The SchokoMuseum in Vienna's 23rd district Liesing, run by Confiserie Heindl since 2001, shows 3000 years of chocolate history, from the Xocolatl of the Olmecs to today's praline. It also explains the cultivation, the different varieties and recipes of chocolate and allows a look into the ongoing production. The museum takes the form of a classic museum with exhibits and pictures, as well as the opportunity to taste different raw chocolates and then take a look at the ongoing production. All processing steps from the cocoa bean to the finished chocolate base are explained: cultivation, harvesting, fermentation, drying, storage, cleaning, roasting, crushing, grinding, fine rolling and conching.

Not worth of time and money! We were very disappointed with content and whole concept. There is nothing interesting with putting empty packaging in form of pyramid or gluing them on the wall. Also, we didn't come to picture our heads on some panel with prince and princess. Not recommended at all!

Chocolate museum that is part of Heindl chocolate factory. They have a short film telling about Heindl and process and exhibition showing different ingredients and explaining process of making chocolate. You can taste liquid chocolate of white, dark and milk type. They also conduct workshops of chocolate making for children and adults. There is a factory on the first floor where you can see the process through glass but we could not see that as the production was closed for summer break. You are offered a few varieties to taste and there is a shop where you can buy it. If you are visitor to the museum you get some discount on price in the shop. Overall it was good experience.

Bit overpriced at Euro 14 an adult when we went in. It's basically 2 rooms/ small areas. The first small room hosts a small 5 min film about the history of chocolate that you can watch in YouTube. The second area has some choco exhibits, tasters and quizzes where you can feel/ smell and distinguish between choco beans, fruits, sugar etc. There's a minute area upstairs where they host a factory that you can see from outside. That's it. The whole thing will take you max 15 mins and not worth more than Euro 5 max.

The most delicious chocolate you can imagine. I don't really like dark chocolate but the one they served here was absolutely extraordinary, and don't get me started on the milk and white chocolates, and the fillings. In the factory/museum ticket all you can eat chocolate is included, and you will have a 10% off from the chocolate gift store, where the prices are already lower than in any other store.

Pricey but interesting. To get an audio guide in English there's a supplemental fee. Appreciated the vegan tastings.

HEINDL is a chocolate lover's paradise. Their exquisite creations, from velvety milk chocolate to decadent dark chocolate, are an absolute delight. The craftsmanship and flavor variety make this factory a must-visit for all chocolate enthusiasts. Pure bliss in every bite!

If you are in Vienna and like chocolate, this is the place to be. Samples everywhere. The tour is in German, but chocolate is in every language. With a guided tour, you get to make your own torte waffer. Chocolate, wafers, topings, and then more chocolate on top of it all. Chocolate and then more chocolate.

We drove almost an hour to visit the chocolate factory in 23rd district (during the winter school holidays). And were disappointed: ticket prices don't match with offered entertainment at all. If the management thinks that a couple small plates of chocolate samples, some plastic trees and an empty production area animate people didn't learn about marketing and hospitality much. After 15 minutes our "tour" was done. Can't recommend this place at all!

Nice but a little short. Enjoyed the "free" chocolate and also if you bring children there are a few stations which i see as a pretty big plus.

Videos share the production process when the workers are not there. The museum is small and there is a lot to read. Didn't feel like it was worth the money. Short visit for us. Required to wear mask. Nice bathrooms. Parking available.

The museum was not very interesting I think, It should be more interactive, but the chocolates were taste good.

It was small but very well organized museum and factory. The shop was little, it should be better to get enlarged and improve assessibility for disability.

2 words: free chocolate. The museum isn't that big so there's not a lot to see but it's a great option for a free afternoon.

The museum shows the company and the chocolate's origins. The museum building isn't huge, but it's modern. If you visit the museum you will get a 10% discount in there brand store. There are many different types of free simples that you can taste. Oh and there are three chocolate fountains in the museum, dark, white and milk chocolate.

Wow!!! We toured the factory with chocolate tasting and making some chocolates as well. Learn about history of the company since inception. Met wonderful staff and the lady at the reception who helped us with English version of the tour and explained how it work. A tip if you are walking around the factory tasting chocolates take a glass of water next to reception as you enter as that will help. There is a factory shop where you get 10% discount on the day of your visit to the museum 😘
