This
past
February
my
uncle
visited
this
hospital
for
pain
in
his
stomach
and
lack
of
eating.
He
was
proud
of
CEDIMAT
as
it
has
some
of
the
most
advanced
medicine
in
the
Dominican
Republic.
He
was
admitted
and
diagnosed
with
advanced
cirrhosis
of
the
liver
due
to
his
drinking.
Although,
there
was
little
they
could
do
due
to
the
late
stage
they
found
the
disease
there
were
several
things
that
bothered
the
entire
family
after
having
him
in
intensive
care
for
over
2
weeks
and
then
passing
away.
The
communication
was
TERRIBLE!
We
were
lucky
as
we
had
family
members
that
were
able
to
use
their
contacts
within
the
hospital
to
check
on
my
uncles
status
as
his
health
deteriorated.
The
doctors
would
provide
updates
a
week
at
a
time.
In
his
last
days
he
was
intubated
to
help
him
breathe.
We
found
out
through
our
channels
as
we
did
not
receive
a
phone
call
explaining
what
happened.
We
arrived
at
the
hospital
at
7am
with
the
intent
of
an
update
from
the
shift
change
doctor.
They
knew
we
were
there
but
instead
of
telling
us
what
happened
they
avoided
us.
I
visited
administration
looking
for
assistance.
The
head
doctor
of
the
department
showed
empathy
and
sent
another
doctor
to
walk
with
us
and
see
what
happened.
They
entered
the
private
intensive
care
area
and
never
came
back
out.
He
never
told
me
how
long
to
wait
for
an
update
or
sent
anyone
else
to
update
us.
Nothing.
He
dissapeared.
This
does
not
make
any
sense
for
a
patient
in
intensive
care.
They
only
allow
patients
to
receive
family
twice
per
day
for
less
than
an
hour.
This
is
unsubstantied
as
in
the
USA
when
a
patient
is
in
a
hospital
and
even
in
intensive
care
they
can
receive
visitors
at
any
time.
I
get
they’re
interest
in
limiting
visitors,
however,
only
being
able
to
see
a
sick
family
member
twice
a
day
for
an
hour
during
their
last
days
is
torture
to
say
the
least.
One
family
member
should
have
been
allowed
to
stay
with
the
sick
patient
at
all
times
period.
I
write
this
review
to
help
future
families
not
deal
with
what
we
dealt
with.
My
uncle
is
gone
and
it
won’t
bring
him
back.
The
cost
for
this
hospital
is
not
cheap.
The
doctors
snd
technology
may
have
helped
to
prolong
his
life,
but
how
do
you
trust
them
when
they
don’t
communicate.
We
were
professional,
decent
and
respectful.
They
have
their
rules
and
clear
and
consistent
communication
is
not
anything
they
stand
for.
If
you
have
the
funds
take
your
family
to
the
USA
if
not
take
them
to
a
public
hospital
or
private
clinic.
Do
NOT
take
them
to
Plaza
De
La
Salud
or
CEDIMAT.
