Lucky to live near here. Best beach in Chicago for the open minded urban dweller. No dogs between memorial Day and labor day. πŸ˜”

Not family friendly. I was in Chicago for a wedding and decided to take a walk on this very beach without knowing anything about it's proclivities. My wife and I received several stares that didn't make sense at the time, but after learning it was a gay beach it made sense. Anyway, in the course of a 20 minute stroll we saw a naked guy sunbathing, a naked guy (except for a turban) chanting and ringing bells, and a naked guy pushing a bike. Keep your filth indoors please!

clean water, accessible to washroom and other facilities. Most famous gay beach in Chicago. I went there just before the market day festival and it was packed by people.

Clean beach and clean water. Very pleasant. As a non gay person one can feel a little out of place along the southern part of the beach.

Chicago's one and only gay beach is my favorite in the city. There's a great crowd and it's usually one of the cleaner beaches in the city

Best beach in the city! It has the hottest guys/girls and the most relaxed rules. It is clean and tucked away from all the Suburban Riff Raff that comes

Love this beach and all the positive vibes and good energy. LGBTQ+ friendly. I didn’t use any of the facilities, so couldn’t comment on them, but they do exist.

Best beach in Chicago- hands down! This is one of the only beaches that does NOT have parking, so if you're hauling a bunch of gear, or you've got the whole family, Foster Beach just to the south might be a better choice! This is unofficially the LGBTQ+ beach, and is very body positive, so you're not unlikely to see someone topless or suntanning their cheeks. There are a ton of volleyball nets, and a huge park nearby as well!

My back yard now if we could use it during the day would be great without being hassled by the beach guards (life guards) Lighten up mayor leadfoot (lighfoot) or u'll be a one and done term mayor!

I absolutely love this beach! It’s much less crowded than downtown beaches and even Montrose and Foster beaches. It’s more quiet, with a dog park nearby. There are bathrooms, a cute little place to eat, and it’s very clean and scenic. Truly a Chicago gem.

πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆLGBT friendly beach.πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ I visited from Houston, Texas, two weeks ago. I got there a little late in the afternoon and there was a Storm on its way. The beach was closed due to state regulations after the pandemic (which is why I’m giving it 4 stars and not 5). I could only spend a little less than two hours until it started raining. Nice atmosphere, cute and friendly people. I’ll be back soon!

Google asking me to review this beach 7 months since the last time I was there. Like i havent been living the Chicago winter life since. I vaguely remember being happy... as I didnt realize this place was called kathy it really was hard for me to remember the before times. I looked at some beach pictures and did realize I knew this place. I dont know who this osterman lady is but I'm hip deep in a review so I cant Google who kathy osterman is. I hope she liked beaches and relaxing because this is what this place reminds me of( oh God, I want summer to be here.). If she was some kind of jerk than I think she would spin super hard in her grave.... I'm gonna go look up kathy osterman.

My favorite beach on the upper north side. Good bar/concession with great summer cocktails. The vibe of the beach is very edgy and body positive. It’s a comfortable place where everyone can be themselves with friends or family. GREAT for people watching.

Very nice beach and kept clean. More of an Uptown feel than Dog Beach or other beaches to the south. It seems cleaner than the other beaches.

It's closed for now but I love it here,as soon as your there because of the beachy vibes you might forget your in Chicago,Sheridan is right behind it but you can't see it,and that is enough to transport me to the Greek islands (after I put my sunscreen on half an hour B4 u leave the house that's when it protects best) and I start sunbathing the smell of tropical coconuts or Coppertone sunscreen makes me feel like I'm on a small island of Crete called Christy or Chrissy beach πŸ–οΈ it's paradise on earth 🌎 it's been years since I've been there,Google it you would be amazed by this place it has a sing that says when you leave this place leave only your footprints behind.β€οΈπŸ’―πŸ†’ it's a very chill place cool people, the cafe lakebreeze is awesome I like that it's not as crazy as Montrose beatch, I love living so close to it.

Underrated beach in terms of space and ambiance. Keep in mind that this place is where the LGBTQ community often visit so you'll see the a lot of that along with nudes here. I just came here to enjoy the labor day weekend and it was worth it. There are other beaches that charge a fee so keep that in mind. The drawback here is that parking is hard to find. I would comeback, if given the opportunity.

This is a really beautiful beach with good sand and a great view. Usually pretty quiet during the winter time, and full in the summer. There are public bathrooms in the beach house, and coffee shops not too far away. There is not parking, you’ll have to go to Foster beach about a mile away for that.
