Spent a week in this hotel and loved it. Such a fun hotel in a great location. One caution: I had a room facing an interior courtyard. This was great for me, since it was much quieter than a room facing the surrounding busy area would have been, but didn't feel as sunny and spacious as an exterior room would have. The area is a busy area full of people which is fun, and I personally would stay here again in the same room, but some people might prefer something different.

Though I wasn't a guest at the hotel, I visited it for the day, as it has a small museum. It was truly a great experience as it feels as though one was travelling back in time. Amazing places to walk around, many antiques all over the place to see and enjoy. The restaurant is perfect for a quick bite. I would recommend it to anyone who is passionate about the 1910's-1920's.

A wonderful historic hotel in the heart of Zone Rosa. Old school professional staff took care of my every need. The pleasant breakfast room was a highlight as well as the historic decor. Every staff member was ready to take care of anything I wanted. I'll go back.

Very nice historic hotel. Rooms are historic but still nice and clean. I switched rooms due to not having a view. They immediately accommodated my request for a different room. The location is perfect for restaurants and bars. The hotel restaurant is quiet but the food was very good. The location is taxi distance to many attractions.

Awesome place! It gets you back in time. The works of art are amazing. You'll feel in another era. There's a guide that tours you around. Take it, it's a charming walk. I can only imagine staying the night here is magical.

This hotel has an impressive ground floor with a beautiful arrival hall, with some outstanding old style bookshelves and chandelier, as well as a lovely bright breakfast indoor garden. The rooms are rather old but nevertheless clean, although quite noisy in the night because of the clubs nearby. The staff is also nice and helpful and in a great area very close to the thick of the party. Overall the hotel is nice to stay in although probably too expensive for what it offers in its rooms.

I always enjoy staying. It is in an excellent location to walk to restaurants and shops. There are Street vendors within a block with interesting items. I have walked to local restaurants and shopping even at night and the area feels very safe.

Nice hotel, You can tell it has a classic look as the hotel has a lot of history. Staff are very nice and always happy to help. Bathrooms are a bit outdated and the showers are in need for a change as the water sprays outside the bath and onto the floor

Was at the Hotel during in F1 weekend, paid for a JR suite. There was nothing about the room that said suite. Not even a couch. Very small room very small bathroom. The hotel also took the opportunity to triple their normal rate for this weekend. The room was not prepared for guests when we arrived that required multiple calls room service with long waits for items that should have been there when we arrived The common areas are very spectacular and charming. The common area service was less than common ...45 min wait at the bar for a single drink after three requests... almost forgivable if busy... but there were only three tables at 4pm. Additional 30min wait for bill after requesting twice. I stayed here because I love historical old hotels, unfortunately the service and complete lack of attention to detail will have me staying elsewhere next year.

The hotel is nice and a big part of the history in Mexico ok? However the food is not worth it for the price since there’s anything extraordinary besides the personal is rude and with a bad behavior making you feel exclude if they see you with non brand clothes even if you have money to afford any expenses in your visit or staying. I won’t coming back to this hotel as a guest or visitor, and if you are planning to come make sure you are a bluffer with money and make sure to show your Rolex in the entrance first otherwise they won’t allow you to use anything.

I chose this hotel due to the decor and the proximity to the US Embassy. I traveled with my mom and infant daughter. The hotel itself is beautiful, clean, and very well located. We really enjoyed the rooms and the decor. Food was also good. The biggest complaint is the staff. They were highly unfriendly towards us. We were never greeted when entering the hotel and I asked for a crib that was never delivered. Mind you, my baby never cried or was any trouble. We also ordered room service and our food took over and hour to come and only came because I called back to see what was taking so long. Then the food was obviously cold. Customer service is a huge part of any hotel or dining experience and while we really loved the space we would not book here again.

Make sure to use HᴏtelDully. ᴄᴏm when booking a stay. This web site will compare countless booking websites and normally will have prices much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later! This hotel is one of the most well known in this area. I have been coming here for a very long time. If you decide to stay here you will love it I'm sure! This hotel is very beautiful and spacious, it is also quite luxurious and the price seems quite reasonable to me since it includes breakfast, among other things, it is for the whole family. The rooms are spacious and have a capacity of up to 4 people or more. In addition, the staff treats you in the best way!!!

This is a wonderful hotel. It is full of history and character. The staff is very good. I really enjoyed all the displays in the lobby and the beautiful decor. The hotel opened around the turn of the century and they have managed to keep the history and feeling of the hotel while completely updating it for the modern life style. My room was spacious and comfortable.

Overall, a nice place in Zona Rosa, dating from 1907. Old World charm and elegance. Lobby decor reminds me of a Henry James novel. Big comfortable bed and pillows. Fantastic water pressure. Ample breakfast is included; friendly staff. Odd: guests have to leave their ID at the desk until they leave, I guess for COVID reasons. Would stay here again.

Pros: Location of the hotel is amazing, walking distance to most places that we wanted to go to. People are really nice and helpful. The hotel is beautiful and historic and looks luxury. Cons: The wifi is horrible, there were multiple options provided, and each rarely worked. You can barely check your email. The pillows were really uncomfortable and lumpy. The mattresses aren't the most comfortable either.

Cleaning staff is amazing, Wait staff is amazing, Absolutely everyone that works here is kind and incredibly professional except the waiters at the restaurant inside the hotel, not the street facing one. We stayed for 5 nights, despite what other reviews claim regarding the amenities we found them to be perfectly fine though the wifi left much to be desired. But no issues aside from that Ordered coffee with milk 3 times from the same person. On the third time he finally brought only coffee and immediately ran off, we locked eyes with him multiple times to order food and we literally laughed when he doubled back to serve someone else. We had to ask the manager for milk, once he saw us call him over he actually came to take our food order but this was almost 20 minutes in. For only coffee and milk. We asked for the check when he finally came over and he laughed saying "oh you didn't like the service?". We were polite, we had no issue with anyone else there, they weren't busy, this server for whatever reason just did not want to serve us.

Amazing location Super sweet and kind staff The rooms are extremely clean and cozy Breakfast was delicious Great checkout time of 1 pm Extremely safe Excellent room service The beds are firm and nice. We had no problem sleeping. Calm surroundings. We never had noise issues. The water pressure is perfect. No complaints. The rooms are pretty spacious and lovely. I would love to stay here again. In fact, I missed the hotel after coming back from CDMX. The hotel looks much better than its pictures. The photos are not doing justice to it. I would not book any other hotel when I come to CDMX again.

The room is beautiful. The first 2 bottles of water are free, and then they charge $20 pesos each bottle after. The toilet paper is scented. This is very cheap. Of note, the shower curtain is not plastic, so water leaks on the floor. We just kept a towel down during our visit, and it was fine. My only complaint is that the matresses are very uncomfortable. The staff are very helpful. There is a bar and two restaurants. I think they have the cheapest room service for a hotel. You can walk across the street and have access to three restaurants.

Everything here blew us away. The neighborhood is lively and teeming with talented chefs, the service was warm and detail-oriented, and the hotel is beautiful and well-equipped. Do yourself a favor and order some room service.

This is a must-stay hotel if you are traveling to Mexico City. It was stunning, central to so many restaurants and night life, in a safe, cool neighborhood and home to the grooviest bar. Plus, it wasn't even expensive. The highpoint in lodging for our trip was Geneve.

  • 5/5 April S. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing! I love how historic the hotel is, and it was everything I was expecting. It's of course vintage, so there are things you get with a vintage hotel. For example, older appliances and quirky things like the coffee maker plug not reaching or the TV not connecting to Wi-Fi, but those are things I didn't care for when I booked. The room service was perfect, the food was delicious, and the hotel tour was so much fun! I will definitely be back.

Nice old hotel, a bit worn, a bit of a museum. Many interesting photograph worthy objects and settings. I saw people not staying at the hotel come in to take selfies. Convenient location walking distance from many restaurants. Yes, I'd stay here again.

This is a favorite in México City. The concierge service is very good and helpful. The rest of the staff was good to us too. The historical displays are interesting, and I'll be coming home to Geneve as soon as I can.

I am really impress by this hotel! The staff is very professional, the location was super convenient because you can walk and move around but at the same time is a quiet street. The building is a true gem. I will stay there every time I visit the city

Good- Room was quiet. Service folks were helpful Taking print outs was easy Bad- Bed was on wheels and would shake quite a bit when there was traffic on the road. Sometimes so much that it made me think there was an earthquake. Front desk people should learn to communicate better in English. I requested for my free room service per day at a certain time , what I got was a room service after two similar phone calls each of them asking what I need. I expected my free daily room service to include two bottles of water, but in one of these calls, they told me that the water was not free. Later the service folks told me that the front desk people had got it wrong. Water was free for up to two water bottles for each daily service.

Staff are excellent. Service is fantastic. Rooms are lovely with very comfortable beds and pillows. I had some challenges with water appearing near toilet after showers. It came up from drain close to the toilet. Hotel needs some plumbing work. I was moved to a new room when this water issue kept occurring. Staff was accommodating.

I stayed over the Day of the Dead celebrations. The hotel is located really close to the celebrations. The lobby is a museum and it has this lovely historical feel. However, my room was awful. Three outlets, two in the bathroom and only one in the room. The room was dark and loud. Service was good in the Spa. The hotel bar service needs improvement. Breakfast was great, the breakfast hostess service was awful. The waiters where wonderful. I was hung up on by housekeeping and room service. Someone took my do not disturb sign and I couldn't get another one from housekeeping. I called and the person hung up the phone. I called room service was something to eat late at night (24/7 room service) and was hung up on. Overall, I would not recommend staying at Hotel Geneve

The reason I didn’t give it 4 stars is because there were some basic items in the hotel room missing. There were 2 beds but only 1 small side table between whereas there was plenty of room on either side of the bed for another side table. Outlets were hard to get access. No luggage stands. No coat rack even though plenty of room. Great location. Diaz Cafe downstairs is great food. Parking in lot right next door is included in hotel stay. No valet needed (get ticket validated or stamped by receptionist upon each pick-up).

Hotel looks impressive in the pictures but it lacked a lot considering it was a 5 star. We decided to book because it had an old school luxury feel but everything felt like it was too outdated and nothing has been renovated so it felt overused and old. We have stayed in old luxury style hotels before but you can tell when it’s been renovated or updated. The room was badly lit so felt dark and dingy. The bathroom was fine but old so tiles a bit broken and sealant could be updated. Shower gel etc very basic. The cup and plate was dirty at the tea station. Bed was comfy but pillows so small in comparison. Breakfast was not that great either unfortunately. The napkin was dirty, the trays for food were awkward, with the food covered in clingfilm and plastic cover which makes it so difficult to spoon food onto the plate. It would be easier if they just updated this with ones that keep the food warm constantly. Hot food was overcooked and no one was by the egg stand to cook it fresh. The fruit was fine and cold section fine! What we did enjoy was the character of the lobby and museum style. It was great to read about the hotels past and the staff were friendly and attentive. Overall we were lucky that it was only a one night stay. I think I would have left if we had to stayed longer. I think with a bit of renovation and a few modern updates within the style of the hotel would make this a much better stay. Those small touches would totally improve overall experience. This felt like a once groundbreaking luxurious hotel still living on past glory.

The lobby and public areas are beautiful, like stepping into a classic movie set of a grand hotel. They have numerous displays of historical artifacts like visiting dignitary profiles, clothes and shoes throughout history and other fun & interesting ephemera. The restaurants have a terrific old-world vibe with solid service provided. The rooms do feel a little outdated and in need of some updates but this is outweighed by the feeling of checking into a special hotel. They don't make them like this anymore.

The his place looks nothing like in the pictures. I am not the type of person to give bad reviews I always find the silver lining but the room was terrible. Let’s begin with the fact that we reserved a room with a king bed weeks in advance. They put us in a room with two full size beds and my fiancé is 6’4! They didn’t bother communicating this with us in advance nor when we arrived. They just gave us a room and sent someone to take us up. We had the bell hopper call downstairs to let them know we are celebrating a special occasion, he’s too tall to fit in one bed and we weren’t about to sleep in separate beds bc we are celebrating a special occasion. They kept telling us they had no rooms with long beds so we proceeded to ask to go somewhere else them well they said they’ll have a room w a king bed ready in 15 mins. Yeah where was this room when we arrived. The sweet man who took our luggage was amazing but the room is terrible. The shower leaks and completely wet the entire restroom floor even with the shower curtains! The AC fan was loud and annoying. I understand it’s a vintage hotel but we have been to vintage hotels with slight upgrades such as a shower that doesn’t wet an entire restroom floor. This place was a nightmare and not because it’s haunted simply bc you’ll fear slipping and hurting yourself out of the shower. We were only staying for 1 night we trusted the reviews but honestly better off staying in Polanco the hotels are priced the same and they’re more habitable. The idea of a beautiful historic hotel is great but not when the amenities in the room are beyond outdated. This is probably my first ever bad review I’ve ever given only bc of the lack of communication we were expecting what we saw in pictures. I didn’t take pictures bc I don’t ever want to remember this place

The hotel is stunning, and its location is excellent, being within walking distance to the US Embassy. Staying at this hotel made us feel like we were in the grandeur of the Titanic. The rooms are spacious, and we were delighted to find that they have bathtubs.

Dropped in for drinks with a friend who had lived just a few doors down some 60 years ago and who was kind enough to share some of her experiences in and around this iconic hotel. The Geneve is a real treasure for all who are lucky enough to experience its beauty and the kindness of its superb staff.

I’ve walked past this hotel a hundred times and never went in. Big mistake. Just spent a night in a junior suite (huge room, monogrammed robes, well equipped on the 4th floor) and it was fantastic. Great price on Booking.com including breakfast. The lobby and public spaces are super interesting and very ornate. The hotel doubles as a “Museum” of sorts with tons of interesting memorabilia. Lots of places to sit and read a book or enjoy a cocktail. I wandered around for an hour discovering new things. The Phone Bar off the main lobby serves decent cocktails. The included breakfast was very good and the restaurant is quite lovely. This is not a trendy hotel, but the old world charm and overall ambience and value has those places beat by a mile.

Nice cost/benefit relation, 1900's classic hotel with awesome lobby for taking pictures, got some nice antiques on display too. Location could not be better for tourists, you can walk everywhere from the hotel.

  • 3/5 Patrick W. 2 years ago on Google
Not the greatest hotel experience. Building is nice and the common spaces are neat if you like historic hotels but the rooms leaves a lot to be desired. The rooms are large but very outdated. No smart tv services, no USB plugs, there is an old bathtub shower with a very old barely working head. I called 3 times and waited an hour to have my mini bar unlocked (not sure why it was locked to begin with) and no one ever came. Food was pretty good and the bistro was a really cool space to sit in in the morning. Could be an amazing hotel if they updated the rooms to just be nice instead of poorly imitating 18th century furniture and feel and made sure they're responding to requests they say they will.

Visited because our friends who stayed here last month recommended the restaurant. However, once we stated we were not guests at the hotel the Host staff was rude and made us wait for a table despite having only three of them taken when we arrived. The servers captain was equally unpleasant and the service slow. The food was mediocre in quality and the a la carte menú very limited. Definitely not going back and will not recommend to anyone of our friends visiting CDMX.

Beautiful hotel. Staff is friendly and bilingual. The wifi in the room is terrible for remote working or even just daily use. It's better to go to a cafe or work in their lobby/ library. Loved listening to the birds sing during breakfast.

Payed a value for money amount per night. Interesting hotel with a classic vibe. Spacious rooms, located in a nice neighbourhood in Zona Rosa. Comfortable beds, a bit outdated room in general. All in all it’s good if you find it in a good price. Medium breakfast, a few variety in the buffet

I really enjoyed my 6 day stay here at the Hotel Geneve, everything was clean and tidy in our room. Service at the front - the greeters, receptionist and everyone in between were very helpful. They were filming what looked to be a Movie on Jul 12 or 13 in the main lobby, and why wouldn't they the inside of this place holds so much history! The bistro inside the hotel was ok, but we did enjoy our breakfast there. They also have available taxis there, cost us $240 pesos from the Hotel to the Airport so that was great too! You'll enjoy your stay here... My wife and toddler did, and we look forward to coming back next year.

I really liked this hotel. The lobby is gorgeous and the staff is very nice. Most of them speak some English as well which is great. Housekeeping was also good. They lose a star for the room service food which was honestly really bad. But I would still definitely stay here again.

Loved the place and location. The hotel is spectacular. The people were amazing. The room was very big but outdated.... that was ok too. The only complaint we had was the air conditioning in the room was horrible. They checked it and told us it was working fine. Every night we had to open the windows to stay a little cool because we were drenched in sweat but the night club music and high traffic area made it impossible to get a good night sleep.

We stayed for 7 days, breakfast included. A beautiful historical place, great staff, the breakfast was not bad, the room was beautiful and super comfortable bed, everything was great. The area is not very family friendly as there are some weird shops in the area, but overall safe. My favorite part of the hotel was the artifacts of well known guest who stayed there such as: Marlon Brando, Winston Churchill and Porfirio Diaz.

A proper hotel. Amazing decor (its a museum afterall) The rooms are huge! Great shower, bathroom, windows, staff, bar and restaurant. I am staying here every chance I get. Perfect location, a 10 min walk from everything I wanted in Mexico city, and in the middle of fun itself.

Did not stay here but lobby bar: Phone bar was great. Lobby has many artifacts and paintings of history to look at. Definitely check it out. I may stay here next. (Hey! Geneve offer me something!) Anyway. Everything in the lobby looked historically great. I only wonder what the rooms look like.

  • 5/5 David Q. 1 year ago on Google
We picked Geneve on the recommendation of a friend, and we were not disappointed. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms large, and the hotel staff were extremely helpful. The hotel is historic, so the minor imperfections with rooms is part of the charm in my opinion. The concierge helped us arrange a couple of tours and provide some additional guidance. He was even able to help us join a tour last minute when we failed to plan ahead. One caveat I should add, which is not the hotel's fault, is that there are a couple of adult-oriented retail stores on the surrounding blocks. To be clear, I never felt unsafe or uncomfortable walking through the neighborhood, even after dark. It might raise some questions if you have little ones, but the stores are avoidable, so it's not a significant issue in my opinion. I highly recommend staying at Geneve, and we'll be back next time we visit Mexico City.

Nice looking hotel. Alot outdated as far as rooms and lack of options for handicapped people. We would not have stayed here if we knew it had no ramps. Even the restaurant has too many steps. The noise outside our room was crazy until 3 am

This is a well located hotel. We've had an okay stay. The hotel could use a renovation. During the three days that we stayed, we dealed with a broken down toilet and a leaking airco. Breakfast was quite mediocre and it was a bit strange that staff actively asked the people for tips. It is clear that once this was a hotel with glory, but today it has degraded. We paid a low price, since we booked last minute. We would be very unhappy if we would have paid the normal price.

Worth the value, I was expecting something a little more elegant. The staff are in uniforms and nice but didn't greet me upon arrival. I carried my own bags. The front desk didn't acknowledge my long stay (10 nights) with "welcome, we are glad you selected the Hotel Geneve for your visit" or at check out "Thank you for your stay with us, we enjoyed have you with us". That was disappointing. When the staff was approached with a question they were helpful, but they were not forthcoming.

The staff are awesome, and the lobby is very nice. The location in Mexico city is very good for everything you'd want to do. The only down side is the rooms are somewhat dated and not what I expected from a 5 star hotel. Shout out to the concierge Samantha, she totally deserves a raise
