The Viennese Giant Ferris Wheel is an absolute attraction not to be missed. Built in 1945, it is regarded as one of the oldest Ferris Wheel in the world. Once you are inside one of it's cabins, the views of the city are breathtaking. It only takes 10-15 mins for the complete round but it's worth the time and money. Simply amazing.

If you come to Vienna and buy the transportation pass, it may be better to not buy tickets to attractions in advance online, as you will miss some of the discounts that come with it. Also there are some combination tickets that are not sold online, such as between the Ferris wheel and the Donauturm, and others. The view from the Wheel is good and it stops a number of times, so you can enjoy all the levels.

Saturday, Dec 23@09:50hrs Bonjour tout le monde, Somewhat pricey and nothing to write home about BUT it’s a must visit as a tourist experience in Vienna. Go early (before opening) and you can buy the ticket from the booth. They will try and sell you an overpriced picture before you “board” the cabin by saying you don’t pay if you don’t like it. I refused to have it take as it was a solo visit and just to check it off the things to do. The ride is quick and you get to see the whole city. Sunnier days are better but even the muggy days are ok. (This particular day was rainy and muggy).

The iconic Viennese Giant Ferris Wheel has become a symbol of Vienna. When you enter inside there is a small museum - the Panorama exhibition - showing scenes from Vienna's history and telling stories about the Prater. The Wheel itself is slowly turning to show remarkable views of the city. The cabins are totally safe, there is a bench for seating. The spin takes about 15 minutes. Enjoy!

We visited on a weekend, so it was crowded. After buying tickets proceed to standing in another queue to ride the ferris wheel. This took almost 20 minutes. At the Entry they take photographs and it is absolutely optional to buy one. Once you reach the coach of ferries wheel, the waiting is absolutely worth. The views are amazing to watch. There is an option to ride over the coaches as well.

What a wonderful park. The cost are for aingle ride, so not all need to ride along. It have multiple rides, Some rides similar to others. There are several restaurants within reasonable price within the park. During the night or after the sun come down it is the best time to come to the park. All the lights and everything looks amazing.

Very fun experience, and a must do trip for any visitors to Vienna! When you enter the Ferris wheel area, there are a couple of history displays that are very informative and fun to learn about. Recommend you visit this ride if you’re ever at the theme park. Photos are a little glimpse of the beautiful views you see at the top of the Ferris wheel

I took my family to Prater and it was very enjoyable. Prater had all kinds of amusements and my children enjoyed it. The Viennese Giant Ferris Wheel was widely known among tourists and the view you get from it, is beautiful. However, the tickets were a bit expensive, especially for having a family. Last but not least, I enjoyed the trip and would recommend it to whom would like to have fun.

One of the must visits in Vienna. Although a bit further out of the city centre but it was worth it. The staff were nice and helpful.

This is a must do when in Vienna. It takes about 15-30 minutes for a full circle. From the top you see the entire city. I went at night so all of the city lights were breathtaking. I'm unsure if the ride would have been better during the day. Prior to entering the ride there is a space that has small vignettes that gives some historical facts about Vienna. If you have time this is a nice area to see.

An amazing experience. The Giant Ferris Wheel has an amazing past too which you can read whilst waiting to go on and on the back of your ticket.... so a little keepsake. We got some great photos of Vienna whilst at the top too. Well worth the ride with such an amazing history.

My friend and I went as entry was included with the Niederösterreich Card which made it just about worth it as we didn't pay the €12 per person to ride. Honesty, it was still not really worth it. Over priced, and over very quickly. While most Vienna tourist attractions are over priced compared to London or other major capital cities, this was especially so. The dioramas at the entry were old-fashioned, and quite cheesy.

We went to the Prater on the first Saturday in June. Great compliance to all Covid regulations. One of the most famous attractions is the Viennese Giant Ferris Wheel. €12 each for entry. (A little steep in my opinion) The views of the city were amazing They kept the amount of people to a minimum in the carriage which was very welcomed. Would 100% recommend - especially if you aren't doing any of the other tall attractions. One of the best views you are going to get of Vienna.

Yes, it is a giant ferris wheel. No, it's not really worth the price. The renovation made the cabins look a bit more clean. There is definitely enough space inside, sometimes the windows do feel at certain places spotted with milky stains. The view from Prater is not really the best to enjoy the actually panoramic potential of Vienna. There are definitely better places, specially on outskirts/outer districts of the city. The "flower wheel" around the corner is worth the price and more or less gives you the same view from a little lower height!

A beautiful view from the top. You can buy tickets ahead of time online but you will need to print them out (like on actual paper). It's just as easy, and costs the same to just get the tickets there and skip having to print them.

Great views of the beautiful Vienna on this very classical ferris wheel. It's very tall but it doesn't seem giant. Cold and weather conditions don't affect the Ride as the cabins are closed.

Wonderful picturesque view from the Whell to the entertainment area and to the city. Especially when it's getting dark and everything is in colors and light. We were lucky as when we started to go up, the lights were on, so we had a chance to take pictures with and without light.

Amazing experience!! It's a must for a 1st visit to Vienna for sure. The park was full of people but the wait for the wheel wasn't that long. Staff were nice. The view is unbeatable. Definitely coming back again whenever in Vienna. (You can apparently go on a glass platform without an actual box!! Looks cool)

The classic Vienna experience! It's a gentle ride in old-school cabins with views across the city once you get to the top. Very evocative of the Third Man movie. Don't bother booking in advance online as it seems you still need to exchange your ticket PDFs for paper tickets at the cash desk anyway 🤷‍♀️

This ride just cost 5 euro and i would say it's worth it. They give you blankets so that you won't feel cold. The ride is for 10 mins and it's really smooth doesn't feel like scary at all. Gorgeous view of the city 🌆

Very nice experience and view for the Wien. A lot of people want to go for it so be prepared to wait up an hour to get in. You don't have to wait long to buy the tickets on place, no need to do it online before. Would recommend for visitors.

One of the best way to see beautiful view of city. We observed long waiting time in the queue but it was worth at the last. Baby strollers were allowed to be taken on board. The wheel moves pretty slow, but the top views are amazing. You can even spot which amusement ride you would like to enjoy and where it is located from the top

It's pretty awesome, the dinner for two must be a real treat. Great view, part of Vienna's history. The rest of the amusement park looks a bit scary for older people. Stick to the ferris wheel and you won't be disappointed in the view!

A must for a first time Prater visitor. This 65 meter tall Ferris wheel offers a fantastic view of whole Vienna. Constructed in 1897, it makes you wonder how people must have felt more than a hundred years ago. The ride is roughly 20 minutes. Totally recommended.

It’s located INSIDE an amusement park but there are no entry fees for it, so if you don’t want to get on the ferris wheel you can just watch it move very very slow. The carriages are vintage and the tickets are €13 per person. The views from the top are nice but it was a rainy day so I couldn’t see much!

A classic Vienna attraction with 360° views of the city on the quintessential old school ferris wheel. We went there at sunset time on a quiet August day and the line was more than reasonable.

Highly recommend. This was our first stop after arriving in Vienna as we wanted to see the city before exploring. A quick hop off the U-bahn and an amusement park and Christmas market await. The ride is approx 15 min. TIP: bypass the line and by your tickets online and head to the turnstile. Enjoy Wien!

This is a must do in Vienna, great history and views and a reasonable price (we had Vienna Passes so entrance was free) but I think it was 14E for adults not sure about children well worth doing. I would have like to have gone back to do in the evening but ran out of time. Loved It.

The Grand Ferris Wheel of Vienna is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. As the saying goes: you haven't really visited Vienna if you haven't been on the Ferris wheel. I believe it's a must-go for every tourist who wants to have a firsthand experience with Vienna's culture and symbols.

Well, its a good tourist atraction. The view is ok, not really awesome... The price is ok too. Maybe its faster then I imagine. Perharps an extra 2/3 minutes can make it a more comfortable journey.

Coat us €34 for family of 3, wheel takes about 15 mins. Great views of the city - only downside I wish the lights in the cabin were dimmer / off as it did spoil the view a tiny bit. However it's a must do for the views. February wasn't busy at all.

This is one of the best attractions in Vienna. You have to try it. The city is beautiful. Worth a good look from above. Plan ahead. Usually many people in the area. The public transportation is recommended. However if you are familiar with the area you can find parking place around. Not so cheap for a family but definitely worth it. After the ride you can eat or enjoy more attention around the park. Take your time.

One of the oldest Ferris wheel. Very interesting cabins to view. The price is a bit high. There is always a queue near the wheel. The Ferris wheel is not high.

Veeeeeery beautiful view! All people are separated and divided in groups not to overcrowd the vans. Also great exposition of miniatures before the view!

We got here in the morning (easily by the subway) to avoid long queue. Most of the Christmas market stands were close, though the attractions are opened since 10 o clock. The view from the panoramic wheel it's nice, on a clear day you can spot many city landmarks (a photo in the cabin will help you out). My suggestion get the tickets online.

When we arrived at 16.00, Thursday there were hardly any people, so there weren't lines at the pay area. After you pay you go to a room with models of some of the rides, for example the Prater wheel after WWII... it was nice but we couldn't see all of the models, they were fixing something :( Before the ride there's a toilet, which is very convenient. The ride itself is nice and slow. The view is beautiful.

This is one of the symbols of the city with and amazing view. You should definitely visit you have also other rides around it, places to serve a coffee or have some food . You have a direct bus also the Metro station across the road so easy transportation access. Be prepared to wait in line it can get pretty crowded specially during the periods with high amount of turists.

Wonderful views from inside unusual train like carriages, lots of room so no problems with social distancing. Only one other couple in with us. Had to wear face masks, which is normal these days. Arrived just before 10am when it opens (visited on a Sunday), so no problem with queues. Check opening times before you go. Looked like tickets can be bought in advance. Seems a bit expensive, €12 per adult, but I don't know how this compares to other Big Wheel rides. Worth it for the experience and views. Located in the Prater, a wonderfully large park with cafés and relaxing walks, much in the shade so appreciated in the hot sunny weather we experienced whilst in Vienna.

At the beginning you can see mainly the park and trees and the panorama can be seen at the highest point of this mill. A beautiful amusement park where the Giant Ferris Wheel is located. The park is free to enter and we only pay for the rides we choose to play. The ferry wheel looks good with wooden base. It's a rectangular box which can hold a quite a number of people. We can reserve a carriage for dine with our family and friends to have a memorable moments. A view of Vienna from top looks good. There are couple of good rides which can be taken. It is good place to visit with family.

    - worth seeing Vienna from the top. - one unique thing was that you can make a reservation for dinner inside. Basically you can enjoy your dinner with your friends or your family while seeing a beautiful Vienna. - very clean during the COVID-19 - no problem with queueing

Stunning attraction to visit whilst in Vienna, definitely worth the short walk from the centre. Located around plenty of greenery you’ll get a great view of the city, the wheel it’s self looks great for those insta stories of your vacation. I personally love the history of this attraction, especially those old fashioned carriages.

The view is quite beautiful from the wheel, but again you see the same view from a lot of other rides in the whole park. The view adds the charm with a wine glass inside the cabin. Highly recommended to visit and see the whole park around.

Wanna have a glimpse of Vienna from above?! Say no more, get your ticket and enjoy the view from the old Wheel. You will stay 15 to 20min above the ground, long enough to take some good shots. The booth are large enough so booths are not overcrowded.

Enjoyed the Crystal Dinner there. The staff was great and friendly, the entire experience was awesome. The food was so delicious, the cook did a brilliant job. The view is amazing! In case you have the luck, book a dinner with sunset, so you can enjoy your view over by day and night. Although this is experience is a bit pricy, it was a great and unforgetable experience. well organized!

The Ferris wheel was good, very well spaced with people, because of COVID, we were 4 friends, and another couple with 2 children, I found the ride a bit faster around than expected, but the ride was worth doing, super views both side of windows, and very aired inside.

  • 4/5 Giovanni V. 2 years ago on Google
Pretty, great way to see the city from above in a somewhat vintage way, but that’s that. Probably great for couples and children but not the most exciting of attractions for me. Still four stars for the way they just renovated the “wagons” with a vintage twist.

Felt like the safest Ferris wheel I’ve ever been on! Such a smooth ride. Great views across the city from the top. It is expensive for one ride, that takes approx 10 mins, but worth doing once on your trip to Vienna

  • 5/5 Maitham A. 2 years ago on Google
View is breathtaking, you can literally see most of Vienna when you’re up in there,, Prices are reasonable,, Unfortunately we had a wait for around 15 minutes, and when we got into the cart, it was somehow overcrowded, other than this, it was an amazing experience,,

  • 3/5 Cosmin T. 1 year ago on Google
🎡The oldest Wheel Ferris in Europe can be a checkpoint for one visiting Viena, but since it's only a 10 minutes cycle, I wouldn't make it a priority. 👍 I have particularly liked the history in miniature scenes before the wheel ride.

Husband and I had a 3 course Swarovski romantic candle dinner. They served us with Viennese dishes (our choice) which was great coz we are tourists and would love to try local dishes. What I love most is the schnitzel and goulash, the main dish. We were also surprised with a free gift voucher that can be used in Swarovski store and some free stones as well. If you want to try this private dinner, in my opinion, sunset is the best time to book. Ambiance will be more romantic. Over all, everything is worth it and it was a great experience. Thanks to the dedicated staffs ❤️

A lovely experience. If you will only do one ride when you come to Prater, makes sure it's this one. One gets lovely view of the city of Vienna, particularly if on a fine day. The Cabin is quite spacious, but they limit the number of people nowadays due to Covid-19 measures.

  • 5/5 Abigail A. 1 year ago on Google
Highly recommend. The park area is great to walk around. The Ferris wheel is good during the day to see the views of Vienna from high above. Another nice time to ride would be sunset or after the sun goes down for the lights. The cars are big cable cars with seating in the middle. I’m scared of heights and thought it was fine looking from the middle and not going near the edge. They also do not overload the cars. We saw a dining car that you can book to have a meal if you wanted. After you buy your tickets you walk through a room with art displays inside the cable cars.

The ferris wheel gives you a great view over the city, but this you can also get from the Schönbrunn Palace, which I'd recommended. Reason to go here is definitely all the attractions in the park. You can visit them, but make sure to take cash!

  • 5/5 Therese Patricia San Diego T. 1 year ago on Google
Riding the Wiener Reisenrad is a must in Vienna, as the iconic 212-foot-tall Ferris wheel was built in 1897. It was also the setting for one of the romantic scenes in the 1995 film Before Sunrise. It might be best to visit in the daytime, though, for a better view from the top.

  • 4/5 Neepa S. 10 months ago on Google
It was a pleasant experience! Although the Ferris wheel is not super huge, you can see the whole city from up top. And I found it a plus that the ride time and waiting time are obviously reduced accordingly!

  • 4/5 Zak H. 9 months ago on Google
Great time was really cool to see and definitely worth doing. Also really not bad if you have a fear of heights you can sit in middle of cart. They also don’t overcrowd each cart which was really nice But understaffed and extremely long line. Also the gift shop was very cheap and tacky

  • 4/5 Ben M. 9 months ago on Google
Really good view of the city at the top in lovely big carriages, the operator was so nice and let us have our own carriage because it was my mums birthday so thank you to him because he was so nice 👍🏼❤️

  • 4/5 michelle g. 7 months ago on Google
The history of this Ferris Wheel is pretty cool. Long line ups though. During the day, you can ride a clear platform with no carriage cabin obstructing your view if you feel adventurous. You will need to wait a really long time for that one as there's only one of them. I opted to go at night when the amusement park was lite up. If you want to see the view to all of the city, go during daytime. There are also some pretty fun looking rides in the park.

  • 5/5 Katha M. 9 months ago on Google

  • 5/5 Tony B. 7 months ago on Google
Added on for €10 to Big Bus tour. Was a nice 15-20 min ride up on the Ferris wheel with great 360° views of Vienna. Definetely would recommend for any visitors to Vienna

  • 5/5 Alexandra 7 months ago on Google

  • 5/5 Tan J. 8 months ago on Google

Is very sturdy, almost feel like doesn't move. It goes very high, much higher than the other one. The price in august 23 is 13,5€ /adult(almost every other entry in prater is 5€/ride)

  • 3/5 Sami P. 7 months ago on Google
Honesty it was ok. The wait was long (30+mins) and the room your standing in doesn’t have A/C or any air movement at all! And then theirs nowhere to sit. I was expecting to be able to see a bit more of the landmarks at night with a pretty glow. But nope so if your going to do this I’d say it be more fun in the day when you can really see everything.

  • 5/5 Deepak K. 8 months ago on Google

Fun ferries wheel. The line is long and there's no AC in the waiting room. The waiting room has a lot of fun display. Nice to have a great view of Vienna on the ferries wheel. You can also book a dinner service on the ferries wheel.

A wonderful view, wonderful weather, unfortunately a very bad smell in the cabin when entered in it but disspareared once we headed up and the gorgeous view for sure helped me forget about it and of course the small windows helped in eliminating it. Defintely recommend to try this Giant Wheel!

  • 5/5 Hanna H. 4 months ago on Google
Have you really been to Vienna if you haven't visited Viennese Giant Ferris Wheel? Well, we visited and it was worth it. Nice experience, even though the weather wasn't so good, hence the views weren't that great. Lovely miniature exhibition with before the photoshoot and jumping in for the ride.

  • 5/5 Stefanie A. 4 months ago on Google
If you’re a fan of the movie “The Third man” this is a must do. If you’re not, then this is still a fun experience. If you have the Vienna City Card you get a discount. The Ferris Wheel has great views of the city. You’re on the ride for about 20mins so you have plenty of time to take in the views. If you’re afraid of heights, there are seats in the inside so you can sit down but still enjoy the view. The Ferris Wheel is located inside the an Amusement park called “The Prater”. We’re here at Christmas time, so there is a small market inside with fun food and things to buy.

  • 4/5 Fruzsi F. 3 months ago on Google New
We were visiting with two little children, you enter into an open room with lovely miniature scenes, however, you don't really have time to look at them, if you would like to get onto the wheel, as the queue starts on the side. However, the scenes were lovely. We had to queue outside as well, but it went relatively fast and as a big bonus - they were not many people in the wagon, we were in, despite the amount of people. Nice views.
