A must visit while you are in the Santo Domingo. Beautiful old streets. Many restaurants with affordable prices and delicious food. Even Coca-Cola Christmas tree looks good) You can spend many hours just walking around. Only one thing I didn't like - annoying guides who wants to offer their services.

It is pretty amazing to see the 500 year old creations and how they were fought over. Very interesting history, glad we did the visit.

Open plaza area. Has restaurants on one side and historic architecture on the other side. Becomes very lively during weekends. Try to avoid visiting during high noon because it might get pretty hot. Evening dinner at the restaurants can be a pleasant experience. The restaurants here are priced on the higher end.

The place is so appealing to the history of the city, located in colonial zone at the bank of the river where cruise ships stop. It has statue of the founder of the city and a large open field for events and parties, surrounded by Alcazar, Royal houses and restaurants. You can drive to this place from Punta Cana which is 2 and half hour nice drive or get bus tour to visit this place. Place is little dirty on the side, with lots of garbage disposals including plastic water bottles. City must pass the law to restore this heritage.

Great place to see the history of Santo Domingo and people watch. If you feel like spending some extra money, get a drink at the rooftop terrace. The view is great.

Great time there knowing a little bit of history, a lot of great pictures in places older than half a millennia, the home of Christopher Colombus son takes your breath away, lots of restaurants are near, and Avenida el Puerto is a couple of minutes, zona Colonial will also be in the area, lots of museums to visit and spend probably a whole day getting some knowledge about the country's history.

This is a "must visit" spot for any tourist visiting Santo Domingo. It is filled with historical structures, and you can see how one of the oldest Spanish colonies in the western hemisphere was laid out, and how it felt. In the immediate area, you will find many little restaurants, little shops you can find decent gifts at, and many other historical sites. It gets really crowded on weekends, as the locals like to go to have a good time in that area.

"Colonial Zone's" main square. Great for catching up a great concert, activity or just passing by a cool evening with friends. Surrounded by a lot of eating and drinking places, among a lot of touring/cultural landmarks. One of the "hearts" of the area.

This place was full of history and my kids truly enjoyed the fact that we could rent a headset which translated the information from each room into their preferred language. Loved it! Visiting thos place on Dominican Independence Day 2/27 was a true honor and a beautiful site!

Very nice place to chill in the evening. There was a live band which made it extra enjoyable. The restaurants have a great ambience, BUT beware of the tourist trap. The add-on taxes, tips almost doubles the cost

The Colonial Zone is full of interesting history. Oldest city in the New World. No one is tearing down Christopher Columbus statues here. If they tried they would be shot on site.

Walking around the first city of the New World and being able to imagine life as it was 500 years ago is such a grand experience. Hotel Billini is an earthly paradise.

The location of the hotel is nice, in the center of colonial zone. So it's very safe and convenient to make a stay. The hotel room is not big but okay if you don't spend too much time in the room. The free breakfast is not too bad. The receptionists are friendly. However, there is only a white sheet as a quilt. It's a bit noisy in the night (downstairs there are shows and crowds every night).

Amazing place with historical views right in the heart of the Historical Colonial Zone, basically in the patio of Christopher Columbus House. The atmosphere was so nice and they have a whole street full of restaurants, think restaurant week all year long, people walking their dogs, kids playing and still So So Romantic and chill with Amazing weather, you guys should visit the place night time and day time. I love it! . The building is a museum and preserves all furniture and rooms from the first trip to America .

Santo Domingo's old city or Ciudad Colonial is one of the biggest attractions in the city. It has a lot of history, very nice restaurants, the oldest and first church in the Americas, Christopher Columbus' Alcázar, or many other places to visit. I highly recommend this area.

Plaza de Espana is the biggest and main square of old town (Zona Colonial) SD. It is set just by the first royal residence (Alcazar) in the Americas. There're several restaurants/bars around it, which are pleasant to refresh with a drink and enjoy the beauty around you.
