OMG, this place is simply fantastic! We had to queue for almost one hour to get but it’s worth the wait. The food has that grandma feeling that takes your memory back to your childhood. All the dishes were delicious. Staff was friendly. Cannot recommend more!

Super delicious with an incredibly welcoming staff!! Worthy of 5 stars if not for the hour and a half wait. Great prices for traditional food in a popular area of Porto. Worth the wait!!

They have so many reviews it’s hard to add anything new here. Some practical info for fellow travellers: go early. We arrived at 11:35 for the 12:00 opening and were the third pair in line. They have 4-5 tables inside and 1-2 outside from what I recall. The table beside us came back for lunch after being there for dinner the night before. The codfish and potato dish is awesomely made. Pork cheeks were super filling too with mashed potato. Verde soup was clean and a nice appetizer. For any sangria lovers, the portions are generous. Prices are excellent. Quality is excellent. Every bite hits the nail right on the head. Would easily recommend to all my food loving friends.

The food was good, price also very nice, it just that the restaurant is way to crowded, the line was super long, I waited outside for 2hours just to eat there. And that drastically drop the mood. Make sure before you go call them for a reservation or come early.

Best meal we had in Porto! Highly recommend the codfish pastel de nata (savoury), tuna profiteroles, black pork cheek, codfish and shrimp rice. The wines and desserts were also excellent, and the service was just lovely. Well worth the queue (not unusual to wait 45+ mins), and everything was fairly priced.

The waiting was long but the food definitely worth it. The petiscos were amazing, better than the main dishes overall. The wine also was very good. Is a small place so arrive early , otherwise you will be waiting for an hour. The owners are nice and friendly!

Over 4.8 stars with 1500+ reviews says it all. Really delicious food (cod fish and franchesinha). Not many things to choose from but quality is guaranteed. The restaurant is a little small so you might end up waiting In a line but definitely worth it. Seems like a family owned business as well. Give it a try

Tiny place - but a must go - worth the wait! Open 12-16 and 19-22 but not all days! The staff is super friendly- the food is super yummy! If you miss this you miss Porto! No take-outs, no delivery - you must queue!

A MUST go when in Porto. It was absolutely delicious. The best Bacalhau as Bras I’ve ever tried, and the octopus was perfectly cooked. Honestly I super recommend these two dishes, we super enjoyed them. We asked recommendations for the dessert, other than being absolutely lovely waitresses, super kind and attentive, she gave us her favorite dessert. The strawberry mousse with Porto wine. It was so perfectly creamy with fresh strawberries, Porto wine in the bottom and some candy cristals on the top, the combination of textures was amazing. You might have to wait some time to catch a table so maybe a good idea to get there early. There’s around 4 tables inside and 2 outside. Service was super fast! We paid 40€ for 2 main dishes, 1 dessert and a bottle of vino verde, totally worth it!

Highly recommend for authentic Portuguese food, one of our best meals in Portugal. Ordered their appetizers (one of each), francesinha sandwich and cod fish a bras style. All were tasty and delicious. We arrived around 230pm and saw a line of about 14 people. Waited about 1 hour total. Long wait but 100% worth it. Another option would be to arrive 30 min before they open for dinner.

A visit to this place must be planned in advance. It is very popular (for a reason) and there are just a few tables and no reservations with a live queue. To guarantee yourself a table, it is best to come early in advance (~20-30 min before opening). I tried a nice flaky appetizer with local sausage and spinach which was crunchy and very tasty. Next I chose francesinha, which was very savoury with great tasting meats and topped with a hot and slightly spicy tomato sauce. Great tastes and there were a lot of other nice items on the menu. Large sizes portions and kind people.

The food here was some of the best we had in Portugal. Excellent traditional Portuguese dishes with amazingly friendly service. Make sure to get there EARLY, as there is limited seating and a line forms quickly.

One of the highlights of our trip to Porto. It's a nice cozy family run restaurant. We arrived before they opened and got seated as soon as they opened. Later in the evening there was quite a lineup and people were being turned away. The seating is limited so arrive early to get a table. Their food was amazing. And the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this place.

You’ll need to queue, but it’s definitely worth the wait, gorgeous food at reasonable prices. Best I’ve had in Porto. Lovely staff too.

from the moment we walked in the experience was wonderful! we ordered the braised pork with mashed potatoes and the francesina. The braised pork was absolutely delicious and the service was wonderful and quick. It’s a tiny restaurant but has a wonderful vibe and serves delicious food

What a neat little spot! We went for the traditional dishes, and it was worth the wait. The lineup is something you just have to embrace, because once you are seated inside it's a wonderful experience. The service is efficient, without making you feel like they are just trying to turn tables as quickly as possible. Would definitely recommend you put it on your list of places to visit!

Everything was amazing. The staff are very nice. They even gave me a tester of pig cheek’s sauce to taste how spicy it is. And it was delicious! The wait is worth it

Absolutely loved this restaurant. I think it’s a must visit when you’re in Porto. We waited in line for 45 minutes and it was worth it. The food is so special and the staff is so nice. I didn’t feel like they were trying to rush us. I really appreciated the recommendations from the staff, especially with wine and beer. I love that they have only five tables, and it’s a no-frills restaurant that has genuine food. Would visit again!

It was a unique experience on my first day in Porto since I met Fatima and Beatrice. And I'm saying experience because it's not only that I ate delicious food and unique tastes. I met two wonderful persons that made me feel like home. Thank you agai from the bottom of my heart.

This place was recommended to us and when we read the reviews we were even more curious to go. We had to wait for a little bit (about 1,5 hrs), but we knew this and entertained ourselves by getting some beer from a supermarket nearby. We had a table inside and started with fried meat and fish balls, very nice! Then I finally got to order the 'bacalhau a bras' (my sister is very excited about this), and my husband got the rice with shrimp and bacalhau. Super delicious and the portions are made to share! Finished it off with a strawberry mousse and Porto crème brûlée; leite crème. If you arrive on time, are prepared to wait and if you make your time in the queue fun, this is definitely worth it!

We waited for 30 mins and it was worth every minute. It is a small restaurant with less than 10 tables. So come early and avoid Lunch crowd. The beef cheek is super tender and soft.

I waited for an hour and was able to enter the restaurant. I ordered octopus and cod rice, but the taste was not special and I was disappointed. Sangria also had a different flavour than I expected. I think the price is too high. There are more delicious restaurants, so I don't think you need to come here. It’s hyped.

A must visit in Porto! First of all - the service! It was the best experience I've ever had. Communication was very good, extremely friendly and personal. The food was equally as great. Definitely try the bolinha de alheira and profiterole de atum! I would eat a plate of those... We waited for an hour but it was definitely worth it. Just go and try it out yourself!

  • 5/5 Keegan 8 months ago on Google
Food was beautiful, the best we have had in Portugal. We waited in line for an hour, and it was well worth the wait. The staff were very friendly and we will definitely come back!

Voltaria has truly amazing food. We saw lineups every time we passed by. Finally, we had time to lunch there. Of course, we got there early (one of the first; arrived at 11:15 for 12:00 opening) and dined at a nice outdoor table across from the restaurant. Tables inside and out are very few. (No reservations and no take-outs.) We actually were seated and ordered by 11:45. We had the octopus àLagareiro and were offered bread to sop up the wonderful leftover olive oil. Then we tried the Francesinha, Porto’s most famous traditional dish. It was awesome. Can’t say enough good things about this very small unpretentious restaurant.

I would say: if there is heaven this is how they cook there. :) One of the best dishes we had across the Europe. Definitely worth waiting in line even for an hour. The five stars it’s not enough but there is not more here. You should just go there take black pig dinner, try tuna profiterole (one of the best starter we ever had) and try some dessert. Worth every euro we spent :)

Rustic little restaurant but staff v friendly. Food v good. Gorgeous starters - think I would have been happy trying all of them. Codfish in cream delicious. Cream of heaven dessert heavenly. V reasonably priced too.

Food is very good!! Cozy and friendly place! Make sure to come early because it’s quite tiny and popular. The fish soup was ssssooo good omg! Octopus salad was very refreshing and nice. Oven cooked octopus was a bit over cooked and dry, tho the seasoning was very on point. Francesinha was nicely cooked, I finally got to try at a decent place. But I guess it wasn’t my thing, too heavy haha. If there’s chance, def will revisit this nice place!

One of the best desserts I have ever had in my life. Soup was also excellent and loved the general atmosphere. The owner and waiters were also incredibly friendly. Would highly recommend. Update: we went back on the last night of our trip and the food was just as excellent as the first. Would return whenever we come to Porto

Amazing! Our favorite restaurant during our stay in Porto. Absolutely delicious starters, equally amazing main dish and best dessert in my life. I recommend booking a table in advance

Voltaria had the best octopus I have ever tried. Food is delicious and worth the wait. Ambient and the staff is excellent, they make the overall experience 10/10. Highly recommended if you are staying in Porto.

I pay a visit here every time I'm in Porto. For me, this place beautifully captures the spirit of Portugal. The environment is cozy, the staff is kind and polite beyond belief, and the food by itself is a big enough reason to come here and have lunch. Have their Caldo Verde, Francesinha and a pint of beer for lunch for a true Portuguese experience. Or you can just drop by for tapas and a glass of wine in a lazy evening. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

It was a very good restaurant! I loved it there, but they don’t have too many seats😭 I waited for about 20mins but you wouldn't feel like you wasted your time. Very friendly and kind staff, nice food and also a good price! I definitely recommend the dessert called cream for heaven🥳🥳🥳

  • 5/5 Katherine W. 10 months ago on Google
Brilliant food, very friendly staff, made our last meal in Porto a very good one! We arrived at 11:30 to ensure we got a table when it opened at 12. We weren’t the only ones who did this so if you want a table at 12 I’d recommend arriving at least 10/15 minutes before it opens. Worth the wait!

loved the food, tasted so comforting. portions were big and I wished I had a bigger appetite to order more! the owners were really friendly and helpful too. highly recommended!

The service was the best! Fátima even gave as recommendations for other restaurants and food we should try in Porto. The food we had was amazing, the dish we liked most was the bacalhau con nata. The size of the place is small so you probably will have to wait in line for a bit, but as the sign at the door says, good food is worth the wait.

  • 5/5 franzita f. 1 year ago on Google
Enjoyed every bite! Whenever I stop into Porto; Voltaria is my go to place! Still can't forget the taste of the delicious shrimp and cod rice !! Go here in advance, as the queue to this place will get onto your nerves!!

Some of the best food I've had in two months of travelling. Notable dishes for me were the 'Tortugal' and the 'Cream from Heaven' dessert. Was also amazing to taste and learn about the 40+ year old Ruby port. Service was amazing also. Will recommend this to anyone coming to Porto!

  • 5/5 Alisa G. 1 year ago on Google
Wonderful spot. Got there at 10 to noon and there were several people before but was seated outside (my choice) immediately and I have to say the service with Fatima (the owner and the server) is excellent. She's funny, attentive, and just makes you feel at home. The food is great and the prices are beyond decent as compared to other popular spots around (looking at you TapaBento) but way way better. Highly recommended.

  • 5/5 Simon S. 1 year ago on Google
A bit of a wait to get a seat due to the limited seating here, however once seated you are in for a treat. The octopus here was the best I had during my time in Portugal. The shrimp in the risotto were so flavourful. Our waitress whom I believe is the owners wife (sorry I forget your name!) was very friendly in making recommendations and lovely to chat with after the meal. I will definitely be coming back.

  • 5/5 Rolando P. 1 year ago on Google
Best meal in Porto, absolutely worth to wait an hour outside, because unfortunately, the restaurant only has 5 available table for 2 or 4 people maximum. The appetizers are amazing, as the main dishes. Very friendly waiter, he even offered us 2 glasses of wine

  • 5/5 F. Z. 2 years ago on Google
Small restaurant with friendly, very efficient staff and delicious food. If you're there without reservation, probably will have to wait and there's a long line. Octopus was super. They have different desserts, all good options. They have a map inside and there you can add the country you're from (if someone else didn't do so before).

  • 5/5 Maksim A. 8 months ago on Google
Brilliant place. The small menu makes this place special and able to serve one of the best dishes in Porto. Very friendly staff, speaks very well English. For such a low price and such a high class I def recommend to visit this place. 5 out of 5. just to note it is a live queue and no bookings

Here is the best restaurant in porto for me. I can't forget food that I ate here. And the boss is really kind. All the food is excellent, Especially I can't forget the taste of port wine I ate here. (Red and white) That wine was the first time I tried port wine in my life. If the boss read this review, Please inform me your port wine name🙏. I visited on November 6th.
