There are shops all around the square and a pretty church not far away, and lots of places for lunch or a coffee. The goods can be quite pricey, but there is some high-quality stuff worth buying here. I particularly liked a shop just off the main square that had dia de los muertos (day of the dead) stuff.

I stayed in the neighborhood on my visit, and this market was definitely a highlight of the area. Most of the México City markets recommended online are very low quality yet cheap. I found the 2nd floor of the Downtown Mexico Hotel to have the best bang for buck in terms of quality and pricing. Bazaar Saturday is better to skip going inside and support the sidewalk vendors that have more unique pieces.
