Dieter was an excellent guide. He truly cared for the well being of the people on his tour. I was traveling with mobility limited senior companions and he ensured our safety and comfort. He had a deep knowledge of the city and explained well and answered questions with ease. He knew all the historical information and shared great insights.

Reiner was my guide for the English tour. He was really good, very informative and answered all our questions. Really good tour, well worth doing it for an introduction to Vienna and also for getting good recommendations of where to go next!

Antonia, our guide was exceptional. Her manner was very professional. Moreover, her knowledge of and passion for what she does were infectious: she made history come alive! Her tour was one of the highlights of our stay in Vienna. I certainly would use Good Vienna tours again and would recommend. Thank you, Antonia, for a truly wonderful experience!

We really enjoyed the tour. It was very informative and full of interesting and funny facts. Our guide Michael went above and beyond to give us a full picture of the past and present of the city of Vienna. He gave us some great tips and recommendations. Thank you!

Highly knowledgeable guide who hosted the group with care and consideration on a tour that can be a sensitive topic for some. Communication was clear and the content was excellent. If you are interested in Hitler’s time in Vienna before and during the war this is a quality choice.

Michael was an excellent tour guide! He was very engaging and funny, and he clearly loves Vienna. In addition to highlighting interesting parts of the city, and showing us why it’s consistently voted “most livable,” we really appreciated the way he acknowledged problematic parts of Austrian history. The tour was excellent and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Vienna.

We enjoyed the tour, very knowledgeable guide and interesting stories. I would say the only small disappointment was the fact that the route was only focused on the royal family of Vienna, we had 3 big stops with long stories, maybe a bit more stops with shorter stories could nice, and we were hoping to learn or hear something about Mozart of other Austrian famous people but the story was mostly focusing the royal family of the 19th century. Even so, we really enjoyed it, the organization is very good, and we highly recommend it.😊

Our tour guide Eddie was quite entertaining and clearly had a good knowledge of Vienna and its history. The walk between stops were just the right length and not to strenuous, even for me as I had a bad foot! He gave some useful tips on where to eat and drink as well as how to find other places of interest. All in all, a great experience with a real character.

My sister and I took part of the Vienna tour and we loved it so much! It was very informative and super interesting facts. We saw the must see places and got all the facts in. Our tour guide Michael was so nice and open for any questions. We did the tour in German. I can highly recommend to do a tour instead of doing it on your own because who I really get to know the city better and by a local.

(Translated by Google) The worst possible freetour The Tour supposedly in Spanish was carried out by a Brazilian guide practically in Portuguese and who was not understood. I've done free tours in various cities in Europe and I've never seen one so bad, more focused on making jokes about sex than explaining the city. We left the tour after giving it a try, half an hour lost.

We booked a place in advance for the tour. We arrived five minutes late and sadly this is our last day in Vienna. The guide, a young guy with glasses, was very rude and even though we booked a place he asked us to leave the tour (It is important to say that the tour has not yet begun). We tried to talk to him, he didn't even bother to come and talk to us. Very disappointed, we waited for that tour and we finishing with a bitter taste.

Michael Rosar was a wonderful tour guide. He was thought provoking, engaging and funny. He wove stories together about Vienna that helped us understand its past and present. Very enjoyable! It began raining later in our tour and the wind was blowing but he was considerate of his group in the adverse conditions. I can't imagine that is an easy job at that point. We held in there but ducked out towards the end since we had been on an overnight train and just had to go get warm and fed. I would highly recommend this free (awesome) tour. Don't forget to tip your guide!

Eddie was delightful. The tour helped us to not only understand the history of Vienna, but placed into perspective the layout of places to visit. We had so many “ah ha” moments and look forward to returning soon! Eddie definitely loves his county and sold us on potentially studying abroad or even relocating in the future. Obrigado Senhor Eddie.

Fantastic tour in Vienna from Michael! 2,5 hour flew by in a moment. Lots of interesting information, cool jokes and great mood! A perfect start to explore the city. Also you get a great deal of recommendations for places to eat and see. More than happy to visit this tour. Highly recommended!

Was very easy to find our meet up location thanks to detailed instructions. Our tour guide Micheal (Jackson lol) was very knowledgeable and funny, made our walk around Vienna a very informative/educational and a great experience. We will definitely follow his culinary suggestions while in this beautiful city. Highly recommend this tour for time well spent. Thanks for a great tour! The highlights tour of Schonbrunn Palace guided by Dieter was brilliant. Dieter is a fabulous story teller and incredibly knowledgeable plus has a sense of humour. The palace and grounds are spectacular, a must do on any trip to Vienna and I’d do it again when I return one day.

We had a brilliant morning getting to know all about Vienna with Michael. He went above and beyond telling us stories and sharing the history of the city: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Our tour guide Wolfgang was exceptional. He gave a good balance of the city’s history, local life, politics and current climate. Being a local Viennese and an older gentleman, he had extra insights into the locations we visited. The walking pace was great for us, with sufficient pauses and toilet breaks. If you get Wolfang as your guide, then you’re very lucky :)

Really enjoyed Wolfgang's tour this morning - it really shows that experience in the industry is priceless. He made history interesting, leaving you to want more from the next stop. The most organised walking tour I have been on (been to a few in Europe) & so impressed with his app & witty stories. Definitely recommend this tour

We just finished our tour through Europe. Paris, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Vienna (and many places in between). We had tours in every location. This tour started off a little concerning because of the amount of people, but it was by far the best one we’ve had on our entire trip. They managed the volume of people very well. Informative, very funny, and engaging. Tour guide was Michael. They rely on tips, which ends up with people giving what they think it was worth. We ended up tipping well because we loved it. When you book this tour, make sure to bring some sunscreen, cash for a tip, and something to write down some of the tips they give within the firehouse of information they provide. It’s only 2 hours and you’re going to love it. We just wish it was a little longer, and that it was available in all the rest of the places we went to. :)

  • 1/5 Liz S. 6 years ago on Google
They were not clear on where the tour started just "in front of the Albertina" not up the stairs. We got there 5 minutes late because we were searching for them for 20 minutes and the tour guide wouldn't accept our reservations. Not just that but he was extremely rude. I've been on 10+ European free walking tours and have never had this experience. Would not recommend.

  • 3/5 Harvey A. 5 years ago on Google
We had no problems finding the start of our tour like other reviews suggested, it was just in front of the Albertina. However, the group was much to large to be with one guide, there should have been more guides available as it was peak season. Our guide was ok, though spent a long time talking about the wall around Vienna and seemed to miss out a lot of its modern history, focusing mainly on the Hapsburgs and then straight to modern day Vienna/Austria, although he was very knowledgeable about these topics. From what he implied too the tour company seemed to take a lot of the guides tips (Around half) which seemed a lot compared to what has been implied by similar companies/guides we have used in other European cities. Overall I would say that a walking tour is worth doing in Vienna, but it may be worth exploring whether other better operators are available.

We've loved the tour! It was the best and most fun history lesson we've ever got. The guide was very knowledgeable and knew how to make things interesting and fun. 2 hours passed like 2 minutes, when it ended, we wished it would have lasted longer. You see the historical center, you find out tips and tricks about what to see in Vienna and you learn the best parts about Austrian history and culture.

This tour was excellent. The guide Michael was really very nice and told us a lot of interesting things to know about Vienna and it's rich history. We especially appreciated his info about good restaurants and coffee houses to avoid the tourist traps or the "too expensive" but well known houses.

Lisa our guide was phenomenal. We did the smaller group tour and it was worth it. She was a wealth of information and also had tons of recommendations for places to see, eat, and explore in Vienna. Worth every penny!!

Meeting point is at Albertinaplatz street level in front of the statue. The first half part of my Thursday 2pm free tour was very informative and went till close to 4pm before a break. My guide briefly explained Austrian history over several plazas. I had to leave after break so didn’t get to learn about cafe culture. Unfortunately this group had about 30 attendees so, by the streets, I couldn’t hear the guide clearly every time she turned around to face the other side of the group, which was a pity because much of the information she gave was interesting anecdotes which you wouldn’t know if you just visit on your own. I’d recommend this tour but be prepared to spend 3 hours and stay close to the guide.

We had our tour with Sylvia and I must say I'm really dissapointed. Comparing to the other cities where I've been it was not so good. The tour took 1 hour 40 minutes and it was old-style sightseeing... boring. Usually there is a young guide with some fun & interesting facts. This time it was only history of the city therefore it's got really boring after a while. The guide even didn't know where I can exchange the money and I had to pay in my local currency which was inconvenient for me and the guide.

This was our 4th free walking tour so far on our European trip and sadly our least enjoyable simply due the very large amount of people on the tour. There was at least 70 people so we were delayed several times so everyone can take photo or catch up. Our group was so large that when we stopped to hear the story about empress sisi there was overspill of people onto the small road some of our group almost got run over by a horse and carriage! Another time our group was stopped on a small street and a local lady showed her displeasure to us in German as the group was blocking access to her front door! Our guide Wolfgang was very knowledgeable and an entertaining guide. This tour could have been so much better and safer had the group had a limit in numbers.

(Translated by Google) I did the tour with Ana Maria and I loved it !. The weather does not accompany the whole, but the kindness and all the information shared by the guide with us made the situation pleasant. The tour should be reserved because if not the number of people makes it impossible to communicate. We touched on the main points of the city and apart from that we also answered general questions, directions to take the bus, recommendations as to what to visit when you have little time ... the guide was in all! Vienna is a beautiful city and with the tour one can be better placed in time and know a little more about the history of each building. They even recommended a place to eat the largest Wienerschnitzel in Vienna !. I recommend it, to book with time because there are many people who want to do the tour!

We had really good experience with Free walking tours in Chile and Brazil and we decided to get a Free Walking tour in our first morning in Vienna, since we thought suppose to be a great overview from the main attractions in the city and then to discovery the rest on our own. We didn’t regret to take this option and we were luck because we got a really friendly and knowledgeable guide that knew all about the history of Vienna and explained in details each attractions, always answering any question and giving us tips to go back with more time later on. We just thought that, since Vienna is a busy touristic city and especially during Spring the streets can be really busy, we had a kind of big group and sometimes we couldn’t hear the information he was trying to pass to us. But we got really good tips that we noted and visited later on, including a tip about the Opera State of Vienna that was really valuable where we wrote about it in our Trip Advisor review to the Opera house. Eli: 4+ / Serge: 5 Recommended: Yes, it’s a great start to have a good overview from all Vienna main attractions.

We went on two tours; the first one was the free city tour with Wolfgang (not mozart), he was extremely knowledge and enthusiastic as a guide however the tour itself was not adapted to the weather conditions. It was freezing and we were wrapped up however we spent long periods of time stationary and could have kept moving around. It also went for longer than the advertised time. The second tour was the Hitler tour with Christiane. She was too very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. we enjoyed this tour more as we walked more and was not stationary for long periods of time. She also took us inside a musuem so that we were warm whilst she described an ascept of the tour. She also didn't push for a tip like some tour guides do in other countries. The website could be clearer with start and end points. These both started on the road side of the albertina- look out for their green umbrella and both finished at the old church / synygog by the canal / morizplatz.
