This is an unassuming place that offers a really good overview of the history of Rome. Well designed displays show the fast playback of the transformation of Rome since long before count. We came with a party of folks ages 6 to 70 and everyone enjoyed it.

This didn't start out as I expected but it ended up being incredibly informative and the last map room was fantastic. It's set up as you go to four small side rooms where watching a small projection and 3D model on four key areas of Rome (Mausoleum of Hadrian, St. Peter’s Basilica, Forum of Augustus, Imperial Forums) - going through a few minute overview of its history and how it would've looked in its prime. The audio is via an audio guide in your language, and each room is about 5 minutes of explanation whilst standing. The last room area has a large topography map of Rome with large screens above and comfortable theatre seating. It goes through the full history of Rome in 25 minutes, showing the size and key landmarks on the bottom map, and enhancing it with additional visuals on the screens above. It does take about 1 hour which is defined by the presentation lengths. I was disappointed during the first few minutes as felt like it was just watching a Tv but do give it a chance as it ups its game with each new area. For facilities, they also have a small gift shop and indicated a toilet was available.

Must see if you are in Rome. They use holograms to show old Rome. Explained history in good modern way. You will see also short film on large screen. It was not busy, we booked tickets online. I recommend it.

Super awesome experience!! One of the first things you should do when visiting Rome to see the different eras and how the city became what it is today. Super cool renderings of what certain things looked like thousands of years ago. Engaging and unique. Spent just over an hour visiting, with 30 minute video to start and the 4 rooms that were each about 5 minutes each.

Small but mighty museum to help you imagine how Rome evolved over the centuries. I actually was looking for somewhere like this since my last visit to Rome, so I was very happy to find it! I think with a little bit of more investment it could be more interesting as virtual reality is getting more advanced each day. I think it would be great to include a simulation to walk inside the Ancient Rome as a pedestrian. I also suggest having more language options in audio guide. Nevertheless, we had a good 1-1.5 hour in the museum with little kids.

THAT WAS SO COOL!!! The entire experience was awesome, staff was kind and courteous, the technology in the holograms was stunning, the history was pertinent and laid out well (I was a history teacher in the past so I look for those things), and it only cost €12.50, worth every penny!! Only took just under an hour, real easy to fit into your plans, don't miss out

I thought this was the perfect way to get our trip to Rome started by learning more about the history of this great city, its people and its architecture. While it wasn't my first visit to the Eternal City, the Welcome to Rome experience was not around the last time I was there. The main theater show was really, really well done, as were all the mini presentations that followed. Everything was designed well and performed perfectly, giving us a great view into the past. The staff were friendly and helpful. While the theatrical experience was lovely, the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because my family used the toilets before leaving, and they were out of both toilet paper and soap in the women's room, at least. That aside, I would absolutely recommend visitors check this place out, especially if it's your first time in Rome.

A really different, interesting and innovative way to learn about the history of Rome - '4D' models which show how the buildings and landscape of Rome has changed over time, with a headset to narrate in your chosen language. The 4D model experience of the Roman Forum in particular gives a different and much clearer perspective on the scale and layout of the key buildings than simply walking around the ruins alone can. We visited late morning on a weekday, it was very quiet and we were able to go straight into each of the model experiences, and see the (really amazing) final experience without any waiting. I can imagine that at busier times there may have been a bit of a wait for the final experience, which lasts for circa 30 mins. Overall we were there for a little over an hour, and it was well worth the time. Although not cheap I considered it reasonable value given the uniqueness of the experience and the amount of effort that must have gone into producing the content.

I live in Rome for 6 years and this morning I took my kids to Welcome to Rome. We have really enjoyed the experience, specially the 3d movie. Very well done and very instructive. The history of Rome from its birth to the 21st century. 4 family tickets, 60 euro. Whole experience, 1 hour.

It was a great experience! Very nice trip through the 3000 years history of Rome. It was entertaining, magical yet very informative. We came after visiting the city and it was a nice summary of all what we have seen. My kids 7 and 11 enjoyed it much, as much as their grandmother 75 and parents. For all generations! The staff was very caring, and helpful. I would for sure recommend it!

This museum was an incredible introduction to Romes long history. I would highly recommend it at the start of your Rome itinerary if possible so that you can enjoy more of the sites. The exhibit is an a good job of summarizing rooms history and providing an excellent multimedia temptation to immerse you in the experience. The main presentation was about 20 to 30 minutes and the few side presentations lasted about five minutes each for a total visit time is about one hour. The bathrooms were also very clean.

Visiting Rome? Stop! And buy a ticket for this multimedia presentation and make this the first thing you do when you arrive. Doing so, I guarantee that when you walk out you will have a better understanding of what you see lying all around you in the city and a much deeper appreciation for all those bits and pieces that at first have little or no context. #1 You choose a date but your ticket can be used ANYTIME that day--so you have flexibility and are not going to miss anything if you take a wrong turn on your way. #2 You can watch and experience it more than once that day! I attended the 13:00 showing, went to get gelato and walked around a bit, came back around 15:30 and watched it a second time: it is that good. #3 The museum opened in 2017 and the main multimedia presentation is new as of 2019. And it feels and looks it! I felt like I was in an IMAX theater presentation. The visuals are projected on four walls--straight ahead, the two sides, and the floor, which is angled upwards to meet the screen that is front and center. From those four screens you are immersed headlong into the story of Rome. #4 I was too engrossed--twice!-- to remember to time it, but I estimate the length is about 15 minutes, maybe 20. 5 There are an additional four shorter multimedia presentations that last 5 to 6 minutes each. They were not mentioned when I bought my ticket through an online tour platform, but the staff informed me of them after the main presentation. Each one--Imperial Fora, Augustus' Forum, St. Peter's Basilica, and Hadrian's Mausoleum (AKA Castel Sant' Angelo)--delve deeper into the subject at hand. #6 The cost is less than $20. A small amount to get the most out of your time in this wondrous city. I know... because I made this the first thing on my itinerary before doing anything else in Rome, and already my hunch to do so has been rewarded.

I really wish I'd visited here before seeing the Forum and Palatine Hill. Their displays did an absolutely fantastic job of giving you a sense of what Imperial Rome at its height looked like, and really brought to life some of the great monuments of the city. My kids enjoyed it, and I found it really helped me understand some of the places I'd visited. That said, in retrospect, coming here first and then visiting sites around the city might have helped me understand them better. Highly recommend a visit. Took us around 40 minutes to see everything.

I highly recommend for families. Great 3D and movie presentation. I wish I'd brought the kids here first to help them recognize some of the monuments we'd been seeing. They loved it, high praise. Easy to get to, no lines, I expected it to be busier but it was plenty quiet.

A very informative show and experience told through a movie, light effects and 3d models. The movie talks through how Rome was formed and it's origins, the Roman empire, renaissance and other pivotal Roman history moments. We came here on our first day in Rome and it gave us good idea's of what to look out for and appreciate what has changed in Rome. My son of 8 really enjoyed the 3d cinema experience and the models. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Cool, but a little underwhelming..... Kids might enjoy it. You might run across their ads in a magazine like we did. But when we got there, it was like a small storefront. There were four 3D "animations" that lasted a few minutes each. Then the movie was maybe 20 minutes. Good history lesson, movie was interesting.....we just thought we were headed to almost a museum and that is not what this is.

If you need a quick catch up on the Roman history then this is the place to go. They have a 30 minutes show that makes history fun and tells all about how Rome went from being just seven bare hills to when it became an empire. In addition to this they have four rooms with holographic shows about "important" buildings. They were a bit "hit and miss" and didn't include the Colloseum, the Pantheon or the Trevi Fountain. Would still recommend.

Combining coincise and precise storytelling with amazing visuals (3D models reconstruction, videos and lights) makes the experience instructive and exciting at the same time. Impossible to get bored, you finish the experience enriched. Great job

Great experience showcasing different monuments of Rome, bringing them back to their glory days. Then you walk into a cinema for a 30mins movie about the city from foundation to modern day. Total experience is an hour. Definitely worth time and money for history lovers! Staff is also very friendly and professional. Don't buy online unless you come in a super packed time (we were there at 4pm on a Sunday in early October and it was fairly empty). We just walked in and the price was even slightly cheeper (14.5 instead of 17.5 euros).

My partner and I had a mixed opinions on Welcome To Rome. I found it very interesting, one of the most engaging attractions I'd seen recently. It's certainly a very small and basic set up, with only four building specific videos each about 5 minutes in length, and then a considerably longer 30 minute short film covering the history of Rome. It took us about an hour to see everything from start to finish, but I'd still say it was worth the price of entry. If you do intend to visit it's probably worth doing early in a visit to the city before seeing the sites in person. My partner liked it considerably less, and wouldn't recommend it. The videos were all samey, and the actual history covered in the short film was surface level in not mentioning major events, but overly detailed in odd places. Several of the families in our viewing also left early, with the children appearing to get bored before it finished.

To be honest we were excited by all the glowing reviews but were sorely disappointed once done with this experience. The staff were split between friendly and cold, the different rooms were ok but the details on the different buildings were way too surface level. Finally the cinema, it was once again too basic, the story was slow and all the animations were old school, they need to be revamped. On the plus side my girlfriend took the best nap of our trip in Rome during the movie. All this on top of the price make it a poor experience and an expensive nap. At best this is a 5€ experience.

If it’s your first time in Rome and you have little knowledge of it’s history, then I would highly recommend you do this as soon as you arrive. It takes you through the ancient, classical, medieval (dark), renaissance, and modern ages with beautiful visual affects. You will come out with a greater appreciation of the landmarks you’re about to see!

It was my second time visiting, still loved this place. Opens your eyes on the whole Roman forum and ancient Rome + some of it's renaissance part. Definitely recommend!

  • 5/5 Navid 8 months ago on Google
Absolutely incredible - the explanation of the history of Rome is so well done in their cinematic video. It really puts what you see in the city into perspective. Even if you visit the ruins first it’s well worth coming here to see what they’ve put together. Only suggestion is that the space needs a bit of work and to make the experience more aesthetically pleasing, the empty rooms with the holograms tucked away really take away from how awesome the shared info is!! The staff also seemed pretty apathetic which was disappointing. SO MUCH POTENTIAL!

Exceeded expectations, a great experience to learn about the history of Rome and picture how today's ruins looked like in ancient times. Highly recommend this when you first get to Rome as it will give you good background knowledge to help appreciate sites and monuments you'll visit. We were lucky to be there with almost no one else, we booked the very latest entry of the day. Apparently on the same day during the morning there were about 300 people. I'm sure you'd like it anyway but not many people around was a plus to better enjoy the visual effects.

Great to visit at the beginning of a Rome trip and also good for children. The place is small, but gives a very good intro into historical Rome. The use of holograms is amazing.

Amazing, we loved it so much. You can experience the true history of Rome. You learn a lot and it is very useful when you see the actual places. İf you have time, go ahead and check the place. People who worked there was also extremely nice.

This was hands down amazing! It was one of the first things we did when we got to Rome and I'm so grateful we did. It's so much more than a show. I can't even explain the amazing things they did with the modules (plastics).

Loved this place!! We were told to visit here before truly starting our adventures in Rome, and we were so grateful that we followed the advice. The presentations are awesome, and it really helps you to understand the history of Rome and the history of the most important locations. Well worth a visit for anyone who is going to Rome without a tour group. The presentations are really great quality too! Can't recommend it enough. The staff are also REALLY helpful and friendly.

Awesome experience! If you are at Rome and you are planning to visit all the historical places, you have to visit this museum first. You will learn Rome's history and therefore you can have a better understanding when visiting all historical places. There is a cinema, 3D projections and lots of layouts. Amazing experience!!!

Amazing. Simply amazing to see how Rome used to look. I suggest going here before or after visiting the Forum Romanum. There is a cinema experience with an all around view. Quite an unique experience.

Super interesting museum with a really creative way to show the history of Rome. 4 different stops with 3D animations and available in multiple languages. The highlight is the movie. Highly recommended and a creative and digital way to get to know Rome a little better.
