Let me share my experience here. To be fair the amenities are nice gym, pool sauna works okay. However their service is terrible. Start with checkin they send me a room with a very strong smell, smells like stinky feet , overwhelming kind, I request to change a room, initially they said no they can’t make the change, and didn’t offer any alternative just ask me to wait 1h , after 1h I call again still no room available this time they send a maid to spay a huge amount of air fresher wants to cover the smell but it just get worse, finally a manager kind of person came in he checked first and after another 20 mins come up with a plan to a new room and told me the reason for the smell is 3h new paint. Why no one told me that initially?? 2. This probably for the none Spanish speaking people just call the front desk for any request since no one in the room service understands English. After several round of hang up, I finally decided to not using the room service to order anything. At one point They even told me they don’t have any room service! 3. This makes me mad since it’s the basic need people have for a hotel. their heating system is not warm enough it stays at certain temperatures without increasing. ( Settings are correct and there are hot air come out just not enough to heat up the whole room) I caught a cold (probably last night) and prefer a higher temperature. I ask the front desk they told me will send someone up to check and give me a new heater after three round of checking three round of calling the front desk, and every time they promised me to get a new heater , and left then nothing happened. I request to see a manager she just transferred me to a dead line. I called again she said a manger is o her way to my room. I waited another 20mins, a manger called me I told her everything she said we don’t have a heater. Why don’t tell me the first time or just bring some blankets? I had to get up tomorrow at 4 am and wasted 2 hours on these nonsense. At the end I get a new blanket. I gave it 2 stars for resolving the issues at the end. But it shouldn’t need to be this hard .

The hotel is nice but I don’t quite feel safe. A few months ago they stopped doing the room card tap so anyone on the street can follow you up to the room. Also I don’t feel it’s earthquake safe at all. The building it literally crumbling and they kept telling us there was NO damage at all! If you feel the hallway floors are bent it’s becuz they are!

We did not have a good experience at this hotel. We paid extra for a room with a king bed, but upon check-in they didn’t have any available. Then they told us they didn’t have any available for our entire 5-day stay. The air conditioning did not work in our room, so it was stuffy and hot. The water pressure in the shower was a trickle at best. The phone did not work in our room so we could not call the front desk. We did not find the front desk staff to be helpful at all with our concerns. I do think the problem is with this specific hotel and not the chain, as we had a wonderful stay at the Barcelo in San Salvador.

I am giving them 1 star for charging me twice for the same stay due to their system error. I’ve tried on several instances to get refunded and have been routed to other people to no avail. When I checked in, the hotel staff had told me that I had nothing to worry about and that it has been taken care of, yet nothing was ever resolved.

Absolutely AMAZING !!! It blew us away .. the room was so massive !! with a walk-in closet, massive bathroom and shower, vanity, a huge sofa, and a desk with an ergonomic chair and plenty of space. Bed was extremely comfortable and clean, linen was top notch. I have to say housekeeping is the BEST I have ever encountered anywhere, a big thank you to all the team they are amazing. Gorgeous hotel with a jaw dropping beautiful lobby, the entire staff is so polite and patient and kind. Breakfast was delicious, absolutely perfect, the entire team including Jocelyn were unbelievably kind and friendly when we came for breakfast, this place is AMAZING! best hotel in Mexico City !

People at the reception forgot to put a smile on their faces. In a 5 star hotel this is not acceptable. I travelled all over the country and even in the simplest hotels people at the reception are treating guests with more respect and trying to be friendly. Not in Barcelo Reforma where receptionist are snippy. Although I could chose my room I rather will chose another hotel next time, sorry but I like a smile.

Excellent location ! Right in the middle of everything . All the staff were amazing , from reception to the bartenders to the housekeepers! Everything was perfection . Nice gym , bar and pool ! They also have a place inside the hotel were you can get a rapid covid test in case you need to travel back to the USA like I did ! So convenient. Don’t look any further , stay here next time you’re visiting Mexico City !

Excellent service and location. I stayed for 7 days and the great customer service was a constant. The location allows you explore a lot of the museums and other attractions. The breakfast buffet is amazing. There are a ton of good places to eat walking distance from the hotel. Overall a great experience and will be coming back.

Me and my daughter stayed there for a short vacation and we love it. The staff was quite friendly and professional throughout the entire hotel. The location is excellent, close to a lot of points of Interest to visit. The rooms are well equipped and clean. It can't get any better for the price. The Breakfast was priceless. Very nice pla e to stay when visiting Mexico city 👏 👌 😍 Can't wait to book my next adventure and pick this hotel again. I highly recommend it.

Good but certainly improvements needed and be careful which room to take. We stayed at the premium level. We couldn't really figure out what really made these rooms or service "premium". Yes there is a lounge but you can't compare this to any other lounge of a larger hotel chain like IHG or Hilton. There is an hour of free drinks, limited to wine and beer and this is it. Some small snacks like chips . Service is OK and breakfast reasonable but far from superior. Be careful which room to take!! We had a room with interconnecting doors. It sounded like the people next door were literally in the room. Room change didn't come easy... overall service was OK but far from 5*. For 90usd per night I can recommend it.

I stayed here for a long weekend recently and had an average experience, not bad, but certainly not 5 stars. I originally was supposed to fly in on a Friday afternoon so I booked a room for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. However; a few months prior to the trip, the airline changed my flight and I was then scheduled to arrive early Friday morning. I immediately contacted the hotel to see if they offer a day rate or if I need to book another night. It was confirmed that I could book my room for the day and could check in starting at 7 am. Upon arrival at the hotel, the front desk had no records of me booking the room for the extra day and told me I would not be able to check in until 2 pm. I showed them the email confirmations and they told me they would see what they could do. They ended up getting me a room an hour later, which I appreciated, but it was still frustrating considering I was coming off a red eye and eager to get some rest before joining a walking tour that morning. In addition, the only room they had available had 2 small beds rather than 1 large bed and I still had to pay the day rate despite not getting access to the room until later. I was also not informed of the amenities available and would have loved to get a massage or relax at the pool for the hour and a half I waited rather than sit in the lobby twiddling my thumbs (I was also not given any wifi information so I had no access to the Internet). I was in a room on the 6th floor and could hear the music and loud voices coming from the Sonora Grill all night, every night. Since I was not given any info on the restaurants, I thought the breakfast buffet was complimentary and went down 1 morning just to grab a pastry and ended up spending $30 on it. There is a Starbucks in the lobby and I later realized that is where one should go to get a quick bite. I was never greeted when coming in/out and not asked how my stay was when checking out. Again not a bad experience but certainly not 5 stars.

Stayed for 6 nights. Wonderful hotel that has many amenities onsite. The breakfast is delicious and changes everyday--Sunday being the best in my opinion. The staff is attentive and were quick to resolve any issues. We had the pleasure to stay in the presidential suite. The view was great. Overall clean and safe rooms—though they may need an update sooner than later. Try to stay at a higher floor level as the lower level rooms can be noisy due to lobby bar & restaurant. Location-wise, it’s only 10 min from Historic Center. Definitely would stay here again.

I'm from San Francisco, and this hotels architecture reminded me of ones I have seen in my city. I swam in the pool, and it was the warmest pool I have ever been in. They made it 5 stars by giving me white slippers to walk back to my room on the 17 th floor. I ate in the Italian restaurant. I had calamari and a wonderful soup. Next day, the restaurant on the main floor a steakhouse, was very lively. I heard it was someones birthday next to my table so I went over and sang Happy Birthday to him with my traveling buddy. I used the iron in my room. The clothes line in my shower was nice to dry my bathing suit. Room service was fast, when I ordered a glass of milk for my coffee ( for 2 days). I had a great stay, gracias.

The service is horrible. Not deserving of a 5-star rating. Non-accommodative concierge. Not responsive via the phone from the hotel room even after an hour of calling periodically. The room wasn't cleaned everyday. The sink plumbing is clogged. The rooms were cold. The walls are thin that you could hear noises in between rooms and from outside. The staff are not helpful despite being in hospitality. The gym and pool is subpar. I would say worst experience staying at a 5-star hotel.

Fair room. Great location. AC did not work despite many calls for service to the front desk. Discount coupon for in-house Japanese restaurant was not honored. Welcome drink coupon for lobby bar was honored but NOT on the terms explained at check-in. Next time, we will stay in the Hyatt or other Western brands.

My worst hotel stay in Mexico! Most unfriendly and disgruntled team. Not sure why everyone is so unhappy in there! Pray that everything is ok with your booking, they are completely incapable of deviating from the script! Rooms are nice, but you can get the same or better just across the street with a smile 30/40% lower rate!? Unless your employer is paying for it, stay away from this place!

We choose this hotel because we went to celebrate our 25 years of marriage and family living close to Reforma and many attractions to show our children. But on our second day we found a bed bug in our bed, the manager in turn accommodated us in another 2 rooms, we could no longer sleep or enjoy our stay we had to take all our luggage to a laundry so as not to take any bed bugs in our clothes, they told me that they would talk to me by phone or via email but nobody did. I think they had to at least make us a refund .

Love love love this hotel. The rooms are nice, top floors have great views of the city. I recommend paying a bit more to get access to the Premium level where they have 24 hour access to beverages and their own designated area for buffet breakfasting the morning. The restaurant on the bottom floor is AMAZING. I’ve had the breakfast and Mexican food option for dinner. Best hotel in CDMX.

They would exploit you if you are international traveler! Every time we went for breakfast they will try to charge you even if the booking included breakfast. The rooms esp on the west side are extremely warm and the AC doesn’t work. Even if you are staying e for 1 week, the room keys reset every day and going to the front desk every now and then is cumbersome in such a high rise building.

We actually really liked the hotel. Stayed here for 4 nights and it felt safe and our room was nice. The problem is that they charged me an advanced fee for the reservation (half the price of the reservation) then full price when I got there. When I asked the woman at the front desk about this at check out, she couldn’t find my paperwork. Then she found it and even printed a receipt of the transaction and said the refund of the advanced fee was coming. It’s two weeks later and it never did. I emailed the contact email on the website and they never got back to me. *update, took a month but finally got the money back. Weird. *Response to the owner response: I did present the card which I made the 50% payment with. Therefore, your response does not apply or your own policies were not followed. It was a nice hotel, but organized poorly.

It could've been perfect if the cleaning lady HADN'T knocked and let us get our nights sleep (Insomniac) because we paid for late check-in/arrival and they did it TWICE. Also, the food's very expensive yet small...

Excellent. The original couch bed was absolutely terrible but it was immediately switched to a much better bed. The workers are excellent and are extremely polite. Even with my broken Spanish they treated me with fairness. They are great people. I always go with Barcelo because I know I can trust them to make a vacation relaxing and enjoyable.

My wife and I stayed here during a short stay in Mexico City. The hotel was beautiful and was much more than what we paid for. The valet parking was very cheap ($6 a night) and we included the breakfast buffet in our reservation (which I would recommend). The hotel offered four restaurants: Steak House, Japanese, Italian and Taco house. The Steak House was our preferred place to eat dinner and was on of the best restaurants we have even visited. The food was 5 star and the service was just as good. The only negative was you have to pay attention to the dollars to pesos conversion because the food prices are in pesos and you will probably be charged as lower pesos rate for your dollars than expected. There is also some gift shops and a business center in the hotel. They also have a currency exchange near the front desk. However, the exchange rate we received was 16.79 pesos - $1, although the bank rate was 21.69 - $1. Maybe find a legit bank around you location that will give you the exact conversion rate for your U.S. dollars before traveling to Mexico City. Finally, the location of the hotel was right in the downtown historical district just a block from the Mexico Independence monument and a few other historical sites. We actually caught by surprise the "Mexico Independence parade" which crossed right in front of our hotel. The question is, "Would I recommend this hotel?" Ah...HECK YEAH! If we visit Mexico City again, this will be where we will be staying once again.

So... Stayed for 6 nights, hotel is nice and clean, if you are at premium level there are nice breakfest and some other benefits( like clothe cleaning, one item per stay(no matter how nights, you get only one free). There is swiming pool, more suitable for children, because you get only your but covered, swiming pool is maybe 1meter deep( should be 1.30). Oh, and room cleaning, dont be suprised, they are coming afternoon, so, if you or your children are sleeping, no cleaning and if you get some, dont be suprised if under your bed is a puddle.

Would have starred 1 but the rooms are somehow nice. Breakfast is awful and overpriced Coffee is not drinkable. if you ask for a cappuccino you will be extra charged which is just unacceptable for a 5 star hotel The front office manager felt very offended by receiving this complaint instead of just apologizing

I was disappointed that we didn't have a coffee maker that worked. Once they finally brought a working coffee maker, the coffee was weak and horrible tasting. Then, the hair dryer was broken and didn't work. 🙄 The technician had to mount a new one, making us late, and well, invading our room privacy. Overrated, but they know you are trapped because they are in a good location. I don't mind paying for good service, but I whate to be cheated. Fiesta Americana will be our next choice, across the street.

We just spent 5 days at the hotel. One of the best experiences in Mexico City hotels. The attention and care are great. Specially during Covid. The rooms are amazing, if you can spend a little bit more and book a suite with city view, it’s totally worth it. The breakfast is amazing and the pool is a great add on when traveling with Kids. Great restaurants and all tourist attractions are around the area. The travel agency provides great tours for really great prices.

Came to this 5* hotel with expectations of receiving the treatment expected of a luxury hotel. Well, the hotel is nice the lobby is beautiful and has restaurant options, the rooms are spacious and clean but no new appliances like in other luxury hotels in Mexico City of a similar price range. Things I didn’t like: 1) when I first called the front desk to ask if we could get complementary waters, they said yes, as many as we needed during our stay. Next day when we called to ask for another couple of bottles, they said it’s only one per day which was contradictory. 2) we came to the hotel on the second day and realized we had no towels in the bathroom, not even hand towels. We called 3x to finally get the towels 30 min later. On the 3rd day, we got back to the room and again, NO TOWELS. We went to the front desk and they took note of it in their system, saying we will not have an issue for the remainder of our stay. After 4 hours we still didn’t have towels! We called 3 times asking for them to please send the towels and they were annoyed by our calls. I mean, seems like a minimum to me to have bathroom towels in a 5* hotel… 3) several times we called for waters and shower gel > they said they were sending them to our room and NOTHING. 4) please note the hotel doesn’t have conditioner nor moisturizer, so come prepared for that! (Again, something I had never encountered in a luxury hotel). Overall disappointed by our stay here and just wanted to share this so others can know what to expect. Very surprised by all the positive reviews, maybe we actually got unlucky with the service.

Very affordable and in a good location of the city. The breakfast is good and has many options. The rooms are also very spacious. Only feedback is that the service is a bit weird here. They make you sign every free breakfast meal. They also don’t follow up on laundry service.

Excellent hotel from entering the lobby to the room. The best things are the rooms. They are spacious and comfortable and designed well to maximize how you feel in the room. Besides being clean and having food services the value is very good for the price. The location is great as well since most things are in a “L” between the zocalo and then over to Reforma and to the park.

Stayed three nights in June 2022 for vacation. Excellent location, very central. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Great breakfast buffet and premium lounge. Rooms are spacious and even though they did not have designated accessibility rooms, it still worked out as the staff did their very best to accommodate the special needs (such a bringing a shower chair). Unfortunately our first room had bed bugs. However, I still gave this hotel 4 stars as the staff handled this issue in a very appropriate manner and upgraded us to a suite for free. So all in all an excellent service and staff experience from which many hotels in the USA could learn in terms of customer friendliness and consideration.

Great location and spacious rooms at a very reasonable price, but the service is appalling. I’ve stayed there three times. Each time the check in—Despite there being no line to speak of—took at least 10 minutes. The bartenders—when you can find them!—are surly. Little things are also always off in the rooms as well. No trash cans , no wash cloths, just random. Clearly badly managed. Will never go back. Would rather pay more for better service.

I was happy with the location of this hotel and the beautiful amenities. I did not like that I stayed 7 nights and I kept having to call them for toilet paper as they did not clean my room often. I had asked for every other day cleaning service and I think they only cleaned it once or twice. Also the staff wasn’t very friendly. And the floor we stayed on was very loud and the doors slammed all night long. I would give it a 3/5

Amazing!! The stay was incredible, the hotel is a dream, we love the experience and hope to return! the food, the room services, the cleaning, the staff, the location, the sound of the piano, everything absolutely everything was perfect! I recommend it 100% thank you for the best experience

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!! that's the main seller point of this hotel. Also, the breakfast was amazing and great variety of items. The room is decent size and it's worth staying on the premium floor since the noise of the street and restaurants below can get loud. Also, there is a girl that plays the piano in the lobby during the night and she is fantastic! However, the customer service is still lacking attentive and assertive service. I originally booked a room for 3 adults and the reservation showed as 2 adults and ended up paying for this. My advice to you is to call beforehand and make sure they have the same info as you have in your email confirmation because if you don't then they will make you pay additional and blame the issue on a technical error.

I stayed there for one night and had a nice and comfortable room. Really clean, friendly staff and really nice breakfast. Hotel is in a good area of the town with a lot of things to see around. The staff is really friendly and helpful. It was a bit noisy in the evening (my room was on a lower floor) but at night it was quiet. I enjoyed my stay and would choose the hotel again.

Very large hotel (>15 stories), the elevators are a bottleneck (only 4 with only 3 in operation during our stay lead to 15 mins waiting times). Rooms are clean and cozy, but walls are very thin so you might hear medium to loud neighbours very easily. Centrally located, staff is semi-professional.

Nice city hotel, very conveniently located close to everywhere, even to the legal pot smoking park next to the Parliament building. The service is friendly. There is good choice of restaurants including steak and sushi at the hotel. The rooms are modern and clean but needs maybe here and there some renewal. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a gift shop as well as exchange house but the rates are not favorable so would recommend you to change money outside. There is a pool and spa as well. The music in the lobby gets into the rooms, though. All in all conveniently located hotel and not the most expensive.

Nice, well-located hotel with very attentive staff and good views of the city. The price is good value also. One thing that could be improved is that the cleaning staff often knock on the door or open it to ask if you want the room cleaned at around 9am, which is needlessly early! Aside from that, would fully recommend

We made a mistake on our reservation and we just wanted to change the date and they wouldn’t help us without charging us 100% of the room plus the full cost of a new room for the new date. I understand that there are policies but they need to be more understanding when people make mistakes. You can tell it’s a heartless company and all they care about is the money. We will never stay here.

This is my first night staying at this hotel and I'm not impressed. The customer service by the front desk and bar staff has been just okay. The room is very small and has this weird smell, like mold. I really wish I had kept my original reservation at another hotel not that far from here.

After staying at a few Barceló hotels, I have to say this was my worst experience. First night we had to change rooms from the smell of smoke coming from Sonora Grill inside the hotel. One reason we decided to stay here was for the indoor pool sauna and steam room. The pool was great but the sauna or steam room were out of order for 5 days. The day that we tried it. It was cold and we asked to return at a scheduled time so it would be up to speed. When we returned it was the same. Big disappointment. Also the towels smell like diesel fuel. No thanks. Such a nice looking hotel to function so badly.

The staff was very polite and helpful. There is often live violinists and pianists in the lobby. The views of Mexico City from the rooms is wonderful. All around an enjoyable experience.

Great location, awesome service, clean, updated, bartenders tentative. Beware with the pool, tile floor is slippery. Husband had a bad fall getting into the pool because the step is tile and slippery, even though he was being careful.

A comfortable hotel with spacious rooms, great food options, and closeness to activities. My room was a suite, and had a sitting room, bedroom, desk, and very large bathroom. I didn’t hear any noises minus a screaming kid on my last night. If you have access to the premium level lounge, skip it for breakfast and go to the main breakfast buffet in the ground floor. The food in the premium lounge was a huge letdown, and mostly just local traditional cuisine and not a ton of options. The regular breakfast buffet was great, with so many more options for all cultures and visitors. Staff for the most part can speak some English, and I was able to check in and get food without issue.
