Amazing, that it is possible to visit those rooms. But, compared to Versaille, taking pictures are forbidden. (I managed a few). Often the corridors are overfilled, and they allow anyone to go in with their backpacks, which makes people more sweating and leaves less place to go arround each other. Definitely not enough air and too high temperature, which makes the visiting hard for many on those crowded small corridors. Real important value, and the visitor management could be improved a little bit.

Amazing museum. I did not think Inwpuld be interested in the silverware collection but by the end of that section I was totally in awe. The Imperial Apartments are equally as stunning. Must visit!!

It depends on what you are looking for in the museums. Generally I don’t care about royal members’ belongings. There are many plates and silverware, etc. in the first floor. No one told us we can skip that part. It seems like they generally don’t like to respond in English! The architecture was interesting. There were two beautiful dresses and portraits in the palace. Taking pictures was not allowed which I don’t understand why. Anyhow, a fine experience but not my favorite!

I think this is an overpriced and overrated place. It's too hot here, not possible to leave jacket in cloakroom, no places to seat, too many tourists, too narrow corridors. And also it is a pretty short museum for the big price. So, I would probably not suggest to go here, only if you're a big fan of Sissi and imperial tableware.

Visited the Sisi museum/State apartments. You enter through the Sisi Museum. To be honest, she sounds like she was a horrible person. She hated her husband (who adored her), her son (who later committed suicide), and constantly pitied herself (she was the Empress of Austria). She enjoyed spending time away from her family, exercising and getting infusions of IV cocaine (not kidding). The Sisi museum itself was incredibly hot and crowded. The State apartments were fine, fairly standard issue Royal palaces of the period. In retrospect, I wish I had spent this time in the Kunsthistoriches, which needed almost an entire day to see properly.

My experience at Sisi Museum A huge museum in the Vienna city center. A lot of nearby activities as well. Though I should warn you, there isn’t any nearby parking, so I’d recommend either taking an uber or going by foot. In my experience there wasn’t any major wait. Now let’s talk about the tour itself. The staff gives you some kind of device for you to listen to the backstory of the pictures/statues/items of that theme. Which you could listen to in multiple languages. Personally I wouldn’t really recommend the beginning of the ”tour“, where they showcased the story of sisi. Not because of the tour itself, but because of the organisation. There was a small ”alleyway“ filled with items. It was dark and crouded with people. You could quickly get dizzy in this environment. A quick exit was not in sight and you had to squeeze to even get to the next theme. I really enjoyed the second part. The house of the royals itself. First of all it was less crouded and seating was available. The narrator explained everything perfectly and left no crumbs. Let’s move on to the prices. Sisi Museum offers reasonable prices based on the whole tour itself. So for adults it costs 16€ and for children 11€. The children ticket is for children 18 or below. Then there is a student ticket for students who are in college. A extra tour costs extra. So overall I really enjoyed my experience here. It’s definitely one of the museums here in Vienna. I’m quite satisfied. Highly recommended.

Museum of Sisi is one of the most beutifull historic place in Wiena. Is the part of big complex of Hofburgh. My girlfriend wanted to see this museum for a long time. We expected the museum to be a bit more extensive. Here you can see a piece of history of how the monarchs came here, what they did here, how they lived here, how they received visitors and how they coexisted with others and their servants. You will also find here the hidden parts of Sisi's mental side, her experiences, her poems and her letters that she wrote and which will capture the hearts of readers. And finally, here you will also find how she died. It was a bit of a shame that they didn't allow us to take photos and thus take the main thing as a souvenir. The extra wanted to capture mainly dresses, jewelry, cosmetics and also furniture in the photos. And at the end of the story, there is a shop where you can buy souvenirs in the name and colors of Sisi, such as t-shirts, socks, pens, cosmetics, wallets, jewelry, sweets and the like :)

👑 You have to visit Sisi Museum if you are in Vienna! Based on Elizabeth's personal belongings, visitors to the Museum of Empress Sisi can see the life of this beautiful and often misunderstood queen: among the more than 300 exhibits are the original parts of the wardrobe, a miniature secretary with envelopes

Limited visitors allowed inside the Palace. A lot of people visit the day. Admission is priority for advance purchased then to walk in visitors. And so we skip the queue to enter the Palace. Amazing Palace and history to learn from. Will visit it again for more learning from great empire Palace.

Great museum for an amazing and free-spirited Empress! One of the must see places in Vienna. Will need at least a couple of hours to go through the various chambers that contain amazing exhibits, including numerous personal items and objects of Elisabeth. We did the audio guide version, which was quite adequate.

If you are in Wien, you have to visit the Sisi Museum to know more about the life of Elisabeth. There are numerous personal objects, dresses, and portraits of the empress. Better to buy the tickets online in advance to avoid waiting outside.

It was very fun but i was expecting more from the exhibition, also the story of sisi was prety briefly talked about, it was rather "hey look at that piece, it's nice... Also sisi was there... A bit" also only 4 historical dresses were shown, which was a bit disappointing to be honest, but it was still cool to see. Also since no pictures where allowed, here's some of my drawings in the exhibition.

They have a very interesting subject matter here, which is Sisi, but I think there’s a lot of improvements to be done in the museum. The passageways of the museum is quite narrow, which makes the museum overcrowded, hot and stuffy. They should limit the number of visitors to this place so that everyone can enjoy the exhibitions better. Staff presence was also very confusing. There’s no one at the barrier of the entrance, and you just don’t know what to do and where to go to start the tour. The signage for the audio guide was also not very well placed. You miss a lot of audio explanations, especially during the beginning because the museum is just so crowded and in some rooms, you can’t really see where the signs are. I learnt more about Sisi better through Google. The museum didn’t provide anything new or interesting about her, especially considering they own many of her personal belongings.

The part of the museum I wanted to see (plates, candelabras) was closed for renovation (next 2 years). This wasn’t mentioned on the website ~ which is wrong. Soooooo many people herding from one room to another ( tour time 4 pm). You start by going through narrow, small, dark rooms learning about Sisi and then onto some of the actual rooms. I don’t understand the obsession with Sisi? Maybe if this was my first and only visit to a museum, I’d say wow. But this was my fifth museum… and for me, it pales in comparison. Visit Belvedere and Schonbrunn Palace instead. Unless, you’re one of those people obsessed with Sisi. If the portion of the museum I wanted to visit was open maybe my review would have been better, but as mentioned, that wasn’t advertised, and for that reason I give this museum a 3.

(Translated by Google) It was very interesting to see how it all developed over the ages! The splendor that dishes, like everything else, have survived to this day. If you plan the guided tour including the SISSI tour, you should be prepared for the fact that the two together were really long, which is difficult with children. Parents are more likely to scurry down below. Both together cost us 15 euros, which is okay in terms of price. Please don't forget your own headphones!

The museum is beautiful, organized, and accommodating. It has beautiful historical prices such as the empress dresses. And the tour is provided in multiple languages including German, French, and English. It is also relatively cheap the entrance fee is 16€. Just be careful because you are not allowed to take pictures in some places which were a little disappointing. Overall I highly recommend going if you ever were in Vienna.

Combined exhibition 1. Imperial Tableware collection 2. Sisi Museum 3. Imperial apartments High quality exhibition that tells the story of Elizabeth (Sisi) and her husband Franz Joseph. We enjoyed learning about her life story from birth to assassination and a little about Franz Joseph. Took us about 3 hours to complete. Sadly, photos not allowed in the Sisi exhibit and imperial apartments. High quality, free audioguides provided as part of the ticket. Lockers available for a fee.

Very beautiful I recently had the opportunity to visit the Sisi Museum in Vienna, and it was an absolutely captivating experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was immersed in the intriguing world of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, fondly known as Sisi. The museum showcases an impressive collection of personal artifacts, clothing, and portraits, providing an intimate glimpse into the life of this enigmatic historical figure. The attention to detail and the preservation of these treasures are truly commendable, making the visit feel like a journey back in time.

The museum beautifully showcases her life through personal artifacts, stunning dresses, and insightful exhibits. Unfortunately, I couldn't take any pictures, but it's a must-see for history buffs and those intrigued by the intriguing life of Empress Sisi.

Since 2004 the Sisi Museum has been housed in the Stephan apartments, so named after Archduke Stephan Viktor. Here numerous personal items that once belonged to Elisabeth are used to help illustrate the true personality of the frequently misunderstood Empress. The sensitively designed exhibits, created by renowned set designer Prof. Rolf Langenfass, are inspired by the monarch's poetry. Please ensure you secure your admission time in advance by purchasing your ticket online. Admission can only be guaranteed with a purchased online ticket for a designated time slot.

It was interesting to see and get to know more about Sisi’s life and imperial apartments. Hopefully the day we visited it the museum was not very crowded and it was pretty easy to move around. I can’t give 5 stars as there are no cloakrooms, which makes your visit unpleasant if you have a heavy bag..

A nice and interesting place to visit. But way too much for me. You'd have to have an interest in those specific kind of historical pieces to warrant such a long viewing and learning of it. And you are not allowed to take any pictures

Brilliant and well worth the €15. Though my own stupidity I should have picked up and audio guide. The first section takes you through what can only be described as the dishes and cutlery of the Emporer/Empress, which sounds boring but was fascinating the intricate and elaborate designs and the sheer volume and expense. You are also offered the chance to short cut some of it if it's not your thing. The second part is where an Audio Guide would have been helpful it takes you through the life of Empress Elisabeth "Sissi" and though some of the amazing Palace. There was various signs in German and English but I think the audio guide took you through more detail than was contained in the signs. Well worth a visit and it's in the center of Vienna easy for Public transport and plenty of other things to see round about.

(Translated by Google) The highlight of the museum is probably Sissi's exhibition part. You get to know the former empress from a completely different angle. Indeed, a valuable educational journey in fast motion. Unfortunately, very often, very poorly lit information texts. The audio guide does not compensate for this. The Kaiserapparatments are also worth seeing. It is not entirely clear to me who the exhibition of kitchen utensils and dishes appeals to, but throwing them away would be a shame ? (Original) Das Highlight des Museums ist wohl der Ausstellungsteil von Sissi. Man lernt die ehemalige Kaiserin von einer ganz anderen Seite kennen. A few vases deserve more attention, maybe a ray-shaped napkin ;-) but besides that, there is nothing particularly interesting there. The longer route takes 40 minutes, the shorter (excluding some display cases) 20 minutes. And when you go through this glass labyrinth, you enter the 2nd floor of the Sisi museum and apartments - it's definitely worth it.

This is a nice place and I enjoy it as I do not think I have seen such an abundance of tableware in one place never. It is a good way of seeing how things evolved over time and I would even go further an say that if you correlate this with the other collections (like the furniture one) you will have a pretty good overall picture of how those times were. Nevertheless, here as well as for the furniture collection, you need to have some patience as you might get bored watching spoons and forks for so many minutes.

Worth seeing even if one is not too interested in royalty. Here one can see the apartments of Sisi and Franz Josef, as well as a large display of the silverware and other possessions of the fabulously wealthy rulers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The silverware museum can become difficult to follow if one is not overly into porcelain or silverware, but it gives a window into their world. The apartments of Sisi and Franz Josef give a glimpse into the life of the imperial household also, and considering the importance of these monarchs, makes this a fascinating window into a bygone age.

Worth visiting! The 15EUR entrance ticket contains of 2 main tourist attractions with audio guide to: 1. A really impressive collection of Original cutlery and silverware used by the royal family throughout the decades. 2. On the upper floor you'll get a glimpse into 'Sisi's life in the palace... of which no photos are allowed to be taken. The audio guide tells the story of her life while guiding from room to room, all the way from her surprise proposal in childhood untill her tragic death. There arent many rooms and items exposed and the one's you'd expect are actuall not the original (ex famous dress and jewelry). The highlight was actually to see her husband's simple bedroom, her workout room and replicas of a few dresses.

Such a beautiful and impressive collection of china. If only I could own one of all those plates 😉 I also loved seeing the dresses and portrait paintings. Negative: it was very crowded. To such an extent that you could barely move. It would be better if they used time slots. The gift shop was great. I bought some wonderful souvenirs there. You can also visit the shop without visiting the museum.

  • 3/5 Robyn P. 2 years ago on Google
The story of Empress Elizabeth or "Sisi", as she was called, reminded me a lot of Princess Diana's life. They were both young when they married into royalty, and they both died too soon. Other similarities between them include obsession and adoration from "Commoners", and possible eating disorders. The beginning of this tour starts with silver, china, etc. From the Hofberg Dynasty. I must mention that it was quite humid and warm on our July visit, and I couldn't seem to muster much enthusiasm for the VAST amount of items in this part of the tour. Unless you REALLY enjoy silverware, candlesticks, china, etc. You will likely not spend a great deal of time here. Yes, it was beautiful, but exactly HOW much silver does the average person really want to see- and especially in stifling July heat? At least photos can be taken on this part of the tour. After leaving this section, you go upstairs to the Apartments and Sisi Museum. There is a lot to see, but again it was warm with no air flow ( and masks are required, which make it even hotter). Many of the exhibits are well done. I especially liked the room where Sisi's dresses were displayed (very beautiful). In spite of my FREE audio guide tour, though, I didn't feel the tour flowed well, IMO. The most annoying part of all was the staff obsession with staring everyone down to prevent photography. Instead of being friendly and informative, watching for people trying to take photos seemed like their top priority. Numerous people were approached about this, many looking confused ( I didn't witness anyone trying to take photos). It was hot and crowded, and I found myself just wanting out of there. This was my least favorite of the museums. The entrance fee isn't too high ( $36.00 for two people), but for all the reasons above, I just didn't enjoy it as much as the others. If you are a fan of Sisi, then this would be a must see. PLEASE NOTE- CLOSED SUNDAY, MONDAY, TUESDAY

Really long exhibition, expensive, nothing out of ordinary in others museums. The Sisi part is kinda disappointing: it's presented as a great mistery involving the death of the emperess, but after many audios, there's nothing mysterious (spoiler alert): she was stabbed by a random guy. It's interesting, I think it's the most famous museum in vienna, but 14€ is a little too much imo

Amazing museum with huge collection of imperial silver, gold and china tableware plus very interesting to see Imperial Apartments of the Hofburg contrasts myth with with real story of Sisi life. The highlights include numerous personal objects of Elisabeth as well as the most famous portraits of the popular empress. Star deducted just for missing Ukrainian audioguide as many other Vienna's museums already provide.

It's great time!! Honestly,I didn't feel like more luxurious this museum than things I've seen in Paris and Rome but it was very interesting about Sissi's life history The price is 15erous included audio guide but there's no Korean(that's reason I didn't give 5stars here Lol) I wish they offer korea one for so many koreans who traveling and loving Vienna:)

We would prefer to visit only the part of sissi apartament (without the dinnerwares) but there was no option to do that. Cool that they have a lot of languages of audioguides. And it is forbidden to take the Photos, even with the phone :( it was convenient to have the chairs from time to time to rest 😊

If you want to know a little bit about Sisi, this place offers you this opportunity. You can take a guided tour or an audio guide. If you are not so keep on history you can take audio guide and listen what’s important for you and skip what’s not. This one has on option to listen only the “good to know” things, marked inside museum with a red star

In the beginning you go through an exhibition of plates and ceramics, which is pretty to look at but not too exciting. Then you get to the Sisi part, first her story is told and then you walk through her and her husbands rooms. The audioguide is very useful and doesn't contain too much information so I'd recommend taking one. Overall a good experience!

You can get a great price for both the sisi museum and the schönbrunn castle. The sisi musem was very interesting with all the differet plates and decorations. The sisi part itself showed a very sad story which made it very interesting!

Ok, everyone told me you have to do the Sisi Museum if you go to Vienna. It was not on my plan but ended up having the time to visit it. The museum is beautiful and the silverware collection remarkable. The place is quite crowded and it was sometimes difficult to navigate through corridors hence the 4 stars. Sometimes I felt a bit in a middle of too many people and couldn't even walk.

I really enjoyed visiting Sisi Museum. On a friday day afternoon there was no line for tickets, it was not too too crowded. There were audio guides available in many languages which made the museum easier to navigate. It takes about 1 hour to go through all the rooms if you listen to the audio guide. 👍❤️

You must visit this museum. I have to warn you that you have to go up three flights of steps to get inside the museum. I didn't see any lift for the disabled. It's very busy compared to all the other major museums, so booked online and get there early. Again, having a pass it really helps. We bought a pass, including a visit to the Schronbrunn Palace, Sisi Museum, and the Furniture museum.

The first part of the museum was very dark, I couldn’t see the paintings and items very well. They should have given us flashlights with the sound tourguide machines. I liked the second part where I was able to see all the rooms. The gift shop was awesome.
