Brew & Brownie has some of the best breakfast food that I have ever had. The mince pie waffle was Amazballs. It got a little busy as we finished, and they began packing people in a little too tight for a country with no handle on the pandemic. However, this place may actually be worth risking your life.

Cozy, comfy cafe with delicious food. It gets busy and they don't take reservations. We made sure to get there before they opened and were able to get seated. Ordered the smoked salmon with poached eggs, porridge (vegan!!) And the French toast with rhubarb crumble and mascarpone. Salted caramel brownie, vegan banana biscoff cake and rocky road treats to finish off. Everything was absolutely delicious!!

Wow. Before I start. I was skeptical, we had to wait 20 mins to get in (covid and all that) I wasn’t particularly happy with this but……… how wrong I was. I’d happily wait a lot longer. The staff wonderful and polite. Everything from start to finish was amazing. Simply the best food we have had in a long time, service was fast , food hot and extremely tasty. Coffee was good and well the brownies are to die for. I’m going back up to York in a few weeks and I’ll be back here. It was the best small cafe/bistro/eatery I’ve been in. Don’t hesitate just go. It’s great. Worth every single penny. My photos all contain my family so won’t be posting those. Just trust me. You’ll have an amazing time here.

Lovely stop a couple of days ago for a hot chocolate and cake. Had the biscoff hot chocolate and my partner had the Terry's hot chocolate with a brownie. Good selection of cakes and breakfast and brunch foods, although we didn't have anything savoury it looked great what we could see. There seems to be a que always to get in and space is limited inside, so can be a little tight around the tables. Staff very nice and good service.

Amazing! We were lucky enough to arrive just before opening on a Sunday so didn’t have to queue. Oat milk flat white was so good I had two! Breakfast was delicious, service was attentive and friendly. Obviously took some sweet treats as a takeaway. It’s a little on the pricey side but the quality of the offering is well worth the additional spend. Can’t wait to visit again, very highly recommended!

Delicious delicious and delicious food! Would definitely visit York again only to have breakfast here!😄 We ordered the bacon sandwich, pancake with maple bacon and Egg Benedict. Absolutely loved the Pancake with Maple bacon😍😍😍, you must must order this if you love pancakes. The hot chocolate was just the right amount of sweet and warm with whipped cream🥰. There's a lot of baked stuff which we didn't try but looked ravishing! Mind you guys we waited almost 40 minutes to get a seat and honestly worth the wait!

This was one on my “Must visit” places to experience whilst in York. On my last visit (about a year ago), I missed the chance as I was only on a day visit and the queues were halfway down the street that day. Well worth the visit this time. Myself and a friend decided to head into York for a lovely breakfast. Although they were still busy, there was a small table available. It’s quite a small interior and I guess some would refer to as “cosy”. There was not a great deal of room between each table so for a large guy like me, it did feel a little cramped, however, I’m not marking the score down for that. We ordered the Big brew breakfast. Delicious, well cooked and flavoursome. Totally set us up for the day ahead. Washed down with a Flat white coffee Would I recommend this place for breakfast? Yes, Yes & Yes 👌🏻

Absolutely beautiful little breakfast spot, everything is locally sourced and freshly made. Puts an authentic twist on the classic 'English Fry Up' with items like baked bean being freshly made and not just plucked from a tin. Amazing quality at fair price.

We came in for breakfast on a weekend 7 minutes after it opened and there was already absolutely no seating space — so highly recommend coming early. The food is quite lovely and their selection is baked good looks very tempting — however we didn’t try any. We ordered orange juices, iced lattes, the seasonal pancakes and the corn fritters for two of us. The pancakes were absolutely delicious, the mascarpone is a game changer, however it would have been nice to have more compote or honey or some sort of liquid because without it they felt a bit dry. The corn fritters were quite interesting and tasty too! Overall, a good place for breakfast!

We were lucky enough to not have to queue first thing on a Sunday morning. We ordered the ham hock special and the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and both were honestly delicious! Filled with the flavour and good portion sizes. The fresh orange was delicious also! Would definitely recommend.

Great cafe for breakfast, but I really suggest turning up early and waiting for it to open as it fills up fast. There was six of us and luckily we managed to get in. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts. I had the smashed avocado on toast with bacon, and it was delicious. We will definitely be returning, hoping to get a seat. It's a shame the premises is so small.

Love it! I’m so glad we found this place on our last day in York. The menu is very diverse so if you’re veggie you will definitely find something to eat. Food itself is great and I mean all of it. Perfectly poached eggs, amazing house made beans and bread to die for. Staff is nice and place has very cute vibes ♥️

As with a lot of the well known establishments there was a queue to get inside but wasn’t waiting outside for long. The guy who sat us down was super friendly and welcoming. Food and drink was reasonably price and even though not much choice still something for everyone. I ended up getting avocado toast with poached egg and halloumi. Definitely a good choice. Unfortunately the egg was a little hard in the middle and not as running as I would have liked but still delicious. The vanilla coffee was good too 👌🏼

Perfect place for a date brunch or for grabbing the most amazing cakes ever! There is always a queue but it's worth the wait, and I'm not surprised since the food is so wholesome and rich. I had the avocado toast with two scrambled eggs.

What an amazing café. Both the sweet and savory options are amazing. We actually ended up going twice while in York as it was that enjoyable. The staff were so friendly and when we left there was a queue down the street! The full breakfast was of great quality and the sweetcorn fritters were also fantastic. Then we move onto the sweet stuff. The banana and biscoff loaf was to die for. We also had a blueberry, pecan and white chocolate brownie, if either of these are available when you go then get them!

Great place for breakfast! I had the yoghurt, honey, compote and peacan pancakes and they were amazing. So fluffy, definitely could have just had the half a stack because I couldn’t finish the full one. Lovely place sit in, cosy and good atmosphere. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Had to go the next day to try the brownies they had on display, and I am very glad we did!

100% true to the hype! I recommend arriving at Brew & Browning 10-15 min. before they open to stand in line and peruse the menu. B&B was easily one of the best breakfasts we had during our UK holiday – the staff was lovely, the coffee was superb and the food was memorable. Highly recommend the pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs – some of the best I’ve ever had!

This was a nice experience. We had breakfast on a Sunday morning and it was so busy that we queued for 30 minutes before we could get a table. We order the pancakes with a side of hash browns, which were fluffy and yummy, and the cheese and ham sandwich. The bread was absolutely delicious and the proportions of ingredients was excellent. The fries were crispy and flavourful and complimented the meal perfectly. My partner had an Earl grey tea that was lovey, and I had an Americano that I could not drink. They serve an organic type of coffee and I didn’t like it at all. I’d recommend that they served the regular coffee as an option for those clients that are not very familiar with the taste of the organic coffee. I would recommend them as the food was great and the staff was friendly!

Really enjoyed breakfast at this little cafe. All the food was really delicious. Pancakes seemed fresh, not reheated. Arrived a bit before opening to avoid the line. The coffee was also excellent. So good we came back the next day!

Best pancakes! 4 of them and they were huge with generous toppings. My boyfriend had eggs Benedict with the biggest wedge of sourdough I've ever seen and it was also delicious. My americano was good and the fresh orange juice. We had to queue but it was worth it, and the people serving us were pleasant and friendly. The atmosphere was also happy and chilled. Highly recommended!

Wonderful breakfast very close to the Minster. We visited twice during our stay. Large portions, fresh squeezed orange juice.

I can’t describe how tasty my veggie breakfast was! All the elements were uniquely flavoured and high quality. The staff are lovely and friendly and warm. We waited for a bit however it was around 25 minutes but honestly chuffed that it was worth the wait. They even UNDERSTAND that extra hot coffee is necessary😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️ seriously great breakfast. Amazing baked goods variety too although I haven’t tried them.

Saw this cafe on Google. The reviews were great so thought we would give it a go. The fact we had to wait to be seated for a short time was a good sign. When we were seated we were asked what drink we wanted whilst we waited for our breakfast. When mine and my wifes breakfast came it looked well prepared and very tasty. I had the full English and my wife had Sweet corn fritters, which came with crushed avocado, grilled Halloumi, poached egg and salsa. The food was top quality and we will certainly be returning when we come back to York for a weekend stay. Top work team. Keep up the great work! 👍

Walked past the day before to see a long queue and therefore had to return! Superb food. I had the scrambled eggs on sourdough bread and ordered hash browns on the side. Fabulous orange juice. Even though it was full there was a clear communication from the staff regarding a waiting time of about 15 minutes. These minutes were very well worth the wait!! The blondie brownie was in our opinion too sweet so perhaps another dessert would have suited me better. Will be back!

This is my first visit York and I can tell this cafe is a must! The staff are very friendly. They serve good quality food. The wait was not long even they are very busy. I will definitely come back.

Best brunch spot in York. Just be ready for a queue if you her there mid afternoon. Loads of vegetation options, great coffee and intwresting dishes. The grilled cheese sandwich was outstanding.

We had the best breakfast ever! The place is really cute, very clean and also decorated with style! Staff is simply excellent! Everyone was lovely and smiling. Service amazing. We sat down, ordered in a few minutes time and get the food piping hot very quickly. The food is definitely the best part.. AMAZING. I had some avocado on toast and my husband an English breakfast. Big portion, great quality and they have an hot chocolate to die for! We'll definitely come back and visit again!

Considered by the numerous locals we met as the best coffee shop in York. It has a queue at opening and at various points during the day, and with good reason, the coffee and drinks are beautifully made and the food beautiful and delicious. Made on the accompanying bakery a door or two down, the pastries are second to none. Try the cruffin (a blend of croissant and muffin). The team there could not be more lovely, helpful and welcoming. It opens quite late at 9am and closes early at 4.30pm so make time in your schedule. Parking isn’t really a thing in anywhere nearby so walking is a must. But you’ll feel healthy for it and make space for more cake ;)

Has a great reputation and for good reason! We passed by around lunchtime on day 4 of our holiday and decided we had to try them for breakfast on the Friday. We arrived around 9.30 and got one of the last available tables. My partner got a half stack of pancakes and said they were great, and even at a half stack was a generous portion. I had scrambled eggs on sourdough with avocado and I'm not exaggerating when I say it's some of the best scrambled eggs I've tried. As we left there was a small queue outside however the service never felt rushed and staff were friendly and attentive. The cakes looked amazing too but after my eggs there was no way I could eat anymore 😅

Nice location, not too far from the York Minster. Staff was super welcoming. The place is quite small, so you'll probably have to queue a bit outside. Our breakfast was delicious. The full English is tasty. Don't forget the takeaway pastries / cakes, delightful.

Food was lovely and staff were very friendly! We got their special pulled pork Benedict and their fluffy American styled pancakes which was delicious. Definitely visit if you're in York. The coffee is decent too. They don't take bookings so be sure to get there early and expect to queue, we waited about 10mins early Friday morning but it was well worth it!
