This is an amazing museum to see arts from Botero, Picasso, Edgar Degas, Monet, Renoir, Dali, Max Ernst and several other famous artists. I went on Sunday and entrance was free. It is a small museum and it can be visited within 1-2 hours.

An amazing art museum for the whole family. Something I’ve heard while I was on the line was “this is an artist who draws everybody fat” I think who said it was right.

Not a big fan and don’t have taste in enjoying museums and art. Nevertheless this style by Botero is so different and entertaining. It helps a bit to read about it. And what a man making it a deal to make sure his exhibits won’t be sold or charged for. This museum is free. Legend !!

Great museum with free entrance and not only a number of Botero works, but also many paintings from his private collection. There are works by Dali, Picasso, Miro, Gaugin, and a number of French impressionists. Also a few early sketches by Picasso and Botero which was very cool to see! The building is very beautiful as well with a very green inner patio.

Three Museums day Well today was a visit to three museums in close proximity to each other in Bogota. The military museum, the police museum and Botero Art museum. This is a collective entry as they are all about the same excellent standard, have the same amenities, all are free and all have the same pitfall of limited or lack of English signage/audio assistance. All are of a moderate size with cafes and toilets. Allow 1-2 hours for each one. Military Museum: Interesting and obviously stocked with a historical variety of firearms, cannons and a few vehicles and airframes. Well set out and presented over several floors. Police Museum: Again interesting and also well stocked with a variety of firearms over several floors. A few interesting rooms worth a look at too especially the ‘war against drugs’ room. Botero Art Museum: I am not a big fan of Fernando Botero but I must be in the minority seeing as he’s worth over $200,000,000. Anyway a really well laid out multi floored museum again. As well as a large amount of Boteros work, paintings and sculptures, there are notable pieces by Picasso, Renoir, Bacon and Monet which I didn’t expect. All in all a good day’s sightseeing.

Soooo good. Seeing a few special Botero, Calder, and Dali pieces in person is worth the trip. His paintings and sculptures up close, especially in this location, are so amazing.

WOW! The Botero Museum was such a great place to visit while my stay in Bogota. I had a smile ear to ear as I walked through the museum and see one great art piece after another. It made me so happy to be there and see what great work the artist Botero has compiled. Make sure you stop by and appreciate his work. Some are really big and I was left astounded by his creativity and talent. I am a huge fan of Botero. Thank you! I am very fortunate to visit this museum.

Wow this was really good and on top of it it was free. Definitely get the audio guide as it will give a good overview of the pieces. Wish they would put in some of the 2000s era pieces though. But for sure a must visit.

Beautiful, free museum with amazing space and collection. Relatively uncrowded, beautifully laid out outdoors, and delectable selection of Botero arts and other adjoining museums' collections

This is an amazing museum, part of a larger complex. There are three aspects to the Botero collection: his private collection, including works of Picasso, Renoir, Chagall, Kokoschka, Max Ernst, Pissarro, his paintings and sculptures. I personally enjoyed the latter. I liked the humour of his art. I was always wondering what happened between Leda 💃 and the swan 🦢. Now, I know🫣. I spent more than 4 hours in the complex, including the nice restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hit it 👍🏿! Definitely a must visit. It was such a cool experience. The art inside was beautiful and thought provoking. There was a cafe inside if you want to take a break. Also, it is free!

I didn't know we had this amazing museum in Bogota. You'll be able to see a child of Picasso's,a Renoir, a Monet, and many more beautiful paintings. You just need a reservation, entrance is free.

Fine art and free admission. Beautiful sculptures, framed art from many well known and famous artists, not just Botero.

There was no entrance fee. Highly recommended to visit this museum. There are a lot of Boteros art pieces, but not exclusively.

Bolero way of drawing is unique, he love big bodies. It's not my taste. But he is one of a kind artist 🎨. My his soul rest in peace.

Free entrance when I went on a Friday evening. The beautiful Fat Mona Lisa Piece is on display here along with his other masterpieces. There is art from Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, plus many other artists besides Botero. Everything is laid out beautifully, the courtyard is beautiful in the evening. I would come to Bogota again just to visit this museum.

This museum is a must see when visiting Bogota. Located in the historic area of La Candelaria. It was great to see so many pieces of Botero’s work up close. Other great works (Picasso, Monet, Matisse, Degas...) are present as well. The interior garden courtyard with its fountain is very peaceful and is a nice backdrop for photos.

Admission was free. The Botero Museum was very interesting. Lots of paintings and sculptures. There are other museums connected. I highly recommend it. Appropriate for children. There is some National Geographic type nudity, but nothing I consider inappropriate for children.

This was my favorite museum of Bogotá. There are a lot of good important pieces and not just from Botero, you can find pieces form other good artists too. Also, the complex is just spectacular and well kept. The buildings are well preserved.

Admission to the museum is free. The building itself is really beautiful to walk through and there's a really lovely collection of art including Picassos, Monet, Renoir, among others in additon to the Boteros. There isn't much information posted about the art but it's still a really pleasant way to spend an afternoon. If you really love art, I'd say you could expect to spend a couple hours there.

This is a great museum and a can’t miss destination when you’re in Bogota. First of all it’s free so you can’t beat that, however, I would totally pay if I had to. This place is obviously filled with many paintings and artifacts from Botero but it also has paintings from other famous artist. As you walk from room to room it’s interesting and also funny to see his oversized depictions of people, fruits and animals.

I found Botero's work fascinating and simple to relate with, especially when viewing his "Pájaro"(bird) artwork. Reminds me of the dove, who was trying to scare me away from the hotel's jacuzzi this morning. His irreverent sense of fun and joy of life captured on the canvas makes me smile.

Excellent and beautiful Museum in La Candelaria neighborhood , Bogota. All the works were donated by famous Colombian Painter Fernando Botero. A wonderful collection of his most important works and paintings including his own private collection from other painters like Picasso, Matisse and others. This was definitely the highlight of my trip to Bogota. It’s definitely a place for art lovers who appreciate Botero’s art.admission is free of charge. The best gift Botero gave his country and people before he died!

I was mesmerized and embellished by all the master pieces. Please, please, please don't miss the opportunity to go to this beautiful place. You not only enjoy Botero's art. Includes pieces that used to belong to him, like Degas, Klimt, Picasso, Monet even Dalí!! There's a beautiful garden and a coffee place in the back. The best of all... Is free❤️ Thank you Colombia

The Museo Botero, is an art museum located in La Candelaria neighborhood of Bogotá, Colombia. It houses mostly works by Colombian artist Fernando Botero, however it also includes artwork by other international artists that were of Botero's own private art collection.

  • 5/5 Felipe Tinoco S. 2 years ago on Google
One of the best museums in Bogota. Botero was a genius artist (creator of "boterismo") and it's amazing to see how he evolved his style along the years. This museum has also a great collection of pieces from famous artists such as Picasso, Miró, etc. You have to schedule your visit via their website and the whole place is peaceful and extremely charming. Go to this museum and then walk 200m down to the La Puerta Falsa tô eat a traditional Tamale. Really worth a visit!

  • 5/5 Christopher S. 2 years ago on Google
Love this museum. Had lots of works from Picasso and other artists besides Botero. It is free and the staff where awesome.

  • 5/5 AMANDA W. 6 months ago on Google
Stunning, free museum! Way better than the Botero museum in Medellin as they allow you to take photos. Not only that, but this is connected to two other museums, making it easy to spend a whole day here. Don’t miss if you are visiting bogota!

  • 5/5 Steven A. 2 years ago on Google
Never heard of this artist before but now I won't forget him. Fun, unique works in beautifully designed museum. Enjoy the walkable area around the museum as well. Very photogenic.

  • 5/5 Maddi Q. 6 months ago on Google
I loved the Botero Museum! An amazing collection of Fernando Boteros work. He donated his collection here and there are other pieces of value added since his donation! I loved that there was information in both Spanish and English because my Spanish is less good. Overall 10/10!

  • 4/5 Kaio F. 2 years ago on Google
I didn't know much about Botero before my visit and I got excited when I saw his artwork. The museum has an incredible amount of paintings and sculptures, but besides a small flyer you get at front desk, there's nothing presenting the artist behind the art. Also, it would be nice to know more about the context of each piece.

Awesome little museum with an easy layout and a beautiful center atrium. Botero's work is wonderful, power and unique. Well worth the visit!

  • 5/5 Premal V. 8 months ago on Google
Free and gorgeous museum dedicated to art donated by Botero from his huge collection. Some works are his own. Others are other artists -- some of them quite famous. The open courtyard in the museum is also beautiful. One of the best places to visit in Bogota.

  • 5/5 B H. 2 years ago on Google
It was an incredible display of his paintings, sketches and statues. Admission was free but you can make a donation online. Stay a meter away from the walls where the artwork is hung. Alarms will go off and there is security in each room

  • 4/5 Ana K. 2 years ago on Google
It is very well organised, and pretty big museum, but I didn’t like the style of Botero’s work, personally. It is a place worth visiting because you have more than just his works in offer. It is really modern.

  • 5/5 Chris 1 year ago on Google
This is a wonderful museum of Botero's artwork and art from other influential artists from his time. The majority of the "other art" was from his private collection. While I not a fan of Botero's work this museum is quite a nice place to visit for a hour or two and better yet it's free.

  • 5/5 geoff m. 1 year ago on Google
The Botero Museum would be buried under tourists if it were in a European capital but even on a busy day it's relaxing and enjoyable. In the first two rooms the visitor is confronted by Botero's personal collection strait from an art history book: A lovely Renoir, a Chagal, a little Emil Nolde landscape from when he was persecuted by the Nazis, a few pieces by Picaso, a piece by Max Beckman, Sisley, George Braque, etc. And then the museum's collection of Botero itself wich is as good as its counterpart in Medellin. And it's free! Enjoy.

  • 5/5 Rebecca W. 1 year ago on Google
Definitely worth a visit if you are in Bogotá, I am not a fan of art museums in general but Botero's style is interesting and there are pieces from other famous painters too. Don't get too close to the paintings or you will set off the alarm! Also it's free :)

  • 5/5 Omar R. 2 years ago on Google
Medium size, part of 3 museums. Great collection from this famous artist. It’s worth it goven that it’s free.

  • 5/5 Randy B. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful museum featuring the work of Colombian artist Fernando Botero as well as pieces from Picasso, Matisse, Renoir, Monet

  • 5/5 Mirko S. 1 year ago on Google
a plaudit to Bogota that offers one of its best museums with free admission. Well done. The Botero collection is very rich and the space is excellent, both in the rooms and outdoors.

  • 5/5 Ofer F. 1 year ago on Google
Awesome! This museum (which is actually a complex of several museums) is definitely a must-see. Not only are there many works by Botero, but also many pieces by other artists from Botero’s personal collection, including Picasso, Chagall and others. The building is gorgeous and worth visiting just for itself. Entry is free.

  • 5/5 Zak E. 8 months ago on Google
Botero has a unique art style that I’m not a huge fan of but the space is amazingly well put together and it is free. Highly suggest to come and take a look. Some pieces there are unique to the artists. The plaza down the way is also great. The layout makes it great to walk through

  • 5/5 Leo A. 11 months ago on Google
An absolute must-see when in Bogota! Admission is free, and you can explore the works of the legendary artist Fernando Botero. While the museum is centered around Botero, there are also works by Picasso and Joan Miro. Take around 2 hours to explore this site in the heart of La Candelaria.

  • 5/5 Sarah 9 months ago on Google
Amazing museum for free admission! Botero is very talented and I very much enjoyed the time here at Botero museum. Recommended if you are in the area!

  • 5/5 Melissa M. 10 months ago on Google
Botero Museum, which is otherwose known as Museo Botero is located in the historic neighbourhood of La Candelaria in Bogotá. The museum houses 123 works of renowned Colombian painter and sculptor, Fernando Botero, and 85 of other artists for a total of 208 works of art. Mahor highlights of the collection includes works from Balthus, Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, Georges Braque and Claude Monet. Botero's art style is distinctive with chubby characters. The museum is open everyday, except a Tuesday and admission is free. Pictures and videos without flash are allowed. Definitely a must see on a tour of La Candelaria.

  • 5/5 Gary 9 months ago on Google
Located in an old nunnery in Bogota. It is a lovely excursion. There are some beautiful patero sculptures. Some are lit beautifully in alcoves throughout the building.

  • 5/5 Jack B. 8 months ago on Google
Not usually big into art museums but we really enjoyed this. Was not familiar with Botero and his work but he has done lots of great stuff with a very signature style and a funny painting of the Mona Lisa. If you want to be cultural this is a nice activity. Lots of other famous artists work here too and it’s free

  • 5/5 Jingqi 2 years ago on Google
Loved it! It was very nice and definitely a lot to see! You would need at least a couple of hours there to go through everything

  • 4/5 Mimi M. 8 months ago on Google
Good if you are interested in art beyond the classic stuff, or if you find the idea of chubby paintings funny. I'm on the second tier but I'm quite ignorant of other matters of art. However, I think the organisation and care of the building are incredible. The people working there are really nice and helpful.
