Dixie
Roadhouse
promised
a
lively
mix
of
country
meets
hip-hop,
all
night
dance
party,
but
instead
delivered
a
prisoners
entrance,
a
smoky
atmosphere,
and
service
that
left
us
feeling
unwelcome
and
ignored.
Entrance
Enigma:
Arriving
at
peak
hour,
we
were
herded
like
cattle
through
two
separate
lines
while
the
doormen
checked
IDs
and
bags.
A
standard
protocol
for
most
bars
and
nightclubs,
although
the
authoritative
tone
and
"step
back"
commands
felt
more
akin
to
airport
security
than
a
bar
entrance.
Then,
without
explanation,
a
camera
captured
our
faces,
leaving
us
feeling
like
mugshots
were
being
taken.
Smoke
Signals:
Stepping
inside,
the
hope
for
a
fun
night
quickly
dissipated.
A
thick
cloud
of
cigarette
smoke
hung
heavy
in
the
air
with
the
tenacity
of
a
London
fog,
making
the
"no
smoking
indoors"
sign
seem
eerily
out
of
place.
As
non-smokers
we
were
immediately
put
off.
Barren
Standoff:
Eager
to
unwind
with
a
drink,
we
approached
the
bar.
Despite
being
the
only
patrons
waiting,
we
were
met
with
nothing
but
dismissive
glances
from
the
bartenders.
No
acknowledgement,
no
attempt
to
take
our
orders,
just
a
blatant
disregard
that
made
us
feel
invisible.
After
repeated
attempts
to
flag
them
down,
we
gave
up,
defeated
and
disappointed.
Escape
from
Dodge:
Leaving
Dixie
Roadhouse
felt
like
escaping
a
low
budget
Western.
The
experience
left
us
frustrated
and
questioning
the
establishment's
commitment
to
customer
service.
If
you're
looking
for
a
welcoming
and
enjoyable
night
out
in
Cape
Coral,
there
are
definitely
other
options
that
offer
a
more
pleasant
and
smoke-free
atmosphere,
along
with
bartenders
who
are
actually
interested
in
serving
their
guests.
*Author's
note:
On
the
plus
side
the
🎶
was
banging
and
the
dance
floor
was
packed.
Had
we
not
wanted
drinks
I'm
sure
we
could
have
salvaged
this
trainwreck.
