What a beautiful park! I’m am so impressed by all of the statues of Dominican heroes and it beautifully ends, Calle Conde (famous street in the Colonial Zone for shopping and eating). Would recommend to anyone on your tour.

Great tall monument from where you have a 360 view overlooking the city. A nice place to visit if you come over Santiago. Full of nice bars and restaurants nearby to enjoy the day.

There was not too much to see, I noticed a lot of homeless people and other guys looking to link up for things that I was not interested in. There was a police presence on the Main Street directing traffic and also writing tickets. The uniform guard made for good pictures to take while I was there on a relaxing hot day. Would I recommend visiting? Sure, it is a place to see in Santo Domingo. Just be mindful of your surroundings and know where you're at and pay attention.

Independance Park is at the entrance to the Old Town. The small plaza in the centre of Santo Domingo can be entered via the Puerte del Conde which is very photogenic. There is several memorial statues to national heroes and seems to always be peaceful. This is definetly a nice area to visit for tourists or just to relax. So when you are visiting the oldest city in the Americas make it one of the places to go to, you will not be disappointed.

There is nothing special at this place. But anyway, if you are walking around these old streets, you can visit it. When you come out the other side of the main entrance, it feels like you are somewhere in the New York Jamaica station)

We spent quite some time in this park, being tired from our trip to the Dominican Republic. I really enjoyed that there are many places to sit and it's a clean, green area which is quite central in the city.

A quiet park in a busy city displaying the independence movement. A lot of concrete and could be cleaner.

Ein sehr schöner Ort zum verweilen. Im Schatten auf einer Bank sitzen und den Straßenmusikern zuhören einfach entspannt sein

When I first came here, I had not thought of Christopher Columbus in ......30 or 40 years. Santo Domingo, and the Dominican Republic has preserved this area incredibly well. All of Americas, North, Central, and South, owe you thanks!

What was once a beautiful corner of the Dominican Republic is now just a run down building situated on Playa Rincon. Food is still served but sadly in an environment littered with garbage. No longer a paradise just another natural environment badly abused by its local residents who are just intent on ripping of anyone who visits.

We like to see some parks where to have a room for a break. This one showed a need for some beautynes treatment, but should be preserved for man as relaxing green ground.

Great place to take photos, people watch and on weekends usually filled with music or activities. After a bit of shopping, great place to relax your feet. Keep watch for the birds if you are seating under any tree

Nice exposition of history. Somehow it needs more shadows and maybe some water to hidrate people and cool the plaza.

    Great for history of DR

The Independence Park is just after the Puerta del Conde old Spanish gate in the very center of SD. DR had a turbulent history having to fight for its freedom several times against both, Spain and Haiti. This park is a tribute to heroes who led the resistance and fought against Haiti.

I came expecting to see something worthwhile. I was extremely disappointed. The entrance is all dark, dingy, dirty and horrific. It maybe nice within. First impressions are lasting impressions. Don't bother.

History buff. Nice place to walk around and learn. Grab a seat and take a break. Because of the walls and plants, much of the traffic noise is lessened.
