A
true
gem
in
Porto.
We
stayed
in
the
City
Retreat
on
the
ground
floor,
and
it
was
a
delightful
room.
They
made
fabulous
use
of
the
space,
had
a
wonderful
amount
of
natural
light
but
still
plenty
of
privacy
and
very
little
noise
for
a
ground
floor
room,
and
a
bed
so
comfortable
we
wanted
to
spend
half
the
day
in
it.
The
breakfast
was
also
great,
with
a
bit
of
variety
each
day
but
also
some
standard
offerings
to
look
forward
to:
a
tasty
surprise
of
a
local
baked
good
good
or
pastry,
eggs,
ham
and
cheese,
fresh
fruit,
and
just
absurdly
good
fresh
squeezed
orange
juice.
The
only
reason
we
got
out
of
the
nice
bed
was
to
make
sure
we
had
time
to
savor
the
breakfast.
There
also
a
nice
communal
feel
to
it,
as
we
ended
up
chatting
with
some
other
guests
while
lounging
in
the
breakfast
area
(which
makes
a
good
place
to
relax
during
the
day
or
in
the
evening,
though
we
spent
our
time
out
and
about).
Finally,
the
location.
It’s
a
short
walk
from
the
light
rail
station,
which
runs
directly
to
and
from
the
airport
—
though
it’s
an
old
city
in
Europe,
so
there
are
still
cobbles
and
hills
that
make
dragging
a
suitcase
a
bit
jarring.
Still,
it’s
barely
30
minutes
from
the
airport,
and
25
of
that
is
on
the
train.
And
while
it’s
street
is
pretty
chill
and
quiet,
it’s
a
short
walk
to
a
great
number
of
restaurants,
bars,
wine
shops,
etc
etc:
the
options
are
all
right
there,
yet
won’t
keep
you
up
like
if
you
were
in
the
tourist
havens
closer
to
the
river.
All
in
all,
a
wonderful
experience.
We
are
already
planning
a
return
trip
with
a
friend,
to
get
another
crack
at
the
food
and
views
and
architecture
and
history
and
wines
and
people
of
Porto…
and
we
will
be
sure
to
stay
at
Canto
de
Luz
when
we
do!
