Went here on a Friday night with some friends after a salsa class together. This was basically a club playing salsa music, so I liked that I could practice my new moves even further. Bartenders were fast. I liked their mezcal shot. Note that there is a cash cover of 120 pesos for everyone.

I was happy that I checked out this place. I went relatively early at around 9:30 PM, but already all the seats were taken and most of the tables are for reserved only. So I got a little seat upstairs. The live band comes on at 11 PM. As soon as the band came on, everybody started dancing. The crowd really shows up when the band starts playing. I went on a Friday evening, and it did get very crowded. The good news is that upstairs there is a little bit more space to breathe. People are friendly, and the staff is nice. For the serious Salsera or Salsero out there, I see a lot of Cuban style dancing. Dancers are mostly chill and are just there to have a good time. This club plays pure salsa only. There is no other Latin music such as Bachata’s or merengue. It’s just salsa. There is a cover to go in, and you’re expected to buy at least one drink. It’s pretty standard club practice. The bouncers also searched us with the bags, and our coats. But they did have a female security for us women. Overall, I had a great time. I left before midnight, which is very early on a Friday night. But I wanted to make sure that I could get an Uber home before everybody else goes homes. Plus it got a little too crowded for me to feel comfortable. This is a great spot in Mexico City. I do recommend it.

MamáRumba Is a great place to go salsa dancing. This place particularly has Cuban salsa which is different to other Salsa styles like Puerto Rican or NY. There is actual no dancefloor. People dance in the aisles or between tables. There is dancing Thrusday through Saturday. Saturday dance on March 2018 was $120 pesos. There is a live band but it starts playing late. Around 2300 or later. It may be too loud for some people. Usually there is a group dance performance. I have seen impersonation performances as well. I often see Asian and American people going to this place. This place is usually crowded and if you want a table better make a reservation. I recommend MamaRumba.

Foreigners are not welcome here. They do a well known scam, you will ask for something from the menu, enjoy your night, and then at the end, they will try to charge you more for the items you asked for. for example if you order a bottle of tequila at $1450 pesos, they will bring you a bottle that costs $2500. Although this is their mistake you will be left on the hook to pay and they will intimidate you and surround you with 3-4 large servers until you pay. Unfortunately this happens to many foreigners and you are better off not going. it is a shame, because otherwise it is a great place, but it is simply not worth the risk.

It gets really complicated to dance as it gets really crowded. Thursday at 9pm you can attend the salsa class (divided by beginners and advanced). Thursday is the best day to go for a dance. Although it gets crowded I recommend to have the experience if you are a foreigner.

SCAM. Do not spend you money here. I’ve been to plenty of clubs and they charged me to even enter. There wasn’t a damn place to sit because every table was reserved. There wasn’t place to dance. The drinks were incredibly expensive. There was no live music. The bathrooms were revolting. I do not recommend this place. There are better Cuban clubs that I’ve been to.

Me and my gf went here on a Saturday night. Not too much of a wait at the door. They have free re entry if you need to smoke or make a call. It does get packed so you will be waiting at the bar for a drink. The live band is great and makes the music pop. It gets crowded but there are pockets of space you can move to if you want more space to dance. Great salsa spot with good music and a fun vibe. Recommend this place for sure.

Good live music and everyone was dancing. They have and upstairs and downstairs as well as an area in the back so it's very spacious but it does get super packed. The service was very quick and the drinks were good.

Authentic and true to its great mojitos and fantastic live music. It has not changed in decades. Like a trip to Cuba, it is chaotic, fun, unexpected and juicy.

Servers actively look for ways to scam tourists. Force you to pay for spilt drinks, etc. on top of the cover charge to get in. My coat brushed an empty glass off the edge of an empty table. Glass didn’t break, but did spill ice all over my shoes. I was hounded down by a pack of servers demanding I pay $250 pesos for the spilt glass. The person whose drink it had been had clearly left. Really rude, unethical, and hostile tactics. Poor taste. Foreigners beware.

What an absolute blast! $60 per person admission. Saturdays are packed and fun. Sundays are more mellow. 💃 Plus best live music in town. Saturdays are about packed to capacity, band starts at about 11pm. Tons of fun and hardly enough space to dance - but super fun. Sundays starts a lot earlier, 6pm. Dance students try out their skills in the earlier part of the set but plenty of room to move throughout the evening.

It's a kind of scam, they make you pay 120 pesos at the entrance, when you get in, the most of tables are free but with a 'reserved' mention, so you cannot sit nowhere, the waiters just tell you ' sorry for you'...

If you are in Mexico for a short visit this is a good place, it’s full of both locals and tourists/ expats. You pay cover at the door and the later you get there the longer the line, its NOT a cocktail place better stick to basics or a mojito. what is cool is if you are new to salsa and want to learn you will probably get a chance to do so and bonus points for the live band that starts around midnight.

If you come to Roma, it doesn't matter if you like salsa music; it doesn't matter if you like live music; it doesn't matter if you like dancing. This place is a MUST visit! Good vibes, music, and people, everything! Awesome place! Highly recommend!

Went on a Thursday night excellent atmosphere, good DJ and the band was excellent. 100 pesos to enter. It gets crowded when the band starts not a lot of room down stairs but you can also dance upstairs. They only play Cuban salsa that’s it, no bachata, no Cumbria, no Puerto Rican salsa, NADA. Lots of guys so ladies should have a good time. Some good dancers but most are at average level.

If you want to learn how to dance, Wednesday's and Thursday's you can find salsa classes at 9pm. Really good and with the bar open so you can buy as many mojito's as you need.

Had an OK time dancing, but the hyper-masculine bouncer was unnecessarily rude and horrible to communicate with. It was very clear he had some negative biases towards Anglophones, and treated myself and my boyfriend with complete disrespect. If he wasn't there, would have been a decent time!

Good band but didn’t play for long between breaks. Lots of tourists, ok class for beginners, but looked like locals mainly go to pull a tourist

Love this place, first time I came here was 2013 during my first visit to Mexico City. I stop by for a drink and listening to good salsa everytime I visit.

Don’t come if you’re white unless you are prepared to get ripped off. Ordered 2 tequila shots (in Spanish, of course not with a good accent) but they charged us the most expensive tequila they had on the menu. Wasn’t what we asked for. Paid $30 (USD) for 2 shots and they added a 20% tip without asking. Meanwhile my Mexican friend ordered 2 shots. Paid $7 USD. Speak fluent Spanish or get ready to get ripped off.

Fun place for a night out. Salsa lessons and great live music. Gets quite busy so arrive early if you want seating. Many tables were reserved but we were able to find a spot upstairs. $100 peso cover fee. Service was good despite how busy it was. Band was excellent.

Don’t waste your time here. Just went last night and the service is horrible. The security guards are really nasty and the waiters never come around. It’s also a tourist trap, waste of time.. You have to wait a long time to get any service. Don’t waste your money or time here.

We had such a good time learning in the beginning and dancing throughout the night. Right when we got there they asked for our drink orders and we didn’t have to wait long to get them. The staff was so kind and the teachers even introduced themselves to us and danced with us (even though we weren’t good haha). It was a great place to meet other foreigners and even locals!! The cover charge + drinks made it out to be about $200 pesos p/p. There’s not many places to sit but that’s usually not a problem since you’re there to dance not just watch.

We went here on a Friday night and it was really crowded after 11pm. The band starts playing at 11 but it's a good idea to get there a bit earlier. Even after reservations we were not given great seats and were provided with bar stools to sit on and no table. Another point of contention was whether the $120 per person is a cover charge or entry. For us it was taken as an entry charge. Overall a fun experience with some great music!
