This is a must visit when coming to Santo Domingo especially for the first time. It is perfectly situated in the middle of the colonial city on the Plaza de España . With a wonderful view of the Alcanza de Colon. This restaurant has ample outdoor seating and is a hotspot in the evenings. The food is consistently good, and has many many offerings for any pallet to be satisfied.

excellent staff, good food but unfortunately they have a host who is very poorly educated for the position, whispers behind the customers and criticizes the rest of the staff on the customer's side of the table. I think it is in very bad taste that the host of a restaurant with supposed category does this type of things the rest is perfect thank you very much.

Daher 1 Stern Abzug.

Nice little place with great service. Good to sit and watch the world go by whilst enjoying a tasty meal. Inside the restaurant is very nice as well if the weather is too hot outside. Recommended.

Visited here for the 1st time and it was pretty good. Food was good and service was good. Dined outside where the place was cool and chill. You can watch the world go by and chill with your friends.

Basic Alfredo, nothing special. The portion was a little small, the size of my fist. Left a little hungry. Wouldn't go back based upon the food experience as there are multiple other restaurants to try. The waiters were cool and the atmosphere was nice, but such is the entire area.

This place never disappoints. The quality and flavors of everything was spectacular. When you add to that the fact that you are overlooking plaza España, it simply makes the place magical.

very good food. crispy apple was amazing. however, it took them a long time to come to take our order and we felt unattended (probably because we sat indoors and most people sat outside). also, the restaurant was a bit overpriced in my opinion (FYI i live in new york city which is the most overpriced city in the world).

Nice place to sit and enjoy a drink outside where you can enjoy the scenery. Very touristy area and beautiful places to take pictures. We only had drinks here after walking around and visiting local places and the weather was calling for a margarita and Pate Palo did not disappoint!

I would not recommend this place with the staff they have. Most are oldish people, very slow to react. First, I had to go to them to tell them I wanted to order... alarm bells ringing there. We ordered bbq chicken, it was very dry and when we asked for some sauces, 15 mins passed and nothing. I had to ask 3 people and the 3 did nothing. Terrible service. When I got the attention of our original waiter, and asked him why the service was so slow and little reaction came from him, he just shrugged his shoulders and left without answering. Recommendation to the restaurant, get rid of the old people and put younger, more friendlier people who want to work and give good customer service. I will never return to that place. Try one of the neighbouring restaurants.

The food was good, the place is beautiful, the service so so. We had to remind the waiters to bring the things... I'm still waiting for my coffee 😁. It happened with drinks mostly. Aside from that the menus are too big for the table and the info it contains. Is uncomfortable to have them. The restroom is on the 2nd floor. One has to go up and what if is an elder person? It is nice because you feel obligated to take a tour to the restaurant but the stairs are uncomfortable. Loved the food presentation and the way the waiters served the food. Well educated in the restaurant industry. Adding some pics. It was a party of 7, dinner, nice time.

One of the best dining experiences I've had anywhere in the world. I was the first to order the special Taste of Christmas, named "7 países, 7 tesoros", translating to 7 countries, 7 treasures. This menu, a concept on paper, was expertly conjured into reality by its talented chef, Sebastián. Each dish on this menu represents a European country's identity, and all were executed superbly. After each dish, our plates were swiftly taken away and the staff was extremely friendly. I was happy to be able to converse with the chef, who did a masterful job of achieving so much by only using a few ingredients in each dish. Even as a European, I felt myself going to each country as I made my way through the menu. Taking you from a shepherd's hut on an Irish farm to a fine restaurant on the Galican coastline of Spain, the experience of trying the 7 treasures at Pate Palo was truly special. It was an authentic, memorable, and absolutely wonderful experience. Hats off to Sebastián, and don't miss this restaurant if you're anywhere near la Zona Colonial!

I went to this place by accident as it was rainy outside and I had to pick a place to meet up with a friend for food. This place was exceptional and worth 5 stars, I would highly recommend it for lunch or dinner if you are in SD. Food, service and atmosphere all matched my expectation.

Came here for atmosphere and we got it, but the bread they served really hard, almost stale, gave them to the birds on the way out. Also worth noting - - egg plant appetizer/dip only came with 6 tortilla chips. - most of the drinks weren’t available but next door was..

Very cozy and European styled antique restaurant with outdoor as well as indoor seating. Great view to Plaza de España park and the Columbus Alcazar. Live music varied from a small perico ripiao merengue band to guitar players. The restaurant was very clean, food, drinks and appetizers were very good and if it is too hot outside you can come inside which although open, is cooler because of running AC.

BEWARE! Check your bill carefully before paying and signing!! When processing the credit card the waiter added a 15% extra tip without asking, that was in addition to the 10% required by law, so we ended up tipping 25% for average food and service. This has never happened to us in other restaurants in the DR or in other countries for that matter so it was kind of upsetting. I always tip food service workers as I used to work as one myself when I was in school but we felt taken advantage of. We were there for lunch on 8/28/21.

Food is great, although some of the dishes we ordered weren't that great or cold. Nothing compared to what i experienced 5 years ago. Ambience is great, watch out for bees!

Unfriendly, unprofessional, disorganized waiters dressed up as pirates. Food could have been great but came luke warm. Overpriced drinks. Romantic setting with good lounge music.

Place was nice and clean…tables were far enough and food was different but good, really food !! We sat down and 25 minutes later a waitress came to us because we called him, after that the service was good. We ordered a drink and the wrong one was served. I have mix feelings about the restaurant, I would come back for the food and ambience.

Fantastic food! Enjoyed the Skirt Steak so much, I returned a second night! My waiter Samuel was great !! Only disappointment was the eggplant appetizer. It was extremely salty almost to being inedible..

We had a great time at Pat'e Palo, good, clean, relaxing spot for dinner. Fun view I'm the colonial district. Not much of a local food vibe, but welcome options for wary travelers.

Ambiance amazing. By the house of colon. The food was some of the best I’ve had ever, anywhere. And the fact that this place has history of being possibly the oldest tavern in the Americas and founded by a pirate, this is truly a 5 star experience all the way around. Possibly the best restaurant I’ve been to in Santo Domingo.

Good food. Good view. Pirate themed. What else do you need?
