Beautiful and magical Christmas market. The lights were amazing and so many of them! Lots of great vendors, lots of handmade etc. which was incredible. Not that many food options though .. if you don’t drink alcohol nor eat meat, you will be disappointed. Still worth the visit! Easy to access to by foot or train/bus.

We went at night and the building was not lit up. I recommend going in the morning for a more well lit scenery. In addition there are some festivals or events going in front of the building sometimes that might cover the front so I do recommend checking whether there are events ahead of time

The Christmas market here was fantastic. We went in late December and it was very busy, but not overwhelmingly so. Enough space to walk around and enjoy the tasteful lights and soak up the atmosphere. The beautiful architecture made an excellent backdrop, and the smell of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts was like a mega-ping of Christmas joy!

A great yard with a beautiful building in it. This year also includes most beautiful Christmas market of Wien. You can find many shops, ice skating area, a carousel, ferris wheel and very well decorated gardens. It’s really gorgeous and amaizing.

We were here last Christmas and it felt very festive. There were lots of people. Lots of food to try out. And many picturesque areas of the park. I wish it’s the winter holidays again soon!

Great location in front of the Rathaus that often hosts events such as the film festival. It is a really nice park with beautiful trees and fountains. There are also public bathrooms. It is the perfect place for concerts and festivals or simply a spot to take an evening stroll. Central location with easy access to transportation.

Let me be Very Honest!!!! I love Vienna ! The city has my heart . But now I have to take a stand . Can the city of Vienna do anything right in 2021 ? People like my self travel from all over the world to go ice skating at the Rathaus Christmas Market which (was) the best in Europe IMO for giving families / people multiple things to do in one location, and now you don’t have an ice rink in 2021? Vienna you had one least year during COVID ! So disappointed 😔 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 I would give this location zero stars if I could 🤬 This is really disappointing. ( no heads up nothing -about no ice rink being made) I wasted money on my trip here from California! I really loved this Xmas market now it’s worse then Prague . Go to Paris if you want to ice skate they at least have a decent Xmas ice rinks . 12-12-21 I’m making a re edit : 15-1-22 As of this week I’ve been informed the ice rink will be opening on 19-1-22 . Still would have been nice to of known last month ! But like traditional Austrian fashion they do what they want whenever they want 😂 be it ice rinks or Mandates …. I hope the rest of you enjoy this rink once it’s up till 6-3-22

Beautiful Christmas market in Vienna city centre. Lots of festival decoration, good for friends and family. You can do ice skating here, you can rent equipment and there are plenty of lockers to store your bags etc. I like the atmosphere here.

Came here for the Christmas market on 22 Dec, totally persuaded by many online posts. The gate itself was enough to invite everyone to go inside. Didn't forget about the carousel at the center of the market. On the other side, they prepared a mini garden decorated with plenty of colorful lights and a Christmas tree. It was almost completely wonderful except for the food shall options. I expected more snacks but no, just beer.

During Advent, this square with the park is transformed into a must-visit Christmas market. The ice rink, which is also open after Christmas, is also great. If you don't like big crowds, come at the beginning of December or during the week.

This is the best Christmas market in Vienna. You should not miss this place under no circumstances, but also if you plan to visit more Christmas markets I strongly recommend this one the last. I visited another 5-6 markets but this is the best by far. Christmas music, a lot of decorations, very nice place and very pleasant atmosphere

The premises of the Vienna Municipality building, which is located on the ring street in District 1, has become very beautiful. This year, after two years of corona epidemic, finally people from different nationalities come to Vienna and visit here. The municipality of Vienna has decorated this place very nicely. Be sure to visit Vienna during Christmas.

Very bright and beautiful building, one of my favourites in Vienna. Well, probably because of the park, that's currently in renovation, but still looks amazing. And having the city theatre right in front makes the platz even better. A lot of statues, a restroom etc.

The City Hall is being renovated at the moment, but you can still see the Neo-Gothic style building from afar. The square was full of vendors and locals on the weekend, it was freezing cold with a summer wear, so I did not venture for some street food, so cold at temp 13C on a very cloudy day. Will try tomorrow! Cheers!

A fantastic setting for the annual winter market, which is one of the larger seasonal markets in Vienna. We came at night when the place was packed. We enjoyed the festive atmosphere. Many craft and food stalls. The kinderpunch was spiced well, and the sausage was great. We wish there were more places to sit, but to be fair there wasn't much room for benches. Also, there were a few spots to pose for pictures.

The Christmas Markets time of the year is truly magical here. You can find all sorts of souvenirs, handmade items, food, mulled wine with different flavors, beer, tea etc. If you choose to go skating, have in mind that there is a 10 euro charge to enter the ring, however the ticket is valid for the whole day. There is an additional charge of 6 euros for renting ice-skates

The Christmas Market at Rathaus in Vienna was a festive delight. The charming atmosphere, adorned with twinkling lights and festive decorations, instantly immersed visitors in the holiday spirit. The variety of stalls offered everything from handcrafted gifts to delectable treats. The ice skating rink added an extra layer of enjoyment, creating a magical experience for both families and tourists. Despite the chilly weather, the warmth of the market's ambiance and the joyful surroundings make it a wonderful seasonal destination. Personally one of the best Winter Christmas Markets in Europe.

The ice rink is one I have not seen before. Slopes and balconies and little lanes round the outside. Fantastic for families and everyone else. Places to eat whilst still on skates for as long as you want!!!! Fantastic place

The Christmas Fair is a winter wonderland. So many small workshops that sell their own handmade ornaments and items! The prices are fair for the food, which are also amazing! The place is kept clean, and there is nothing to interrupt this immersive experience. Truly heartwarming.

Absolutely beautiful building. We came when they were setting up for an event and unfortunately we were not able to stay. Also, there are port-a-poties in front that you can use and don't have to pay ,50 euro like the toilets a few meters away

The most amazing ice skating experience I had in my life. The rink is the biggest I’ve seen with two stories and many routes around the park. The rental was about 9€, the ticket 10€, and the locker 3€. Worth every cent. If you’re around the area during the winter, you should definitely check it out.

In this big square during sumner there is the film festival. Every night there's a maxi screen showing a different event. Also there are a lot of good kiosks for every taste!

Awesome ice skating place. Not just a ring to skate in but also lines that criss cross the surroundings. Beautiful lit up trees with thousands of little lights. Great atmosphere with music. Lots of fun

This is the place to be around Christmas! Lots of handcrafted tree ornaments, souvenirs, presents, toys and whatnot. It is hard not to buy from at least 10 stands from around 150 of them! And if you're there around noon don't hesitate to grab a wurst and a beer or a spiced wine. They are delicious! There is also a ice skating ring there if you're interested.

Quiet, serene and very safe. Good organization for this pandemic time. I feel secure and safe to leave my facemask in the car. Bravo to the government of Austria.

Iconic. Went there and they had the most amazing ice skating tracks I have ever seen, fit with slopes and trees with lights. A truly magical place, even for those like me who were just walking by.

This place can have very unique atmosphere, especially when there is a music or other event in place. We visited in the evening during foodfest and there were many people having fun, eating and drinking. Casually, the place can be a calm park perfect for walks and spending time with friends.

This square is great, summer and winter. In summer it was full of kiosks and bars and a huge stage for the film festival. In Christmas time, it is the main place in Vienna. Full of activities and divers food. 2 ice skating rings for both adults and kids. No one should miss this area when in Vienna or Austria

The Rathausplatz is a square in Vienna in Austria. It is surrounded by famous buildings and is one of the most important squares in Vienna. It is currently full of small wooden houses and beautifully decorated. The Christmas holiday started earlier! there is everything to buy, mostly food, sweets, various handmade art objects and decorations - and cheerful people everywhere. As you can see in some of the photos, on a big billboard in the background it says nicely - Adele's concert on November 19 in Vienna! So who loves Adele .. 😀

Great location to take in the views of the city hall, and also a perfect photospot. When we visited a film festival was going on which added to the vibe of the place and we saw plenty of food options. Nearby park has plenty of seats to tire your feet.

I'm on vacation passing by Vienna for a few days. Just thought of seeing the city hall before leaving and I was surprised to see a huge skating rink is set up with its space. It was very impressive and I had a great time. It wasn't a simple circular skating rink, it has so many different routes and paths to go around. The city did a good job on entertaining the residents and making use of its space for the people.

Great place to hang out and relax for some time during city walks. With a little bit of luck, there's no renovation of the Rathaus building and it looks awesome!

The city hall is probably the most beautiful Gothic style building in Vienna. It really is gorgeous, and it can be visited (for the info when etc check their website). There is almost always some event, festival or market happening at the square in front of Rathaus. In winter this is the largest Christmas market at this square. Also the most commercial and crowded but anyways it is nice to stop by.

BEST PLAZA FOR EVENTS This plaza hosted Vienna Pride last weekend and it was the perfect venue for accompanying all 300,000 attendees. Highly recommend checking it out when there’s less people.

Came for the Naschmarkt and it didn't disappoint. Beautiful light decorations and Christmas atmosphere with a great sense of wonder and magic appropriate for the time of year. An experience that should be had at least once in your lifetime. Incredible.

Probably the most busiest overwhelmingly market there is 😅 very busy it was like a huge cattle market going into the slaughter house - for introverts you’ll quickly want to run around this part take pictures and run. Very decorated and lots of lights, beautiful - just too many people

Saw it at the Christmas market. Way too crowded, but awesomely decorated! Pleasent vibes, colors, boutiques. Chilling music and great entertainers Though prices did skyrocket since the last visit I did , about 3 years ago ...

  • 5/5 Mat B. 1 year ago on Google
We have enjoyed Christmas market with plenty of activities in the beautifully decorated park and ice skating ring. The accessibility is possible by foot from any old city center location as well as by public transportation. Unfortunately we could not visit mayor house during that time as it wasn’t available due to Christmas market and number of visitors.
