The entrance is where the metro station's entrance is. I should have probably read better before, because on the day it took me a while to find it! It is free of charge on the first Sunday of the month, as part of Wien Museum. After the information and ticket desk, there's a steep spiral staircase to go down (and one to go up again). It is well presented and looked after, I especially liked the lighting, even if no wall paintings are remaining. Some objects are on display in vitrines in a narrow corridor section, but it is quite difficult to enjoy if it is busy. At the end of this corridor, there's a video on a loop showing the development of the area through the centuries. There's no space to leave your coat and bag, but the visit should not take long anyway.

One of Vienna's tiny gems, much like others have already mentioned. However, on the day that me and my dad had arrived (26th June 2022), their audioguide wasn't "charged", apparently. Without said audioguide, the only thing you are left with is 10minutes of exploring 2 rooms, one of which is just a rocky type of cave, and another (slightly more interesting) with tiny little pictures portraying various customs of Austrians in the Medieval age. With the audioguide, all of this would've been well worth the 5 Euro/ticket. Without, it's mostly boring & useless. My advice for everyone would be to visit the place and make sure you ask if they have fixed the AUDIOGUIDE before entering/paying the ticket.

Unexpected well done museum at the metro station Stephansplatz at the center of Vienna. It costs 5€ including the audio guide in German and in English. The stuff at the entrance are very friendly and helpful. There is a little shop also where you can buy souvenirs from the museum and from the city. In the station there are a lot of food facilities.

Nice discovery while leaving the train station. Absolute gem hidden under the ground with medieval walls. Only 5 euros for entrance - and the price is absolutely worth it.

Chapel of St. Virgil (Virgilkapelle) is finally open to the public since last December 2015. It used to be kept behind a large window for many many years but thankfully the restoration and the interpretation of the chapel is complete and now everybody can experience it from the chapel floor level. The audio guide is controlled on a tablet which shows photos, drawings etc. The museum is very informative and you can spend over an hour at this attraction. The entrance is fairly cheap and presently on the first Sunday of every month it is for free of charge.

Very small museum of a 13th century chapel tucked away in a metro station. The audio guide is exceptionally good here. This place is usually quite empty, so you'll have time and space enough to explore and learn more about this hidden jewel.

I positively like this place - it's an oasis of peace and quiet right in Vienna's busy centre - the exhibition about life in medieval Vienna is small, but exquisite, I'd definitely recommend it if you're interested in History. Also, I'm still fascinated by the fact that the impressions made by the formwork boards in 13th century (!) are still clearly visible (I was perfectly sure that it was modern concrete until I learned that this kind of technology was already used for mortar work 800 years ago).

Quite small and not much to see. Perfect for a visit on the free Sunday of the month. but otherwise I would suggest visiting something else with your money

It’s only 5 euros. It’s a very small museum but the area when you walk down the steps is very peaceful and quiet. Nice serene ambiance.

Worth going. An amazing middle age underground chapel accidentally found during the subway development. Well preserved and well introduced by the audio guide.

Located in a metro station, fairly interesting. Some cool digital exhibits about life way back when. Was worth it for free (first Sunday of the month), not so sure about paying unless it’s super cheap or you’ve got time to kill.

A small, hidden, but exceptionally rare museum where you can briefly walk inside the well preserved interior of a 12th century chapel. There is an exhibition room with a few medieval items. Combined with informative screens you can learn a lot about medieval Vienna in less tha 20-30 minutes. Addionately a clearly enthusiast staff member answered questions related to Vienna's history and recommended other historic sites. Would highly recommended it to anyone with an interest in history. It might not be the "regular" tourist cup of tea due to the small size of the museum. The entrance is next to the U1 Subway underground.
