This monument stands in tribute to Franz Peter Schubert, a 19th century Austrian composer who produced over 600 vocal works and 7 symphonies despite a relatively short career after dying at the age of only 31. This monument is a marble sculpture of a seated Schubert. He sits with his legs crossed, an open book sitting on his lap. His right arm is resting on the back of his chair and he is looking upwards to the sky. The statue sits atop a pedestal around which are relief sculptures with allegories to Muses around the four sides of the pedestal

Was recently in Vienna and walked through Stadtpark enjoying the numerous monuments to historically important Austrian artists, writers and composers such as Franz Schubert (1797-1828). On this occasion, I was able to view the many statues an monuments with blue skies and a bit of snow on the ground. That was nice. Designed and erected in 1872 by Austrian sculptor, Carl Kundmann, here you see Schubert in a reclined seated position, with a draping overcoat and holding a book. The statue is atop a rectangular-shaped pedestal with bas reliefs on each side. You'll find the Schubert monument north of the park lake, near to the Friedrich von Amerling bust.

A relatively straightforward monument that is perhaps a little too imposing for it's subject matter but is still worth visiting.

Designed by the sculptor Carl Kundmann, it shows Schubert sitting pensively, poised to put down notes on paper and just waiting for the right inspiration. The base of the statue features three reliefs dedicated to the themes musical imagination, instrumental music, and vocal music.

The Viennese love their composers as evidenced by the numerous monuments, statues and busts designed and places around the city in their honour. In the Stadtpark, you can find the bust of Franz Schubert, created by Carl Kundmann in 1872. The monument of a seated Schubert on a marble base and is quite suitable in its place in the Stadtpark in an open space area backed by a nice tree line. While visiting Stadtpark, there are other statues and monuments worth having a look at, including the famous gilded statue of Johann Stauss, which is probably the famous of Vienna's statues.

Okay, the Strauss monument is more impressive but I'm giving this five stars for his compositions. As a vegetarian, his is the only trout for me.

The monument to the composer Franz Schubert is located in the Stadtpark in Vienna. One station from Saint Stephen's Cathedral on the U3 metro line or one station from Vienna Mitte station again with the U3 metro line. The composer is represented sitting in an armchair with his head raised and an open book on his knees. GPS- 48.20570,16.37970

(Translated by Google) I'm not going to expect anything from a statue, but it seems more meaningful to be able to see the daily life of the vacant people in the park. There are many other monuments. (Original) 동상 하나에 엄청난 걸 기대하고 갈 건 아니지만 공원에서 빈 사람들의 일상을 구경할 수 있던 게 더 의미가 있는 것 같습니다. 다른 모뉴먼트들도 많고요.
