Very beautiful place, only go if you know how to do hills because look haha. I didn't like their soda, fermented and with ginger, really only for those who like both. There are meditation classes and a super peaceful guided tour. The climb is a little tiring, but the view is worth it.

This is definitely one of the top tourist attractions in the area, well worth a visit for your cultural and religious awareness. The only day they accept visits is Sunday mornings and you had better arrive before 8:00 when they open the gate because only the first 200 people are allowed to enter. You can stay there until 12:00, the entrance fee is 15 Reais per person which includes a nice informative guided tour of about 40 minutes. After the tour you are free to walk around the entire complex which is truly amazing in all aspects, take some time to reflect, contemplate and recharge your mind and soul. Wonderful experience well worth a visit, and for those who want to truly understand the Zen Buddhism, they offer retreats of 2-4 days. You find a lot of information about all upcoming activities on their homepage.

How difficult is it to leave it open even on retreat days?

I'm from SP, I went to ES Vitória, rented a 1.0 car and went there, 1 hour trip. The road is a carpet, arriving at the giant Buddha I headed towards the monastery, the road is all paved, at the entrance there is no difficult climb, but once you enter it is very steep, nothing that the popular car I rented couldn't handle! Just drive there, I think! Everyone was friendly from the entrance to the monastery itself (I'm friendly too, so it all worked out). I paid the entrance fee in pix but they said that sometimes there is no good signal, so it's better to take a ticket. I loved the temple, there were lots of marmosets in the trees! I went to budão, it was cloudy but very warm, everything was ok, there is a restaurant there, very beautiful! His lotus flower petal is bigger than me! I went back to Vitória and enjoyed the beach!

I thought it was beautiful. I only regret not being able to visit the monastery because it was closed to visitors. It was left for the next opportunity.

👍👍 This was an amazing experience! We eat some great food, got to meet the owner and a monk before we walked up to the big Buddha. It was so majestic and beautiful. The surrounding areas were beautiful and full of flowers 🌸🌺 As an exchange student in Vitoria, this was a great place to visit!
