The Malecón of Santo Domingo is a long shore area along a principal highway and the Caribbean Sea. Most of its area are safe to walk or jog by, or cycle while doing exercises or just stop to have an amazing sunrise, day/afternoon or sunset. Pretty landscapes, nice view, easy access and parkings all the way. I love walking every morning about 4km long of the Malecón while enjoying the always stunning sunrise with the sea and waves.

A great place to walk, and it can be a very long walk, great for exercise, not too many people, plenty of police nearby. The downfall is the sun can be very hot, so sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat is recommended. As you leave the Colonial Zone area, there are less ships and restaurants, so bring water! Nice views as you can see in my photos.

Good for a long run or walk, although there are some areas where the pavement is slick and some areas that are not very well lit. Obviously, great for hanging out with family and friends. Plastics and paper litter seems to be part of the landscape, as it is on so many other parts of the island.

Beautiful promenade, with gorgeous sea views. 3 miles walking along this stretch, and I saw a lot of the key tourist attractions in the city, with no guide!

This was great place few years ago. Looks like local economy did no survived big economical hit from COVID times. Great potential for future. Ocean needs huge clean up. Locals trying to voluntarily put some effort, but it requires big commercial equipment to achieve this goal.

I visited this place in June 7th 2022. I went there for a morning jog. I started where the malecón intersects with Lincoln Av and went all the way to the Colonial area. The place is beautiful, as you go running you can hear the waves and watch the ocean. The only thing I noticed is that in some areas there was a lot of trash. Some of it probably because of the river but also there were beer bottles in some benches. Anyway, is cool to visit and take a walk.

A beautiful place you can go for free with your friends or family to watch the Sea. Just make sure the spot you choose has a Parking and more people surrounding you for safety measures. And get your Coconut water if you see a guy selling them. You can buy food in some places or bring your own.

Pretty nice view! Great for a walk, ride a bike or just sit and feel the smell of sea and sand. *If you go there, don’t throw away trash, please.

Beautiful place to visit in the evening with family or just a night out with your sweetheart. It's a very relaxing venue to visit during the day! Between 6pm-9pm are the busiest hours. The sun is hot during the day 😅 It's for free it's wheelchair friendly

Great for a long walk by the sea. Best at sunrise or sunset. The sidewalks are in good condition and there are plenty of places to seat and rest along the way. Bring your water though, as there are no street vendors or shops, other than at one end at plaza Juan Barón and near Montesinos. Sadly, water is contaminated (both from the nearby river as from raw sewage water dumped on the sea) and the beaches are swamped with plastic.

Honestly nothing like the pictures when You search it. It’s mostly a highway for heavy traffic and large trucks. Not much to see apart from derelict buildings and the odd hotel every now and then. Could be a lovely place but seems unloved. Plus lots of waste. Sad as it’s got so much potential. Lots of nice things to see in DR but not this.

It’s very hard to park. The traffic is intense and the drivers are aggressive. Pedestrians don’t have the right away. The restaurant lost power so we couldn’t order. We walked along the board walk and there was so much garbage along the coastline. An environmental agency needs to visit and teach kids and adults how to and the importance of keeping their oceans clean. The signage needs updating. It’s lackluster to take a photo with. They have shopping centers and hotels which are new and updated.

It is a nice place to spend time watching the ocean, walking around. If you want to spend money there are lots of restaurants. There is always lots of traffic but it is a beautiful place.

There is a lingering bad smell. Trash almost everywhere. If you go in the evening you'll find yourself getting approached by strangers pretty often usually to beg for money or try and force you to buy random stuff from them. It is not what it used to be.

A beautiful sight that has no comparison. I can watch this sight forever. Definitely a great place to take someone out on a date or just a good place to look at before your shift at work.

It was beautiful. However, the stench of urine and sewer, and the litter was unbearable. We had to leave right away. As a tourist destination it should be better attended.

Nice view of the Caribbean Sea but it’s heartbreaking to see all the trash along the sidewalk. Unbelievable! This made me not want to visit this area. Authorities need to take care of this.
