The gallery is marvelous. It has a beautiful art collection. Everything was well organized and accessible. There were flowers all around, making the place look like people were living there. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and help you understand what you see. They love what they're doing, and you can feel it. One particular member was astonishing, Brigida; when she saw my wife almost crying looking at the art pieces, she took the time to explain everything in that room like a premium guided tour. That made an unforgettable impression on me, my wife, and our daughter that will last forever. I recommend that when you are in Rome, take the time to visit the Colonna Gallery. We spent 5 hours and could spend a lot more.

GREAT experience if you can book the Saturday tour that includes a visit to the apartment where princess Isabel lived before she passed away in 1984. Apparently it's been left exactly how it was when she was alive. Also, if you get a chance to visit the garden and climb to the top of the stairs (where you can get great views of Rome plus a sneak peek into the apartments the family now rents to tenants).

This palace definitely is a wow and a must see. It's a private home and each room has knowledgeable staff to explain the history etc. Fabulous garden on the hillside with views over Rome and the Vatican. Still lived in by the same family 20 generations later. Only open Friday and Saturday morning. Visited January 13, 2024.

Awesome private collection of one of the powerful families of Rome. Only open on saturdays with pre purchased tickets. I highly recommend this place if you can fit it in your schedule. It’s a different view into how wealthy elites live since it was in active use until recently. The garden has an amazing view of the city and you can feel the power of the family.

Absolutely stunning! The main gallery is very, very impressive. The smaller stylized rooms are also beautiful. Head out into the nice garden and climb the stairs to the top viewing platform for a amazing view of the Roman skyline. The staff was also very friendly. And allround excellent museum.

An amazing place that you should definitely visit. The ceilings, the furniture, the paintings, the statues are all amazing. When I visited the place with my family in every room there was an art historian ready to answer your questions, umbrellas in case it rained when visiting the garden and I think I have even seen a galleria colonna pushchair. We took the ticket that allows you to see also the princess rooms and we enjoyed that area very much as well. If you are planning to visit Rome I would definitely put this place on your wishlist.

Touring this beautiful private palace in the heart of Rome was delightfully different from our museum experiences. You feel transported to a totally unique place. Our small tour group was led by a charming and knowledgeable young woman. We felt so welcome and unhurried. The art, rooms, furnishings, and gardens were uniformly beautiful and interesting. A refreshing change of pace. Open to the public only on Friday and Saturday mornings. Make sure to fit it into your schedule.

If you’re ever in Rome on a Saturday, do yourself a favor and visit this fascinating palace, as it will leave you in complete awe. The breathtaking artwork and history behind the family and the palace itself is worth every penny. Honestly, it was better than the many museums my wife and I attended.

We were lucky enough to have a guided tour of the palazzo by Federica and we were all blown away by the detail and passion of Federica's information and knowledge as well as the palazzo itself. Of all the attractions in Rome this was my favourite.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and kept us moving. The palazzo is filled with beautiful tapestries, statuary, and frescoes, so worth seeing. We went in July as part of the activities for a conference, so the entire City was hot and quite humid. Even with windows open, it was hot and somewhat stuffy.

Although the gallery itself isn't anything breathtaking, the gardens are a must see IMHO. You forget that you're in the city until you reach the top where there's a great panoramic view.

This is the finest palazzo museum we have visited in Rome. The paintings are vibrant and well lit, clearly presented booklets identify the art, volunteers provide valuable information when needed, and visitor numbers are carefully controlled. Access to the beautiful garden is an added bonus. Visit if you are in Rome on a Saturday.

Incredible place to visit and history connected to the family. Existing almost 1000 years, at least first written document can evidence it, full of intriguing details and family members have shaped history known to us. We took guided tour and it was very good but still not really enough time to properly enjoy it. Canvas collection is just enormous and for real enthusiasts and those who are more familiar would recommend to do the visit on their own. The visiting hours are limited, but still to precious to miss out on. Clear recommendation. Will visit for sure next time I am in Rome.

(Translated by Google) Galleria Colonna is a real gem, with a truly enviable art collection (works by Reni, Guercino, Tiziano, Tintoretto and other masters of the past), all within a sumptuous but elegant setting belonging to this historic noble palace. A truly well-maintained gallery that deserves a thorough visit, where you can admire the extraordinary beauty of an art collection that still belongs to the historic Colonna family.

What a beautiful place. Galleria Colonna in Rome is a hidden jewel that can't be missed. Just a word on Massimo, the tour guy. He was knowledgeable and friendly. And most importantly, he left you space and time to yourself to appreciate the magnificent art and decoration inside. He didn't pretend to be the star of the show as happens with most tour guides.

Special thanks to Valeria della Croce Bianca for quick assistance to a family member. Being in Rome, a place where you do not know anyone and in the moment of fear to find kind and very helpful people goes my personal thanks. I bring home the wonderful memory of Palazzo Colonna, but also the great heart of all its staff. Thank you. Marisa (Original) Un luogo bellissimo, splendente, pieno di storia di fascino. This was the most pleasant surprise of our visit. It was a late addition to the itinerary but thank goodness we did. The Colonna family has been intricately woven into the history of Rome. I have been to palaces and castles across Europe. This ranks in the top 2 or 3 of the dozens I’ve visited. The collection is more than impressive as are the stately and intricately adorned rooms. Do yourself a favor and take a tour. Sandrinne our guide wove the family’s flawlessly into her descriptions of the collection. We were received by Don Prospero the managing family member. He was so pleasant. Make your reservation now.

What a beautiful museum! Very very big but absolutely gorgeous. Would have been nice so have taken the guided tour instead of just walking by yourself but still very much enjoyable. If you don’t really want to the main tour is more worth it only instead of the full tour including the apartment.

Beautiful museum! So many great paintings. The works of art here were elaborate and we're all over the ceilings and walls. We also paid to see the princess's apartment and the garden. It was an amazing time and we'll worth the price. It's one of my favorites in Rome. Don't miss it!

This palace belonged to the Colone family throughout the many generations, its a really beautiful place filled with a lot of intricate murals and tapestries, works of art and a great garden. They also have a guide (has several languages, you need to return it at the exit) that says what is the name of the art work ( the art is numbered) So its very easy to identify and know what you look at. Besides that, the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Palazzo Colonna is easily one of the best (if not the best) galleries I’ve seen in Europe. Not only does it hold a masterful collection of Italian art (paintings by Guercino, Carracci, Tintoretto, and Bronzino; sculptures and frescoes; colorful furnishings like their many Murano chandeliers), it also has breath-taking rooms (most especially the Great Hall) that walk you through the noble family’s rich history, all extremely well-preserved and properly featured. The people in the palace have also been incredibly warm and insightful, going out of their ways to shed more light into the stories and contexts behind every artwork. Meeting the Prince (Don Prospero) was the icing on the cake (he was happily welcoming each and every visitor), bringing to life the rich history that surrounded me during my visit. The paintings are no longer just paintings when you know that the history lives on through the Prince and everyone else in the palace. I strongly recommend a visit to the Palazzo when you’re in Rome. You won't regret it!!

This gallery is open just two days in a week. So I booked the ticket early. Colonna is the powerful family based in Rome during the middle age. As a result it shows how their authority and power is. This Palazzo Colonna is splendid, colorful, and luxurious. The garden is also excellent.

Amazing collection of paintings in a very well maintained palace. But what really sets this small museum apart is the enthusiasm and knowledge of the museum guides who are on-hand throughout (at least one person in each room). They are more than happy to answer all of our questions (be sure to ask about the random cannonball embedded in one of the stairways!). We were really impressed by their passion and the overall experience.

(Translated by Google) I think it is the best preserved Palazzo Nobile in Rome where a part of the Colonna family still resides today. It has a very interesting ancient history that is intertwined in various eras and as we admire it today it is thanks to Princess Isabella, who died in 1984, who completely restored it. The Gallery, the Palace with the Princess's apartments are open to the public on Saturday mornings and if the weather permits, even the private gardens. It is absolutely worth a visit. The private collection of paintings, including the very famous "Mangiafagioli" by Annibale Carracci, but not only, the amazing Tapestries, the marbles ... so on and so forth ... it's a palace that you will never tire of visit. Alternatively, during the week, a private visit can be requested upon request. La Galleria, il Palazzo con gli appartamenti della Principessa sono aperti al pubblico il sabato mattina e se il tempo lo permette, anche i giardini privati. Vale assolutamente la pena visitarla.
