A lovely oasis from the dust and desert. Many plants and flowers, a cactus garden, many tropical birds, a few tortoises, peacocks/hens, monkeys, donkeys, goats and guinea pigs. Many places to sit and relax throughout the park. Was sad to see the tortoises wearing a hole round the edge of their pens trying to get out but that was little to do with their facilities which were full or care and love. €5 entry, paid at the lovely cafe with a ticket to allow you to exit.

A must see whilst on Sal and definitely support this worthy cause. Whilst yes, animals are alone and in cages BUT they are well cared for.and a far cry from their existence before life at Pachamama. Truly is an oasis for these animals and the amazing botanical work gone into this project. Great work and thank you.

Great place that cares for sick and injured birds and animals. Lots of variety including; yellow monkeys, tortoise, sheep, various parrots, goats, rabbits, peacocks, ducks, loads of birds etc. Etc. All surrounded by beautiful flowers, trees and cactus. Nice lawn with chairs to relax in with a small cafe for refreshments. Worth a visit for a couple of hours.

It's a small but fun botanic garden, easy to get in and the access fee is 5,-. The animals sometimes seem a bit alone, but there must be a reason for it I guess. The parrot at the beginning loves to be pet (if it likes you)

Beautiful little botanic garden with many animals, mainly birds but also some turtles, bunnies, goats, donkeys... we went with our 3 year old daughter and she was enjoying it a lot. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

This was the last stopping point on our Postcards of Sal tour and it was our favourite part of the tour. The gardens are small and the animals are limited but it was so lovely and peaceful. After a day of travelling on a minibus, it was a fantastic end to the day. We could have stayed longer but the tour was at an end. I particularly enjoyed the different species of plant and trees.

I was so sad after we was there, thinking of the poor animals. I will never forget the poor donkey whith his legs full of bloody wounds, surrounded by a million flies eating on it!!! You could see he was desperate, running and shaking inside the small enclosure. He did'nt even had water there😢💔 I neither will ever forget the poor, lonely monkey sitting there in a small cage, with a little doll in his hand as his only asset. No place to climb, no place to run, no place to sleep. Even nothing to drink or eat😢💔 The skinny horses in the end of the park was lined up in the heat, with theire heads locked up in a very short chain, unable to move! I have never seen anything like this and I hope I never will again. However, the cactuses and plantes seemed to be well taken care of... I don't recommand anybody to go there to support this horrible place!!!

Beautiful botanic gardens, with some nice rescued animals. Nice little outside bar to chill. They have baobab juice! 🙏🏽🙌🏽💕

You definitely would not expect such a green place on Sal island. Entrance costs 5 euros and without a doubt, it's so worth it. We were here on a working day morning and i swear, we were the only ones here. You will see a lot of exotic flora and some animals, such as parrots, donkeys, turtle and many more! Don't miss out this place.

This park is not far away from Santa Maria, you can walk there or take a taxi for 5-6 € (you need to tell the driver that you want to take back after the visit or you need to "hitchhike" a taxi on the highway in front of the park). The entrance is 5 €/adult. They have a small bar there where you can buy water and other drinks. There are some animals (parrots, turtles, goats, horses, donkeys and monkeys) and cactuses and some succulents,... It took us about 1 hour to see it all. It was quite a nice activity to do on Sal island if you are tired or don't want to do any water sport at the moment. :)

Lots of birds, animals and interesting plants. Beautiful parks to visit and great for all the family. The animals vary with a lot of parrots including blue and scarlet macaws and grey parrots. The peacocks and hens free roam and had chicks. There are goats and donkeys, the goats were happy to be petted, but there is no feeding the animals. There were also some monkeys. There's a big tortoise who had a big roaming area. Interesting plants are labelled and there is a cactus garden, all well maintained. Animals seem well cared for. Was quiet and a lovely space to visit with a nice cafe. Highly recommend.

Definitely a little oasis within the desert. There are a lot of places to sit and enjoy the environment. There are tons of palm trees and flowers as well as huge cacti garden. Some animals roam around free like peacocks, chickens and some goats, others are kept in cages like the moneys and different kinds of birds. One of the highlights was a baby donkey. In general the park is really nice and a good place to unwind. You should definitely spend some time here while on Sal.

A serene, shaded escape from crowded hotels. This is a marvelous place that is just lovely. There is a cactus garden with some spectacular specimens as well as other beautiful areas. There are numerous aviaries and other animals. All in all, well worth a visit, please leave an extra donation as entry is only five euros.

I was a bit sceptical about the animals in cages until I learned the history - they are rescued and so so loved here, their are part of the Eco park family and they are well taken care of ❤️ if anyone is concerned about their state - you can always make a donation and support them. Overall it was a very nice visit, learning about different trees and finally being able to get to know more about the flora here in Sal.

Love it, spent 2hrs here and we had the best time. From the moment we entered the kind man on the front gate showed us where to purchase our ticket. It is €5pp. Lots of plants and flowers and many rescue animals. There's a swing and plenty of photo opportunities. We saw the donkey's being washed and fed. Everything was clean and all workers friendly. Only 10 minutes walk from the main hotels up the road.

We spent a wonderful morning here enjoying the beautiful trees and plants. The park is very well maintained and you can see how hard they've worked on the gardens. Plenty of seats in shaded areas were appreciated and the little hut was cute to cool off in as the mid-day sun can be fierce. The animals were a real treat - I loved the sassy chickens roaming around, being super noisy! My love for goats is unparalleled so I was delighted by all of them ❤️ We had some delicious ice-cream - definitely recommend the hibiscus 🌺 The staff were very friendly and answered all our questions. We can't wait to plant the seeds we bought and see what grows! An absolute dream of a place - definitely visit if you want to spend a few hours relaxing away from the heat of the beach.

What a wonderful oasis. From the moment you walk in, with the chickens running around. The plants and trees are all labelled. There’s other animals to see like peacocks ,parrots and other birds ,donkeys, guinea pigs and a giant tortoise. We stopped for refreshments and bought a couple of souvenirs

Great place where you can just sit and drink juice from fresh baobab, fortunately survived pandemic and rescued animals still have safe place for living, they make own good diet on site and take care on them which is visible on every step. Many interesting plant species on the site give shadow to rest in hot days. Ticket is good priced only 5 EUR. Very impressive is thing that private zoo functions without government help what is unheard of europe. People who working here is very nice.

This is such a beautiful tranquil place. I really enjoyed being here! It's like an oasis of calmness and peace. Lovely plants, some which are native to other regions of the world 🌎 There is also the 🌵 cactus garden, which leads onto some further interesting places. It's also nice to see some animals, however I did question if it was the best for some of them to be there such as the lone monkey, red parrot (pictured), and some lambs which had gone so long without shearing that their wool had actually turned into locs. Perhaps they would be better housed elsewhere.

Went to the botanical gardens on one of the TUI excursions. Lots of rescued animals to see and there’s a cafe/bar to stop and have a drink which was a nice touch. It’s an oasis in the middle of a desert and hidden from the high winds on the island

A very nice walk. You can see the people's care, love and hard work in this place. To me this is a must visit place when in Santa Maria. You can find a place in the shadow throughout the Park which makes the walk fantastic.

It's ok. The baobab juice was excellent. But there's not much there. I understand why the birds and animals are caged buy the monkey looked traumatised. A worthy project but not necessarily worth the walk from Santa Maria.

Kiva päiväretkikohde. Alueen kiertää tunnissa ja nähtävää riittää sopivasti. Paljon lintuja, kuten papukaijoja, kanoja ja riikinkukkoja. Lisäksi löytyy kilpikonnia, aaseja, vuohia ja jopa yksi apina. Paikassa kahvila ja levähdysalueita. Santa Mariasta pääsee tänne edullisesti taksilla, mutta näyttää moni tulleen vuokrapyörälläkin.

I visited the place on May 22, I visited it today again May 24. The place is getting even better. On both of my visits, you can see the care which is constantly put in that place. It's an oasis in the middle of nowhere. I will visit it again next time. The only thing I miss is - I wanted to buy some plants (as a small plumeria) but there is no option for that (just a suggestion). The animals are friendly and had great interaction with both of the monkeys, the goats and the donkeys. It's beautiful place, well cared for.

A nice curiosity, in a relatively short distance from Santa Maria, if u bored after all-day-beach times. It’s not that big, you can walk the entire place in about 30-45 min, and then have a nice ice cream at the cafe or relax on one of the long chairs, surrounded by greenery. really refreshing in a mostly dry/sandy Sal landscape Motivational plaques all around - cute touch P.s. If u want to avoid crowds - come around 5pm: I was almost alone with the animals.

Pachamama Eco Park is the hidden gem of Sal. The owners are incredible people who are not only kind but are truly passionate about their work. From the moment you walk in you are teleported to a biodiversity haven which reflects the owners passion. Where it shouldn't be possible, cape verdean flora create an oasis for life, giving shelter to various rescued animals who all look exceptionally healthy with no signs of stress. Whether passing by for a quick visit or looking to relax i guarantee that anyone will have an amazing experience!

Such a beautiful and tranquil setting. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. I was attracted to the fact that the animals are in a sanctuary environment so not like a captive zoo where they exploited... they all seem to be well looked after and with plentiful of room to roam. The garden features an array of vibrant and exotic plants I’ve not seen before so was definitely well worth the trip over... I spent about two hours here which was just enough time to see everything.

Nice botanic garden with a lot of beautiful plants and flowers and home animals (donkeys didn´t look in well condition, but I guess they were old). But I´m not fan of keeping wild animals in cages so to see stressed little monkey strongly holding its toy and bored parrot ara in quite small cage with no possibility to fly, was quite sad for me. But I recommend to visit it - nice place to relax.

children) as we were staying at a hotel nearby. I had read the reviews and expected to be there for an hour or two. We all had such a wonderful time that we were there for much longer. The gardens are well kept and there is a large variety of plants. The children enjoyed the animals and the the parrot saying “hola”, the donkey foal and the peacock showing it’s feathers were a huge highlight. The gardens also has a cafe that serves small snacks and drinks at reasonable prices. I would definitely recommend a visit and we all agreed it was well worth the 5€ entry fee. Thank you for a lovely visit.
