We could not have asked for a better stay for the six nights at the Canto de Luz in Porto for our honeymoon. We had one of the Urban Retreat rooms with a garden patio. The hotel is on a somewhat busy street, yet it was so quiet and peaceful inside. The location in relation to everything to see and do in Porto was perfect. The staff were all so welcoming and kind and gave great suggestions, even some fun off the beaten path discoveries. Our room had so many personal touches to make it feel like home. Beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook meals. The washer/dryer was a big plus. And the made-to-order breakfast each day? AMAZING! I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

A true gem in Porto. We stayed in the City Retreat on the ground floor, and it was a delightful room. They made fabulous use of the space, had a wonderful amount of natural light but still plenty of privacy and very little noise for a ground floor room, and a bed so comfortable we wanted to spend half the day in it. The breakfast was also great, with a bit of variety each day but also some standard offerings to look forward to: a tasty surprise of a local baked good good or pastry, eggs, ham and cheese, fresh fruit, and just absurdly good fresh squeezed orange juice. The only reason we got out of the nice bed was to make sure we had time to savor the breakfast. There also a nice communal feel to it, as we ended up chatting with some other guests while lounging in the breakfast area (which makes a good place to relax during the day or in the evening, though we spent our time out and about). Finally, the location. It’s a short walk from the light rail station, which runs directly to and from the airport — though it’s an old city in Europe, so there are still cobbles and hills that make dragging a suitcase a bit jarring. Still, it’s barely 30 minutes from the airport, and 25 of that is on the train. And while it’s street is pretty chill and quiet, it’s a short walk to a great number of restaurants, bars, wine shops, etc etc: the options are all right there, yet won’t keep you up like if you were in the tourist havens closer to the river. All in all, a wonderful experience. We are already planning a return trip with a friend, to get another crack at the food and views and architecture and history and wines and people of Porto… and we will be sure to stay at Canto de Luz when we do!

Lovely little boutique hotel central to downtown Porto. Those with mobility issues would find it unsuitable as its on a steep hill (most of Porto is!!) Rooms are beautifully appointed with luxurious bathrooms, first time I've had an Alexa in a hotel room!! Beds are so comfortable and bedding is top quality. Breakfast is served in the atrium and consists of pastries, cheese and ham or granola with fruit and yogurt. You can also order eggs whatever way you prefer. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend Canto de Luz.

What a wonderful hotel! Everything in there is clearly well thought of, nicely designed, comfortable and pleasant. The staff is simply wonderful. Helpful, warm and they give you great hints for sightseeing and restaurants. We stayed at the Garden room on the third floor. Very spacious, comfortable, modern and, important, very quiet. The breakfast is superb and the staff do the very best so that you feel almost at home. Surely worth another stay next time we are in Porto.

Everything about this hotel is amazing. The employees were so attentive, even booking us reservations for dinner. They make you fresh breakfast in the morning and have a wine machine. The rooms are large and beautiful and equipped with an “Alexa.” 10/10 recommend.

It was a short stay, just overnight, but we felt welcomed and supported just as if we were staying for a week. I would happily return for a longer period anytime…and will definitely look up their other properties next time I am travelling.

Great friendly and very high spec small hotel wonderfully placed at the top of historic Porto centre & near to key Trinidad Metro terminus. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The communal areas & rooms are both extremely highly spec'd, with great air conditioning. Extra touches like universal plug sockets being fitted in the rooms & fast WiFi made the tech side of the place extremely smooth too. The wine & port dispensing machine located near main communal area is stocked with high quality choices & very easy to operate

Perfect by all means. The staff hotel made us feel welcome from the starts taking care of every small detail.. The rooms are spotless clean. The breakfast is amazing and it just seems like the place is run by people who love to host. We will surely come back!

We loved our fabulous stay at Canto de Luz. We booked a Garden Duplex Villa with private patio; and it was the perfect place to unwind, relax and get a break from being a tourist in Porto. The living room, washer/dryer, kitchen, king bed (super comfortable) and great walk in shower were all new & modern. It's a hightech place with everything connected to an easy to use touchpad system. Staff was great to work with and using Whatsapp to book and communicate was seamless. Shoutout to Susan who was so attentive before and during our stay. Breakfast was delicious and very filling. Chefs do a great job accommodating all the guest request. Location is close to many great restaurants, easy walk to the metro station and overall it is a really cool neighborhood to walk around. Can't wait to stay here again.

We loved our two nights at Canto de Luz. Our room was super spacious and the bathrooms are modern and update. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is delicious. I loved the location...you can walk to everything but you are not in the thick of the tourism. I would definitely recommend a stay here to explore Porto.

As avid travelers, my wife and I have stayed at countless hotels all over the world. This may have been our favorite ever - from the thoughtfully designed space, luxurious modern touches, and friendly staff, we were simply blown away by the value. Made to order daily breakfast was delicious and served with a smile :) Would recommend whole heartedly to anyone!

We were hosted in this amazing small hotel for four nights. From the moment we arrived it was clear that this place is special. The staff is so warming and helpful, the design is correct to the very small details, and also the location, very close to almost everything but still quiet enough. We recommend it to everyone that want to stay in a warming, humble and beautiful place in wonderful Porto.

Everyone we interacted with was genuine, friendly, and helpful and overall was a superb experience at all points throughout our stay. Thank you to everyone who made our time in Porto unforgettable! We will ABSOLUTELY stay here again when we return to Porto. Highly recommend!

Canto de Luz is a beautifully designed property. We absolutely loved staying here for the 4 nights we were in Porto. Everyone very welcoming & friendly. Room very clean, comfortable & a beautiful bathroom with a great shower. We stayed in garden room level 3. It had a beautiful balcony. Breakfast was amazing! Home cooked every morning, high quality & again from very friendly staff, great way to start the day. Location is excellent, so easy to get around all of Porto. I recommend Canto de Luz & would love to stay again one day. Room, location, ammenities all perfect.

Place is very esthetically pleasing. Staff are gracious.Breakfast served at table ( a little variation would be nice). Few drawbacks...no storage in rooms...no closet and no drawers. A shelf with few hangers and a small drawer available. Only place to store things is a narrow ledge over the bed and in the bathroom where it can precariously hang. No hooks either...so unless one is planning to live out of suitcase, it can be tricky. Hard to see from pics of the hotel and from the reviews. Also, room cleaning can be improved. The floors are not swept and towels not even folded during 5 day stay. Beds are very comfy. Added bonus...Netflix. Would not classify this establishment as 4+ * luxury....more like an elevated air b & b with breakfast. Do not compare it with a hotel.

The hotel is extremely comfortable with spacious rooms that had everything we needed. Since the moment of arriving we felt very well looked after and the staff were always attentive. The breakfast was great with fresh fruit and tasty cakes and bread, yoghurt and eggs. Its a climb up the road to the hotel from the city but most of the sites and things to do are within a 20 minute stroll. A great location.

Lovely hotel. Lots of thought went into the design of the rooms. The breakfast was delicious and the location was close to everything we wanted to do in central Porto. Our room had a quiet porch. The electric outlets were all well-labeled which was much appreciated. My only regret was that I scheduled our train out of town too early to enjoy breakfast on the last day of our stay!

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Jackie who gave us a tour of our absolutely stunning room. Susan was in contact with us leading up to the trip to make sure we had everything we needed! The breakfasts were delicious and prepared with love. 100/100 would stay there again! Ps. Be sure to ask about local eats, we went to both recommendations and loved the food!

Thank you to Thais and her team for a truly wonderful experience in Porto! We had our wedding on-site and it was the perfect destination for a small elopement. The location and views are great, and every room is comfortable and quiet. The heated pool off the back of the Villa made for the perfect place to relax. The daily breakfast, made fresh to order, kept our entire wedding party happy and energized! Walking distance to anything you need, and the Ribiera isn't far, though the walk back up the hill will have you breaking a sweat -- gotta love Porto!

Absolutely loved our stay. The city view room was very spacious and had an amazing view. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. The breakfast was delicious - fresh fruits, coffee, breads, muffins, eggs and more. Walking distance from many restaurants, bars and shops! Definitely walkable to the waterfront. Electronic keypad for entry into the hotel and front door made everything very easy. Highly recommend Canto de Luz!

This was our first trip to Porto and we absolutely fell in love with CANTO DE LUZ a beautiful place. The attention was spectacular, especially our host Gaia! She and the team are some of the kindest people. Our stay was absolutely beautiful, and we loved every moment. This is somewhere you want to stay so don’t hesitate to book, we will definitely return on our next trip to Porto.!!! Breakfast is Amazing (fresh fruit, baked pastry, homemade yogurt) We had a super early departure and Gaia even left us a to-go breakfast box. We were within walking distance of great restaurants and amenities. Excellent accommodation and best service recommended 100%!

We stayed here for 3 days, and it was just perfect. The staff, location, breakfast, room, cleanliness, air conditioning, full kitchen, TV, storage. Everything we needed. Very easy and stress-free.

Location, rooms, hygiene, staff and food were impeccable. They even have a couple of cats they’ve rescued, which sleep on the decking outside. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Porto, choose this.

Great hotel in middle of Porto. We stayed in Garden Room 2 which was very quiet and calm and comfy. Breakfasts were amazing. Only 5 minute walk to attractions or tram station. Would definitely recommend.

What a gem!!! Unassuming front door hides a beautiful interior. Rooms are spacious and the shared kitchen is magnificent. Excellent customer service even before you get here. Nicola the receptionist is welcoming and very friendly. Breakfast is as good as they say it is on the website - feels very homely. Location is perfect easy to walk around Porto from here. In summary excellent value for money and can’t wait to try the other places in the portfolio.

What a wonderful place - we will be back for sure. Canto de Luz really gets everything right. From the moment we booked the communication was second-to-none, making for a seamless stay. The atmosphere in the hotel is so warm and friendly. The staff are all lovely and service is excellent. We were staying with our 13-month-old and she was made to feel so welcome, from the basket of lovely wooden toys placed in our room to her very own plastic cutlery and crockery at breakfast. And as everyone says, breakfast is not to be missed. We were in the City View Suite in the 3rd floor and we couldn’t fault it. The whole hotel is beautifully designed - a lot of thought has clearly gone into making it look visually stunning while still feeling relaxed and welcoming. On top of this Canto de Luz is located in a great area - calm, close to lots of interesting little restaurants, cafes and shops, away from the main tourist areas, but near a metro station and an easy walk to anywhere you might want to go. We will definitely be back and look forward to trying out their other properties. We really couldn’t recommend it highly enough. You will not regret booking here. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!!!
