A really impressive monument dedicated to the Russian fighters who fought to free all of Europe. I loved it and.hope that it won't be affected by the current moods in the world. The past is in the past.

This monument stands in tribute to the over 17 thousand Soviet soldiers who died in the liberation of Vienna in the latter stages of the Second World War. The design of the monument is fairly typical of Soviet War memorials, post World War Two. The monument consists of a central column topped with a sculpture of a Soviet soldier with a semi-circular colonnade behind the column. The Soviet soldier is depicted also in fairly typical fashion, armed with a machine gun, holding a Soviet flag. Distinctive feature is the golden helmet and a round golden shield. The monument stands in a prominent location near Palais Schwarzenberg. A little way from the main tourist district, but worth the effort if you have time

The fountain is really lovely, and when I went there in the morning, a rainbow appeared. If you're up for a morning visit, you might get to see this pretty fountain and the magical rainbow too.

Near the end of World War II in Europe, Soviet forces of the 3rd Ukrainian Front were ordered by Joseph Stalin to capture Vienna, both for strategic military purposes and for use as a post-war bargaining chip with the Allies. After intense urban fighting, Vienna was captured by the Soviet Forces on 14 April 1945. The Heroes' Monument of the Red Army in Vienna was built to commemorate the 17,000 Red Army soldiers killed in action during the Vienna offensive in World War II. Reference from Wikipedia. This is a statue of the Soviet army in honor to the soldiers who were killed in action in Austria during WW2. The structure is interesting and the location is quite nice. The fountains makes it more beautiful. If you're around, definitely pay a visit to this location.

Soviet War Memorial is a nice place to visit in Vienna. I have personally visited twice this place, once before winter and once in Spring and from my experience it was better during spring because it was more beautiful with flowers in the beautiful garden 🏡

Very nice monument with a lot of history behind it. The fountain infront is spectacular and if you are tired and lay down on one of the benches nearby then you would feel so relaxed as someone has switched on an air conditioner and it will take few seconds for you to go in deep sleep. I was so tired of exploring when I reached there and had a lovely one hour nap. Recommended!

Both the monument and the fountain are quite beautiful. Take a moment to admire this place and take some nice pictures, especially after sunset when the fountain is illuminated with colors. It is a mesmerising spectacle to see.

A remarkable monument to the Soviet soldiers of the Great Patriotic War in Vienna. Nothing could do justice to the memory of the millions of soldiers who gave their lives from the Baltics, Caucuses, Eastern Europe, Siberia, the Steppe and the far East but this impressive monument gives them a deserved tribute.

A beautiful structure with white marble columns marks a significant historical event. Currently, the ambiance is complemented by blooming tulips, and in the evening the fountain is illuminated with lights that change colours.

We were walking down the streets and a water fountain caught our attention. This turned out to be an amazing historical site 'Heroes monument of red army dating back to the end of WWII in 1945. Would be a great help if an English translation is kept on the site. Nonetheless worth visiting.

An impressive monument dedicated to the Red Army lives lost during the battle for Vienna. The scale is grand and there's also a water fountain that, unfortunately, isn't working during the cold months of the year.

The Red Army Heroes Monument on Vienna's Schwarzenbergplatz was erected in 1945 to commemorate around 17,000 Red Army soldiers who died in the Battle of Vienna towards the end of the Second World War

It's a beautiful sight to see both during the day and night. At night is the most wonderful in my opinion because of the lightshow in the fountain, and during summer it is not as hot if you go there in the evening early night as there is a refreshing breeze. Do not drink the water in the fountain as it is not meant to be drunk.

'If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.' The Bible. John chapter 8v36. However great the liberation by the Soviets was, it is nothing to be compared to the liberation by The Lord Jesus Christ from the tyranny of sin.

Thank you Austrian authorities for keeping this monument in a good shape. It's important to remember how much Soviet Soldiers did during the WWII. P.S.: For those who write "Shame" in reviews: this is a monument in honor to Soviet Soldiers, not Soviet regime. Pay some respect!

Big open square with nice infrastructure. On a hot day there is a hose with holes in it that you can walk through to cool down. Much appreciated when walking through a city in 30 degrees heat.

This monument is beautiful and conveys memory, power and sorrow. I would have loved to understand the meaning behind it, but I couldn't find a sign in English. Plus, every text carved on the monument itself is in Russian, which is super cool but I couldn't understand so I'm sure this place has had a lesser impact on me than it would have had if I'd have actually been provided with an explanation. I was disappointed, because it is really pretty.

This monument is dedicated to the memory of the Soviet army soldiers who died during the liberation of Vienna from the Nazis. I do not think that it is correct to evaluate this monument from an architectural point of view only. I think it should be evaluated from historical point of view also. It is a great memorial includes the colonnade, monument and fountain.

(Translated by Google) The Schwarzenbergplatz monument is the most famous monument of Soviet soldiers in Austria. It was erected in memory of the 17,000 Soviet servicemen who died in the Vienna Offensive in 1945 and was opened on 19 August the same year. It is a balustrade of 26 columns and a sculpture of a Soviet soldier with a gold helmet holding a banner. Next to it there is a beautiful fountain and a small park. It's close to Belvedere. Going there you can visit it.
