Learning factor almost 0! The routing is also sometimes very misleading and does not reveal a coherent concept in the entire museum. Overall, I cannot recommend the museum ...
