Very classic Viennese cafe. Since 1867, the cafe maintain one of my favorite tradition, newspaper and magazine shelf with also English newspaper. Lovely breakfast and the roll is very fresh. I enjoy the Sunday breakfast here before church gathering.

Amazing experience. One of the best coffee places in all of the Vienna. Old, has a soul, great coffee, great service, and a lot of history. Even memorized on of of the Eisner’s art masterpieces.

Everything about this breakfast was perfect. The waiter was sweet, the place wasn't packed at all, it was super affordable and the place is so beautiful, feels like having breakfast in a palace. This place is what cafe Central wishes it was. Loved the food. Will definitely come again.

I tried the best apple strudel in Vienna. The staff was very friendly and nice. But I want to express my special thanks to Constantin, who was the source of positive energy 💛 He organized the celebration of my friend’s birthday and gave us a birthday cake as a treat ✨

A nice Viennese cafe serving coffee, cakes, all day breakfast and local dishes. Looks a bit traditional and classic, but that is exactly what we wanted to try as tourists. We saw many locals sitting inside, so we thought this place must be a right place to try something Viennese. The cakes were tasty, and the service was impeccable. The waiter who served us was experienced, faultless and attentive. We also saw some people having late lunch, and their dishes look great. The only minor issue I found was the waiter said they only accept cash, which is not so common for tourists coming from a Nordic country. Also, it is unnecessary to tell customers that the bill doesn’t include service charges. Because I recognise their high level of service, and would be happy to leave tips, and I certainly did. I’d love to go back there again to try some local dishes.

came here for apfel strudel. also had melange and hot chocolate. all were delicious. i have only had 2 apfel strudels in vienna but this was the best so far. not too sweet, but the apple was baked and mushed (no apple slices). server was attentive and helpful. gorgeous interior as well and great location to go shopping after.

Good place to go to have a coffee and something sweet or any other of their savory dishes. They also serve beer.

I don’t give 5 stars. Café Ritter is a classic Viennese coffee house and they don’t make them like this any more. Located in the middle of one of the most famous shopping streets in Vienna, this place has it all: the perfect Melange, amazing Palatschinken and a snooty waiter to boot. Order everything on the menu. Enjoy your visit and stay as long as you want, real old school. I love it!

We found Cafe Ritter after searching the map for Kaiserschmarrn. It was a short walk from our dinner location and in the middle of a premium shopping area. The desserts are large portions and quite tasty. I had an apple strudel, although I was disappointed that it was served cold. Our waiter was swift and friendly, speaking German and English for our mixed-language group. We were a little i pleasantly surprised to discover at the conclusion that the cafe only accepts cash Euros (no credit/bank cards). While the rest of my party waited at the table, I had to walk about 250 meters down to the Bank of Austria to pull out cash so that we could pay the bill. In such a premium shopping area in a world class city with high tourism, the cafe needs to accept bank cards. Our ticket was over 20 EUR, which is a sufficient amount to accept cards. There are certainly prettier cafes in Vienna, but this one was a convenient location this evening. I'm not sure I would return specifically unless I just happened to be in the area again.

Great, traditional Vienna cafe. Wonderful apfel strudel. Sacher - in my opinion - better than in Sacher Hotel! Very friendly staff! :)

Coffee was good as cake but service is like mechanic with no friendly feeling. So sorry for this. I loved the atmosphere and place as well. Hope they will change attitude. Visit but do not expect too much.

Beautiful 🤩, best thing to do after a stroll in Mariahilferstrasse, Vienna’s most beautiful shopping street. Had a nice Viennese Schnitzel (21€), bit pricy though. Very friendly staff. Relaxing atmosphere. And nobody is nagging you to leave if you take your time and stay longer. Also great for breakfast. Would definitely come back

If you searching for the real Vienna atmosphere - come here!!! So elegant, smells old romantic, feeling as you in 1981. Perfect for any meetings or coming alone with newspaper or book. One of my favourite place in Vienna 💕 Big thanks for this attitude to your guests, each one feel as special visitor. 5*

We had coffee (Verlängerter & Melange) and Palatschinken. While the coffee was quite good, the Palatschinken (esp. chocolate) tasted way too industrial and even supermarket bought. The service is slow and it’s a shame they only take cash.

Over the Christmas period, we tried a variety of hot chocolates throughout Vienna, but one particular place stood out. Their hot chocolate was special. We thoroughly enjoyed their delicious cakes and the exquisite apple strudel.

I loved this Cafe. We were in Vienna for 3 days, we ate dinner here twice and had the Goulash soup, let me tell you it was the best soup I have ever had, and I eat a lot of soup. I would love the recipe. ❤️ Our waiter Constantine went above and beyond giving us lots of recommendations and made us feel very welcome.

Very nice place and extremely polite waiters, the space looks like an old Viennese cafes. One very negative point was the Sacher cake, probably the worst I tried ever. Hard and dry, almost no jam in the middle infact if broke in half when I laid it ok the plate. Avoid the Sacher here! Also no card accepted! Other negative point

Looks fancy and isn’t even that expensive. Nice place to savour a Sacher cake (don’t forget to eat it with whipped cream and coffee).

Atmosphere is unbeaten, service is nice and smooth. I lost my soul in Vienna and I completely lost my way in the coffee with unsweetened whipping cream, a typical coffee at Wien. I was here alone, but I did not feel lonely. Family, friends, and group gatherings brought me warm conversations on cold days. What a beautiful day to be spent in this historic place.

Definitely the real deal as far as a viennese coffee house goes. Cream on every beverage and cakes (though not as wide variety as I was expecting). The Sacher Torte was as dry as expected the Mohntorte was better. Coffee was good. Wait staff were ok but we are used to Italian standards. The best thing was the old world atmosphere and the vintage decor. That was delightful.

Service is not as good as expected. If you got a table in the back of the restaurant, the waitresses won’t come often or notice you. Apple strudel is just ok. Vanilla ice cream and the cream makes it much better.

A cute and cozy old-school spot nestled at a convenient location near the shopping district. They offer the classic coffee of Vienna called melange. I also tried the classic Viennese sausage with bread and goulash and it was good and hearty.

Café Ritter is perfect to meet up with someone in a typical Viennese coffeehouse interior. Good for a stopover when shopping in the Mariahilferstrasse neighborhood. Though the service isn’t overly-friendly, the beautiful traditional coffeehouse interior makes up for it.

(Translated by Google) The number one café in Vienna if you want to avoid the tourist-crowded cafés in the first district. A rustic atmosphere, originally bad-tempered waiters and strong coffee - that's what defines a Viennese coffee house. The managing director Mr. Holzer does an excellent job to preserve this jewel from a bygone era. Every time it is a pleasure to stay there, be it for a quick espresso, an extensive breakfast or a few splashes on a mild summer evening. Hopefully this tradition will go on forever.

(Translated by Google) In the cafe to Corona. (Why not 5 stars.>> See below) One point that really made me happy was the socket with two USB charging ports. Price / performance ratio compared to other Wienercafé houses, such as Café Central, is excellent. Next to the ice cream shop Bortoloti one of the few cafés where you can still watch the goings-on of the people on the Mahü. I ate soup, sausages and a very good pastry. Also had a coffee which met my high expectations for a café house. Why not 5 stars? Well, the service is not bad in itself and the first time I ordered quickly after sitting down, it took me a little too long afterwards until it was noticed that I wanted to order something. Possibility of improvement, (so that I am not one of the many people who just says it could be better.) Just look a little more often for eye contact with guests who are not exactly fans of the card. Otherwise a very pleasant atmosphere.

Classic coffee-house in the center of Vienna's shopping district. In walking distance to Westbahnhof and MQ and directly in front of legendary bus line 13A. Great selection of newspapers and journals. Clearly above average cakes. I hope it will survive. Why? It lacks spaciousness and a few touches of innovation.

Traditional and elegant feel and particularly good coffee and strudel. First time we tried this place we got a particularly rude welcome where they wouldn’t even seat us in a half empty cafe and one guy even snatched the menu from us when we tried to have a look! Two years later exactly the same staff (which is a good sign) but friendly and efficient in what is often a very busy cafe. Friends have told us that you sometimes get waiters having a bad day but dont let it put you off, this is authentic Viennese cafe food at its finest. Will definitely take our chances for another visit to try more of the menu!
