The staff is very unfriendly. One of the staff members kept watching us all along the visit, as if he was in rush; He made us feel very unconfortable, even though we left the museum at least 1h before closing time. The space dedicated to Franz Schubert is very small, the written explanations are only provided in German and there were technical issues with the music headphones installed in the museum. The cables were deterriorated and obstructed the audition. I visited in the same period Beethoven's House in Probusgasse, Haydn's Museum in Haydngasse and Mozart House in Domgasse and unfortunately, Schubert had the poorest resources and experiences. Such a pitty for such a genius!

Small, cute museum that reflects the living conditions back then. Highlight Schubert's glasses. Memorial rooms have been set up here for Adalbert Stifter.

Decided to pop by before going to the airport. Had the Vienna City Card so paid €4 instead of €5. It’s a really small museum with only 2 interactive music exhibits. The rest were all just portraits of Schubert’s family members and paintings of him and his friends. We arrived when it just opened so we had to open the doors to the exhibit rooms on our own. Do note that the exhibit is all in German and there is no translations provided. They have a washroom as well, which you need to ask them for the keys to get access to. Was hoping for a more extensive tour but turned out to be quite average.

Nicely prepared and very nice staff. Entry is free every first Sunday of the month and you should actually make the most of it. The visit is definitely worth it.

If you are a big Schubert fan have a look. Otherwise you might want to invest the admission money in something else but 5€ is a very fair price. The architecture of the yard is very nice.

The place was nice but nothing special. There are three rooms in total and two headphone experiences with music. Besides Schubert related historical stuff, there were also many paintings of an artist, whose connection to Schubert was not made clear. The staff there does not speak English. We went when there was a free entry day and honestly, I wouldn’t say it’s worth paying to go in but in general it is interesting to see.

Very atmospheric place at the back of a busy road in the Viennese suburbs. The courtyard is wonderful, the museum rather small (as was the tiny apartment where the Schubert family lived), but it's quite informative. Several of Schubert's compositions can be listened to, and there are Schubert's glasses as the main authentic object in display. Be sure to buy a combination ticket (15 euro in 2020) for Vienna's six composer houses (excluding the Mozarthaus, which is by far the most impressive, to be honest).

Very exciting. The problem is that there is almost no english. Aside from the plaque in the first roome, and very few of the exhibitions, most of the items are only in German. I see letters in Schubert's handwriting, pictures, documents and so on - so exciting, but can't understand a word. Very dissapointing. Schubert was the only true Viennese but compared to Beethoven and Mozart, he is almost neglected. Please, translate the museum to english.

Worth the trip, just to see where Schubert was born and lived as a toddler. It's where his father ran his first small school. A bit limited on artefacts and other items.

The man who worked there was very rude to us. He spoke no English, and it was the only place in Vienna where we didnt feel welcome. I will write to administration about it. The most precious item in that museum is Schubert 's glasses, but it's on tour in Japan until winter. It's a lovely spiritual house to see.

(Translated by Google) Nothing is said about the life of Franz Schubert in this museum. The highlight is his glasses, which are on display. On the walls are pictures, some of which do not know how they relate to Schubert. Who wants to see where Schubert was born, is right here. But you will not learn more here. Too bad. Schade.

Small museum in Schubert's birthplace, where he lived with his family, with a couple of exhibitions of drawings and personal objects as well as another with paintings by an Austrian painter. It is also nice to see the courtyard and the preserved houses. It is small (you can see it in 30 minutes) but interesting. Normal admission is €5/€4 reduced and the first Sunday of the month is free.

Worth seeing if you come on the first Sunday of the month, when it’s free or if you get the combined ticket for all musicians houses. Otherwise, it’s 4,5 small rooms with few exhibits.

Attractive buildings with a small museum that contains some original scores, instruments, contemporary portraits, and other interesting Schubert items; there is also a likeable little collection of vibrant Romantic paintings all depicting dramatic and sublime nature, with no direct connection to Schubert other than in spirit but still worth seeing. A pleasant short visit.

Visited 29/5/22 The Schubert family had rooms in a large multi-occupational property. This was where Franz was born and spent just the first 4 years of his life. So there is no express musical connection. But the exhibit displays a lot of the pictures (genuine, I think) and score fragments (probably facsimile) that are associated with Schubert and his background. They have his guitar and a piano that belonged to one of his brothers. If you have already been to the Mozart House (on which I’ve posted a review) you may find this a little disappointing, as there is no audio guide and it is rather harder to set the scene for Schubert and explain his position in music history. There are ample headphone banks for listening to sone of his better-known works, however. Allow an hour at most to tour the rooms. Access is up steep stairs only, so this will be difficult to visit if you have difficulty climbing stairs. The house is in Vienna’s 9th District, so a fair way from the centre. If on foot from a location in say the first or second districts, allow an hour (but the walk will be very pleasant).

Small museum, with little exhibition. You will find a couple of rooms with some portraits, busts, a couple of facsimiles of the composer's songs. You also can listen to some recordings of his pieces in headphones. The museum is Schubert's birth place.

We encourage you to be baptized and visit the nearby Lichtental church, which belonged to the choir. (Translated by Google) Schubert fans can visit the place where Schubert was born. It has his famous glasses, his most famous portraits, and a table where you can sit down and listen to his most important classic works. But generally speaking, there are not many collections. If you look at the flowers, they will come out in less than half an hour. In addition, it is recommended to add English to the exhibit introduction!

(Translated by Google) Touching place, you can imagine how poor one of the greatest composers of all time lived here. Anyone who saw the film "With my hot tears" with Udo Samel will be drawn directly into that time. Also the sound documents from the headphones are good, if you listen to "Death and the Maiden" you can almost no longer ... (Original) Berührender Ort, man ahnt wie armselig einer der größten Komponisten aller Zeiten hier gelebt hat. In contrast to the Mozart Museum, it is not very public and during my visit I did not meet any visitor. On the spot, we can see some manuscripts, paintings and instruments from the era. We can also listen to beautiful music ... For me, this is a unique place with a climate conducive to contemplation :) (Original) Dom dzieciństwa wspaniałego i, mimo bardzo krótkiego życia, bardzo płodnego kompozytora. Don't go there, it's a SCAM ! Schubert only lived there for three years. There is nothing to see. The "museum" is very tiny. Most of the documents are reproductions. There are no explanations, no chronology, no thematic organisation, just NOTHING ! You can listen to his music but one of the headphones (poor quality) didn't work. If you want to see something interesting, well designed and made by passionate people, go to Arnold Schönerg center!
