One of the best museum experience in Vienna! Not only learning things about Beethoven deeply, you will also learn the history, local culture and international events in that era. Love the sounds devices, the English descriptions, the interior arrangements. Objects including texts, antiques, paintings, the highlight is lots letters, conversation that Beethoven had, being displayed. I was laughing and in tears through this journey. Thank you for letting me falling in love with Beethoven again 💖

Amazing to be where a the Great Beethoven lived and composed.🥰 The exhibit is spread throughout all the rooms, many replicas, a few items that were actually written by the Beethoven are on exhibit. Beethoven only lived in a three room apartment of this building, they are the rooms I have pictured here, featuring a replica piano that Beethoven used to help him hear his compositions. Also on display is a door, flooring from another apartment that he lived in and the key to Beethoven coffin ⚰️🤔

It's a museum to be avoided at all cost if you're not a die hard fan obsessed with the music of LvB like I am First of all you pay 7 feckin euros for hardly half an hour if you want to take pictures of everything, if you just stroll around the museum is good for about 10 minutes There are no originals here, they are all in Bonn at the house where Beethoven was born Ridiculous museum overall and priced way over what it delivered

Really quite neat museum of Beethovens life and death. Learnt quite a bit. Good exhibits. Many interactive and creative exhibits playing his music. Exhibits are translated in English and German. Great for Beethoven fans! Divided into 6 sections of his life. Need to be careful and time your visit right as we didn’t get to finish a little part of the museum due to the museum closing between 1-2 pm….; has a small gift shop at the ticketing counter. You can purchase for 20.00 a ticket for 1 year for admission into Haydn, Schubert, Beethoven houses - however it does not include Mozart’s house; seems like the other houses are part of the Vienna museums affiliation. Alternatively, you can also purchase for just the single Beethoven house for 16.00. Free entrance first Sunday of each month.

a quick tram ride (30min) outside the city center but well worth the visit! (great reason to explore the Vienna suburbs) there are 6 exhibits which might seem quite small but they were filled with related quotes (some of which were quite humorous and insightful), excerpts from compositions, old letters, related news, etc. there is plenty to learn about his life and the music world during that time period. i thought the exhibits were brilliantly organized and executed with many unique, interactive features! the 6 exhibits are all separate so it’s definitely meant for a smaller crowd, but i thought it made for a nice, intimate setting. definitely worth a visit if you are a fan of his works.

I liked it very much; even though there are not that many original exhibition pieces (thus just 4 stars), the atmosphere of the house feels quite authentic, also the displayed content is vary varied and interesting, even entertaining. Including a few clever interactive elements. I chuckled a lot at quite a few of the presented quotes and anecdotes. – Perhaps not that well suited for groups, as the rooms are small and not one-way.

Visited on a cold day in late February 2023. It's outside of the city center but easily accessible by public transportation. Small museum in Beethoven's residence (a former bakery). This small museum has a few interactive activities throughout five rooms. Worth visiting for anyone involved in music history and education.

The best Beethoven museum in Vienna. 30 mins by public transportation from the city center, but really worth your time and money. And the scenery is so peaceful.

It’s a beautiful place with a pretty neighborhood and there are some interactive spots to play a musical piece, etc. however the museum get closed at 1 and reopens at 2. Since it is slightly out of town and many people like me don’t have time to stay there, I didn’t find enough time to see the whole museum!

Charming building and I really enjoyed the museum. They convey Beethoven's stormy temperament in novel ways: look out for the 1st page of the Eroica score represented most physically on the wall, for example. The member of staff was very friendly. Definitely recommend visiting this museum. It's in a very pretty part of Vienna anyway. I also got a voucher for a free glass of wine for the restaurant just down the road which is worth visiting in itself. Check beforehand if they are still doing that promotion.

(Translated by Google) The house where Beethoven became deaf and wrote "Heiligenstadt Testament". 5 km north of the city center of Vienna. The original of the will, the raw score of Eroica, the trunk and the portrait are on display. There are also pianos, life masks and death masks.

The Testament room is treated very well with sound panels. The voice acting reciting the Testament is good, a bit melodramatic but I guess that’s kind of the point of the room. The staff is very kind and helpful. There is an air of respect and humility in the place that was constant throughout, both by the staff and the patrons. I will remember this visit for many years, if not, the rest of my life.

Nice staff, lots of information and interactive elements. I spent about 1.5 hours here. If you have some time in Vienna and love classical music, you could take a look at their combination ticket for 6 museums/apartments of Beethoven, Strauss, Haydn, and Schubert.

(Translated by Google) Although it is a small house, it is the place where Beethoven lived, and various materials are on display. Symphony No. 3 (Eroica) was composed for Napoleon (1803-1804), but it is said that he did not dedicate it to him as he became emperor. Due to his hair loss and hearing loss, we can see traces of using a hearing aid (speech enlarger). Also, the 5-pedal piano used at the time was interesting.

  • 4/5 Keith R. 2 years ago on Google
Though the artifacts are reproductions, the whole exhibition is well executed and gave the feeling that Beethoven was present and about to appear in the garden. It's inexpensive and well worth the tram ride out to experience.

I love the museum! It has 6 rooms, each is dedicated to Beethoven's part of life such as: composition room, teaching room, etc. There is a special equipment using which one may experience how the composer's hearing loss progressed. There are some facsimiles, which is amazing for musicians to watch at.

Denied entrance after travelling an hour to get there then waiting another 45 minutes while they were closed for lunch. Two different cards for two separate people and different banks did not work, despite working before and after. The rather unpleasant and unwelcoming gentleman liked to give the impression it was our fault. Why do that job when you are clearly not a people person?

A great place - please visit even if you don’t know much about Beethoven (at least I know I didn’t!). Pays great attention to small detail, but does not bore. You’ll exit the museum as inspired as ever. Love from Poland!

A little bit out of centre, but definitely worthwhile checking out. Beethoven's residence in, or, at the time, near Vienna is a cute 17th-18th century house with an exhibition going through his Vienna years (from 1810 to his death in 1827). The exhibition includes his famous piano with the metal hub that was supposed to carry more sound to help the composer's deteriorating hearing.

Old Bakery, turned into a House Museum of a musical prodigy and genius. Although he might have been there (in that house) only for a short while, the museum is excellent introduction into the painful and turmoiled life of Beethoven. Divided into 6 sections, takes about hour and a half to browse through. Highly recommended.

(Translated by Google) Visited in 2019. I took the subway to Heiligenstadt station and then took a bus to get there. Unexpectedly, some Japanese people were there. ‥ There are not so many exhibits, but there are many that can be seen carefully and it took about an hour and a half to finish. Photos are allowed, so I was able to take it freely. There is also a shop at the entrance, but when I bought a fax and guide book of Beethoven's "Heiligenstadt's will", he put on a sturdy paper bag. The place where Beethoven wrote the ninth remains as Heuriger nearby.

My family visited the museum early morning of late April in 2017. There were not many people and were glad since it is not a big place. We could wander into each room with ease and try to feel the hint of the great composer. We liked the video that showed how a symphony was composed. It was the place that he wrote the Heiligenstadt Testament. He composed Eroica symphony there. Wonderful history in the house. We really enjoyed the museum and it was worth the trip which took us about an hour from Vienna city center. Highly recommended if you like his music!
