Gundala Matha Shrine popularly known as St Mary’s Church, is located atop a hillock at Gunadala in Vijayawada. An iron cross stands as a rare distinction of this shrine. Many believers even non-Christians throng here during Sundays. A museum inside the church is another attraction, with collection of valuable gifts from devotees and holy relics of ancient period. The Gunadala Matha Shrine is also known as The Mary Matha Shrine or more popularly known as the St. Mary’s Church. It is the most popular pilgrimage for the Christians in Andhra Pradesh. This church located in the Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh is beautiful and perched on the top of a hill. There are lots of tourists visiting this place to seek the blessings of Mother Mary. There is also a huge statue of the Lord crucified on a cross. The unique feature of this church is the huge cross fixed on the peak of the hill to signify the situation of the church. Legend says that Mother Mary was seen here in the year 1858 by the then priest here. She was the one who founded this shrine and since then every year the Matha Festival is celebrated here with huge pomp along with the Mary Matha Fest that goes on for 10 days. At this time of the year the church is visited by lakhs of tourists.

Devotional place for all Christians. Previously there is no parking charge. But now they are collecting from church side. Entire year people keep coming and need some rest places while climbing the hill. Even no water facility to the people. Need more facilities to the visitors.

Excellent place, nicely constructed..even some construction undr progress. When it will finish it will be more beautiful. The church is spacious and there is another top of the hill. One of the prominent religious place of Vijayawada.

Gunadala Mata shrine is mostly known as St.Mary's gunadala matha. For climbing the hill, management have made stairs till top of the hill. Very happy to visit this church and watching Vijayawada overall view on the top of the hill. Hill trekking opening at 6:30 AM and closing by 6:30 PM. While climbing the hill besides we can see the god statues. Please carry the water bottle while walking due to there is no shops available above the hill. Offering of head hair, three scissors to the owner of the shrine.The fixed ticket cost is Rs.40/- only.

This place was nice(2015-2016) where I went every year from my childhood.. But recently i have visited this hill.. There are many drawbacks. Firstly we couldn't see any shops from starting to the top hill which is very uneasy for travellers / devotees. If u arrange ice creams , drinks it will be easy. But u will get mineral water at the top where there is cross with Jesus. But everyone should visit this place if u want to see miracles in your life . I love this place

This church is worth going there. Actually, we went late so, we didn't go upstairs. But, the church is so good. The atmosphere is very pleasant. If you want you can buy prayer oil there. Also shopping can be done. Limited shopping available such as bangles etc.
