This is the largest cemetery in Buenos Aires. In here the remains of many famous people rest in peace, Carlos Gardel, Jorge Newbery, Gustavo Cerati and so on. There are many mausoleums and most of them are amazing architecture. He was my first meet-up as a host in Local Guides.

Worth a visit if your in the area. Weirdly had a security guy in a car follow me around for the hour I was there. If I was into graverobbing i probally would pick one closer to home in Ireland.

Pretty cool cemetery with amazing mausoleum's for the Elite of Buenos Aires. The cemetery offers some shade in places and a nice walk through the ages of families who have buried their loved ones here. Access is free and entry is from the main gate only. Well worth a visit for an hour or so.

One of the most fascinating cemeteries that I ever visited. Half of it is allocated for beautiful tombs. But the main feature are underground rows of columbariums. Thousands and thousands of graves, under, above and on both sides of you. Such a monumental architecture

Very interesting cemetery to visit. We decided to visit this one instead of the more famous one in Recoletta. We're glad we did. The cemetery is huge and beautiful and was a fun place to spend a couple of hours.

It’s such an interesting place to explore Argentina from a different perspective. I have never seen such cemeteries before and it’s really interesting

Beautiful cemetery, but like many have said, many of the tombs have fallen into disrepair/look like they’ve been robbed. Smashed in windows, exposed stairwells, and destroyed interiors. It’s really sad. I think some of the exposed stairwells are hazardous too. Worth checking out, but I wish the city would maintain the location.

I'm not sure why it took me so long to visit Argentina's largest cemetery, but it turned it to be a strange and wonderful place really, a much richer, even comforting experience for me than the more tourist-famous one in Recoleta. If you dig cemeteries, this one's for you. Plan on staying a while, and wander.

It might sound strange to say about a cemetery, but I love this place and find it very relaxing to stroll around. Huge wide open spaces with a lot of trees and greenery. The initial section after going in the main entrance has a lot of grand mausoleums and some more famous historical Argentines such as tango singer Carlos Gardel and aviator Jorge Newbery, and beyond that is also a section ("rincon") with a lot of entertainers, musicians, sportspeople, artists and creative people all grouped together. There is also the Peron family tomb where Juan Domingo Peron was originally buried, although he has since been moved (interesting story that one, look it up). All in all, Chacarita is a great alternative visit to Recoleta cemetery.

A Buenos Aires must-see. I didn't have the opportunity to go with a guide but even just visiting alone I spent 3+ hours there. A beautiful, sprawling, unique cemetery. Pictures can never do it justice. Simply amazing. Keep an eye out for funerals which I hear are somewhat frequent and just be normally respectful. If you're hungry afterwards, the famous El Imperio de la Pizza is right next door...

It is the biggest cemetery of Buenos Aires City. It has a big section for mausoleums that is right in front of the main entrance, a huge underground (with galleries open to the sky) burial niche complex right after the mausoleums, and a ground burials zone that covers the rest of the area. This cemetery hosts mostly middle and low income people, as opposed to Recoleta which hosts almost exclusively high income people. Here one will find big pantheons that belong to mutual help societies of different immigration origins, work union pantheons, and of course many family mausoleums. Many popular idols have monuments here: most tango players and singers, pop singers, famous boxing champions, and some high class but popular persons too. The ground burials are mostly unkempt and the burial niche compound is a mixed bag, with dark, unkempt galleries and other ones that are airy and well lighted, with inner gardens that are a joy to look at.

The Most darkes and creepiest place that I’ve seen in my life. The vandals break into tombs and robe the graves, which is shocking. Free entry, smell of death (I mean it)

This place it’s much bigger from the Racoleta, the Gardel Grave is located here. It needs maintenance, however it’s a place to meet. There is a marble copy of La Pietá dí Michael Angel, and lots of amazing sculptures.

Interesting cemetery. It was free to enter and not many tourists here. It is so big, it was like walking through an actual neighborhood of houses. There is an area for personalities / famous people. There is also a lot of damage from theft and unkept graves. It's sad, but don't let this put you off from visiting. I enjoyed my day wandering around. I do recommend Chacarita.

This cemetery is the biggest one in the city. It's not touristy like Recoleta, but here you really feel the death all around. Skip Recoleta one.

A must for a visit. Please go with a local academics to explain the history of somebof the people entered here. The grounds are poorly kept. Such necropolis should be taken care by the state.

More interesting than Recoleta. Has a seperate cemetary for UK and another for German decendants. Massive underground vaults, mosoleums for union members, endless viriety in toumbs. Go here and have a slice of pizza across from the main enterence. Great activity for a rainy day.
