Not a very lively place… :) Jokes aside, it’s hard to review a cemetery. But it certainly is an experience to wander through the 300,000+ graves, including those of high profile artists and musicians.

(Translated by Google) A really beautiful and quiet cemetery. If you enter via gate two, after a few hundred meters you will see the Mozart monument on the left, where Beethoven, Brahms and Schubert also have monuments and graves. If you walk past the graves and at some point turn left at the large chapel, you come to the graves in the 40s sector, there is the grave of Falco. There is also a bus route through the cemetery. If you guys helped or liked the review, I would be happy if you liked it :) (Original) Ein wirklich wunderschöner und ruhiger Friedhof.

Great thing to do in Vienna on a Sunday when not much else is open. The cemetery is huge and provides a beautiful stroll away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Go to Gate 2 and the graves of Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert will be on the left hand side straight in in group 32A. Many of the tombstones are works of art.

The Central Cemetery (Wiener Zentralfriedhof) is a beautiful place to walk around in. You can look at the different grave sites, including those of famous composers, and other historical figures. You may even spot some of the little animals in the cemetery. If you do not speak German and you're looking for something specific, e.g., Beethoven's grave, it would be best to look it up ahead of time as it may be difficult to find your way around once there (without speaking German).

Vienna’s Central Cemetery is truly a remarkable place that seamlessly blends culture, history, and nature. As I walked through its expansive grounds, I was struck by the serene beauty of the landscape, where lush greenery and towering trees create a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city. One of the highlights of my visit was exploring the final resting places of the many famous individuals who found their eternal home here. The cemetery is a veritable who’s who of Austrian and international history, with luminaries like Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, and Franz Schubert among its distinguished residents. Paying my respects to these musical giants in such a tranquil setting was a truly moving experience. What surprised me most was the unexpected encounter with nature within the cemetery’s boundaries. While wandering through the well-maintained pathways, I had the pleasure of spotting a graceful gazelle gracefully bounding through the greenery. This unique blend of urban and natural elements added an extra layer of enchantment to my visit. Vienna’s Central Cemetery is not just a burial ground; it’s a living testament to the city’s rich cultural heritage and a place where history, art, and nature converge. Whether you’re a music enthusiast paying homage to great composers or simply seeking a serene escape, this cemetery offers a memorable and uplifting experience that’s unlike any other.

In many cultures it's a weird concept to visit cemeteries for fun. Not in Austria. I have to admit, for me this is one of the most peaceful places in Vienna.

Amazingly beautiful cemetery where all the greats are buried. Beethoven is probably the most impressive. Also, Schoenberg, Schubert, and a memorial to Mozart. The cemetery is huge, but most of the composers are concentrated in one area. Ironically spent the day walking through the beautiful place listening to some old Bob Dylan. Will have to return one day, as the memories there are so great.

Absolutely beautiful, stunning place...3 million people buried there apparently, its vast ,no way can see it all...found the graves we were interested in like beethoven and Mozart and Falco...absolutely fascinating place, could have stayed longer but feet hurt...beautifully maintained, would love to return to see more.

Definitely worth a visit. Well preserved and maintained cemetery where, among others, famous musicians like Mozart and Beethoven are buried. We went there in late fall and it looked great on the sunny day. Easy to get to from Vienna with local public transportation. Take U Bahn to anywhere where you can catch #11 or 71 tram. Get off at the 2nd cemetery stop which is the main entrance. For the musician’s burial area, go into the 2nd entrance and then keep going straight. You will see a sign saying MUSIKER on the left,

Europe biggest graveyard, somehow fascinating, even beautiful and strange altogether. Visit the graves of famous people, musicians and politicians. Some places however remind me about Michael Jackson’s music video thriller. It’s so huge you might use a bicycle or car to move around.

ARRIVING in Vienna on a Sunday = not much open, nothing much to do. THANK GOODNESS! A quick, inexpensive tram ride took us to Central Cemetery on this gorgeous sunny Sunday, walking through the park like atmosphere we saw the graves of Beethoven, Schubert, Brahams, Strauss and more. Many of these tombs are spectacular works of art. Secret! One can take a carriage ride through the cemetery. Bonus! The cafe was open, we had a lovely dessert and a couple of glasses of wine.

Loved walking around the cemetery where it is quiet and serene. If you like classical music you can find cemeteries of the famous composers (Beethoven, Schubert, Strauss and Brahms) from the classical era. They also have cemeteries of famous artists and architects.

(Translated by Google) The Vienna Central Cemetery was founded in 1874. Around 3 million deceased are buried in 330,000 graves on an area of almost 2.5 square kilometers. The central cemetery is known above all for the many personalities who have found their last resting place here. For example, Falco, Mozart, Beethoven, Strauss, Schubert and Curd Jürgens are buried here. The cemetery is a place of peace and quiet, it invites you to take a walk, here you can discover many interesting and unusual grave sites. There is a cemetery map at the entrance that lists the burial sites of well-known figures. A visit to the Central Cemetery is a must for every visitor to Vienna.

Beautiful place for a photography walk: you will see deer, squirrels, woodpeckers and maybe hamsters. It’s claimed to be the biggest cementery in Europe, also it has the honor-grave of musician „Falco“ as a big attraction.

If you like visiting cemeteries, this is the place for you. There are the famous tombs of course but all the others too! You can see very peculiar things even for "normal" tombs. The nature is also lovely with squirrels running around. It's huge so you might not be able to see all. Use Google maps to find the interesting parts, I agree that a map for 2 euros is not great.

The only cemetery that lives. Very well-kept. Spending a day there is not much where we get lost in many types and forms of commemorating people - from simple obelisks to sophisticated modern sculptures. In particular, full of tolerance and that everyone is equal there. You don't have to look for evidence of that too long. The part devoted and the rest of the Soviet soldiers Is an excellent example of tolerance and equality. The best description of this place will be words of British Prime Minister William Evart Gladstone "Show me how a nation or community cares for its dead, and I will measure with mathematical exactness the tender sympathies of its people, their respect for the laws of the land, and their loyalty to high ideals."

(Translated by Google) For those who are looking for Beethoven and other great musicians to honor their memory, then from the central entrance in a straight line, their monuments will be on the left side without reaching the large church. Why 4 stars, because for one of the famous cemeteries in Europe, it is not very well maintained. Garbage problems and toilets too. (Original) Тем кто ищет Бетховена и остальных великих музыкантов, чтоб почтить память, то от центрального входа по прямой их памятники будут по левую сторону не доходя большой церкви. (Translated by Google) A very beautiful, but also very large cemetery. I found the old Jewish part to be the most beautiful, with some of the graves already dilapidated and overgrown by trees and bushes. We booked a carriage ride at the cemetery directly at gate 2 and drove with the coachman, Christian. The Fiaker was very knowledgeable and well read and answered each of our questions in detail. I can only recommend. Take underground no. 3 in the direction of Simmering and get off at Enkplatz, then change to the tram and drive towards the central cemetery and get off at gate 2. Take enough time with you, it's really worth it.

This is a place where you can get lost, both literally and figuratively speaking. The Central Cemetery of Vienna is huge. At 2.5 sq. km., it is one of the largest cemeteries in Europe. Also, the names on the tombstones can make you dizzy, whatever sector you are interested in. There are signs scattered around the cemetery showing the location of the most prominent names to be found. You could probably spend a whole day wandering aimlessly among the graves in this very serene environment.

I think it's just beautiful and, above all, there are virtually all faiths. (Christian, Muslim, Jewish etc .......) Many people have worries in life or they are dissatisfied with their life. When you especially see the baby cemetery, the young people who died for whatever reason ...... tears come to you ...... WORTH SEEING AT ANY TIME !!!! VIENNA CALLING !!!!! Zentralfriedhof (Central Cemetery) in Vienna exists as a draw chiefly for that plot of the earth that holds the remains of Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Johann Strauss II and Salieri along with a cenotaph to his upstart rival Mozart. Many many more notable Austrians are buried here (we noted Boltzmann of Boltzmann's constant fame) along countless other men and women in what is a huge cemetery by any standards. Indeed, beyond the idea that music lies buried here is a much more simple one: there is much peace, solitude and musing in a cemetery such as this one without being too foreboding and ominous. That is why one should head to Zentralfriedhof. Do give this place 1-2 hours on a quiet morning.
