Was
searching
for
best
places
to
have
coffee
in
Palermo
and
this
place
came
up.
It
is
located
off
the
beaten
tourist
track
in
the
slightly
shabby
side
streets
near
to
the
main
train
station
and
is
a
genuine
find.
Obviously
you
get
great
coffee
in
many
places
in
Italy
and
all
over
Palermo.
But
it
is
almost
always
Italian-style
espresso
and
there
is
nothing
wrong
with
that.
But
if
you
want
single
origin
drip
or
aeropress
coffee,
straight
black
or
in
drinks
like
a
flat
white,
that
is
sometimes
harder
to
find.
Bar
Vabres
is
serious
about
all
forms
of
its
coffee
and
they
always
have
a
selection
of
single
origin
coffees.
The
Ethiopian
flat
white
that
I
had
was
one
of
the
best
coffees
I
have
ever
had
in
Italy.
There
is
an
interesting
price
disparity:
€1.20
for
standard
coffee
(espresso),
€2.00
for
latte
macchiato
(aka
cafe
latte
to
non
Italians)
and
€3.50
for
a
single
origin
coffee,
presumably
reflecting
the
cost
of
the
beans.
On
the
food
side,
everything
is
excellent
-
pastries,
cakes,
arancina,
panini
and
even
warm
pasta
courses.
I'd
say
the
food
offerings
are
similar
to
those
found
in
the
many
excellent
cafe
bakeries
in
Palermo
but
it
is
the
coffee
that
makes
this
place
special.
And
everyone
is
very
friendly
too
