Start at Pico do Arieiro, hike to Pico Ruivo and finish at Achada do Teixeira. Only possible as a guided tour, but this way you don't have to walk back all the stairs to Pico do Arieiro. Amazing views all the way, especially the first kilometers from Pico do Arierio. Even view to Ponta de Sao Lourenço. The best activity on Madeira island.

Beautiful views and one of the points on the island that everyone should visit, weather is very temperamental so when you there and its very cloudy just go to near cafe bar (we only had 2 lates and paid jus over €3 so prices are very good)get yourself a drink and snack and after 15-20min if you lucky enough like we ware you'll enjoy unforgettable views, enjoy and thank me later😉

The viewpoint at Pico do Areeiro on Madeira Island offers a truly breathtaking panorama that leaves you in awe. The vast expanse of rugged landscapes, rolling hills, and clouds hugging the peaks is simply sublime. However, while the view is undeniably spectacular, the parking situation is far from ideal. The available parking space is incredibly limited, often forcing visitors to bend parking rules in order to secure a spot. This detracts from the overall experience and can lead to unnecessary frustration. Moreover, given the sheer number of visitors drawn to this remarkable viewpoint, the absence of proper security measures is concerning. The site's immense popularity can transform what should be a serene and enjoyable visit into a potentially hazardous situation. With safety measures in place, the risk of accidents or overcrowding could be mitigated, allowing everyone to fully appreciate the natural beauty without undue worry. In conclusion, Pico do Areeiro's viewpoint offers a mesmerizing sight that's worth the trip, but the lack of sufficient parking and security measures dampens the experience. Enhancing these aspects would undoubtedly make this already remarkable spot even more enjoyable for all who seek to take in its breathtaking beauty.

What a beautiful place. The drive there was crazy! The temperature was very comfortable and it wasn’t busy at all. If you aren’t comfortable driving, take a cab or a bus. If you want to drive, stick to the main roads. The small village roads are steep and narrow.

Pictures don’t make it justice, it’s a stunning place we did the hike to Pico Ruivo and it was a bit hard (super hot day!) but definitely worth it. The landscape the whole way was breathtaking.

One of the best places to visit in Funchal, Madeira. This Miradouro has an absolutely stunning view. I am also including views of the surroundings so that you understand that it is worth to explore.

What a fabulous place to visit. We were lucky to have a glorious blue sky, with the clouds below us. The views were astonishing. The short walk from the observatory was amazing, yet the final viewpoint even more breathtaking. I cannot recommend this place enough if you get the chance. Buses don't come here, so you'll need a tour or taxi.

You can see one of the most beautiful sunrises on the island here. However, traveling in the dark is not easy and from Funchal it takes about 40 minutes. You can drive right up to the top. However, the parking lot is very crowded. It's a good idea to take good shoes and a flashlight with you

always amazing place, with views you'll remember (expect crowds though), even for the sunrise... 😁

From here you have a beautiful view over the wild mountains. It is quite a height, so sometimes you look at a wall of clouds, which is also very special.

Went on a sunrise 🌄 tour, the views are spectacular, watching the sun come up whilst looking down on the clouds!!

Yes, beautiful and stunning views (if you avoid a cloudy moment) and some decent walking - as part of a bigger Trail. However, for a brief visit, it's a miserable drive up a narrow road made more difficult by inconsiderate (illegal, unenforced) parking on roadside to avoid inadequate parking space at the point. We travelled by local, guided tour (minibus) and the driver (rightly) complained about the parking consequences that regularly cause oversized coaches to reach stalemate and one (?) has to reverse a very long distance to unblock the route. Early morning (pre 8am!) visit recommended / essential.

Very nice place with really beautiful views. Hiking is a bit tough, if you are not in good shape it could be quite big challenge. Also if you want park in the parking place you should be there extremely in the morning or late afternoon. You could eat and drink there something warm or buy some snacks.

A beautiful place, steep narrow roads to get up there, and almost vertical drop from the roadside!

On top of the island of Madeira doesn't get any better than this. 1810 meters (5938 ft) in altitude. There was a Bride getting her pre-wedding pictures done. You can see her in one of the pictures I posted standing on an outlook. You can see the ocean on both sides and there is a Portuguese Air Force radar station at the top. The road is narrow and steep. Lots of fun getting there in a big tour bus.

Wonderful view, when it's sunny. It's a bit windy though and it can get chilly, so get dressed accordingly. But the view, on both sides of the peak of breathtaking!
