Dined in at Vari today. I was pleasantly greeted. Host (didn’t get her name) was very patient as I reviewed the menu and was undecided as there were so many great choices. Decided on fried pork chops dinner. I had 3 sides - greens, spaghetti, and Mac and cheese. Everything was hot and fresh. I topped it off with a large cup of kook-aid. (Even took a cup to go). Friendly atmosphere. I will definitely come back. The drive from Oswego was worth it.

Pricillas down the street was wack so we google something else near by and was blessed to find this place. This food reminded me of home, it was plentiful, fresh and delicious. Our young man waiter was very attentive and sweet so of course the service was awesome. I enjoyed my time and was happy to spend my mans money at this facility. Lol. Great job Vari"s 👏 we will be back.

In search of soul food restaurants on the Westside of Chicago (suburbs) that is consistently good. Stumbled onto Vari's which owner says has been there for 9 month. It's carry-out and dine-in with decent tables and chairs after ordering at the counter. I ordered the catfish which was seasoned and fried to perfection. Nice thick, large pieces. Sides were spaghetti with meat sauce (prefer all together), and Mac&chez and corn muffin. Sides were small, altho, tasty. I also ordered fried rib tips which I was a pleasant surprise. Tips were very good (pic below) and I'd definitely reorder. Overall, the food is good, may be a bit pricey compared to similar restaurants, but it's good to have a decent soul food place on the west side of the city. I recommend trying them out. I don't know any place with fried rib tips so that's an advantage.

Wow wow wow!!!! When I tell you this food is amazing!!! 🤤🤤 I had the taste for some catfish and could have not picked a better place!!! I’m in love! The whole menu is great tasting food!! You have to try the fried ribs! This is a family business at its best!! I felt so welcomed! Nice vibes soulful music and company. The owner came and spoke with me and she even took a picture with me and my daughter. She is super sweet! I got to meet her kids who were the ones who took our order, it was just all around a great experience for this being my first time! Very reasonable prices as well!! I’m super excited to find a place I enjoyed!! Can’t wait to bring everyone I know here!!!! XOXO Thank you!!!

What an experience! The ENERGY! The Owner and her daughter made us feel like we were family! They shared their story of success and provided us with top notch service. The food was delicious and was served nice and hot. I will definitely recommend. Thanks guys!

The First Day I stopped in at 11:00 the young man stated were not opening till 11:30 in my the sign stated 11:00 strike one for me ,the next day I stopped in at 12:00 I asked for Turkey chill which was on the menu she (the owner ) stated I only sell soups when it’s cold outside!! I stated no problem can I order some Turkey Tacos she in turn stated we don’t have any Tacos either now I’m thinking why is it even on the menu if u don’t have it ? I guess she saw the frustration In My face so she began to name what they did have never the less I was forced into trying the Fish combo the Fish was pretty good I must say but there was all of ten shoe string French fries unlike the picture that I just seen on the website… I most likely will not revisit the Restaurant to much of a guessing game…..

The food I've ordered so far has been good but the to go side portions are really small. I'm not sure about the portion sizes if you dine in.

Best food I've ever had, seriously. Vari is so sweet and her food is delicious!! I had the Fried Catfish , mac and cheese , and garlic mash potatoes. 100/100 !!

My new favorite hidden gem. Food is fresh and flavorful! The fried ribs are seasoned to perfection, no sauce needed! The sides are great as well, Mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, greens, spaghetti, rice and gravy was all delicious, the hardest part is deciding which ones to get! Catfish was seasoned well and crispy! Don’t forget the kool aid to bring it all together! Service is welcoming, music selection is great! Owner is super nice and has great hospitality as well, will definitely continue to try more from this menu.

I'm out of town from Oklahoma and my friend and I selected this place because of Google. The pictures online was what made us choose it. Everything looked delicious! It was SO good! We had fried rib tips, catfish, wings, Mac & cheese, and collard greens! Every thing was good! The owner was friendly and came to check on us multiple times to make sure our food was correct and tasting good. I wish I'd have taken pics of the food because I left there FULL and satisfied. The food was hot and fresh, perfectly seasoned! If I'm back in the Chi again, I'd definitely come back!

Me my brother and son came to town to make a delivery. After 16hrs we were hungry and settled for Chinese but we walked into this establishment. We ordered the fried ribs Mac n cheese corn and greens. All I can say is Anytime someone says the BEST fried ribs they should come here 1st. Everything was delicious. That Mac N Cheese‼️ #Yes....I'll be sure 2 go back

The food at this restaurant is absolutely delicious. Cooked and seasoned just right. I had the smothered pork chops greens and mac&cheese. I loved everything . It's a two thumbs up for me

Place a large last minute order for our Black History Month potluck at work, and they had it ready in time for me to pick up the next day. Very sweet and attentive staff, and the food was hot and delicious! Will definitely be using them again for future catering events!

I came all the way from Florida to try Vari’s Southern Cuisine because of the pictures on FB. When I tell you the food looks EXACTLY how the pictures look and the taste is even better!!! I had the fish basket and my sister had the shrimp and grits… they both were PHENOMENAL!!! WHENEVER, I’m in the Chicagoland area, I will DEFINITELY VISIT AGAIN!!! The service was SUPERB…very CLEAN… the workers wears gloves… and she sells koolaid🥰 (so nostalgic)… VARI’S gets an A+++ from me😍 and the owner is beautiful, inside and out😍😍😍

Everything is made to order! The greens…PHENOMENAL…the spaghetti…it’s Mama’s….and the signature BOOM BOOM Shrimp….BAM! I have to come back and take pics. But a great gem in Proviso. Will DEFINITELY be back.
