The owner of this place is one of the sweetest and dedicated person I have ever met. He thought about every detail in sweet/salty swell. Everything is extremely welcoming and cozy. Besides, the cleaning is impeccable! Also, I really liked the decoration of the entire place. No matter the room you get, you always have access to the common kitchen and a nice terrace with a garden. The kitchen has everything you need and is super organized. The rooms have very organized systems so your stay goes smoothly (as I said, the owner thought about every detail). The cherry on top of the cake is the list of restaurants/bars/places to visit (with several routes taking into account the amount of time you have) that the owner (born and raised in Porto) has prepared for you. He provided us his number in case we had any emergency. He was very friendly, warm and open minded. Besides, he is a surfer, which makes him a badass cool person.

Everything is well-designed, with all the right facilities, and offers great comfort. The manager is responsive, informative, and hospitable. Special props for developing a guide with relevant info on the hostel but also personally recommended sites and eateries. Light sleepers would benefit from earplugs for the street-adjacent dorm.

Clean hostel with cozy living room and friendly staff in great location, only 3 minutes away from the metro. Almost all the guests showed great respect to one another. What I felt sorry was on the last night I stayed, a bunch of guys were drinking and making so much noise at 2 am.

Miguel was the perfect host. He adapted to my arrival time patiently. The hostel is very modern and super clean. Close to the supermarket and not too far from the city centre. Highly recommended. I would only say that a fan in the room would help since the window faced the street, and keeping it open was a bit too loud. Apart from that facilities are really great.

Comfy stay and good value for money. It could be better with a Netflix. Also noise isolation glass will be perfect.

Lovely host, very helpful. Room was clean and nice. I loved the exterior and interior and shared spaces. Had central heating but in the morning felt a little bit chilly.

Miguel was very nice and a happily welcomed us to Porto. The house was spacious with a great back door area - felt more like sharing a house than staying in a hostel. The rooms are nice but every time I was going on the third level of the bunk bed felt like rock climbing 😂. I knew that when I booked so be aware before booking in case you get there and all beds from level below are taken. Just one thing that needs improvement is the gap between the beds and wall which is quite big so my phone and iPad did slide between there and landed on my roommate on the bed below (he was asleep so nothing happened). Location was great near a big supermarket and other shops. Highly recommend.

Best hostel I've ever stayed in. Clean, classy, secure... great location. The only thing that might be an issue for some is there are triple bunk beds, so as long as you are ok with climbing its great.

The room was clean and modern. It’s very well located in Porto. The only small thing is that the kitchen is in another building.

Nice, clean and calm Hostel with a very friendly host, I would always return. Be aware that the highest bunk is quite high.

Miguel is kind, helpful and genuine. This is a small private hostel with a nice, intimate vibe- much better for meeting people than some other big, busy hostels that I've stayed at. Well kept kitchen/lounge area, and a deck with some tables for an evening drink.

Sweet swell is more than a usual hostel: Thanks to Miguel, one of the owners, who is a genuinely sweet, careful and helpful person, you will feel at home from the first day. The hostel is really clean and tidy: everything, from the kitchen/living room to the bathroom is well equipped and organised and the cleaner Juliana is a lovely and cheerful woman. What gives an extra value is definitely the garden where you can have your meals or just spend sometime with the people you will meet in the dorm. Will definitely come back!

Everything perfect! This is the best hostel I've ever been. It's clean, comfortable, safe, the kitchen is great, bathroom clean, showers clean. To make it even better, Miguel was so kind to wait for our check way after the check in times ( our flight was delayed so we arrived at 23.30-24) and he made sure to send every info on WhatsApp. Really really great place and Porto is an amazing city

This hostel is truly lovely. It's everything you see on the pictures and more. We stayed there three nights and had such an amazing experience with the other people staying there. You can see that the owner really put afford in every little detail. It is offer the top clean and super well organized with comfortable beds. We will definitely visit Porto again and we will try to stay at Sweet Swell as well.

😠 It could have been really great if the owner of this hotel were not that impolite. She made us feel incomfortable many times. Whenever we were laughing a bit, she was coming at our door, knocking or yelling. My friend understand portugese but I don't, so she was telling not so nice things to her abo...
