Avoid. We were offered a room in the basement since they overbooked, it was horrid, very very dark and bad smell. The fact that it is close to the metro is not an advantage, since other hotels have similar prices and distance to metro stations. Staff is very rude. We left and stayed somewhere else for 10 EUR more. The rooms are leagues better. Once again, I went through this so you don’t have to. Avoid this business like the plague.

I can't really recommend this place, unfortunately. Our flight was delayed by an hour, so we arrived at the hotel at midnight. The person at the service desk seemed surprised to see us and said we couldn't go to a proper room, and instead took us to the basement where he walked past what I can only assume is the heating system and led us to a room which we couldn't lock. The room was not great....really. it was spacious, but that's about it. Bathroom with shower, kitchen unit in very poor condition. A large fridge freezer randomly in the corner. Two double beds and whilst it had windows there was limited natural light, due to being in the basement. It also has a set of bathroom scales which made me think we'd been put in a staff members quarters perhaps. The next day we were up late and missed breakfast. Kindly they had offered to make us something which was very nice. The new member of staff at the desk was apologetic but unfortunately all of their actual rooms were reserved. Clearly they had overbooked. So we had to remain in our current room. Fortunately he was able to lock the room when we went out and when we returned - but it was less than ideal. The staff were very friendly, the hotel was relatively clean and at least the location was fine for our needs. For €100 per night, however - this is not good enough. We were offered a €20 discount which frankly was insulting. Overall, It was a bed and place for us to sleep during a very busy weekend, but I would strongly suggest you look elsewhere for accomodation if visiting Vienna.

Worst hotel ever, minus 100 points!! Style of a cheap youth hostel with super ratty furniture for 100€ / night! Scam!! Room was smelling extremely of cigarette smoke it was super loud as directly next to the street. Could not sleep all night and got sick afterwards. Decided to leave after 1 night although 2 already paid because it was unbearable! Never got my money back although promised. Total scam stay away.

I was cheated by this hotel, with my data given at the hotel, they called me and cheated me with over 200 euros. the booking was through Booking, (I say it broke their database) and they did nothing about it - Booking

Rating of Hotel City Residence Vienna Positive sides: - Affordable prices of 40-50€ pr. night - Incredible friendly staff - Friendly guests - Free cleaning everyday (Which is very good considered that it's only a 3 star hotel) - Good bathroom - Good air circulation - 15min from City centre Negative sides: - The interior could be at bit outdated (Not an actual issue) - Internet wasn't always working (My only issue) Overall: - The hotell is a great alternative to the more expensive hotels in Vienna. The rooms are good for the price. I would say that the only issue with my stay is that the internett didn't always work, which is a must. I would recommend this hotel for someone who likes to do budget traviling, without sacrificing too much comfort.

Very nice and clean in a good location, best value for money. The receptionist Shams was a very nice, friendly and helpful lady, she deserves a great aprreciation. We checked out before 12 but left our luggage at the reception until the evening and when we went back to take them, we had a free coffee as well!

Good hotel with public transportation nearby. The staff is welcoming and helpful

Great position by metro station and tram stop. Many choices for food and drink, also supermarkets in walking distance. Although the people in reception are nice and helpful it is difficult to communicate in English. They also have to be more careful with linen in the rooms and of course with the wifi. Three days was not working and nobody did anything to fix it.

It's okay for a one night stay for the 75€ we paid. The rooms are a bit dusty and yes it is a bit louder at night but not as bad as other reviews make it out to be. The lobby is not heated and it's actually cold there. The towels have stains and holes. The bed sheets are clean and the bathroom too. No safe in the room. WiFi works mostly but automatically stops bigger downloads. One thing I want to say though is: Listening to the front desk man wanting to charge someone for a night for 220€ on the phone is ... 75€ without any breakfast is already pricey for what it is but that's Vienna for you I guess.

The hotel is situated at the main street so don't expect to much quiet in the night. Spent there one night, booked a room with double bed, instead i was given a room with two separate beds, there was a hard smell like the previous guests were smoking in the room. Bathroom small, but clean. At reception works Arabic people, they barelly speak English.

Decent accomodation but it is not made for light sleepers because the windows do not block much of the noise that is cause by the everlasting traffic. The location is great though because you have got the U-bahn right next to you and grocery stores are within a 5 minute walking distance.

The hotel has an excellent location. Metro and tram station just 80 metres. The rooms are very small 2.7mx4.0m including toilet and corridor. The room is well equipped. One sofa, luggage stand, side table and cupboard. The bathroom is well equipped too. The room was without ac and was unlivable in hot summer day. The noise of traffic is so loud that it's difficult to sleep. The staff is very good and helpful. Gave us two fans for the hot day. The cleaning of rooms is done everyday.

Other reviews are mentioning the closeness to the metro station as it’s only positive fact. Rooms reek of smoke and are very noisy. Staff is very rude, offering rooms in the basement…

Good clean room and bathroom located in the interior court of the hotel with quiet. I prolonged one extra day, and I was charged with additional ten euros.

They took really good care of me , very polite, i have had 1 bedroom room. It was ok for just by myself. Only one remark. The wifi loses connection sometimes.

The location of the hotel is exceptional. The host was very friendly, the breakfast was coffee and cake. The room was big and clean. The only small issue I could find was that the rooms are right outside a busy street, but if you keep the windows closed you can barely hear the noise.

The room was clean, well-equipped and comfortable. The whole facility is nice, the staff polite and always smiling. :) Breakfast could have been 7.99 EUR, but I did not take it so I can't comment on that. This hotel is perfect to stay for a few nights. Great transportation, trams and the U-Bahn in thr vicinity. Will come back!

The hotel is very basic, no frills. The lobby is simple, and when I was there the glass façade of the counter was broken. The rooms are tiny, but fine for simple needs. If you need air conditioning, be sure to specify this at the time of booking because only some rooms have it, and the windows open to a very loud street and train station. The people are nice. If you are on a tight budget and want easy access to public transportation, this place can meet your needs.

Low quality room for a cheap price. I got what I expected so I have no complaints, but bare in mind that this is indeed just a hole with a bed and running water.

Excellent stay, the staff were very helpful, accommodating, and polite. Highly recommend for a stay in Vienna :) thank you for the hospitality!

Half the rooms face a busy street which is very noisy, even with windows shut. We had requested a quiet room for 2, because that's not what we received we spoke to staff , who were very nice, and we were moved to the only room available on the other side of the hall. We went from 2 twins and some space to 1 double and a room with no space for even 2 suitcases. We never saw the bar or restaurant open. Also when we were enjoying the evening on the back patio someone in the room above threw 2 buckets of water on us!! Would not recommend.

We booked the hotel for one night and then decided to book it for another one, but they have decided to raise the rate by 10€. Also, we told them twice to change the towels, but with no luck. I don’t recommend this place. Try to avoid it.

DONT STAY HERE!!!! This is the WORST hotel I've ever been in my entire life. We arrived and the room SUCKED to cigarettes, the air conditioning didn't cool (IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER WHEN OUTSIDE IS 31°C) and the wifi didn't work in the room. We complained with the staff ans they were completely unwilling to help, rude, and threatening us. Their solutions for us were "open the window", as if that was going to cool the room in the middle of summer, or "all the other guests have wifi"... fine, we are THREE people and none of us have wifi, so that is not enough for us. They even told us that for them it was better if we left because they could charge more for our room... and on top of all of this, they ensured us they were giving us our money back and now they won't. We ended up searching for another hotel at 12am. I just can't believe how people working on the tourist industry can be so negligent and indisposed to offer a good customer experience.

WORST PLACE TO STAY They charged €80 per night and I booked for 8 nights, but really it is not worth the money. They have mentioned it is a 3-star hotel, but very very poor service. Very Tiny rooms and no room service. During check-in they said coffee was free but every day I noticed the coffee machine was not working and the receptionist asked me to drink coffee in the train station (pay and drink). My room was booked at 4th floor and the telephone was not working. So, I have to walk down for everything. The receptionist was very RUDE when I asked to fix the telephone. The room doesn't have blinds and there is no insulation and very noise pollution due to which can't sleep. No proper WIFI connection. Very poor WIFI strength, can't work on my laptop continuously. Please don't recommend this Hotel for others

I live in Italy and for Italian standards this is not a 3 star hotel but rather a 2 star at the most We were there for 5 nights. Cleaning was superficial and inconsistent. As a couple we were given only 1 towel each to use for face, hands and bath. Ughhhh!! The staff was nice but there was a lack of professionality. Breakfast was average...the advantage is that it has a subway station right opposite and you can walk downtown if you wish...about 4/5 km away. I wouldn't choose to go back.

Have stayed at this hotel several times before and always got a good value for my money. Reception is open 24 hours which is very helpful! Has the underground station Alser Straße right on the opposite side of the road + tram stations nearby. Very conveniently located!

Bad cudtomer service. The facilities weren't so confortable. It's simply an acceptable place to stay.

The internet does not work, the worst internet I ever had, the woman at reception has some kind of magic she thinks it works for the internet which is basically connecting to wifi and waiting for 2 minutes then the internet will get synergy and energy from the universe after that it will work, well I tried but no wayy! - overall small rooms, horrible internet, good location, normal price!
