It does not matter if it summer or winter, there is always something to do or see at the lakeside. Big children playground, basketball and volleyball courts, sup and boat rentals are just for addition to good swimming place

The lake is probably few kms away from the bus stop. This is really nice if you go in slightly cloudy day. U will walk through city, highways, jungle areas etc. The length is 13.5 km, which would take roughly 3hrs. We started 1pm and finished by 4pm that includes snacks time I. The middle of the way. The best place to have snack and rest time is the second resting place after 7km distance.

This is a beautiful lake. Clean enough to swim in it, hire a boat for a while or walk around it.

Beautiful place

We went in autumn, in the cold weather. We stopped at the swimming pool parking lot. It wasn't really a big army of ducks for the swimmers, who then swim to the plateau in a rush. There are boat rentals nearby and probably more since the season is over. It can be seen that in the summer the place is filled with a lot of people. The local fisherman knew what fish were there and what time the bigger fish arrived, when the flounder came in. Of course, I also enjoyed the joy of catching fish, but the fish had not arrived yet. The view from the beach is a beautiful view of the city of Viljandi. If you just drive through Viljandi, you won't see such beauty. I, too, was under the impression that there was nothing there. But those houses built on the hill and what a view, incredibly beautiful. I radically changed my prejudice.

Very nice and peaceful place, historical

A beautiful lake in the heart of Estonia. There are many ways to spend your free time at the lake. You can hike around the lake (12 kilometers), swim, relax on the beach or simply enjoy the view. A recommendation is the view from the castle ruins above the lake.
