I had the most terrible and inhumane birth experience at this hospital. The female doctor(seems to no longer work there, name ended with "owitz"or so ) who delivered my child via a C-section was extremely rude. After my experience there I had a second child at another hospital and my experience was a very different. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. After sharing my bad experience with other mothers who also delivered at St. Josef, I realized that I was lucky, because their experiences were worse than mine. Their children were deprived of oxygen because the doctors waited too long to take the babies out and now they have life long consequences. Just heartbreaking.

I chose St Josef because I had had many excellent things about it and was sure I would be well taken care of . I was wrong . My pregnancy was difficult and thrice I was admitted at this institution. The nurses were rude , service delivery was slow and they were not organized. One time I spent the day there going through tests etc before admission. When I was finally admitted a nurse came to get me for CTG. I went and hours after I got back I asked when I would get dinnner , at this point I was very hungry , i had come as an emergency case so I had no packed snacks and I had not eaten all day . The nurse who has taken me to CTG said well dinner was served when you went for CTG so 🤷🏽‍♀️. She just shrugged. So imagine being in hospital pregnant and sleeping on an empty stomach because they couldn’t be bothered to be organised. The nurses were rude , didn’t bother explaining anything to me even when I asked. This is just one of the many incidences that made me change hospitals at 33 weeks . I just couldn’t imagine giving birth there. As a woman of color in a predominantly white space one can’t be too careful especially when in a vulnerable position. Kindly note I have heard that the maternity ward is different and the people there are great , I can neither confirm nor deny this as I did not take the chance to find out .

Our heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff at the hospital. The care and support my wife received during childbirth were beyond compare. The medical team was skilled, compassionate, and attentive, making us feel safe and at ease. The facility was clean and well-equipped, ensuring a smooth delivery. This joyous occasion was made even more memorable by the hospital's outstanding care. Thank you for an unforgettable experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I gave birth in the hospital a few month ago. The antenatal care, doctors and midwives were great, the facilities were fine too. Medical personnel seemed to be highly qualified and midwives were very attentive and helpful. However, we were rushed out of the hospital in 3 days instead of 5 as soon as my baby took 5gr above the allowed 10% weight loss. I was concerned about the weight and jaundice, but the doctor in charge dismissed my concerns. As a result, we ended up in the intensive care a week later with serious jaundice and insufficient weight gain. Further, the lady we shared the room with had a very strong cough. Apart from the fact that we couldn’t sleep because of that I was very worried that my newborn would catch something too. I again raised this issue with the midwife in charge, but was told there are no other free rooms though I could see myself that there were empty beds in other rooms. The result - on release my baby was diagnosed with Covid along with jaundice. The hospital was the only place she could have got it as all our family tested negative. Overall, I don’t think I would recommend the hospital for the above reasons. The negligent early release could have ended up very bad for my child and only thanks to the doctors in St Anna Kinderspital and Ottakring Hospital she didn’t suffer serious complications.

Highly recommend! During my pregnancy I had some check ups there, never had to wait for long, everyone are very helpful. During giving birth, even in the pandemic times, I felt well taken care of. Letting my husband to be with me in this moment of my life and also letting him visit us every day was very helpful. After, we were there few times with our daughter - Kinderambulanz also only to recommend. Thank you St. Josef team for being so loving for new mothers!

My wife gave birth in St. Josef Hospital & we are extremely satisfied. A public hospital could hardly be better. The care my wife got during a difficult birth was great. The midwives (Hebammen) there are amazing (95% of them). I would like to thank all the staff in the hospital & specially the midwives for the care my wife got. We will have a very positive memory of the whole experience.

Discrimination and ignorance My experience with this hospital was extremely frustrating and disappointing. Although my primary complaint included extreme abdominal pain—caused by diastasis recti and torn muscles after four pregnancies that massively impacted my daily life—my medical care was hampered by the blanket application of BMI guidelines. The fact that I suffer from lipedema, a condition that affects BMI and makes an ideal number unrealistic, was almost ignored in the clinic's decision-making process. Focusing on BMI as a criterion for treatment eligibility felt like an additional hurdle that had nothing to do with my underlying health issues. Multiple promises to call me back regarding my condition and possible treatment options were not followed through. This pattern of repeated neglect and lack of proactive communication not only exacerbated my physical suffering, but also deeply undermined my confidence in the facility's ability to provide appropriate care. Failure to seek medical help due to rigid BMI guidelines can exacerbate psychological problems in affected women and, in their desperation, drive them to suicidal thoughts. That's exactly what I'm experiencing at the moment. This review serves as an urgent call to revise medical protocols and practices to ensure that all patients – regardless of their BMI – receive the necessary and appropriate medical care they need and deserve.

Best hospital , very midwifery , I had a very positive birth experience except for the episiotomy that was a medical necessity . I want to thank the midwife who accompanied me her name is Magda , she is a great midwife so caring and gentle and understanding person. Also the medical staff I forget the names, and the night and day shifts staff at stationary 23 I think , if I’m not mistaking. I recommend this hospital .

My experiences there have consistently been the worst, primarily due to the limited English-speaking staff. I would strongly advise against recommending this hospital to anyone. It's incredibly frustrating to receive appointments scheduled months in advance at 9:30 AM, only to still be waiting for an examination at 1 PM. This is, in my opinion, the worst hospital to visit.

From the start, the midwife couldn't accurately determine my baby's position. In any case, the situation was not as it should have been. That's why I asked for a cesarean section quite early on. The midwife's answer was: "You're in the wrong hospital, Hasal." The midwife was of the opinion that despite the suboptimal situation, a normal delivery was possible - but unfortunately that wasn't the case! An attempt was made to turn the baby inside me and I was given labor stimulants and suppositories. After hours (15 hours!) of trying, the doctor came along and advised me to have a cesarean section. So it ended up being a cesarean section! I was terrified that there was something wrong with my baby since he was stuck for hours and was also a stargazer. The cesarean section right from the start would have saved us both a lot! In the end everything went well, but it took me 1.5 years to recover mentally from the birth. You may forget the pain, but you never forget the fear for your child. With this review I would like to finally end it and warn other mothers about the “no caesarean section policy” at St. Josef.

Gave birth in 2013 there. The care was great, the midwives and doctors very calming, friendly and motivating! They all really supported me to give a complete natural birth, no PDA, no c-section and a big focus on breastfeeding. The only thing I could have wished for more, was more patience with my baby with the breastfeeding.

My wife gave a birth in last week and hospital was perfect. Staff are really kind and nice. They helped us everytime and birth process was also really professional. Just staff who is checking covid tests at the front desk was really rude. If your test result was expired with a difference of 2 hours, she wont allow you even if you came to pick up your child and wife. Except for her, hospital is perfect.

I participated in my daughter's labor. I say that I participated, because I was not there as a spectator, but being an active part of the labor. I didn't give birth to my daughter, I didn't feel the labor pains, my body is still intact and strong. My wife suffered and went to her physical limit to bring our little seed into this world. But I was there, in her every contraction, I was there in every sigh of pain, I was there holding her in my arms and living in our moment, taking care of my family and being the strength and support for my loved one. It was 14 hours of labor, it was exhausting and suffering, but it was also beautiful, magical, poetic, it was our moment, where our connection was strengthened even more. My heart is filled with the most beautiful emotions every time I remember that moment. St Joseph Krankenhaus, I have no words to describe this amazing hospital, I can't think of a better place for us to experience all of this. The midwives, the nurses, the doctors, the pediatricians, how much sensitivity and respect for us, for our moment. They were a fundamental part of all of this, I can only thank them. The "birth ritual" conducted by the midwives was the dance of life, the path of light for our Sementinha. And where some people see suffering, I see beauty, the beauty of giving birth to the beauty of life.

I'm torn to give it a nice feedback or a bad one, so there goes 3 stars. The first pregnancy was forced to be a C section due to feet down position and low thrombocytes. It was handled well, the nurses were very nice and no complains whatsoever. Ok, maybe not exactly good on controlling the lab results, but I won't go there, just be careful and ask yourself for whatever worries you. The second pregnancy was supposed to be a natural one. I, as a father, was not really prepared that my wife would not think clearly and I had to overrule/intervene. I recommend not to go without a Doula or someone who can think straight. That's a failure on my side. But when the contractions started at 20:00, the nurse seemed nice and recommended to sleep some more at home, because of 1 cm opening. Other option was to have a medication that lets sleep in on and off state. We went home. After 4 hours the contractions were unbearable and we went back for that medication. Still 1 cm. One doctor came and said that epidural was not an option, bacause of allergies. "Didn't you know it? You thought it would work out, didn't you? Now that it's out of the door, of course you're mentally already configured to have epidural". We suspected it, but nobody warns you beforehand of that. That piece of paper was given with words to read at home, sign. With doctors check couple of days before they have all the papers and don't mention or even look at the epidural consent papers. ASK YOURSELF EVERYTHING. Don't expect them to check for you. Well, that was not the end. So what, the epidural was out. No biggie, for me. For my wife, sure. Unpleasant to hear it. The doctors came and gave options: c section or just have a birth without it. The doctor said she had her second one without too and it's doable. Thank you for that, doc, I appreciate it. I thought my wife heard it too, because we're both listening. But man was I wrong. She was hearing words but apparently with contractions it's hard to grasp. She told me later that she doesn't remember lots of the things that happened that night. Right, night, tired. And the hebamme was kind of pushing to c section, it seemed like. On one hand she was telling that the pain will be stronger, but will feel differently, because no endorphins are kicked in yet (ok, that was helpful). It seemed like there were no other options other than c section. No mentioning to walk, have some bath, some glucose pills or something else. So I (!) suggested maybe we'll try that medication and try to sleep to have more strength in the morning and decide then. So we did that. 4 am comes. I asked to come and change the diapers because of blood. Did that. And then she asked how she feels, did she get some sleep, will she be able to sleep some more? On-and-off sleep, the medication seem to wear off. That's to be expected. Then she said what do we do, should she call the doctor, if my wife wants? I don't know the exact wording, but it was clear to me the doctor was for C section. So being scared for that I asked when is the latest time to do a C section. Let's say she has 6cm opened, is that too late? No, they could do it during labor too, there is always time. Nice... Later my wife said she was thinking it's just to discuss what to do, not for the actual OP. She said yes. I didn't intervene too, thinking the pain was really unbearable and she has already decided. Failure on my part again. Failure on nurse to support her some more, I guess? Maybe she wanted to sleep more or there is really no option? Anyway, 10 minutes afterwards they came, preparing for operation. I was already disappointed that no natural birth is possible.

I have had my ovarian cyst surgery done here and I would like to give credits to all the nurses and doctors. They have done an excellent job starting from admit, preperation for surgery, surgery until after care. After 2 days I could get discharged and go home to celebrate Christmas which I was very happy about. The wounds are healing neatly - no complications. Very professional. Kudos!!

St. Josef Hospital really impressed me during the delivery of my son. Over a period of approximately two days, my needs were lovingly cared for by a team of experienced midwives. Each and every one of them showed exceptional kindness, competence and dedication, with the mother's well-being always at the forefront. The delivery rooms were not only modern but also extremely well equipped, which helped my partner and I immediately feel at home and not feel any of the typical hospital vibes. A special thank you goes to the midwives Eva H. and Lena S., who accompanied the birth of my son with me. Their tireless commitment, motivation and expertise made this experience something special for me. Without them it certainly wouldn't have been so positive. Although I fully recommend St. Josef Hospital, I would still advise considering outpatient delivery if possible. Unfortunately, the triple room that was available to us did not offer the relaxing atmosphere that we would have liked. Nevertheless, I would like to emphasize that the staff at St. Josef Hospital was also impeccable in this regard.

I would like to thank you for the emergency help that was given to me on ward 30/31 a few months ago. A toenail had become so loose after a blow that it had to be pulled out. All the doctors and nurses on duty treated me so nicely and took away my fears so much that I was able to leave the hospital feeling reassured and well cared for. Many, many thanks to all the employees involved in this wonderful hospital.

I gave birth to my daughter in June 2019. I cannot say anything but huge THANK YOU to all the staff. Extremely nice and helpful. I am still breastfeeding with no problems thanks to huge help from their amazing midwifes. The birth was a bit more difficult for me but still have nice memories. Thank you for the great work you are doing there and I highly recommend! If I will have a second one, just St. Josef ☺️

(Translated by Google) We had a rather longer birth and a total of 3 midwives. We came by car as completely newbies, first child and we were taken by the hand almost through the whole birth. The St.Josef and his birth station have distinguished themselves by their professionalism and responsiveness to the patient. We were in the circle room "river" which had a bathtub. In one or the other emergency situation, a gynecologist, pediatrician, Caesarean section doctor and several midwives were immediately on hand (within 1-2 minutes). We would particularly like to emphasize the fact that we respond to our personal wishes. Everything was explained in a loving manner and compatible with the situation and coordinated together. So the birth was a wonderful experience with all the highs and lows you can imagine. - But always at eye level. The debriefing was also informative and helps to process the experience just immensely. Thanks again to Julia who welcomed us, to Esther who got us through the day and the two other midwives where I forgot the names again (Victoria and .....?!) We can highly recommend you and the entire team. (Translated by Google) Terrible birth - The first birth at the SJK in 2018 was wonderful. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and I felt very comfortable right from the start. I was really looking forward to my second birth here. Unfortunately, it turned out quite differently. There were far too few midwives in the delivery room and I was alone with extreme pain almost all the time. I was never asked how I was doing or offered painkillers etc. Then there was an emergency Caesarean section, which luckily went well. Then I woke up in the recovery room and had a terrible experience with the anesthetist. The midwives / nurses on the ward were very different. Some were super friendly, kind, helpful and just great. A nurse gave me e.g. Unfortunately, I didn't want to help in the middle of the night (3 a.m.), even though I was in extreme pain and couldn't move because of my caesarean section. Unfortunately, the entire stay traumatized me so much that I had panic attacks in the first months after birth and had to undergo trauma therapy, although all of this could have been avoided so easily. The therapist in the house was unfortunately overwhelmed with my situation and accordingly I now do the therapy privately ... So I would definitely advise taking a midwife with you so that someone can take care of you during childbirth. In the long run, you save a lot, because the therapy for the treatment costs at least as much and I would have gladly saved myself the sleepless nights, nightmares and tears in retrospect ... The delivery rooms and rooms are really beautiful, modern and great! Too bad that the quality has dropped so much since 2018. (Original) Furchtbare Geburt - Die 1.

But after a lot of pain and tears, I found myself unplanned at the end of May / beginning of June in the St. Josef Hospital, quite desperate and full of fear. Thanks to Dr. Gerhard Vavrovsky and Prim. Univ. Prof. Dr. Johannes Zacherl, my two men were always by my side and I think I have never been so grateful to people as to all the doctors and all the nursing staff at St. Josef Hospital Vienna who made this possible in Corona during these times. We have experienced so much humanity and charity - we are still simply speechless and infinitely grateful. My husband and baby were allowed to be with me every night, every hour - so much was helped and taken off. My heart is full of beautiful feelings for all these people. We owe it to you that I am well again today and at home and that I can still breastfeed my son. We will never forget all of this! THANK YOU! I was treated very friendly and competently from the start. The collaboration between the Breast Health Center and Plastic Surgery is excellent. Here you feel like a person and not a number! From the reception to the sisters and the nursing staff (station 32) everyone is very keen and always has an open ear for all concerns! Despite the stress for the hospital staff, the humor is not neglected! The surgeons explained everything in detail and were also very friendly and professional. (Thanks to Mr. Primar Todorov and his team). My special thanks go to Dr. Sagmeister and his team from the BRZ !! I have never seen a doctor who is so committed to his patients !! I always thought that such excellent care and treatment is only available to private patients! We need doctors who work equally for those patients much more !! Thank you so much, Dr. Sagmeisterr !! (Translated by Google) Been to the house twice for gastro and endoscopy. Wonderful doctors, nice sisters everything really great. Regarding the ambulance, I was waiting in line in the gynecology today at 9:39. Since many people were standing, I only came to the outpatient clinic at 10:02. The lady there briefly consulted the doctor in room 1, which was announced, sorry not come another time today. I was in the magistrate for business this morning and could only be in the house at 9:35 am, not everyone has an understanding boss and can always go away. If it means until 10:00 and you are there at 9:39 then you should get your hands on it. I have to get a second opinion from my private gynecologist and I am so and so scared because of that and then you are simply sent away. I was close to tears, but the lady was not interested in registering. That is the star deduction. Just a shame, because I really like the hospital. PS Addendum: only wanted to briefly express my displeasure and just wanted to tell the front desk that I didn't think that's okay. A really nice sister said I should wait a bit, called a woman Donna and I was still taken. The 5 star is added again.

Of course I will do that here too. A big compliment and keep it up One more note ... as I have noticed here is the staff cut which I think is a pity. It's not right that one should work for two. Especially not in a hospital. Neither doctors nor staff. LG to the management? (Translated by Google) Will probably give birth to my first child here in March. Unfortunately, I had to come earlier due to stinging in the abdomen and severe nausea and vomiting. Was treated TOP from start to finish, starting with the admission, the midwife in the delivery room and the doctor, here a lot of calm and warmth is radiated, also worries are taken seriously. In the end, my baby was fine, I only had very pronounced heartburn. Nevertheless, a CTG, urine, blood, ultrasound was done for safety. My second visit was in the midwifery outpatient clinic for the birth. The two midwives I got to know looked very competent, human and lovely! I am happy to give birth here. The staff really takes away the fear of birth! See you soon :) (Original) Werde hier voraussichtlich im März mein erstes Kind gebären.

Unfortunately, it was an emergency Caesarean section (with epidural anesthesia), which I still found positive due to the nice and great team. During the whole stay I felt well and safely looked after by the whole team. The midwives at the weekly ward are a dream and you can always count on them. The surgery was painless and carried out quickly, professionally and punctually. The whole experience was made easier by the wonderful people who at all times were reassuring, kind and helpful. The surgeon, nurses, and anesthesia was exceptional and the whole procedure went smoothly! The hospital itself has a calm, welcoming atmosphere and is spotlessly clean. My life has been transformed as a result of this treatment and I can now lead a normal life. I will be forever grateful to all for this and will never be able to thank you enough for all that you have done. Be proud St.Josef Hospital, you and your staff are amazing! 🤩 Feleke

I am grateful for the care received here for me and my twin boys. Even though during our hospital stay (birth+post-birth) we encountered many shifts of doctors and Hebammen, the transition was always seamless. Also the information on how to care for a newborn was there and highly appreciated by myself. I could see that the employees here like what they are doing, they act like a team and manage to have a smile on their face even in the late hours of the night. I do not regret choosing this hospital for a more "human" approach, it turned out it was the right choice.

Dear Team, I would like to thank you very much with this review! I found my time at St. Josef Hospital to be very warm, caring and helpful. You're doing a great job! Birth: I had a secondary caesarean section and was very overwhelmed by the speed with which it was carried out. However, I had an incredibly kind and sensitive anesthesiologist who looked after me throughout and kept an eye on me. The team consisting of doctors, nurses and midwives was also very professional and supportive. Midwife-led birth: I think it's great that this is so important at St. Josef Hospital. I felt very well looked after by my midwife (Viktoria) and found that the communication and consultation with the doctors was always very transparent and honest. Rooms and care: I was accommodated in a three-bed room, which initially worried me because I was weak after the operation and needed a lot of rest. Nevertheless, I found the exchange with the other mothers surprisingly pleasant :) Of course, it could also be a stroke of luck that things worked out so well with the other people. I found the support from the team on the ward to be pleasant and supportive. Regular checks and on-call availability (medication, support with breastfeeding and changing diapers, etc.) made the new situation with the baby easier. Even the cleaning staff had encouraging words for me when I wasn't feeling well emotionally. On the first day, the catheter is removed (after the cesarean section) and you are encouraged to get up and move around. I personally found that very important to me! Birth and the first time afterwards are an incredibly intense experience and are perceived very individually. Therefore I can only speak for myself, but I would like to share my impressions here! Thank you very much
