There are so many reasons to love Trzesniewski. The food is by far the main one. They serve tiny little open face sandwiches with a couple of toppings on top. If you're Spanish you'll know them as tapas, if you're Venetian they'll remind you of cicchetti. They're about that size and price. The flavors are all wonderful, especially the fish selections. Be aware the cream cheese is spicy so be careful if you have a sensitive tounge. Staff works quickly and efficiently, but seating fills fast around lunch. There are sitting and standing tables inside plus a few standing options outside.

I really like this place! Located in the centre of the city close to Stephansplstz. Delicious sandwiches. The place eas quiet during my visit(morning hours) prices are reasonable and the service was friendly.i will definitelzy return when i visit Vienna again.

A different kind of fast food. Sandwiches of different kinds, very tasty. The place is very busy but the queues are served quickly and customers usually don't spend too long time here, so you will find a place to eat inside. They also serve beer, the pfiff size is perfect for your bite.

Incredible Sandwiches! I read that this place was fantastic, but I was thinking, "How amazing can an open faced sandwich be?". Well, it is! I moaned out loud with every bite. The flavor that comes through with each bite is incredible! This place is busy but there's a reason why! The only downside is the staff isn't friendly and are abrupt at times. But the sandwiches are worth it!

I loved the different assortment of sandwiches. I had 3 and they were very filling. In the showcase there are the various samples they have. What is interesting is the bread does not get soggy. The card which shoes the sampled is in English and German.

Very fun concept, fast service, and nice place. We ordered the herring, hot pepper, bacon and eggs, beef with horseradish, and beef with king oyster. My favorite was the herring and my husband's the hot pepper. The beef ones were just okay since you don't really taste much of the beef flavor.

The sandwiches are very good, but get very expensive if you are hungry. Great place for a quick snack with lots of vegetarian options. The toppings and bread are qualitative.

Surely egg finger sandwiches and beer have to be up there with the best lunches in the world

As a fellow Pole I felt I needed to check the iconic place for so many Viennese. A cozy spot near the central square offering tasty canapés is a nice place to take a break while exploring the city and replenish energy.

Absolutely disappointed. €1.5 for HALF slice of bread??? Taste average, I do better in my house but Pfiff (small beer) is doing the job.

Cannot say it's my favourite place in Vienna. It's in a side street of Graben. The open sandwiches are decent, but in my opinion not worth the price. You can get a glass of wine as well if you fancy.

We came here for a quick snack. They have the cutest sized beers available. Tiny and is literally the size of your hand. We also ordered 4 of the sandwiches. The ones with egg were really nice. The other ones were all mysteries as we weren't sure what we were ordering. This is a great cheap and fast snack. The people leave really fast so you are bound to find a spot.

If you come here with the intention of filling your stomach and relaxing, you will be disappointed. But if you want a quick Austria-like meal, it is perfect. You will enjoy choosing flavors you want. And they are all delicious. Even though it is in the center of city, there are many locals here, and they often do takeout, which I thought was optimal. I felt it’s positioned the same as Onigiri in Japan.

Fresh sandwiches, a very large selection, beautifully presented colours, fresh juices, beer. Great service, very pleasant atmosphere.

A real authentic place just off the main shopping area in Vienna, fast turn around. I Would suggest ordering 3/4 pieces and a drink. Nice vibe but is always very busy it seems.

Very good sandwiches but why, oh why there is no coffee? It sounds so unreasonable:) I was wondering why do you take away such a big chunk of the business:) But as a Polish person I am happy for this Polish accent in Vienna!

A fast paced and popular open sandwich place. The service is at the counter and it is fast and furious. The queue goes down so quite. The issue is that they have so much choice it is quite difficult to decide in time. They have postcards at the desk with the offerings on but you will be have a minute or so to decide before it is your turn in the queue. There is some standing tables outside and tables inside but it is busy and don’t expect a table at peak times. The queue was out of the door. But it is a great place to go for an easy quick lunch.

Very good selection of sandwiches. Well priced too. I wish we had this shop in Bikini Bottom. The mayonnaise was not an instrument .. and neither was the horseradish.

Staff is friendly, place is small but still nice. Take away available. 1 piece = 1.7 € (2023)

A lovely buffet. Our tour guide told us about the origin of the place and the spreads and I just had to try their stuff + the pfiff! It was a lovely experience, I would recommend it :) They have vegan options and I don't think you could go wrong with any type of spread!

It's a tradicional polish place, I'm not a fan of the food and the place is usually crowded, as every restaurant around the tourist area, but it's a great place and the food, are like «Spanish tapas», a great variety of tops for bread toast.

Classic Vienna place serving sandwiches in polish and austrian variations. The interesting fact is the menu did not change much since more than 100 years already. Price is 1,50 per sandwich and 3,90 for glass of sauvignon blanc. It is great aperitivo.

Located in the heart of Vienna city I highly recommend a truffle Canapé with a glass of sparkling wine on the side. Always fresh and delicious. You have the entire store for yourself if you come at the opening hour (9 am I think) on a weekday.

Nice selection of vegetarian, vegan, seafood and chicken spreads. A small beer, called as Pfiff makes the perfect meal. Very reasonable and location is close to major tourist attractions.

Unkind service. Food is absolutely nothing special. Undeservedly overrated.

I didn’t even know what these were when I ordered it. We read about it and people told us to go here. It’s like an open face Sandwich or like a toast. We didn’t know what was what, so we did our best and told the lady to pick for us. We got some with eggs, avocado, bell peppers, anchovies, and some other unknown stuff. Really good for a mid afternoon snack. And yes get a pfiff, it’s just a small glass of beer in a cute glassware.

Vegetarian friendly and must try: I have always heard about this place in various travel videos and when I visited Vienna I visited this place with very high expectations and the restaurant completely full filled it. The trzesniewskis are really good and something which i never tried. Being a vegetarian I mostly failed to find varieties at any restaurant but here i have found quite good varieties of small trzesniewskis and all are equally good. They can be enjoyed with the fresh tap beer.

One of he best places for open faced finger sandwich with a side of beer served in cutest mug. Perfect for a quick snack. Choose from many different options. Each of them guaranteed to be tasty. A must stop for a quick bit.

Nice cosy place to catch up with friends or taking a short break from shopping. The seats were limited but the choices for the small open sandwiches were great. Prices is reasonable and, surprisingly, they dun have coffee but do have beer instead with other soft drinks.

This place was a real highlight from our trip to Vienna. Such a brilliant place to have a quick something to eat and a small beer. The open sandwiches are excellent with a really interesting selection of flavours, my favorite was the crab and egg. The small pfiff beer was great. We went every day for lunch during our trip in Vienna and would highly recommend.

Wide variety of sandwiches and I liked the 1/8l beer glassed. The egg sandwich with truffle is the winner for me! All the sandwiches are yummy!

Good food to try and very tasty, a specialty not to miss. Just a pity there are not more seating places in the restaurant which does not look its best inside.

Sandwiches were ok, just a bit of a novelty as are the very small 1.5 euro beers which go perfectly with the sandwiches (even though I had a 0.33 cl one). The selection is good, lots of options, but ultimately nothing jaw dropping as an experience or food option.

I liked this place, open face sandwiches where you get a nice variety for a fair price. Plenty of vegetarian options too. The small beer was also absolutely perfect for a quick lunch. Would recommend.

Great place for a tasty quick bite. Little bread with delicious spreads on top. Would recommend. Serve draft beer; pfiff size is perfect to accompany!

a shout out to memories of student days! This Viennese landmark has been around for over 150 years and not much has changed -- simple, delicious open faced sandwiches, local wine and the doll-sized beer steins for your 1/8 litre libation. Over the years some English descriptions have been added to the counter to help you with your choices ( for the record, I love the egg and smoked salmon and the egg with roasted red pepper puree. Two things to note: the vast majority of sandwiches are egg bases. if this is a problem, they now have a small vegan selection.

Really small but popular place known for the inexpensive open sandwiches. Visited on a weekend so the place do get a little crammed. The lentil with beets and cream cheese with beets were my favorite.
